"Okay." Celandine was slightly relieved by this and she wrote down her question (was it going to be a nice day tomorrow?) and finished her drawing quickly.

She raised her hand to answer. "Professor, a cold reading is when you use interpretations of the subject's body language and visual clues to express details in order to convince the subject that you know more than you do when doing a reading, by like, using the Forer effect." She eyed the burning logs. "Or you know, in this case, if we let the fire go out, it could be a literal, cold reading."

You could never tell with Professor Kapoor.

"Sir, I think it when one trys to express details about someone in order to convince them that you know more about the subject than you really do." Kay said. She wasn't all that sure she was right on this one. But that is what she had read.

"Very good, Miss Toussaint. A point for Ravenclaw and thinkfast!" He said, tossing a soft white puff of marshmallow towards her. "Anyone else?".

"Good, Miss Evans. A point for Hufflepuff and a treat as well." He said handing her another fresh marshmallow from the bag.

"Precisely. And precisely what we'll be doing today." Of all the forms of divination Kapoor was least fond of scrying. It was this unfondness for it that had lead him to avoid it for the past several years or so. Though, he supposed touching on the subject once in a decade wouldn't hurt. "So, students. My always brilliant and eager students, today you will be trying your hand at performing a cold reading upon your fellow classmates. To do this you will need to find someone to pair up with. You both are to each take a turn asking a query and trying to determine an answer or outcome for that query using the techniques often applied in cold readings." Having made the biggest marshmallow kabob he could have possibly made, Kapoor moved over to the center of the space once more to roast it. He remembered that he had no fire and no wand and so he used Tibi's roaring pit which he was closest to at the time.

Cold reading... A technique used by fraudulent "psychics" everywhere, apparently. Kiri wondered how it was going to be different for witches and wizards. If there really was a difference. Divination didn't make sense to her a lot of the time, but she felt that she'd be on safer ground with cold reading. There was a basis to it that she could logically comprehend. Not that that meant being any good at it - deciphering another person's body language was difficult to begin with (at least for Kiri), and then pretending to know more than that? Tough.

"Anyone in need of a partner?" she called out as her classmates began fanning out around her, in search of someone to practise the cold reading on. Watching the big fire and wondering to herself just what a cold reader would make of her body language if she began cartwheeling through the room, she waited for someone interested in teaming up with her to come over.

Nataly started drawing one of the woods in her fire. She didn't know why she chose it, but it just looked familiar to her.
After she finished, she laid her drawing near all the others.

She listened to Pfrofessor Kapoor when he directed the students to pair up. Work in pairs? Not again. she thought with annoyance. With her mood... you can expect anything.
She sighed, and looked up from her fire. "Does anyone need a partner?" she asked, looking as if it was the last thing she wanted to do that moment.

Constantine had made himself busy was perching his butt on a non-lit log and popping marshmallows in Roma's direction. He liked to laugh at the way she licked at the rough of her mouth to get all the marshmallows. After eating one of his own, he looked around again to make sure that no one was close to starting a forest fire.

Winnie was properly bewildered, and trying not to look so; and failing spectacularly. She liked Prof. Kapoor very much, and liked the ...well, idea of Divination as a whole, but as for aptitude? Not so much. Still, she braved through.

She waved at Kiri. "I am. Also, I need a brain for Divination if you've got one."

Kay looked around the little campfires and Hope to find a partern. "Hey, does anyone want to partern up?" Kay asked looking back into her fire and putting the marshmallow on one of her sticks. She put it into the fire and watched it cook. "Thanks Professor I love marshmallows." Kay said smiling at him. "So anyone up to doing this with me?"

Fyo capped his inkpot; lay aside, per instructions, his rather rough drawing; and glanced around. Working in twos was no new concept, but it was certainly a painful reminder of the times he had paired up with Torin, to execute a bit of class-work, or a homework assignment.

Forget that, he told himself firmly, as he glanced at Nataly. He had seen her around before, but did not know her personally, but oh, who cared about that? New friendships were... GOOOOOD! "Want to partner up?" he asked her, with a small but definitely polite smile.

Marie finished her drawing then looked around for a partner and noticed Kay did not have one yet. "I need a partner Kay, you wanna work together?" Marie had no clue how to do this assignment so she wanted to try it with someone she knew. Hopefully working with someone she knew would make it easier for her to do their reading.

Evelyn had no clue what everyone was talking about. 'Something about a cold reading? What the heck is that?' She had been too busy staring at the log, she barely noticed anyone talking until she heard the Professor to partner up. 'Eh, partners.' she looked over at Destiny, ready to move over to her when she spotted Josh as well. She hadn't been his partner in awhile, but she also wanted to partner with Destiny.

Thinking it over, she decided to just sit where she was. Whoever got to her first, or anyone for that matter, she'll just group with them. Drawing random doodles on the top of her page, dragons again of course, she waited for whatever to come next.

"Good someone I know." Kay said smiling at Marie. "Yes, lets give it a go." Kay pulled her marshmallow out of the fire it see if it was done. "I'm not sure if I know how to do this but I'm sure we will work it out.'

Lexi looked aroung and said, "Does someone want to work with me?"

Nataly turned around when she heard a voice near her, and saw a boy from Gryffindor, Fyo. She saw him on some lessons, but they never talked.
"Yes, no problem." she answered, looking a bit glum. She was sure he'll notice how unenthusiastic she was, but of course he didn't know the reason. He didn't see what she and Copernicus did to the stone gargoyle and corridor near it. At least we didn't get caught. she thought reassuringly, and tried to smile at Fyo.

Now that she was thinking about the instructions a little more carefully, they did not make a lot of sense. Kiri understood the idea behind cold reading, sure, but at what point in the process was she supposed to use it to coax out additional information from whoever it was she was talking to? It was frustrating!

Still trying to figure this out, she didn't even notice at first that another student had joined her. Kiri glanced up in surprise. Uh oh. The girl had a Prefect's badge attached to her robes. Kiri hastily did some internal rearranging. Showing annoyance over a task during a lesson in front of a Prefect probably wasn't such a good idea.

To her relief, the girl didn't seem to have more of a clue than Kiri. Comforting, but not, as such, helpful in the circumstances. "Great," she said with a smile, gesturing for the girl to sit down. "I, er, have a brain, but it's still attached to my body, unfortunately. I'm kind of using it and everything. But you're welcome to share it!" She lowered her voice. "We won't be very successful with it, though. I don't really know what we're supposed to do!" she murmured urgently. "Any idea how this works?"

'Partners! Great!' Now this class was getting as enjoyable as he expected it to be. Now he had to find a partner which should be so hard since he regarded himself a precious one in the classes regarded interpretation like this one. Standing up he looked around and smiled contently when his eyes spotted Rose who was busy with her parcment. ''HEY ROSE!'' he yelled out from inside the group of Gryffindors to the Slytherins one ''GIRL YOU ARE MINE!'' then ignoring the class he lauged out loudly

'Oh please tell me he's not going to shout the entire time.' Wincing as she was suddenly startled and making her draw a huge line across her parchment as she jumped, Evelyn turned to look at Josh, raising a brow. "Alright then! Come over here!" she yelled back, smiling, before turning back to her drawings. Her...ruined...drawings. *sigh* Oh well, she would just have to draw new ones. 'Yes, come over to the Slytherin side.' she thought, making her laugh.

Carter realized he had been staring off into space. Fire had that effect on him. He hadn't even thought up a question yet. He quickly wrote down a question. "Will everything work out between my friends and I?" It had bothered him that he couldn't be with all his friends at once. He felt like his time was divided. But, if this didn't have a good answer then he and Rafe were working on their own. Before he knew it people were calling out for partners. Stupid fire. Maybe he should change his question to "Will I ever be able to pay attention in divination?" He looked around for anyone willing to partner with him. Hopefully someone that had been paying attention.

What. EEEEP. So fast.

Livvy blinked as she suddenly found herself in the midst of students shuffling around asking for partners for the next practice, which she hadn't been quite listening to. Sorry Professor Kapoor. Sighing, she glanced around searching for a partner. Why did she always find herself searching for a partner? Partner hunting was just UNCOOL. "Does anyone wanna be my partner?!" Livvy yelled out, flinging her hands into the air.

''Okay!'' he yelled back, with a lower voice this time, when the respond came from Rose. And he stuffed his parcment, book and quill into his bag, closed it making his way towards the group of Slytherins. 'Snakey, snakey! Hehe!'. Once he was near her he threw his bag next to her and sat down on it grinning at her face. He definitely was so happy and energetic today. ''Here i am, sweet!''

"Erm, I'll partner with you if you like", Herminny said smiling.

Alexandra smiled and said, "Sure, that would be lovely. Have we met? I'm Alexandra Kennedy. I know it's a mouth full so you can call me Alexa if you'd like."

"Great, I'm not really sure what we are doing either, guess we will learn together then." Marie sat down next to Kay "So do I ask you a question or do you tell me the question you want to know?" 'How will Kay know if I am going to pass potions?' Marie thought as she remembered the question she had put on her parchment and the picture she had drawn.

"Um mabe, so Alexa it is, I'm Herminny by the way. So do you want to ask me a question first or shall I ask you?".
