Hmmmmmm....

"Sir," Miranda raised her hand again, "A dark creature is made with dark magic, such as the Inferi...Which the creator had bad intentions for making them. But a dangerous creature is like any other beast who might be dangerous to people, like a dragon. The Minsitry classify those dangerous creatures with lots of X:es..." She trailed off, hoping she had made any sense.

Nikki went to work copying down the other creatures the class had said, and raised her hand. "Sir, with werewolves, they aren't entirely dark, are they? Especially because they never had the choice to become what they are, right? So, they're not dark, unless their like Fenrir Greyback, or something??"

Before she forgot, she might as well ask, "Sir, is this just going to be theory today? Or will we get to, I dunno, meet and see some Dark Creatures, or maybe do some defensive spells??"

That'd be cool. The first year was really itching to use her wand, though it'd be kinda freaky going up against these mega nasty creatures.

Hn? Dangerous vs Dark?

"Well, if a creature is dangerous, is has a bunch of Xs that the Ministry uses to tell us how destructive it can be. Usually, these a creatures like Dragons, who mind their own business, but can become mega nasty if they are provoked. Dark creatures are just evil, though. Like Dementors, they suck happiness away. They are usually associated with bad things such as that. Vampires are associated, with the dark and sucking blood and all."

Okaaay. That was SO not good grammar. (Not like that was either :p) But, it was a shot, nonetheless, right?

Yayyy... points. Happily, Livvy raised her hand once more to answer the professor's next question. "Professor, I guess the difference between a dark creature and between a dangerous creature, is that dark creatures intend to create harm upon another for no particular reason. While... dangerous creatures can create much harm only when they have a reason to. If there isn't a reason to defend themselves, they usually just go about their lives," she explained. That... seemed about right.

Cela raised her hand again.

"Well, Dark creatures are all magical, they don't have a regular life cycle, like they don't get born and die the same as other creatures and they are more of a physical manifestation of an evil intention than a natural creature, and they harm and hurt other living things simply to cause hurt."

Textbook. Of course, Cela remembered all that from Kazimeriz. She looked around expectantly. There were stiiill some creatures that hadn't been mentioned.

Copernicus added to his answer (because he could). "Professor, my understanding is that Dark Creatures were created through magical purpose and do not live a natural life cycle. They live with the intent to cause harm. Dangerous creatures, however, are dangerous for purposes of survival. A dragon might attack you, but it is because you have invaded its turf or you are food."

Pff... stupid Tavelon thought, pulling out a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Of course. How'd he get those mixed up?

"Oops. Sorry, professor" he said, turning rather red. "But still, aren't Runespoor's somewhat Dark? Not as much as Basilisks, but still, they're dangerous and supposedly dark wizards like them." Hopefully he wasn't completely off again...

Evelyn sat back in her seat, mumbling to herself. "Well they should be considered dark creatures..." Acromantulas...evil evil little...well 'BIG' things. Having eight legs should be enough to consider it dark! Even if that made no sense. Huffing in annoyance, she listened to all the answers about dark vs. dangerous. Of course, ninety percent of the answers coming from ravenclaw.

'Yikes, slytherin needs to get some more points.' she thought, leaning forward suddenly so she could sit up straight and actually pay attention. Glancing at Destiny for a split second, she had to look a second time to see if that was really her. "Are you okay?" Evelyn whispered to her, concern written all over her face. "You look like your about to run out of the room or faint or something."

"Not today Ella" he said giving the girl a smile. Lawson, was not about to bring dark creatures into a class when he didn't even have a wand.

"Then take two points for Slytherin for your answer."

Lawson glanced at Jake and his lips twitched ever so slightly at the boy's answer. "Not quite what I was looking for."

"Very good Mr Kettleburn. Two points."

"Two points for you as well Miss Toussaint."

"Just theory today." He nodded at her explanation. "Nice work three points."

"Very good Miranda. Three points for Huffelpuff."



"Excellent answers from you all. Three points for the each of you."

"Dark Creatures are the physical embodiment of evil. They do not mame and kill for food as with say Dragons or Manticores. They don't do it to reproduce, they do it out of pure nastiness. If you think about the essence of magic being intent, Dark creatures are a physical embodiment of Dark Magic."

Lawson lent against his desk and folded his arm across his chest and looked out at the students, Merlin he missed his wand. "Okay raise your hand and tell me what you know about Inferi?"

"Professor" said Damon raising his hand "I believe inferi are just bodies that are being controlled by a dark individual. It appears that they do whatever they are told to do by the wizard in control."

Raising her hand Marie said "Sir, I believe the inferie protect dark magic and they are afraid of fire."

Ooh, this Rachel DID know. "Inferi are dead bodies reanimated by a dark wizard. They are like puppets - they have no free will, they can't think and their sole purpose is to serve the wizard who created them," she answered, her hand high in the air.

Inferi were creepy but they were cool to read about - which explains her knowledge of them.

Kay put her hand up. "Professor, the Inferi are the dead you have awakened. But, not like a zombie. Inferi are controled by dark magic and are afraid of fire."

Rafe raised his hand. "Well, the inferi look like dead bodies right? Lord Voldemort used them during the first war before the time of Harry Potter. It's really dark magic and not exactly pleasant."

"Can't fault the logic though," Jake shrugged, stretching out his arms before raising a hand. "Inferi. Dark wizard's puppet. A dead body animated by a dark wizard. Mainly used for guarding things, or attacking people or whatever."

He answered in short sentences, not being too elaborative. Jake's speech was only just getting back to normal... he wasn't about to tire that ability out.

Miranda grinned at the Professor and as soon as he had asked the question, her hand was up.
"Sir, an Inferi is a body that has been killed and made to live again by dark magic. They are pretty much the living dead, they cannot feel anything, like pain... she paused and started again, "Since they are immune to feelings, they are hard to stop with spells because they cannot be hurt, like a human would feel pain and then stop to not suffer anymore."

Miranda stopped, looking like she had missed something, but not knowing what.

Eva raised her hand. The subject had interested when she was back at Belle's in 3rd year and had nothing to do. She hadn't forget that, especially because of the nightmares she had had because of Inferis.
"Inferis are creatures very similar to a human dead body. Actually, Inferis are teh corpse of a human brought back by a dark wizard." Like the long dead Lord Voldemort. "They are, therefore, creatures of the darkness, fearing light and heat." she paused to breathe. "They have white eyes, if I'm not mistaken. The word in latin, 'inferius' menas mostly inferior, but it can also mean disguised."

She looked down at the white piece of parchment on her notebook.
"Due to being darkness creatures, the best ways to kill them, so to speak, are enchantements that incolve light or fire, like Incendio." she added.

Ooh. Ooh. Inferi!

Livvy smiled and raised her hand to answer the next question. Yay! Moooore points. How proud of herself she was... oh yes she was. "Inferi are corpses that aren't alive, but have been bewitched with dark magic to transform into a puppet of some sort. They're controlled by their puppeteer, in this case... the Dark wizard that created them, and all their actions are controlled by that puppeteer. They don't feel pain and are very difficult to harm with magic, but one way to repel them is with heat or light," she said, letting her hand drop down to the desk.

Hum de dum dum.

Tavelon pondered the question for a moment, unsure if he should burst out into another wrong answer, then tentatively raised his hand. "Um... well, professor. Inferi are sort of like dead people that a dark wizard animates... sort of like puppets. So even though they're moving, they aren't really living, just controlled by a dark wizard." He paused, then continued

"Um... professor, what makes a creature... or a wizard for that matter, dark? Not to sound relativistic, but as far as creatures go, isn't it because dark wizards associate with them for there power? How can a creature actually be evil?" he asked.

Destiny's thoughts were still on dragons and dark creatures when Evelyn had spoken to her.
'Run away, No. Pass out maybe. But I'll be fine as long as we don't see anything.. dark.' and gave a nervous laugh.


Turning her attention back to the professor with the word Inferi, Destiny shivered. She knew about them, but she wished she didn't. Raising her hand she spoke 'They are dead bodies controlled by dark wizards. They don't like the heat.' Scary, scary things.

"Alright, professor." Ella responded, smiling. Then what would they be doing?

"Inferi," Ella muttered.

Raising her hand, she answered, "Inferi; Corpses or dead bodies that are bewitched under the spell of the witch of wizard. They dislike heat and light, and are similar to zombies. Fire spells like Incendio or Fiendfyre can repel them."

Woooowie.

"Oh, oh, oh! Inferi...are creepy," LouAnn said, her hand raised high into the air. She lowered it then shivered a little just thinking about the disgusting little inventions. Inventions, yes. She supposed that was what Inferi could be called. "Okay, so a dark wizard creates these things, and then they do whatever that dark wizard needs for them to do. Oh, and I've heard you can defeat them with fire...I think. Or at least that's what Albus Dumbledore did."

Cam simply raised his hand. "They're pyrophobic zoooombiesssss." He wondered if they ate people's brains... did they? Humhuhummm.

Lorcan sat listening to the class discuss Inferi. He was trying to remember something that he had read about them. He raised his hand uncertainly. "Sir, if you enrage an inferous then it will beat you to a pulp. That's what I read anyway." He wasn't sure that was right, and chewed his lip, worrying about being told off.

Ella laughed at what a fellow classmate had said, unsure if she should have afterwards. 'Pulp' was a funny word. She gave him a smile.

She went back to concentrating on the lesson.

Kylie raised her hand, "Professor, aren't they corpses? Corpses that have been.. bewitched kind of? And they.. uhh.." She tried to remember something about the inferi. "Light hurts them?" she tried to state it.. but it came out as more of a question. In all the reading she'd done, she'd tried to stay away from dark creatures. Most of it was absolutely terrifying.
