Look who's talking, you rule breaker. she thout darkly. After completely ruining the stone gargoyle and painting a huge graffity in the corridor near it, making fire would be an easy and safe task. She sighed again. At least she didn't get caught. "Incendio!" she said the incantation, pointing her wand at the fire pit. A little fire appeared on it, and warmed her. Quote:

He looked around and realised that while the others were sitting according to houses he was staying somewhere between different ones. Laughing at himself he made his way towards the group of Gryffindor students and he did so he took his chance to stare at the Slytherin group where he saw Rose and Destiny sitting together, as he expected. ''Hi, guys'' he greeted his fellow housemates and sat before an empty pile of wood. Incendio was an easy work for him, the salamander scale core was working for it. So he took out his wand and slowly murmured ''Incendio'' pointing it to the pile and it flared up in a sudden. ''Wow! Hush! Slow down!'' he instinctively blew at the fire which of course was not one of the reasons that helped his fire become smaller and suitable for the work. It did happen itself as he kept blinking at it. Now what he was supposed to do was picking up a question and look for the answer. But how were they going to do that? Professor Kapoor had not explained what signs we were to see on the logs would mean what. Nevertheless he wanted to have a quick try and closed his eyes to pick up a question. 'Will i be able to see my sister again?' Then opening his eyes, he wrote this on a piece of parchment and spotted a log which was not fully in flames, yet and with a nod to himself he held it from a side and pulled out the fire to gave a look at to interpret something. He was going to interpret something if the log had not started burning in a sudden the moment he pulled it out. The little shiny dark red ember got bigger and bigger and started to swallow the whole branch so acting quick Josh threw the last 5 cms of it into the fire to pretend his hand from burning. ''Thank you, Xylomancy. I think i'm going to enjoy reading logs'' he murmured to himself. |
Kay looked into her fire and started to think about what her qeustion would be. It was hard to think that looking at wood would give you an answer. Kay looked at the others and sighed. She took out her parchment and quill and started writing. SPOILER!!: Question Kay sat and watched the fire. She tried to pick out the pictures that iot showed her. Kay started to write something down and wondered if she was doing this right. |
Alexandra raised her wand, pointed it at the logs in front of her and said, "Incendio". To her amazement a little fire popped up and the logs started to crackle with the flames. She pulled out her parchment and quill and wrote the following question: Quote:

Lyddia watched the embers of the fire as she asked a single question, "Will things work out for me?" She strained to see a difference in the flame and saw that it was moving in an impossible manner. Hmm. Lyddia wrote her observation down and kept looking at the flame for something else. |
Tori pointed her wand at the fire pit and with a clear, even voice she said the incantation, "Incendio!" There it was, a fire, blazing before her. She looked at it curiously. Then she asked quietly, "Will I be a good wizard?". SHe scribbled down the question. Tori sat and waited for some sign from the burning embers, nestled in the centre of the fire. |

Whaa? One minute, LouAnn was casually glancing over at Roma, watching her play with some Hufflepuff girl LouAnn had never met. The next minute, however, a thousand and one questions had been asked, and LouAnn hadn't answered a single one. Nice going, Purple. Not really thinking about what she was doing, LouAnn raised her hand into the air, realizing only a second too late that no question had been asked. She lowered her hand and glanced around at her classmates. "Pst! Mr. Masterson! Mr. Masterson!" she whispered. Well, he was here to help, right? There was certainly an S.O.S. situation going on right over here. The kid next to her casted incendio, so LouAnn did, too. When she had a fire good and blazing, she glanced around to figure out she was supposed to write something down. Hmm... Did I...do what I think I did? Will I ever find out for sure? There. Two questions for the good ole fire to answer. With that done, LouAnn was only left to wonder...why didn't she get a marshmallow? So unfair. Maybe, though, she should have tried to answer one of those thousand and one questions that had been asked... |
Marie sat there staring at the fire for a minute debating what she wanted to ask. Thinking of soemthing at last she wrote: Will I pass potions class? Marie did not particularly like potions, well actually it was more the professor she was not fond of, so she didn't have a very good feeling about that class. She sat there watching the fire to see if she could see any sign of anything. |
Upon hearing the instruction Fred had an inquiry. He thought and wrote, 'Will the Herbology professor get what she deserves?'. He stared into the fire and stared into it. Some flames were fairing up but what on Earth did it mean, this seemed so pointless. |
Chris walked over to one of the fire pits and pulled out his wand. He pointe dit at the pit and said, "Incendio." The logs in it caught fire. he sat down beside it and thought of a question. "Will I get good scores on my O.W.L.'s?" Now he had to watch. |
Ellie popped a marshmallow into her mouth as she wondered what to ask the log. She didn't have any important life inquires she needed the log to divine, but she did need to do the assignment. After a few minutes, she closed her eyes and thought, "Will me parents get me a crup?" It was somewhat trivial, but it was the best she could think of. She started doodling the log, but wasn't quite sure what she needed to look for. She ended up drawing a horizontal cylinder with sqiggles shooting out from the top. Ellie was not much of an artist, nor did she have the slightest clue of what she was looking for in the flames. |
Quickly writing down a question on a piece of parchment, Jake stared at what the others were doing and scratched the top of his head with the feathered end of his quill. His question was kind of stupid when he thought about how he couldn't even light a fire to check it, and the boy edged towards LouAnn. "Psssst, LouAnn," he whispered, though maybe he didn't need to. "I need... ffffire," he explained, pointing at the log in front of him. On his parchment, just visible, was his question: Quote:

"Okay," the boy nodded quietly, stealing a quick glance at LouAnn's parchment, though not long enough to see if there was even anything visble, and sat watching the log. |
Um. Um. Okay.... Without a word or a curious glance at the professor, Livvy made her way towards one of the fire pits with her wand held out in the grasp of her hands. "Incendio!" she shouted the incantation and flames emerged from the logs. She stared into it, thinking of all the questions that had gone through her head. Where was her birth father? Would Reid ever forgive her or had he already? Would anyone remember that it was her birthday that day? Biting her lip, Livvy pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill. As she stared at the licking fiery red flames. Where was her birth father? That was the question that mattered the most to her. She continued to stare into the flames, searching for any detail that she could actually interpret. |
Nia chose her log and cast incendio. As she watched it become more...responsive...as Professor Kapoor had said, Nia nibbled the inside of her lip as she thought about what question to ask. If truth be told, Nia didn't really trust the whole idea of divination, and thus didn't want to ask a burning question incae she was disappointed in the answer she got. But at the same time, asking a trivial question would defeat the object and maybe she'd just get some wishy-washy uninterpretable answer. In the end she settled for an inbetween question. One that she cared about, but at the same time had some kind of idea about. And she was going to view the answer completely objectively. SPOILER!!: Nia's Question And still chewing on her tongue, Nia sat and watched the log intently. Her left hand held a pencil, ready to sketch what she saw. |
Celandine wasn't... questions... She chewed her lip nervously. Every question she wanted to ask was a question that she was afraid of hearing the answer to. She looked at Professor Kapoor helplessly. |
Kat walked over to a fire pit and took out her wand. "Incendio" she said as she pointed her wand at the fire pit. She watched the fire as she thought of a question. "Hmmm..." she said to herself. Not knowing what to ask she wrote down the first question that came to mind. 'Will I ever see my mom again?' She watched the fire as it got bigger and bigger. |
Thank goodness there was to be fire. Emily rubbed her gloved hands together in an attempt to warm them then reached for her wand, closed one eye and took aim casting incendio. She watched the logs burst into flames with some satisfaction and then just kept watching, trying to think up a question and wondering how they were to interpret what the log was tying to...um.. say? Okay.. so question. She closed her eyes as if making a wish.. 'Am I destined to spend the rest of my days living at home and looking after my dad.' Morbid. Yeah. She opened her eyes and stared at the log. What was she looking for here? You could see lots of images and patterns in there if you looked hard enough but it was a little like looking at the shapes clouds formed... only these were angry looking shapes. She shrugged and began to sketch (rather badly) her log and the few patterns she could see. |
Erm, okay. The instructions were easy enough to follow. And he'd keep any awkward questions to himself. Snatching several marshmallows and stuffing them into his jeans, Terry trundled into his own little area and dumping his log down. WOOHOO. Fire-making time. Which required both a wand, and knowing the correct incantation. Dragging said wand out of his pockets was easy enough, though the second part ...not so much. Craning around to sneakily watch the others were doing, he caught strains of various spells being murmured. INCENDIO. Of course, it sounded about right. Flicking his wand with a little more gusto at the log stump than was strictly necessary, he quickly muttured the incantation, extremely pleased with himself when it caught alight. And now for the all important question. Clicking his teeth together to himself thought, he lazily scrawled the first question that popped into his mind: 'Do I have the most perfectly kept hair in Hogwarts or what?' Huh, maybe a little pointless considering he already knew the answer to that one. But there was absolutely no harm in just having it confirmed, eh? And by a log, too. As the orangey flames flickered and crackled, Terry squinted, peering at the embers being thrown every which way. Erm. WELL, they were trying to tell him something alright. Maybe if he just sat there staring at the prettily, they're sort themselves out and tell him what he needed to know? Maybe. |
Tibi looked up at Kapoor skeptically before shrugging and looking to his logs. "Incendio," he said softly with a jab. The first that caught was small, but enough. Tibi hadn't seemed to notice yet, but his confidence with his spells was related to how well they turned out. He just needed to figure that out and fix it, but who knew how long that would take. Looking into the fire as it grew, Tibi wondered what he should ask. He looked up at Kapoor, remembering the last time he'd seen the professor and remembering that there was that one thing he couldn't remember. It was a question always at the front of his mind, and so now, being asked to think of something to ask, it was the only thing there. Scrawling it down on the parchment, Tibi looked upward, before closing his eyes and sighing. The crumpled parchment in his hand read Quote:

Cela raised her hand a bit desperately. "Professor can I ask a question that has nothing to do with me? Can I ask one like... about the weather or something?" |
Hearing someone speak, Evelyn was brought out of her 'trance' like state from staring at the fire, and she looked around. 'Woah, what happened? Oh yea...fire...daydreaming. Need to pay attention.' Nodding to herself, she started to think of a question she could ask, something that would be useful to her. Hmm...'Will I ever be normal again?' Well, the question made sense to her, even if no one else knew what was going on. Writing down her question on the parchment, she turned her attention back to the fire...wait no...the log. No staring into the fire. Unless she wanted to just start daydreaming again, but that didn't seem like a good idea at the moment. |
Ken watced everyone toss paper into the fire and make wishes? He ripped a piece of paper and scrawled quickly with his pen then tossed the paper into the fire. What he asked was pretty much the same question he asked everyday but it could hurt to ask one more time. Quote:

Kapoor saved a stick for himself and was starting to create a marshmallow kabob with it as he walked about the classroom to check on the students and help monitor the flames. "Nice work! Nice work students! Now, once you've gotten done with your pictures, I'm going to ask you to lay them asides so that they can dry. We'll be using them later for the homework assignment." The fluffy white marshmallow made a thin little pricking noise as Kapoor threaded it with the roasting stick. If only he hadn't lost his wand. He could engorgio the thing and make the longest row of marshmallows Hogwarts had ever seen. "Purple? Did you already eat your marshmallow?" He had made the rounds earlier with the bag and either she did not get one or she'd gotten one and woofed it down before he could notice. Quote:
Kapoor tapped the outer edge of his index finger to his bottom lip as he pondered this query. "Of course you may. But, I should mention that the activity shall be easier to conduct if you chose a very simple question that has a yes or a no answer to it." "Can anyone volunteer and answer for the class as to what a 'cold reading' is?" He asked the class. |
