Ohwheee... Transit Cycles.

The girl glanced around briefly at her fellow classmates before looking down at her piece of parchment as she remembered everything that the Professor said and everything that her fellow classmates had stated. Livvy picked up her quill from on top of her desk and began to calculate her Mental and Spiritual Transits. Fun fuuuunn. No sarcasm intended.

Ooh. She had two middle names! Funkeh.

Speaking of birthdays... she was seventeen as of today. WHOOOO!!!

Macadrian circled the room, checking the students' work as she went. She came across the parchment of Marie and corrected one thing, "Your math is entirely correct. However, your E Mental Transit ended on your 11th birthday. And from that moment that entered back into a 'J' transit, which runs from age 11 til your 12th birthday."

Professor Shackleton-Clark wandered to the next few desks, where she found Kiri's parchment, "When you have no middle name, you use your last name to determine both your Mental and Spiritual Transit. The first name is only used for the Physical Transit."

Professor Shackleton touched Chris' parchment to explain, "There is a slight mathematical error here with the 'O' in your middle name. The range should be from age 1 to age 7, not six. If you add six years to one, the result it seven. I suggest fixing this and the remainder of your numbers accordingly."

Professor Shackleton-Clark made her way around to Jake's desk and heard his question as she approached, "Yes, Jake, that is exactly how you treat multiple last names as well."

"There is a slight mathematical error here with the 'N' in your middle name. The range should be from age 1 to age 6, not five. If you add five years to one, the result it six. I suggest fixing this and the remainder of your numbers accordingly."

"I'm not quite sure what you're doing here, but it certainly isn't Arithmancy. Please reference Chapter two of the textbook and review the Pythagorean number chart before assigning numbers to the letters in your middle and last names."

Chris looked down at his parchment as the Professor pointed out his math mistake. "Oh oops!" he grinned. "Sorry about that. I will fix it right now." he took his quill and then rewrote and fixed the timespans for the mental transit.
When he was finished his looked at the Professor. "Ok that's better."

This was embarrassing. Kiri glanced at her parchment. The professor was right, of course. How could she have forgotten?! "Sorry about that, Professor," she said, hastily crossing out her previous calculations. She pulled the notebook towards herself and began to write again, much more focused now.

Of course, she didn't actually need to change much. All the calculations for the Mental Transit were already there.

Giving one small nod, Jake bent back down over his parchment and quickly began to write. Who in the sane world would give someone such a freakishly long name? His mother was probably trying to torture him in Arithmancy class... she'd planned this all along.

And then, all the happy feelings vanished in four sentences spoken by her teacher. "Sorry!" Wesley apologized, turning bright red, and looked at her error. Not wanting her work to get messy, she took out a new piece of parchment, rewriting everything

Counting under her breath and using her fingers, Wesley double checked her work. Slowly, her embarrassment was turning into awe. Professor Shackleton-Clark had eagle eyes; she was smart.

Chris nodded and pulled out his textbook. He turned to the section for Transit cycles and flipped to Mental and Spiritual Transits. He found the interpretation of what his mental transit was.
Chris read that and then was ready to give his interpretation. "I think it means that I will have a somewhat challenging time in my life. I will have recognition about my talents and skills which hopefully will be my O.W.Ls, Quidditch and prefecting. A bad relationship, and should be careful when making decisions. And I would say that this is probably true. A relationship can be bad if two people dont get along but i think i may be able to prevent that, but all the other things seem about right."

He then turned to the thing for his Spiritual Transit.
Chris began to speak. "Well this seems like I will have to do my duties regardless of my stress. I will have good partnerships and desire to learn. I believe this is true. I do love to learn and I think I have pretty good partner and friendships."

Interpretations... BLECH. One of the things that Livvy hated to do most yet seemed to take part in her life in so many situations. She wished to petition such things, but sadly that wouldn't pan out too well. The girl's eyes wandered down to her calculations and the words that were on the piece of parchment before her.

Sighing, she flipped open the Arithmancy textbook and searched for the section on Transit Cycles. For her Mental Transit, she got Z and for her Spiritual Transit, she got N. Whoopeee.

From the textbook, contained the following information:
"Z: This is an inspiring time. You can overcome limitations and see enormous progress in your life. Financially this is a good time as long as you put your faith in hard work and avoid schemes. You are able to make accurate judgments based on sound intuition. A new and unusual relationship will cause many changes in your life, which may include a change of residence.

N: You will have opportunities to expand your horizons. There will be adventurous experiences and travel. A change of residence is very possible. This is a dynamic time with many new activities. You will make some important social contacts. You search for love and fulfillment. Sacrifice, adaptability and flexibility are called for. You will also be concerned with finances and may worry too much about these matters. You tend to be forgetful during this time. You will also feel more sensual than usual. Physical exercise is important during this period."

Upon reading this, Livvy thought for a few moments about how the information related to her life and the events in her life.

Listening vaguely to Shackleton, Jake continued to rock back on his chair, before letting it fall forwards, the legs making a resounding BAM! on the floor. Brushing the hair out of his eyes and straightening his glasses, Jake flipped open and used his ringed finger to begin searching for something familiar.

Finally tapping his finger at the header of the correct chapter, Jake switched to a clean sheet of parchment and began to right some moaaarrrr.

Fun times.

Well this should be easy since it is the same letter, right? Wrong.

Career, travel, love affair, marriage!? 'I'm only 12!'
Destiny was lost. She had no idea what this was supposed to mean. 'Well, I guess I'm helpful.'
Then there was new, adventurous experiences. That could mean her not being as scared of everything like she was. That is a new experience for her, not so much adventurous. 'Lack of focus? I don't have a lack of focus!'
'I think this is all wrong.'

Kiri nodded to herself and consulted her Arithmancy textbook. As her Mental and Spiritual Transit shared the same letter, she only needed to look up one. Under T, the textbook read:
She pondered this in silence for a little while, then raised her hand and said, "Here, Professor. Erm... It says something about looking for new activities. I, uh, was a replacement player in the last Quidditch match." She suddenly realised that Professor Shackleton-Clark was Head of Hufflepuff house. Awkward!
"And, er, I hadn't really played Quidditch before," she continued, "because, well, it wasn't really my cup of tea, and I wasn't too interested in it. But now I really kind of like it. It was a lot of fun." She nodded again.

Then there was the part of the text that talked about "sacrifice" and "burdens", and Kiri was certainly willing to sacrifice quite a bit in her quest to... support Copernicus's quest make Hogwarts safe and werewolf-free, but something told her that announcing this in front of the professor - and the whole class too - was not a smart idea.

Jumping as a loud noise went off next to her, Evelyn narrowed her eyes at Jake before going to work on the assignment. 'Do we have to write down the actually event? What if we don't want to...' Evelyn picked up her quill again, staring at it for a moment before looking up the meaning of the letter she was on. 'Since they are both O...'

She didn't really want to dive any deeper into the analysis than that, even though there was a ton more she could write, but seeing as she didn't want anyone to know anymore than they do now, she just left it at that. They would just think she was crazy anyways.

Rachel, who had drifted into a daydream about little Relton Daniel, quickly crashed back into the classroom (metaphorically of course) as Shackleton-C asked them to now analyze their results.

So, on both the Mental and Spiritual transits she had gotten an 'I'. According to the textbook:

This is a very emotional time with many ups and down's. You are high-strung and vulnerable to stress. You are somewhat accident prone. You need to develop calmness, centeredness, and an acceptance of life. You must control your moods and not slip into feelings of self-pity and insecurity. At the same time you are very competitive and have the opportunity to achieve success and financial reward.

Analysis:
On both transits I am under 'I's influence and have been for a very long time. The textbook states that this is a very emotional time for me with many up's and down's and I think that it basically describes my teenage years - the ones I spent and will spend growing up so it makes sense.
In reference to the Mental transit; yes, my mind is very highly strung, what with schoolwork and social problems and - back when I was ten - the fact that I was apparently a witch. Everything the textbook states is true - I HAVE been mentally depressed over the years... Not severely, she quickly adding, realising how that might sound to a teacher, but to a certain extent, yes I have.
In the Spiritual transit - yet again, the book is correct. I have been quite vulnerable, especially in the past year, and the fact that I need to develop "calmness, centeredness and acceptance of life" is something I think all teenagers must learn as well as I. Also, the book states "competitiveness" and that couldn't be more true - especially at a time like this when my house is... Slightly lower in ranking than usual." Rachel cringed slightly at the thought of Ravenclaw in fourth place.
As for what lies ahead - I think that the pattern isn't going to change and right up until graduation I will live everything that I have for the past six years or so.

Rachel looked at the book for a few seconds, then thought about what she'd said and frowned.

"Professor, how does one differ in analysis between the three transits - especially mentally and spiritually?" she asked, wondering if she had answered anything right at all.

Kay felt like she was so far behind everyone else. She didn't understand all the number things and hoped she got it right.

The letter O would be her Mental transit.

Middle name is a 6 just like my first. Which means Duty and responsibility, love of family, humanitarian, artistic, nurturing, balanced, community service, protector, provider, passion, grace, simplicity, intuition, sympathy, marriage number.

My last name is a 5 and it means Freedom, change, progressive, curious, investigative, rebellious, unconvential, resourceful, visionary, expansion, movement, healing, mercy

Kay didn't have a clue what all of this meant. She looked it all over and sighed. 'What does it all mean?' Kay said softly to herself.

Josh opened up the Textbook again to find the letters for his transits. It was weird that he hated books but the topic was interesting like eating a salty and sweet thing at the same time. *Peek* And Rose had ''O'' for both, no wonder he was going to look up for that as well.

Finishing his analyses he took another peek at what Rose wrote, of course he had read the ''O'' transit on his book.

''Come oooon!'' he nudged her a little and laughed ''We both very well know you have much more than this. Don't you feel uncomfortable about lying to your parchment''

Ellie frowned as Professor Shackleton-Clark scrutinized her work. She had hoped to get by without much of anything, but apparently she had been caught slacking off.

She reluctantly pulled out her textbook and started reading up on the Pythagorean number chart. She stifled a yawn as she tried to catch up with the lesson. This was one long class.

Feeling something nudge her, and Josh speak about her paper, Evelyn's eyes widened and she quickly glanced around the room to see if anyone was listening. "No I don't. I'm not lying. This is all I know." Of course there was more she could write, but she gave Josh a look saying to just be quiet instead before she started twirling her quill. She didn't want to write anymore in case someone actually did read this like...

*scoff* 'He read my parchment!' Playfully narrowing her eyes at him, she scooted her parchment away from where he couldn't see it, but now it was closer to Jake. 'Ugh, why why why did he have to sit there.' Rolling her eyes and scooting it away from the hufflepuff, she noticed she was stuck because now Josh could see it again. Before she could just get up and move seats, she flipped the parchment so the writing was now face down. 'Now no one can see it!'

"Well, the Mental transit should be analyzed for one's state of mind and mental well-being. Basically how one is thinking during those years. Your frame of mind will change quite drastically as you age and as different events unfold, and that analysis describes how you approach those things mentally.

"Spiritual transit applies more to how you feel, rather than how you think. Your spiritual growth and your inner contentment as you go through life should be the focus of this analysis. The same number should take on a different context as you analyze it on the three different planes - physical, mental, spiritual."

Mina pulled out her text and her journal, which she had been keeping since the first lesson. Flipping to the correct pages she begain to work.

Blinking at her own analysis, she frowned. Was that right? Is this what it really meant or was she just grasping at straws again. She really needed to work on this.

Oh that's interesting.... Staring at her parchment, she thought again about what it all meant. All this interpretation was starting to give her a slight headache, but she had to get over that and just do it.

Nervously looking up from her work, she sighed. Why do I feel both my mental and spiritual transit are very wrong?

Determined to do better, Wesley flipped through her textbook to the right page, and started to write below her earlier figuring:



Looking over her work, the Hufflepuff bit her bottom lip nervously. Maybe she shouldn't have kept mentioning butterbeer. Wesley hoped she had done it right, but figuring out the difference between thinking and feeling was confusing.

Fred continued his work upon iinstruction:

Tibi looked over his chart and flipped to the right page in his textbook. Sticking his tongue out of the corner of his mouth and chewing on it, Tibi copied down his mental and spiritual transits.

Twirling his quill between his fingers as he considered how he might interpret them. His quill hovering over the parchment, he made serveral attempts at starting before finally putting ink on his page.

Tibi looked over his writing and frowned. That certainly didn't sound to positive. But then again, if that's how he was feeling, than maybe it wasn't too far off.

"Thanks Professor, I didn't think about that" Marie said as she opened her text book to look up the meaning of her transits.

Marie had to think hard about this one, she wasn't really sure how this fit into her life at this time.
'Wow, that sounds really phony, who would ever believe that about me?' Marie thought to herself.

Marie wrote her interpretation of this one on her parchment.
'Well this one sounds a little more like me. Merlin knows I can be stubborn, impatient and act without thinking' she thought as she read back over her notes.
