As you enter into the grounds, you see the area set up for Divination. Or possibly a marshmallow roast, because there are four areas of piled logs and sticks encircled with fist-sized stones as if in preparation for a campfire. Immediately around that there are stone seats for the students to sit in.
Standing in front of a larger pile of logs and sticks is Professor Kapoor. With his layered outer-robes and long lavender scarf billowing in the early spring gust, he looked a bit like a well-bundled snowman.
"Good afternoon, students! Welcome to today's Divination lesson. Please take a seat with your fellow housemates. Groundskeeper Masterson will be joining us shortly." He informed them.
"Hmm...mmkay," LouAnn said, thinking that it was a pretty good idea for Fred to ask such a non-personal question. She might even consider inquiring about OWL results herself. It'd be better than asking about possibly murdering two Hufflepuff students. She shifted her weight until she positioned towards the burning wood. She stared deep into the fire, trying to find some sort of meaning within it.
She thought carefully about what Fred had asked, and she posed the question to the fire. On one of the pieces of wood closest to her, she noticed two stray markings coming together at a midpoint. She tilted her head and examined them a little closer. Well, not too close...she didn't want to singe her eyebrows or anything like that. The formation the markings made was a plus sign, so LouAnn took that to mean that Fred's OWL results would be positive.
Keeping that in mind, she examined a separate piece of wood. A few markings of the wood formed what looked to be the letter T. There was a little minus sign next to the letter T, which LouAnn took to be a negative outlook. She glanced back up at Fred. "Well, I see a plus sign here...see the two markings?" she asked, pointing them out. "I think this means that overall, you'll do quite well on your OWLs. You'll have a positive score." She leaned over and pointed towards the second piece of wood she'd examined. "See that piece there? There's a marking that looks sort of like the letter T. Well, there's a little minus sign next to the T, so...I think you may need to really put some focus on Transfiguration. You know, study a lot and all."
"Oh, thats good to here. I was woried coming from a different school I might not be ready in time for OWLs. So Transfiguration is the weak link according to this. I guess I'll need to put a little more effort into it but still keep studying the rest of my subjects to guarantee this to become true. Anyway, LouAnn what would you like to ask me?"

Then she asked a question that ... kind of stunned him. Because, you know, he had not been expecting it.
"Werewolves?" he asked, a little cautiously. There had been PLENTTYYAAA debate about it, after that incident last term, and he was not sure he wanted to discuss it. But, oh well, he could always give an opinion, could he not? "They're fine," he said, with a nod. "I know there have been some, in history, that I would rather not know - or be in range of - but a lot of them are good, even amazing people. Like Professor Lupa."
Yupp, that sounded right enough.
Nataly looked at Fyo in surprise, a sudden anger capturing her. Surprisingly, that warm euphoric feeling became even stronger.
Werewolves? Good and amazing people? Something was totally wrong here. A faint memory of her first (and only) Runes lesson, when Lupa was sweet and gave everyone cakes... exept Jake Upstead. This was just a fcade. All the smiles, the cakes, everything. It was just false.
She remembered the letter about the killed Hufflepuff student she and Copernicus found on Bontecou's desk. "Just so you know," she told Fyo, looking at him with a grave expression. "A Hufflepuff girl was killed by a werewolf. They are too dangerous to be kept in Hogwarts." You can just read what was written on the wall by the stone language. She added to herself with irony.

''Do you think i would force you to find answers for my stupid questions?'' he smirked ''Of course i mean you asking a question. Evelyn laughed when she saw him take out a snack from his bag. 'Can't believe it hasn't been smashed yet with the way he treats his bag.' she thought, still chuckling a little. "Alright." Ugh, now she had to think of another question. Hmmm...
Well she had no clue what question to ask. She was just enjoying staring at the fire, and seeing that Josh had a little piece of cake sticking to the corner of his mouth. "Umm, I don't know. Give me a question I can ask. Anything."

Josh threw the last little piece of cake in his mouth and gulped it down happily. ''Now i feel better'' but he could still feel hunger ''Though might be way better if i had more snacks''. He stared at her when she tolfd him to give a question ''C'moon you'r kidding right? Everyone knows girls love divination and there are many gossip questions the'd love to ask. So just spill out one''. Definitely this was true. Most of the times, while he was sneaking in the corridors, he had overheard many girls gossiping and giggling around. ''Just try and search in your mind again and if the result is the same i'll give you an idea. But no idea if no effort'' smirking he looked at the logs then from the corner of his eyes checked if Rose's quill was a sugar quill. It looked like it was not but he wanted to try his chance anyway. ''Is that a sugar quill?'' he asked eagerly moving a little bit towards it and closer to her. Maybe he could snacth it out her grip.

Evelyn sat and thought long and hard on what she could ask. She wasn't really the gossipy girly type though. Well, she was a little... Okay maybe a little more than a little. When Josh spoke about sugar quills though, she looked over at him and moved her pretty white and blue quill away from him. "No. It isn't." she said slightly possessive of it. No way was she eating the only contact she had with her Uncle. Hmph.
"But..." placing her quill down on her lap, she grabbed her bag and opened it, taking out a few small sweets that her parents sent her for Christmas. Homemade by their house elves and never went bad. "You can have these though. They are really good. Promise." Evelyn said, handing over the sweets.
Okay, so a question now. She did have many questions, but none she was willing to ask Josh. Uh so...a gossipy question. What does everyone gossip about? "Umm, does the person I like, like me back?" she asked, trying hard to not make a face at her question. It was just so... there! Was that even a question that was acceptable for a cold reading? She still didn't even know what that was.

''But it looks like one'' he said his eyes still on the quill ''It looks tasty'' anway she said it was not and he had no intent to chew feathers. When his eager expression was about to turn into a frown, the Slytherin girl offered the little but delicious looking sweets which made the boy's face enlighten with gratefulness for Rose as he took them. ''Wow! Thanks! you are a life saver!'' then he hugged her tightly before being busy with unwrapping them. ''And you needed not mention that they were good. There's no possiblity of something you give out can be bad. It's against the laws of nature''
He threw a few of them all together into his mouth as he listened to her speak. She was going to decide on a question right? Yes she was. He watched her as she thought ( he thought possibly she was thinking of a question as he told her to do)then she came up with a uestion which made Josh froze where he stood the first time he heard it. Then she could ask that kind of a question but it was kinda absurd since he thought his ideas about her nearly were close to be obvious. So the question was definitely a big 'YES' that he could tell without a log. What log? He did not need anything to tell that. He opened his mouth to reply but quickly closed it as some other option occured to him in a sudden : What if she was talking about someone else?. Clues : At first she avoided to ask a question about her surroundings, then claimed he and the person who liked him 'if there was one like that' would not be able to stand together. He had not seen her talk to some other guy in a sincere way before anywhere but it did not guarantee it. ''Umm...'' he said ''Nice question. And what about the log?''

Evelyn smiled and laughed when he hugged her, about to hug him back but he was already going for the sweets. 'He better enjoy them...those were my last ones.' Leaning back, she stared at the burned and black log, thinking over Josh's question about it before laughing again. "What about it?"
Smirking slightly, she picked her wand back up and cast a weak incendio at it so the flame wouldn't be so big. "There you go." She place her wand back up her sleeve before stretching out her legs. "Just let the flame go out first though." It wouldn't take long. Maybe a minute or so.

''Nothing'' he replied quickly but blankly since he was still thinking if Rose liked someone else and was asking about him. And if that was the case, what could he read from the log? ''I just wanted to remind you to have one l-'' he did not bother to complete the sentence when he saw her already working on one with a rather happy face. Her expression looked happy or content or both. So she was really wondering the answer for the question. Was it important for her? Possibly but he was also sure that she did bear in mind the idea that this log reading could be a total nonsense. ''This would not be much of a trouble for me'' he said as he took the slighly burning log from her and put it before himself in a ready position for reading. He waited till the flame was gone, as Rose advised, and watched the remained embers move around a little. The movements seemed him like a lively, cheerful ones as they moved around fast and shone brightly or he was deceiving himself since he himself was known with that kind of an attitude. This should have been a 'Yes and he likes you pretty much' but what if it was another boy? Anyway he had to say something again and for both sides him or another boy the answer would be the same. What boy would not like her back? None he thought. At first he nodded ''Did you see the movements before they vanished? They looked nice, fast and tied with each other so i suppose this is a yes''

If she were to tell the truth, she had been staring at him instead of the log. He was much more interesting anyway. "Oh. Yea, I saw." she said hastily, shaking her head and gazing at the log. "So yes?" Smiling she picked a piece of the burned bark off, flicking it to no where in particular. "That's good then." But she wasn't going to just base her information off a log. She wondered if he knew she was talking about him, which made her think of anything that would give her a clue that he liked her back. Well he was always putting his arm around her shoulder, but did he do that to any other girls? She had no clue. And maybe the incident in the courtyard...well she did dare him to kiss her. So maybe he just did that because it was a dare?...hmmm...
"So what now?" she asked, twirling her wand and looking around for Destiny before turning back to Josh. The air seemed slightly tense to her, and it was making her a little uncomfortable. Of course, she just had to feel her face start to warm up again, notifying her of the blush that was coming. 'Ugh, get it together Ev. He's going to think you are sick or something if you keep looking like you have a fever!'
Nataly looked at Fyo in surprise, a sudden anger capturing her. Surprisingly, that warm euphoric feeling became even stronger.

Fyo blinked, not sure why she was... this angry. Of course, he understood that the news of the death must have affected her, but... really. "Humans hurt humans, Nataly," he said with a gentle smile. "That does not make the human-race, at large, a lover of injury. We can not label a group because of the actions of one member. Besides, apportioning blame does no good in the first place." He shrugged and then, pretty sure that this was not where he wanted this conversation to go, said quickly,
"Hey, I think I should ask you a question, first." For the reading, of course. "How about..." Oh yes, he had it! "Will Shana and I continue to be best friends?" With Wood around, it definitely seemed like the days of their friendship were extremely numbered. Eep!

Ummmmm.
".... I can't think of any questions so, just a general reading okay?"
It was only a cold reading after all.
Mina frowned a little, this was going to be a little harder than she thought. But it was a cold reading after all and she really didn't have anything to lose. "As you said you are very smart and pretty. You are quite studious and very approachable. You seem to like the simplest things. You can find the positive in almost anything. When others may find the cold dank dungeon welcoming and the possible dangers of the Willow don't hinder you at all. You have a close knit group of friends that you keep close, but are again approachable to those that want to befriend you as well. You are very loyal to those close to you and you expect the same loyalty of those you hold dear as well."

"That was good!" Celandine encouraged cheerfully. "This cold reading thing isn't so hard. Its what charlatans do, you know? People that have no real abilities in divining stuff, this is the way they make money. They make people think like they know their stuff just by using things they can tell either by looking or by the visual and physical clues their subject gives them."
She was still a little nervous about doing REAL divination though. It was tough when you uncovered things that you were right about which you didn't really want to confront.

Why had she said that out loud?! Livvy glanced around herself to make sure that no one had looked their way after her little outburst. Though no one looked in their direction. They were probably too wrapped up in their own readings.
STUPID. Why did she even ask that? Did she have no self control? Livvy wanted to slap herself for doing so. She could've asked any question in the world! How many children will she have? Will she ever find love? Will she and Reid ever be friends? Will she ever become someone of importance? Will she become a Healer? So many questions! But nooooo, she just HAD to ask that. The most personal question Livvy ever had and the only thing that she bottled up inside herself. Actually there were many things that she bottled up, just people didn't know about it. Ooh whee.
But there was no going back. For Miranda was already preparing herself to do the reading. Sighing, Livvy shifted around on the grass to be seated in a more comfortable position as she braced herself for more disappointment and raised false hopes. Great. Best birthday ever.
How 'bout we don't let you see? Livvy asked anxiously to herself in her mind. She didn't want to do this anymore. This was a horrible idea. And Professor Kapoor was to blame. If he never had come up with this lesson she would never have to come up with that question. Actually no. The person that INVENTED Divination was the one to blame. And... who was that? ... Whoever it was... it was their fault. THEIRS.
Difficult. CH-yahhh.. Her father had been missing for over sixteen years. Livvy didn't think that he was just suddenly going to drop by Hogwarts and say, 'Hey Livvy darling! I'm your daddy! Just came to drop by and say hi.' Yeah. She wishes.
Lost? Why would she EVER want to set out on that path? Even though Livvy wanted to find her father and all, she found it a futile attempt. If her father had wanted to see her, he would've found her already. It wouldn't have taken him sixteen years to find her. He didn't want her.
"Tears?" she reconfirmed with hesitation. She could do without crying. Livvy didn't want anymore sadness or disappointment in her life. She should've forgotten about her father a long time ago. Life with Mari was good now. What was the point?
Just when Livvy felt that it was about time she had given up, Miranda's next words made her perk up and lean in closer. Her face grew brighter and her lips turned up into a small smile. "Really?! So... so... that means... maybe..." Livvy trailed off as she thought, her eyes wide and her lips slightly open. What had she been saying earlier about raising false hopes? Mhm. But Livvy refused to acknowledge that. Just for now. Just for today. She wanted to believe that there was a chance to find her father. She didn't want to demand him of anything. She just wanted to know... why. Why did he marry her mother? Why did he leave them? Why didn't he come back to find her? So many 'whys' and no one to ask them to.
Oh? Smiling weakly, Livvy nodded her head and accepted it. "Frog would be nice. Thanks." She unwrapped the wrapper and popped it into her mouth, feeling loads calmer than before.
Hmmm. One thing was for sure, this whole cold reading thing was way WAY to much for a student their age to handle. Specially when it was about personal questions, like Livvy's.
Miranda's eyes grew wide as the Ravenclaw's did the same. Ofcourse, she knew this was not a professional reading, but the way she sort of sucked in the things Miranda was saying made her think that she was still going to hold onto those words.
And well, even though Livvy had made a pretty accurate reading, with the loneliness and all, Miranda was going to be remembering this day if the events the ravenclaw said, ever came true. Gulp.
At the mention of tears, she had noticed how upset Livvy had seemed and instantly regretted saying that. But it had seemed like tears by the way the log looked. Miranda grimaces slightly, but was happy to see how the ravvie looked more positive at the end of the reading.
But ofcourse, chocolates are made of awesome and they cure anything. Sort of. "Yeah, no problem." Miranda smiled and watched the girl eat before popping her own frog into her mouth.
There was a sort of silence between them as the other students continued with their things. Should she say something? Ask if she was allright...or maybe needed more chocolate? "So...Um, you are a sixth year, right?" she asked curiously. "You must be happy that you only have one year left in school...?" As she waited for a response, Miranda began to doodle a little log thingy on her notebook.

Luckily Carter overheard Mina. Is that what was meant by cold reading? It was just what they did at muggle festivals. "Hey Katlyn. Did you think of a question yet? Or do you want me to just do the reading?"

Seriously what were they supposed to do now? He believed they were all finished with reading logs, though the results were not so satisfiying. ''I don't know'' he replied and looked around to see what the other people were doing to enjoy themselves. Many of them were sitll busy with reading. Then when his eyes were on two Ravenclaws girls, one of them was the kind girl who taught him to do the proper cleaning in the first Potions class, he overheard them talking about the cold reading as they defined it as the method of using body language when making up interpretations like those fake fortune tellers did. This would not be so hard for him as he definitely would support his interpretations with this method if it was a more enjoyable topic they were dealing with. "Body language?" Hmm, she never really thought about interpreting anything while looking at that. She usually just went with instinct. Would that be the same thing? Looking at the burned log in front of her, she suddenly couldn't help but be pulled down into a depressed mood, also semi forgetting that they had already done one reading.
Woah, what was up with her today? She was exceptionally happy when she came down to class....Maybe it was this log stuff. 'Yea, that's what's getting to me.' No clue as to why though, she smiled nonetheless at 'figuring it out', then turned back to Josh. "Do you want to go first?"

"Oh, yeah. I'm a little worried about that, too, since this is also my first year at Hogwarts," she admitted. "I was home-schooled before now, so I've never really had much formal training...just my first two years of school." Enough of the background history, though. "I've heard that they throw some really tricky questions at you on those OWL tests. You know, just when you think you know it all, they come up with something different to ask you!"
She shrugged then thought about what she'd like to ask. Her first question, the one she'd thought of at the beginning of class, was one hundred percent out of the question. She needed something simple and not too personal. Hmm... "What about...will I ever get to graduate from Hogwarts, or will my family decide to move again?" asked.

''Me first? With the body language stuff?'' he shrugged ''I think i can but i find it rather pointless to interpret from body language when the person before you knows you'll do it. You do it by observing acts which are done unconsciously. And if you know that i'd try doing it, you can control your moves. So what's the point?'' he smirked. Finally there was something he could confidenlty comment on. ''You know stuff like: when someone plays with his or her hair while talking to the opposite gender, it means she or he is interested in that person. Or people look away while they are telling a lie. Those are rubbish. Well...sometimes they work but changes from person to person and from mood to mood'' he fell silent when he realised that he was babbling too much again like a Ravenclaw ''Eh, sorry. I was just trying to tell that we cannot do it properly in this circumstances. They cannot do it either''

Evelyn had to fight back the smile. He was talking and acting like a Ravenclaw again. But unable to hold it back, her little smile appeared along with a small giggle that escaped. 'Where did that come from?' Shaking her head slightly, she looked down and picked a piece of grass. "I get what you mean." She did, really, but now what were they supposed to do. "So, what now? Again..." Watching the remaining fire on the other logs, she almost went off to dreamland again before snapping out of it. 'Staring into fire, not good.'

Once she began eating the chocolate, Livvy felt loads better. And much more relaxed. She breathed in and out, glancing around at the other students as they gave their own cold readings. They shouldn't be doing this. It was WRONG. Giving out false hopes and most likely false readings. But Livvy couldn't help but actually believe the reading that Miranda gave her. It was something that Livvy wanted to happen and believe.
Mhhmmm? Livvy glanced back over at Miranda when she spoke up once more. "Yeah. Sixth year. You?" she asked, smiling gently, though not as brightly that it used to be. "Mhm. Sort of. But I'll miss this place. I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do after I leave."

Miranda thought she was doodling a log, but infact, she drew a picture of a...What was that? Bah! She'll probably figure it out later. She did watch as Livvy turned to her and answered. "I'm a fourth year..." Miranda had a thin smile on her lips. The huffie wondered what the sixth year thought of having been partnered with a much younger student. Specially with the theme of the class, cold readings, it was probably pretty weird. Imagine having a little kid read your future.
Oh, she knew what Livvy meant. Miranda had three years until she graduated and she was already missing Hogwarts. She couldn't imagine not going here. Sure, that future was there somewhere, but to her, it seemed unreachable. "Well, you still have one more year left," Miranda answered after thinking about the comment for a moment. "You'll probably find out then. So...many things can happen...in a year." she finished, looking down at her notebook. Alot could impact in one year, imagine what could occur in four... Ugh... She got a scrunchy feeling in her stomach and decided another chocolate frog would cure it. Unwrapping one, she shoved it into her mouth and reached out her hand to the Ravenclaw with another.

Josh gazed her face without any reason, just somethnig made him stare like that. Then, then he started to remember something. Somethnig important that he had forgotten months ago 'Baaaaaaaaaaaaah!' he did not give her the present he bought for her for christmas. ''I forgot to give you...'' he said unaware that his answer had nothing to with her question. Quickly he opened his bag and started to dig inside. Maybe it could be in there somewhere as he thought. He had to try his chance maybe at least he could find something to remind him where he put the packet.

"Forgot to give me? What?" shaking her head, curious as to what he was up to, she flicked a piece of bark that she pulled off the log to no where in particular. 'Hmm, maybe this class isn't so bad.' Leaning back on her hands again, she stared at Josh who was looking for something in his bag.
Kay watched Marie and waitted for her to go on. "Marie are you going to help me finish this?" Kay asked looking into her fire and wishing for more marshmallows.

''The dragon i bought for you'' ups...he had said what it was before she could get it 'Stupid, stupid'. And of course it was not anywhere in his bag. Too big to fit in. Probably the gift was lying under his bed in the Gryffindor Boys' Dormitory. ''Sorry...i ruined everything'' he apologised and threw the bag aside staring into what remained from the fire before before them.
