Jason enjoyed the noise. He could not figure out the leasson.

Samson's eyes were starting to loose focus just as his attention span was starting to thin and his neck was starting to ache really bad.

It was almost a saving grace that a gigantic pair of hands all of a sudden appeared from the ceiling, as though Mickey Mouse had just reached in on them and gave them a booming round of applause - literally. MERLIN'S PANTS. His head snapped back straight on his neck in surprise and he blinked widened eyes several times and his ears started filling with an annoying ringing, and somewhere inside of him, a portion of his brain was starting to run around in his head and started hitting itself on the walls of his skull. Good grief. What was THAT all about?!

He turned to the professor, a little irate at the surprise, and found that he was all but amused about what had just transpired. Silly old man. A hand flew to Samson's neck to massage it as he tried to make out the muffled sounds. Yes, everything was muffled after that booming. Gah.

"What we didn't hear?! Professor, I've gone half-deaf. I'd be glad to enumerate all the things I can't hear but I just don't see how that will help our lesson. Which. Could. Be..." Deafness? Booming spells? More deafness? Conjuring large Mickey Mouse-like gloves from the ceiling of any establishment possible?!

"... How to get one's attention?" That wasn't helpful. At all. Heh.

Diana clapped her hands onto her ears...Oh gosh!!This was deafening.She considered shouting to perhaps lessen the sound,but thought better of it.Massaging her almost deafened ears,she looked at the professor,waiting for him to react....

Adrienne rolled her eyes as people had kept on wondering why the professor was staring at the ceiling, going back to her quiet spellcasting, but when the low hum of conversation had been cracked by extremely loud clapping out of nowhere, she had jumped. Startled, she had put her hands over her ears before glancing around the room and then back at Professor Ashby. He was asking for guesses as to what they'd be learning, and she raised her hand. "I'd say non-verbal spells. Or even wandless magic," she said, partly hoping it was the latter, since she wasn't sure if he'd used his wand when he'd summoned the deafening noise. She already knew at least one nonverbal spell, and while silence would be welcome right now, she figured most of the class already knew the Silencing Charm.

Abigail was confused, she didn’t have a clue what the professor was talking about. She didn’t have any charms experience, and how not hearing a sound was a clue as to what they were learning, completely baffled her. She just waited of the professor to answer his own question.

Bella immedeatly clapped her hands over her ears when she heard the strange loud noise. she intently listened to the professor. hints? what hints? she looked around and saw the rest of her classmates were talking about non verbal spells. it was true that Bella didnt hear the spell cast by professor so maybe her classmates were right. she waited for the professor to speak.

Jake raised his hand, now bitter that his ears were also in pain as well as his ears. This class was bad for the anatomy.

"Is it spells that you don't say? Not only the ones where they have words that you say, but ones where... they just don't have an incantation?" He asked, before lowering his hand again and rubbing his ear.

Reid who had been observing the teacher started to think seriously about the question the class was being asked. "Is it that we are studying how to perform non-verbal spells?" he asked curiously after raising his hand slightly. It would be totally cool if they were and would serve to get Reid's mind out of the pit of depression it had recently sunk into due to his own actions.

Arianna's ears were making a PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII sound from the clapping of those gigantic hands, but anyway she heard what the professor said, raised her hand to speak " Well, will we be learning how to conjure gigantic hands throw the ceiling without it collapse?" she threw stupidly and snorted. She scratched her forehead thinking about something more, pulling her glasses up " well maybe we'll just learn how to conjure stuff... right?"

"What was that?" Kay said looking up at the ceiling. She saw the huge hands clapping and then Marie was answering a question. "How do you no about wordless magic?" Kay asked.

Kay looked over to where her two friends were sitting. Diana and Abigail had the same looks on their faces as Kay did. This class was going to be something. But, Kay didn't know what.

Keeley grabbed her ears at the gigantic boom, clutching her desk as if it were a liferaft. Once the ringing was subdued enough to hear the teacher's shouts, she was puzzled. She didn't even know about verbal spells, so how was she supposed to know anything about nonverbal? She sighed, and randomly changing her hair to a short bright yellowish blonde, and indigo eyes and waited for an answer.

Nataly nearly fell from hear seat, feeling like her heart just fell to her legs. Adrenaline.
Her ears hurt. She put her hands on them, but it didn't work. The loud sound still went inside her.

Then she raised her hand to answer. Slytherin needs the points! We're on the third place! "Maybe we'll learn...surprising spells? Or something connected to adrenaline?"

Nataly put her hands on her hurting ears again. What is wrong with the proffesor today? Or maybe he's always like that?
Then she realised what the clues were. What we didn't hear, what we didn't hear... Non-verbals, of course!
She raised her hand eagerly, ready to answer. "Proffesor, You didn't pronaunce anything to make the hands appear. You were completely silent. Does it mean we'll learn non-verbal spells today? It is a very complicated magic, and it's usually taught from sixth year and up. But there are many younger students, like me."

Satine instantly covered her ears with the sound of the loud clapping. She was pretty sure she wasn't going to be able to hear anything for forever and a day. Then she saw the Professor's mouth moving but it sounded like the 'WhaWhaWhaWhaWhaWha' of the teacher from the Snoopy cartoons. She shook her head and uncovered her ears and she could barely hear his words, but she tried to piece them together slowly. She raised her hand as quickly as her startled body would let her, "Professor, you are a sneaky one.....Are you going to introduce us to nonverbal charms?"

The clapping hands that had appeared out of nowhere startled Tibi as he practically jumped out of his seat. His mind had been wandering through all the unpleasant possibilities that had come out of those rune readings they'd done. Murder? Evil? Secrecy?

He heard the students around him asking if they were going to learn nonverbal spells. Nonverbal spells? Tibi didn't know any verbal ones beyone what he'd learned here so far! Maybe it wouldn't be hard? Tibi bit his lip and waited for instruction, his anxiety having shifted from the unclear future to the present challenge.

Sabrina was starting to get really bored of changing the colour of her parchment when she heard a loud BOOM and then stared at Professor Ashby. That was ONE way of getting her attention. There was no way this oblivious blonde could have missed those loud claps.

What they didn't hear?

After giggling at Samson's answer (how to get someone's attention!?), Sabrina asked. "Non verbal spells?" But too late. Everyone else seemed to have caught on.

Hmph.

Nia jumped at the loud noise, before straightening herself back up again and fiddling with her quill.

"I agree with Celandine," she said, tucking some hair back that had strayed forward when she jumped. "Something based on distractions and hiding or concealling things." She paused. "Like you appeared from nowhere, which I assume was a disillusionment charm, and then you distracted us by making us all turning our gaze to the ceiling even though there was nothing obviously there. Once we were staring up there trying to find what you were looking at, it was quite possible that you did something else. Like conjure loud noises." She tried giving him a hard stare after mentioning the loud noises - but it wasn't possible. Professor Ashby was one of her favourite professors, and he just had one of those jovial likeable personalities.

Nancy simply resumed to glance back and forth between the professor and the overhead ceiling which he was staring at with a smile playing around her lips. Whatever this was about it was somehow extremely amusing. Not that there was anything up there but still, just standing there gazing up at the ceiling with most of the other students was just so random that it amused Nancy highly. Yay for randomness.

A shriek escaped her lips as the 15 year old - still standing right next to the professor - jumped at the sudden appearance of two gigantic hands right there on the ceiling. Barely noticing that she had not only jumped but jumped into the direction of the Professor Ashby meaning she was now only inches away from him she simply stared up at the hands, her blue eyes widening in sheer shock as the all of a sudden started moving towards each other until with a huge BAM! the collided making an applaud-like sound.

This time she was in fact holding onto the professor's arm anxiously as the ringing sound in her ears was still apparent even after the hands had finally stopped clapping. Eep! Upon realizing her rather inappropriate behavior - well, at least she hadn't hidden her face in his robes like a little child or something - Nancy muttered a barely audible apology before quickly taking a seat in the waaaay back of the classroom, her cheeks flushing slightly.

Listening to a few other student's answer Nancy quickly raised her hand, her brow furrowed in confusion, "Well, sir, I have to agree with...uhm..." She stuttered slightly at the girl's name as even though she obviously was in her house she had absolutely no idea how she was called. "...what she said. We can't all be learning non-verbal spells already. Right?" Or maybe they would. Everything was a bit different here. "Maybe this lesson will be about...uhm...how almost everyone copied your behavior, like cause you are something like an authority figure and stuff." Okay, this was not a Psychology class. Hmpf...

To be honest she could not think of anything but non-verbal spells with Ashby's clues so in the end she said, "Okay, I guess we still are learning about non-verbal spells." Yes, go her.

Okay, the booming sound didn't feel so good on Edem's ears.

He was still rubbing his ears trying to get rid of the weird buzzing sound after the thunderous claps. Wait--what was everyone doing? They already raised their hands. Apparently the professor asked them a question. Wanting to catch up, he too, raised his hand,

"Professor, are we going to learn the spell you used to make the clapping sound so loud, or are we going to learn how to cast the spell the way you did--without even speaking--non-verbally?"

He lowered his hands and looked around--it was quite a surprise that Tiberius Pryce didn't bother answering the professor's question. Throwing a quick glance at the boy, Edem bit his lower lip and looked away. He hoped things were not.. As bad as the Runes they read.

Fallon put her hands over her ears. The sound was so deafening that she couldn't even think straight. She completely forgot about the professor's question and concentrated on covering her ears.

Zoe looked back at Mina, nodded and smiled acknowledging their homework get-together that was to take place later.

Zoe's ears were still buzzing. She could see other students responding, but she couldn't make out what they were saying. Then the professor yelled, which luckily made it through the din.

Raising her hand along with the other students she asked, "Could it be non-verbal spells, sir? I have heard that they are quite advanced. Is that true?" her voice still louder than normal. Maybe she should learn a noise muffling charm or a hearing protection spell before her next Charms lesson.

Evan's heart sank when Fallon rushed him, not even looking. See, he was afraid of this: he had lost her friendship. And he wondered, how would he talk to her if she was not even looking at him. He would eventually had to talk, and he now didn't want that time to come.

He sighed. If she was that doubted, she'd send Iris to talk to him. He prayed that it wouldn't be the case, but he didn't have any chances. Back to the class from his dreams, he winced and covered his ears, like it was of use. He barely heard the question, and shot his hand in the air although he didn't have a proper answer. He quickly thought, if it was more of what we didn't hear, ghosts were out of question. "Casting spells silently?"

K's ears really hurt from the shouting, "So non verberbal spells is pretty much what we are leaning now Professor?" K asked as she rubbed her ears.

Sara was scared to death. Was what the other students were saying right? Were they going to learn non-verbal spells? She was going to fail... big time!
Merlin's pants... she only new about 15-20 spells right now and even got some of them wrong... how was she going to do them... silently...

Sara sat silently and waited for the worse...

Iris looked up as a loud noise banged from the ceiling. OWWW!!!! they DO have ears to protect! ... What was that for? Iris scowled as she covered her ears. THis certainly wasn't how she wanted to start her day.

Oh. so HE had to shout as well? ... this was geat ... What we cannot hear? ... Does that mean ... we're doing like ... quiet stuff? ... silencing spells? ... Spells that you don't have to say out loud? ... Iris looked at Fallon and Satine and gave them a look that quite plainly asked if they saw the need in the noise, either. She then looked back to the professor with a rather unpleasant look on her face. She had sore ears now and a banging headache ...

!!!!!!

Sylvia clasped her ears shut and pressed hard. She would rather her ears hurt from her hands than the loud noise. Her precious ears were dead forever! Sylvia raised her hand once the dreaded sound was over. "WE LEARNIN' TO CAST SPELLS WITHOUT WORDS? LAAIKE, IN OUR MINDS?" Wow, the volume of her voice had certainly gone up a few, she hadn't meant to. Darn ears.
