Trying to get the wand movements down to perfection wasn't exactly easy but it wasn't terrible either. Daphne had good flexibility in her wrist however, she didn't really practice wand work.

At all.

Which she thought then and there, as she tried to make her x more tight and tidy, was something that needed to be changed. Being lazy wasn't going to get her an O.

Chris pulled out his wand as the class was instructed to practice the wand movement before he relaeased the creatures in the cage. What could they be? Whatever they were it was obvious they didn't like Professor Lawson banging on their cage.

He pointed his wand ahead of him and made two quick slashes through the air in the shape of an X. After he had done that he thought it would be best to use all of the alotted five minutes, and he continued to do it over and over.

Lawson, moved around the students desks watching as they practiced their wand movements and nodded his head with approval. Some of course were better than others but he guessed he would get to see how good they were in about thirty seconds.

Moving back over to his desk and stood beside the cage. "Okay, I think everyone has had enough time to practice their wand movements now." He pulled the cover off the cage with a flourish and grinned at the students. "Doxy's" he said rather grandly, "Also known as biting fairies. I am going to open the cage in just a moment and release them into the class. I suggest you get yourselves ready because they're going to be flying straight at you." Marcus moved his hand down to the cage door and rested his hand on the latch.

"I want you to use the 'Impediment Jinx' to slow the doxy's down and if you concentrate hard enough you should be able to immobilise them enough to get them back into the cage. If anyone is unfortunate enough to be bitten by one, I have the antidote in my drawer."

He took a few moments to make sure that everyone was ready to go and then he opened the cage door. "Okay get to work" he called out as the doxy's flew out of the cage and headed straight for the students.

Rhea practiced the wand movement over and hoping. She wanted to get it right on her first attempt against the creatures. Mistakes were just not acceptable in her book, especially in DADA. She did the wand movements against. Perfect X. Yep, she was ready, bring on the creatures.

Moments later the professor announced that he was ready to let the ...doxys out? She shrugged. The Impediment jinx wouldn't hurt them..would it? Nah.

As soon as the professor flew the cage one came speeding out at her. In her nervousness, her X wasn't done all that well, it was barely enough to slow the doxy down just a little, but not enough. It was getting too close, and she didn't fancy downing any of the nasty tasting antidote, she she steaded herself and her wand and tried again. This time, the doxy slowed considerably. It almost came to a full stop. She grinned. awesome.

Chris let out a noticible gulp when Lawson removed the curtain from the hidden cage. Doxys, he hated doxys! When he was in France visiting his Grandma on his mother's side they he had went up in the attic and there were two living up there and he was bitten. It really hurt, but he was much younger then. He was ready now.

As the latch on the cage was removed, Chris looked up just in time as a particularly fat Doxy flew straight at his head. he ducked, but the Fat Fairy was already on it's way back. Chris pointed his wand at the creature and shouted, "Impedimenta!" with the small little X shaped movement. A direct hit, the Doxy slowed almost to a a complete stop and barley floated forward toward his outstretched hand. Chris grabbed it by it's fat little foot and carried it back to the cage Lawson was standing by. "Got one!" he said happily. He placed it in the cage and then headed out for another one.

*blink*

Doxies? Biting fairies?!?! Eyes wide open, LouAnn stared at the cage and repeated the incantation and wand movements for the Impediment Jinx over and over again in her head. She raised her wand and pointed it forwards, getting ready for the little creatures who were supposedly going to be flying right at her.

...and, sure enough, fly at her they most certainly did. With her wand still raised, LouAnn made two sharp flicks in the air, making the shape of an X as she called out, "Impedimenta!" Just as she'd managed to get away from one, though, three more came zooming by. "Impedimenta! Impedimenta! Impedimenta!" she called out, making that X motion each time she casted.

After a few wand movements of an X and repeating the jinx mentally to himself, Emiliano looked over when Professor Lawson spoke and warned them about the Pixies...

Wait..."Straight over you"? That meant...err.

Glancing around, he hoped none of the doxie would get a strand of his hair, nor tear out his clothes...as well as watch over other students, see what they would do.

Suddenly, the first thing that he didn't want happened...A doxie was pulling Em's curly hair. NO...bad idea...

"Impedimenta..." Wait, that's how it was pronounced right? He did the wand movement and everything...had it worked. Well, at least the doxie wasn't pulling his hair anymore.

Doxies? EEEEP! Those were nasty little creatures! Jack briefly recalled when they had a doxy infestation in his basement a few years ago--his brother Jeremy got bitten so bad, they had to take him to St. Mungos and use extra antidote. It was creeeeeeeepy.

Just as Lawson said, the creatures shot out of the cages like they had been in a canon! Holding his wand out, he quickly made the wand movement, with two quick slashes to make an X. "Impedimenta!" he exclaimed, watching with a small smirk as the doxy who had been determined to chase him down slowed. Tee hee, it looked kind of funny, flying through air in slow motion. Especially with it's arms flailing about. Jack snorted and laughed as he watched the creature attempt to run at him. OOOOH how he needed one of those muggle video cameras!

"Impedimenta!" he exclaimed again. The doxy slowed even more, moving in even SLOWER motion while attempting to shake his arms around even more with angry, which only proceeded to make Jack laugh even harder. This was funnnnnn!

Woooooooo Cela had been right, not that it was much of a comfort with biting fairies flying around everywhere. One dive bombed her and she ducked under the desk, hearing it smack against the surface and bounce off somewhere.

"Impedimenta!" Cela flicked a tight X in the air and a jet of light hit a doxy, sending it crashing into the ground. Cela scooted out from under the desk and caught it up, immediately running over to toss it in the cage.

Of course, as she was doing this another fairy was suddenly right there and bit her finger.

"Impedimenta!" Cela put as much intent behind it as possible and immobilised the little thing.

She got bit again and decided to move AWAY from the cage.

"Professor? I need antidote!"

Eeeeek! MoAR!

"Protego!" Cela decided just to shield herself and tried to ease over to where Lawson was.

Raiden was extremely not fond of biting anythings, but... doxies were special. They required an antidote. Which is why, after staring at the cage for a moment, he immediately began practising his wand movements again. Doxies. Ugh.

"Impedimenta," Raiden said, a bit louder than he'd meant to, when a doxy flew his direction. The quick slashes of the x brought the doxy to a sudden stop, but Raiden wasn't quite satisfied by this. He cast it again before touching the creature and returning it to the cage. "Doxies."

Biting should be illegal.

Ah. Not nice.

Ducking just as a doxy came right at her, Daphne stood up and grabbed at her robes. Brushing them away from her feet, the blond flicked out her arm drawing an x as quickly as possible when another doxy advanced towards her. "Impedimenta!"

The spell hit the doxy on the shoulder and leered backwards, temporarily losing speed. However, the concentration she had lost dealing with her robes had cost her spell the proper strength required to stop the creature in it's tracks completely.

Giving out a little squeak, Daphne side-stepped to avoid a swipe from the doxy.

NOTMYHAIRNOTMYHAIR. As she sprinted away from doxies that were far too close for to even DO the wand movement, Daphne climbed up a chair then hopped back down it.

NOTHERHAIRNOTHERHAIR.

Spinning on her heels, Daphne drew a tight x right in front of her as the jeering face of a doxy met her green-brown eyes. "Impedimenta!" Grabbing it by the hair, Daphne hopped over a scattered school bag and started heading towards the cage to spot Celandine.

With a doxy flying right at her, criss-crossing the air with her wand, Daphne chanted the incantation once more. "Got your back, Celly," she announced and hit the slow moving doxie with the one in her hand like a bat to get into the cage.

And then in went the other one.

Surprised that it would be Celandine who would need an antidote, Marcus moved over to the drawer and took out a vial and held it out for her. "Here you go Miss Toussaint, drink it quickly and make sure you drink it all." No point in telling her it tasted like crap, in case that deterred from taking it. She would find out soon enough anyway.

He gave his wand two quick flicks making the small 'x' movement and cast the jinx at the two doxy's that were buzzing around the girls head.

Cela took the vial with a quick word of thanks and drank it down, her expression not changing in the slightest, apparently unbothered by the taste except, "I wonder if it would mess the potion up if there was chilli in it? It would be nicer with chilli."

Back to doxies.

She skipped off casting impedimenta and protego and occassionally rubbed at the bite mark.

What on Earth, is this guy crazy Fred thought as he saw him release doxy's around the classroom, yeah this was practical learning but it was in the extreme way he was used to at Durmstrang he was hoping to get away from at Hogwarts, oh well. He quickly saw doxy's flying right at him and his Durmstrang training helped him with bravery and fast reaction. He quickly took out his wand and waved it in X formation at lightning speed and said, "Impedimenta", and a beam came fro his wand and hit the doxy right on. He quickly grabbed it and put it back in it's cage but as he did he was caught off guard and about three came at him at the same time. One bit him before he could react. "Ahh", he screamed as he shook his arm till he finally got the thing to let go and then felt weak. Even in his weakened state he quickly waved his wand and said, "Protego", to protect herself and then raised his other arm weakly into the air and said, "I need antidote too professor.".

Helena's eyes widened slightly, suddenly a dark chocolate brown, as the professor revealed the doxies - magical creatures were definitely NOT her thing. Last year's CoMC O.W.L. came to her mind as this thought passed through her mind and she quickly shook out her head and raised her wand, poised at the ready. As soon as he opened the cage two doxies came straight at her. She cried, Impedimenta! and one of them stopped. She ducked to avoid the other, but even as it passed her, it turned and headed straight back for her. Impedimenta! That stopped it.

Moving over the Gryffindor boy, Marcus handed over a vial of antidote. "Make sure that you drink it all mate. You'll be alright in a moment to continue."

What the heck are these things! Chris watch as a couple of doxies come right towards him. They came and started pulling on his robes but then nooo one grabbed the snitch shaped necklace he had on. He pulled out his wand and choked out. "Impedimenta!" He made the 'x' in the air. That did the trick. Or at least they stopped choking him. Note to self: Don't wear neaklace to DADA.

But then he heard Lena cry. He turned quickly on a heel towards her and was ready to run over and help. Chris moved closer towards her but saw she was fine. He sighed and started to look around slightly embrassed as he had to duck off a few more.

When an army of doxies headed her way, LouAnn had a small lapse in judgment and proceeded to simply just run the other way. What she didn't consider is the fact that several more doxies would be headed towards her from that direction, as well. She stopped short and jerked her head from side to side, watching both herds of doxies with wide eyes. What was...the spell again? Ahh, yes.

"Impedimenta!" she called out, her wand making the now familiar X's in the air. She managed to take care of a few of the doxies, but she was forced to duck out of the way of several more. She crawled on the ground to try and get to a safe place. Once under a nearby desk, she aimed her wand at a few doxies who looked as if they'd head her way soon. "Impedimenta!" she called out again.

Fred grabbed the vial form the professor and glared at him as he weakly raised vial to his mouth and poured it in. He felt the potion course through his veins and his strength return. He really just did'nt want to do this anymore. THe had never felt anything worse in his life then being bit by a doxy, not even at Durmstrang. Continue he thought to himself, fat chance. He quickly took out his wand and waved it just right and said, "Protego totauml", and concentrated hard on just sheilding himself the best he could from all angles cause his main goal now was to gaurd himself from being bitten again. He was done with this lesson cause he felt from the beginning a lesson like this was too dangerous and harmful and getting bit just confirmed that.

Blink.
All of the sudden, as the other doxie was being impedimented, Emiliano felt a bite. OH noo...
Faint...not a good idea..."Impedimenta!" He exclaimed, pointing and flicking his wand towards a doxie biting his left hand.

"Professor...I need...the antidote..." He almost yelled, pausing as he tried not to look at the bite and avoid fainting.

Marcus, rolled his eyes at the boy and handed him the vial of antidote. "Come on mate it ain't that bad." He gave him a slap on the shoulder and chuckled. Some of these boys seriously needed to man up.

With a quick flourish of his wand, Marcus put all the doxy's back into the cage. "Okay good work everyone. I am very impressed with your wand work. It's not easy being able to cast the jinx at something so small." He placed the cover back over the cage and lent against his desk.

"Now I've noticed a few of you casting curious glances towards the blocks of butter that I have set up on the table. I am sure you will be able to figure out what I have planned when we talk about this next spell." With another flick of his wand, he wrote another spell onto the board.

"Now who can tell me what this spell does?"

...and in the blink of an eye, the doxies were gone, banished back to the cages they'd once been housed in. LouAnn crawled out from underneath the desk and sat in it, her hand raised to answer the latest question. "Defodio digs a hole through something or hollows it out completely," she said, staring at the butter as she answered. Ohhh, she had a feeling this lesson was about to get nice and messy---fun!

Cela raised her hand.

"Its the gouging spell sir! It gouges holes in things and in people." Truth. She'd seen some scars even.

Chris looked at Lena and gave her a friendly smile. He then heard the professor ask 'bout another spell. Did that have to do with digging or something...

He raised his hand. "The spell can carve or dig out materials....right?" He said raising an eyebrow.

Chris raised his hand "The Difodio spell, gouges or cuts holes in things. It would be particularly nasty if it was used in a duel, but it clears out something and hallows it."
