After finishing up his class with the younger kids, Professor Lawson waited patiently for the last student to leave before he closed the door and began setting up for the next class.

He set upon his desk a large cage filled with...well you'll find out soon enough. He peeked under the covers and checked to make sure that none had escaped and also that the antidote was safely in his desk drawer. Satisfied he moved off the left side of the room and conjured up a couple of platforms complete with harnesses.

Moving over to the right, where he arranged the suits of armor into a nice straight line. And beside the suits of armor, he took the cover of the table that was holding the huge cubes of butter. Yep butter!!

And last but certainly not least, he set up a number of boxes along the back wall and well away from the desks. Another surprise for the students. Satisfied that everything was in order, Marcus made his way back to his desk and sat down in his chair (for once) and propped his feet onto the desk.

"Class is now in session" he called out. Haha...he'd always wanted to say that.

ooc: I thought I'd open the class now, so that you can all post your meet and greet. I'll be back in oh about 9 hours to continue. I don't mind a leeetle bit of chatter but please DO NOT go overboard.

Looking down at the others who were waiting, Marcus called down to them. "Sarah, Sylvia and Adrienne as soon as these three have completed the task I want you to come on up here."

Samson watched with complete and undivided interest and attention at the demonstration of the spell they had just learned. OH JOY! Finally! Some action into the classes. He was, in the truest sesne of the word, quite excited. He'd never been able to blast ANYTHING, no less in a class. It was exciting indeed!

He shuffled closer towards the platform, watching his classmates perform and succeed. That harness looked miiighty exciting. He was itching to get his hands on them, and his body in them.

As the professor called the next three names, Samson's stomach twisted in an anxious fashion. He wanted to be next.

Feeling slightly reassured by Lawson's words to Abby and then to himself that his harness was good, Dominic inhaled deeply through a small hole where his lips barely parted. Nodding at his words, he steadied himself, wand pointed at the floor. He could do this ... Really... Just because wandwork wasn't his strongest point, didn't mean he couldn't accomplish a simple blasting spell.

Deprimo, the seventh year stated mentally again, envisioning the floor being blasted apart and free-falling downward. Just don't think about everyone watching you... about all eyes on you...

Giving a nervous smile at his classmates and then the Professor, Dominic finally gave a jab of his wand write between where his feet barely touched the platform. "Deprimo?" He said, more as a question though than a command. Nothing happened. "Uh... Right..." Clearing his throat, the Head Boy drew in another deep breath.

"DEPRIMO!!" The Head Boy commanded in a voice that seemed much more authoritative than perhaps necessary. And like magic - because that's what this was

- the platform blasted beneath his feet and Dominic felt himself falling ... letting out a short thrill of shock as he did so, and then bounced back up with the harness.

"I did it?" Disbelief barely being hidden in his tone. "Canaries."

Adrienne nodded slightly as Professor Lawson told her and the other two girls to come up to the platform after Dominic and the other volunteers had finished. Her eyes went up to the platform then, waiting. And a faint smirk flitted across her face as she watched the head boy. He looked a little nervous, which was amusing to her since she had the idea he thought he was better than everyone. or something. So now she had proof there was cracks in his armor. Filing that away for the possibility of a later time, she settled in to watch calmly as the three up on the platform did their thing. No way she was letting herself get nervous. All she had to do is pretend Riley would bug her if she did, and that was enough to keep her fear tamped down.

LouAnn glanced down as the professor situated the belt around her waist. She tugged at it a little, having to see for herself that it was safe and secure. Not that she didn't trust the professor, though. LouAnn had always been a rather cautious person---sometimes too cautious, though. When the belt seemed alright for both LouAnn and Professor Lawson, LouAnn pushed herself off the ground and soared high into the air, lingering over that platform she was about to try and blast a hole through.

Erm, what was that spell again? De---dep... "Uh oh," LouAnn whispered to herself. She listened to all the sounds around her, trying to pick up the incantation from one of the other students currently flying around her. In the distance, she heard someone call out Deprimo, and she relaxed and got her wand ready. She aimed it towards a spot on the floor and concentrated on blasting a hole right through it. "Deprimo!" she called out. When the spell hit, the wood cracked a little, then sunk right through, forming a nice size hole right where she'd intended it to. "Oh, awesome!"

"Nice work Dominic and LouAnn." Marcus, gave them a round of applause and then hoisted the harnesses back up. "Okay let's move this along. I have two harnesses, so whoever is ready to come up, get your butts up here."

Oh, it was time to go up. Adrienne smiled a little as she heard Professor Lawson say two people could go up now, and since she'd already been on his list of who was next, she raised her hand again. "I'm ready," she said before standing up and making her way carefully up onto the platform. In a weird way, she was actually glad she'd gone with flats for class, since it would have been more difficult climbing up here in heels. Once she arrived at the top, she grinned at the professor. "Hi again Professor Lawson. Lovely view from up here, isn't it?" If it helped, she'd be breezy the entire time she was up here. There was no way she was going to show nerves.

MWAHAHA. Now was Samson's time to shine.

He almost hopped up to the platforms in excitement. As soon as he got the harness strapped securely around himself, he beamed at the professor and gave him a small salute, after which he nimbly climbed the ladder and settled on top of the raised platform. At first he was quite content at sitting on the edge, dangling his legs in that nonchalant manner, but he realized it wouldn't be wise since there were other people waiting their turn as well.

Using his hand to stand up, he reached for his wand and pointed it between his feet, right on the center of the platform. "Deprimo!" he cried, with as much fervor as he could muster. He was excited after all! Hehe. And, well, as soon as he did, the platform gave way under him in a cloud of dust and splinters and he felt himself falling, his stomach lurching, but as soon as he felt the first tug of the rope and his first bounce (followed by several other bounces and a crazy fit of non-girly giggles) he instantly felt better.

"That. Was..." He was at a loss for words. "Can I go again?" he asked hopefully. Muahaha!

Adrienne smiled at Professor Lawson's response to her almost flippant comment about the view, watching sympathetically as he looked over then moved back toward the center of the platform. The fact he double-checked the ropes and everything eased the nerves she still wasn't about to show, and then he was telling her she could cast the spell.

Reminding herself she knew the spell, as well as the fact she was just as capable as everyone else that had already gone, she took a few seconds to do anything, simply standing in one place as she looked out at the classroom. But then, she glanced down at her feet, took a breath, and pointed her wand downward at the area between her shoes. She didn't want to miss and accidentally hit those. "Deprimo!," she said emphatically, and then a tiny grin crept onto her face as she saw the platform start to splinter. This was going to be fun. Lifting her head to face forward again, she felt herself drop through the hole she'd created, the whoosh of air going past ruffling her hair slightly as she fell. Holding her breath, it came out suddenly, along with a giggle, as the harness engaged and she bounced upward again. After a few more short moments of feeling that free-fall followed by going upward, she craned her neck to try and look upward at the professor. "Okay, that was really fun. I mean, you should try it," she said to him with a grin. Something told her he wasn't about to take her up on that.

Samson had not removed himself as he dangled from the harness, and he all but wriggled when the professor allowed him to have another go at it. "Yeeeheeees!" he exclaimed, scrambling to his feet, allowing the platform to reassemble itself and climbed up the ladder. Without another moments hesitation, he loudly said 'Deprimo' once more. Bouncing on the harness as soon as the platform gave way under his feet a second time, Samson laughed rather painfully, fading into a sigh. After that, he removed the harness and got to his feet, but not without wobbling a bit. HEH.

"Thanks professor!" He beamed at him as he passed and went back to his seat. Also, he gave Sylvia (whom he had just noticed was taking her turn) a goodluck smile. He was just being niiiice.

Yes, indeed. This was one of the best classes EVER.

Adrienne couldn't help but laugh a little at Professor Lawson's response to her facetious comment about how he should try out the harness. But then, as she flicked her hair back behind her shoulder while waiting to be unharnessed, she spoke. "You sure? I mean, if we can all do it, why shouldn't you be able to?," she said with a little smile. And then, at the compliment, her smile grew larger. "Why thank you. It's only because of being taught by professors like you, you know," she said, turning to descend form the platform and return to her seat. She knew she could probably be considered to be pouring it on a little thick, but it was all in good fun. And it was easier to flatter the professors she actually respected, as opposed to some.

Before she left the platform completely, she turned to look at the girl who had come up after her and Samson, who had been called Sylvia by the professor, and gave her a smile. "You'll have a blast, honest." And then she disappeared beneath the platform, back to solid ground, and walked back to sit at her desk to watch the rest of the volunteers. Definitely one of the more fun classes so far this term.

If the Professor had said she would be, she would be. She had a harness on.

She returned the smile to Samson, as he succeeded in the incantation, but now it was her turn. Sylvia pointed to the platform below her with her wand, and yelled "Deprimo!". She felt a bit of a wobble, before the platform began to crack. She watched as a hole burst right through the centre. WOOO! That wasn't so bad afterall. "Wheee! That was fun." Sylvia grinned as she bounced back onto the ground, thanks to her harness/bungy cord.

As he placed the belt around Abby's waist and double checked the ropes, Marcus watched as Sylvia completed the task. "Excellent work Sylvia." He looked at Abby and gave her a reassuring smile. "Okay Miss Wright, you're all set to go."

He stepped away to give her some room and he looked down at the students waiting. "Okay for those of you who have had a go, you may leave. Don't forget to copy down the homework before you go." Marcus flicked his wand at the board and the homework appeared.

With the harness firmly around her, Abby points her wand at the bottom of the platform. She looks at it for a few minutes trying to get the courage to perform the spell. Oh well, here goes nothing. Abby closes her eyes peeking throught the slits. "de-PREE-moh!" The spell blast a hole in the platform's floor. Abby falls through and bounces up and down a few time. "A-a-a-l-l-l-right!!! That was fantastic Professor. You should make a ride out of this exercise. You'd make a fortune."

"I'll certainly give it some thought Miss Wright." Marcus chuckled as he climbed down the ladder and vanished all the equipment with a wave of his wand. Looks like the other things he'd had planned will have to wait until the next lesson.
