Marcus chuckled softly at Tibi's comment. "Like Jack said I don't think they would have been true Banshee's otherwise poor Miss Warbeck would have run out of fans."

Thank Merlin, his band had never decided to use back up singers. "Alright that will three points to each of you who gave an answer. The Banshee has a very high pitched squeal that will kill those who hear it. And as was said the only way to destroy a Banshee is to break her neck the moment she closes her eyes to start shrieking. Now you would want to be quick if that is what you choose to do otherwise i would suggest get well away from her."

Lawson, hoisted himself up onto his desk and swung his legs back and forth. "Alright let's move onto the next Dark Creature or I should say 'magical being.' Vampires. Raise your hand and tell me what you know about Vampires?"

"Vampires are known for biting people's necks and sucking their blood," Rafe answered. Rafe was beginning to catch the trend of today's lesson. "They're skin is pale and they have sharp teeth. I think they also have had a bad reputation, they're not all bad. I met a few when I went to a couple of Quidditch matches in Bulgaria! They have a lot of prejudice against them and are classified as Beings."

Jack raised his hand again and replied, 'Vampires are humans that have been transformed by being bitten by another vampire, then drinking that vampire's blood. Vampires live on blood, preferably human, but they can drink the blood of animals. Vampires can't taste or digest regular food. Sunlight is harmful to a vampire, so they are creatures of the night. Vampires can be killed by fire or beheading.'

Grinning, Miranda kept on writing down the answers that she and others had said. Her hand was slightly cramping up, but she couldn't wouldn't stop!
Instead, she raised her hand
"Mr Lawson, the vampires are probably the most popular beings among stories... They are classified as Beings, because they are not considered to be either creatures or wizards. And they do not show as that much danger to everyone - though many people oppose them. They tend to suck...peoples blood with their fangs..." again, Miranda grimaced.

Fyo raised his hand, once more. "They're creatures, professor," he began quickly, "That feed on the life-essence of other living creatures, have a love for blood, and are often characterized by pale features. The vampire is said to have no reflection, and usually possesses a terror of stakes - hawthorn or ash, mostly - which can be fatal to it. Vampires don't exactly like garlic, either, and it can be used to ward them off."

Livvy raised her hand to answer the Professor's next question, this time, more wearily. "Vampires are pale beings that have sharp teeth that are known for biting the necks of people and sucking their blood. At this moment, they're not known to be much of a threat to the Wizarding community," she said, nodding her head. Simple enough. No need to add more to it. Unless you wanted to get into the history... but history was just..... boring. No offense to Truebridge.

kay thought about this for a while. 'what do I know about vampires?' "Professor I think that vampires drink blood to live and only, well mostly come night at night time. Also, that they have heightened senses." Kay said. "that they can only be killed by a wooden stack, the sun, and some say holy water." Kay had read about them but didn't know if all the information was true.

Evelyn grimaced and shivered at the 'break her neck' part. Bringing up unwanted memories was not something to do at the moment. Raising her hand, she was just about to answer about vampire when someone else spoke before her. 'Well, that's pretty much all i know.' she thought, lowering her hand and continuing with her drawings, now moving on to drawing banshees before something came to mind. "Aren't blood-flavored lollipops made pretty much for there use? I mean...who would actually eat those besides a vampire? Just saying..." It was probably way off topic from what they were discussing, but everyone else already said everything about them.

Tibi frowned and furrowed his brow. The book he'd read had said banshees. But he believed Lawson, so the frown was more about the lying book. He hated when books didn't tell the truth.

So when Lawson asked about Vampires, Tibi sat on his hands, not wanting to say anything, lest those other books lied to him, too.

Tino frowned. "Are we talking vampires, or vampire lore, Professor?," he wondered aloud. "Because I could tell you lots about what people say about vampires. . . they sleep in coffins during the day, they live forever, they can turn into bats, sunlight kills them, they have no reflection, blah-dee blah-dee blah. What's real and what's myth? I've never met one myself." He leaned back in his desk. Werewolves they usually covered early in DADA. Vampires had never been addressed--not in Tino's seven years here.

Destiny raised her hand 'Umm, they suck your blood and I think they live in coffins. Yeah, weird. Are they really afraid of garlic?' Destiny knew she would never want to get close enough to one of them.

Becca quite liked the tales she heard as a little kid of vampires, it had always sent a cool shiver down her spine.

Mina busied herself jotting down everything she heard during the lesson so far. Dark Creatures. That was an interesting topic. Vampires[ Now that topic sounded interesting. Yes, they were dark and dangerous, but intriguing at the same time. She raised her hand slowly. "Vampires are thought to live off feeding on the life essence of living creatures and are usually associated with Romania and Transylvania. According to Russian folklore, vampires were thought to have been witches or people who had rebelled against the Church while they were alive. But the Ministry of Magic regulates them and are classified as non-wizard part-humans." What else could she say? Blinking and looking up from her parchment, she raised her hand again. "Um...I think I read somewhere that centaurs are opposed to vampires as well."

"Vampires are called beings, as they aren't wizards and they're not creatures either. But, from what I know, they are pretty smart, and they are kinda humanish, so why aren't they wizards? Is it just because the Ministry doesn't want them to have wands? They suck people's blood, and they don't agree with sunlight. Because of this, they are pale, night dwelling creatures who usually live in forests. To repel them, fire or light are good, and you can't really run, can you? I heard that vampires are really fast, so that'd kind of not work... Apparently, garlic also protects you from them, an a stake through the heart area knocks em off. And when someone is bitten, does that make them a vampire? Or is it when the blood is sucked?"

That was probably a bit too long, but she'd read a lot about them. She hoped she hadn't gone too far off topic, and had been relatively understandable.

Vampires. Adrienne listened to everything the other students were saying, and then something hit her. Something from one of her many explorations in her grandmother's library. Raising her hand, she spoke again. "Professor, isn't it true that some wizards have actually been able to live amongst vampires. Or at least, there's at least one wizard, Eldred Worple, who wrote a book saying he did. And in the stories, didn't he bring a vampire to Hogwarts once for a party? So while they do drink blood, and probably a lot of the other myths about them may have some basis in reality, couldn't they actually almost be more of a dangerous being? Not really dark, per se, since they really only attack us for sustenance. At least a lot of them." Since it was highly possible there could be some who attack just to attack, just like there are wizards who attack just for the entertainment value. At which point she started remembering the history of magic class when they'd discussed dark wizards and what qualified them as such.

Isabella was sitting in the DADA class and quietly listening to the entire question answer session in the class on Dark creatures.she was writing very fast so that she could cover the points which ther rest of the class was saying.they were done with Banashee,inferi and now they were on Vampires...

Evan realised he had literally zoomed out whilst listening to the dark creatures with nasty images of his brain. Just ew and aaa. Of course he'd run away as fast as possible if he was to come across one. He would never just hex them and then get away coolly. Anyways. To answer the next.

"They suck blood, they're pale and... they can move fast, while their senses are extremely powerful?" Was that from a novel he had read or reality, he wasn't sure.

Raising his hand again, Jake decided to chance his answer again. "Kazimeriz."

See, his logic was, if he repeated the same thing over and over again, it HAD to be right.

Lyra sat in her chair and watched as Professor Lawson hoisted himself on his desk, swinging his legs back and forth. She surpressed a chuckle seeing the scene and raised a arm in the air to answer his question.
"Vampires are very pale and gaunt looking for they can't stay in the sunlight. They must walk around every night forever. They have sharp teeth and they suck the blood of a mortal to either fee/kill them or make them one of their own. I think the ways to "kill" a vampire is with a wooden cross..or a stake or with sunlight? i'm not sure. And there was something about garlic too, don't you use garlic to keep the vampires away?" she asked and continued "And i also heard from a muggle friend (yes a Slytherin with a muggle friend) that they have no reflection. " she stopped speaking and lowered her arm down. "Oh yea and they are extremely fast" she added remembering something else. Mweh she hoped she had it right....

Josh smiled as the class discussed Inferi and they could be best repelled by fire magic ''So, you should stand close to me while Inferis are around'' he whispered to Rose ''It turned out that i have a lot of fire magic with a salamander wand'' he winked at her and kept listening the class who now was talking about Banshees. So they looked like a woman with long dark hair, hmm, sounded beautiful but he doubted it since their face was green then he laughed when he heard their scream could kill ''I think every girl can kill with their scream''. He fell silent once they were talking about Vampires and everybody giving out their ideas about vampires which made him remember the gothic vampire studies when he was going to Muggle School.

''Sir!'' he spoke out loud ''I heard from the Muggle sources that Vampires could only be killed by a silver weapon and can be repelled with garlic. But since i dont regard killing a nice thing to perform, i think the best defending against Vampires could be garlic bomb!'' he laughed ''If these are true of course.''

"Vampires!" Samson piped up, grinning. "I used to love this show about a vampire detective. And it was funny, too, because the show's about a vampire, but the title is Moonlight, and as far as I know moonlight is always associated with werewolves. Hah. Yeaahhh..." he trailed off, thoughtful, and then snapped back to reality.

"Oh. Anyway, as far as I know, vampires are mostly night creatures. They can't go out in sunlight or else they burn up or something. They don't have reflections, they can sniff out other vampires, they drink human blood by piercing holes in their victim's necks with their fangs and suck out the blood. They can be repelled by garlic, paralyzed by wooden stakes to the heart, holy water, running water, butterflies, and other stuff I can't remember.

"My favorite thing about them, also from watching shows about them, is how passionate and romantic they are, when they're not trying to kill you. Heh."
