"Very good, Abby. That's correct," she said, smiling as everyone's answers started flooding in.

Cela raised her hand and smiled back at Professor Morgan.
"Well for starters, you are most likely to see them at night dancing on their rear legs under the moonlight. But otherwise their skin is smooth and pale grey, its kind of reflective of the moonlight. It has bulging eyes on the top of its head and spindly legs that end in flat feet. You know what I think professor? When Muggles say they've seen aliens, its actually mooncalfs. Do the ministry do that? Like obliviators and stuff? To protect the statute?" |
"That is a very good question, Celandine and an interesting theory. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer," she said. "But I think that would make a fascinating topic for a research paper." She threw Cela a knowing smile and continued on.

Jack looked around in confusion at all the professors who had joined their little group...it seemed like every lesson was interrupted by another professor nowadays. Not that Jack minded, of course. It made things more funnnnn!
He raised his hand. "Mooncalfs are smooth and gray, and they have bulging eyes on their head and big flat feet," he said. Much like his own! Although he didn't add that little bit. "You could also check the color of the poo the animal, erm...gives off. If it's silvery you know you've got a mooncalf!" |
Hearing Cap't Jack mention the mooncalf dung, Iliana turned her head towards him. "Hopefully we'll get a chance to see that for ourselves tonight," she said with a shifty smile.

Abigail walked around the fire -in the direction of Kay and the chocolate- as she answered the professor “I know that they have big flat feet professor and...Oh! They’re gray aren’t they?”
Reaching Kay she plonked down next to her and whispered quietly “How are you feeling? I was going to visit you in the hospital wing but it was a bit busy.” She was eyeing the chocolate and the marshmallows, but she wasn’t going to have any, she was going to be good. |

"AHEM!" The professor cleared her throat quite audibly. "If you have nothing class-related to contribute, please remain silent," she said rather sternly; eying the two girls.

Fyo raised his hand. "It's that creature that only pops out of its burrow when there's a full moon, isn't it, professor?" He asked, eyes twinkling. "Never seen one, but I've read its legs are pretty spindly - slender or elongated, if I may put it so - with big, flat feet. Plus, it has protruding eyes right on top of its head - come to think of it, that's kinda unique!"
He frowned, then added, "Pale grey skin, too. That must look pretty when it dances in the moonlight, ma'am - it does, doesn't it? My dad says it creates plenty of geometric patterns in fields while at it!" Cold.
Oh, but cold was SO good! |
"The dance is VERY interesting indeed. Would you like to see that? To witness their dance?" she asked, addressing the entire class.
"Every month this term, during the nights of the full moon, I have spent my evenings down by the Maïze Maze. I'm sure each of you can guess what I've seen there," she said theatrically.
"So... that's where I'm taking you now. Please grab a lantern and gather up your blankets; we won't have a nice fire there to keep us warm."

Seizing the opportunity to roast another marshmallow while the kids discussed the animals at hand, Constantine smiled as he watched the marshmallow become a nice golden brown. And then Iliana had leaned in close and inquired about her wand.
Uhoh.
Constantine scooted a couple inches away from her (or, at least out of her arm's reach) and quickly dunked his marshmallow in chocolate and popped it in his mouth. "Ismispwaced," he mumbled quietly, and then swallowed the marshmallow. There; amen for marshmallows! |
Iliana studied Constantine's face, praying that he hadn't, once again, grown silent. When he finally DID answer her, she winced at his words.
"Misplaced, huh? Like YOURS I suppose?" 'Argh, why wouldn't he just give it back?' she wondered. She was getting annoyed now. But oh no, what if he wasn't lying.
Standing up, Iliana threw her cloak back around her shoulders and then covered them with the blanket. "Gentlemen, you're welcome to come if you'd like. Of course, if pigging out on more marshmallows suits you better, then by all means, stay where you are." She gave Lawson a smile and Masterson a LOOK. Maybe they'd hang back and help her clean up.
...
Once most of the students were standing, the professor started on her way. "Follow me class and stay close. It's dark out here and we don't need anyone getting separated from the group. From here on out, WHISPERED voices ONLY." If they scared the mooncalfs off now, the 'midnight lesson' would have been for nothing.
OOC: This part of the lesson is now complete. Please RP your charrie arriving with the class here.
