Arithmancy Lesson Thee: Transit Cycles II & Essence Number Professor Shackleton-Clark sits at her desk, staring out through the windows of the room as you enter. The sounds of your shuffling feet grab her attention and she greets you with a less vibrant smile than usual. Worry lines crease her forehead and she appears as though she hasn't slept much recently. There are faint purplish circles under her eyes and her hair, though neat, doesn't have its usual luster and shine. Please take your seats and await for the start of the lesson. |
Professor Shackleton... didn't look too good. Fyo's eyes filled up with concern as he stepped into the Arithmancy classroom for a lesson on his favourite subject, and found himself a seat at the front. "Good afternoon, ma'am," he said politely. |
Rachel made her way leisurely to Arithmancy, aware of the fact that she was ridiculously early. For some reason, she had not estimated the three minutes it took to get from the Ravenclaw Tower to the classroom incorrectly and was now suffering the consequences. Eh - Shackleton was ni- NO! It's Shackleton-CLARK! She was nice, anyhow. "Hello Professor!" the sixth year greeted her Professor as she entered the classroom, her bright smile almost immediately turning into a frown as she noticed Professor Shackleton-Clark's demeanor. Taking the fact that she was one of the first in the class a given, she slowly made her way towards her favourite seat by the windows, looking worriedly at her professor as she walked. What happened to her? |
Evelyn walked in, somehow managing to be on time without having to run to class...woah, even early! 'Where is everyone? Am I really that early?' Frowning, she glanced at the Professor for a split second, waving and giving a quick mumbled, "G'Day Professor." before heading towards the back of the room as always and taking her seat, laying her head on the desk. 'Sleep, neeeeeed it.' She felt like she was going to go mad if she didn't get any sleep and soooon. It didn't help that No-Name took her pillow every night. 'Stupid bird. Just does it to annoy me.' Maybe if she closed her eyes for a few minutes before class started...yup, she'll do that. |
Don't look her in the eye, Jake. Don't do it. Don't. D- I SAID DON'T! Unable to keep his eyes averted for very long, Jake glanced at Shackleton for just a fraction of a second. He decided that, since... you know... since he wasn't in control of his actions as well as he'd like to be right now, he'd sit at the BACK. That way, he could keep an eye on anyone who tried to steal from him again, and they wouldn't be all STARRRRRRING at him. "P'fessor," the boy nodded curtly in greeting. Keeping one hand in his pocket, Jake didn't bother to move his slightly long, blondish-pink hair from his eyes as he went to sit down, right beside that chick Evelyn who ALWAYS felt the need to be all GRRRR with him for some reason. Deciding to not dwell on it, Jake spared Evelyn a kind of murderous smile. Resting his free hand on his desk, wand in his hand. Okay, so that was MEANT to say 'I have my wand, so don't try anything' but it may have seemed a little more threatening than that. |

Right, arithmancy. EH. Tammy really needed to start a timetable up around her lessons, Torin, and everything else. Revision was needed especially soon. After repeatedly checking she had her textbooks and her new Prada bag, Tammy had made it to the classroom, pretty much in the first batch of students. But instead of entering straight away, she had fixed her shoes, stupid flamin' heels. Only upon entering did she notice the down trodden appearence of her HoH and arithmancy professor. "Morning Professor." She only greeted her cautiously, and then proceeded to approach her desk quickly. "Professor, are you okay? You don't look at all well." State the obvious Tam. State the flamin' obvious. |

Marie walked into class thankful that they were finally having a class inside. "Hello Professor" 'Wow, she looks like she could use some sleep' Marie thought as she sat down next to Kay. |
Quote:
So not Destiny or Josh. 'What...is...he...doing?!' Frowning, she stared at Jake who sat next to her. Sat NEXT to HER. Spotting his wand and his 'smile', she narrowed her eyes, letting her gaze drift to his pockets for a moment. She still completely believed that he was part of everything that happened at the school so far and that he kept something with him at all times. Though, she didn't really want what happened to that other Hufflepuff girl to happen to her, so she would keep her hands to herself. Sending Jake a 'Right-back-at-you' smile back, she sat back in her seat and crossed her arms, sulking. So not how she wanted class to start out. "Hullo Jake." she mumbled monotonously, at least trying to be nice at the moment. |
Quote:
She hung her head down and scurried past the professor, mumbling a quick "Hello. How are you?" before sliding into a seat. She pulled her Arithmancy book out, opened it to a random page, and hid behind it. Nevermind the fact the book was upside down. |
Quote:
Josh, a little bit bored he had to join another class, walked inside the Aritmancy Class hoping to see few of his friends to have a little talk to to wash away that sleepiness over himself. He had been unable to sleep the whole night which was the reason of little dark purple shadowing down his eyes. He needed a good 'PARTEY!' to wake up and Rose might make it for him if she was already in the class. So, once he was inside he looked around while he was intending to say 'Hi' to the professor but 'WHAT!'. What was this older Hufflepuff doing with Rose? Josh could recognise him from the pink hair 'pink!'. He never saw him before near her which mean they definitely were not friends plus this boy was crazy, he was mad: No good for Rose!. So ignoring the professor he quickly made his way towards where the Hufflepuff boy and Slytherin girl stood and once he was behind that boy he coughed, patting him on his shoulder ''Hey, what do you think you are up to pink boy'' he said emphasizing the last words ''She is with me'' |
Professor Shackleton-Clark vaguely greeted the remaining students as they entered. After several minutes, she glanced at her watch and stood up behind her desk. "I guess we should get started. Who can recap what we learned in the very first lesson of the term?" |
Aww, professor looked bad. Evan felt almost sad at her sight of restlessness. He watched her with worrying eyes before he raised his hand to answer. "We've learnt transit cycles, which deals with our names. It talks about our personality..?" Right? Nothing was wrong with his memory, right? |
Fyo raised his hand. "You gave us a basic introduction to Arithmancy, ma'am," he said politely. "You told us that each number has its own energy, and the combined effects of these energies impact our lives and personalities. We also discussed the Transit Cycles," he went on, "and how they reveal the events we may expect to take place in our life.' |

There was no impediment and Jake's voice was steady, which could mean only one thing... BUT Jake had to be good... see... not arouse suspicion. "Go sit down like a good boy," Jake smiled, pointing to a chair near him and wondering if the guy would sit there. "It's time for leaaaarrrning." Quote:
Okay, yeah that sounded like normal Jake. |
Rachel had been busy running all sorts of possibilities to Professor Shackleton-Clark's conditions through her mind but as the aforementioned Professor spoke, the sixth year pushed all thoughts of that out and focused on the lesson. They needed the points. "We learned about Transit Cycles - the physical transit, the mental transit and the spiritual transit. Each one is derived from different parts of your whole name - physical from your first, mental from your middle -if you don't have one then you use your last name- and spiritual from your last. They are used, like Essence Cycles, to tell you what lies ahead and offer explanations to the past in some cases," Rachel said, her hand raised. She added the last part in reference to her last homework where she had made a startling revelation. Airthmancy was SO cool sometimes. |
Marie raised her hand "We learned about the Transit Cycles which reveal the events that are going to happen in your life based on the letters in your name." |

Evelyn was becoming irritated just by the presence of Jake. He was way too close to her. In her personal space bubble. Leaning a little away from, trying to ignore him till class started, she heard the familiar voice behind. She sighed in relief as she turned around and saw Josh, making her eyes brighten and smile. 'Yay, I'm saved!' Quote:
Quote:
'No I'm not.' she thought dejectedly. For one, Jake didn't move and two, class has started so there was really nothing she could do about it without having attention brought to herself and possibly disrupting the class. Plus the Professor really didn't look all that well which could possibly mean that she was going to take the no-nonsense behavior today. Evelyn didn't want to lose any points at the moment... Giving Josh a small sad smile, she pointed to the free desk next to her, hoping he would sit there. Raising her hand to answer the question, she put it down again when there were too many people who already answered. Back to her sulking posture, she stared at the desk in front of her, drawing random circles and continuing to ignore Jake. |
Tori sat as usual listening to her classmates and her professor, remembering her last lesson. |

Macadrian recapped, "As many of you mentioned, we discussed the Transit Cycles, with special emphasis on the Physical Transit. Today we are going to review in more depth the Mental and Spiritual Transits. The Mental Transit is found from the middle name. But, what if a person has more than one middle name? What do we do then?" |
Quote:

Quote:
|
Mina raised her hand quickly. "In the case of those that have two or more middle names, they just string all the names together as one long name and go from there." |
Quote:
Lowering his hand, Jake blinked once and looked round at his surroundings. When did he get here? Not again... And the boy facepalmed. |
Fred looked up the answe in his textbook and raised his hand and answered, "I believe you put the 1st and seccond middle name to make one long middle name and you figure out you're mental transit from that.". |
Kay put her hand up. "Professor we put the names together and use it as one name." Kay said. She looked at Marie and smiled. She was glad her friend had come to class. |
"Very good. All who said that we combine them together as one long middle name are correct and shall receive one point for their houses." Macadrian stepped around to the front of her desk and perched there with one leg hitched up, "Your mental well-being, your state of mind, and your intellectual focus is revealed in the Mental Transits. When you analyze the results for this cycle, you should always keep this in mind. If your analysis isn't specific to your state of mind and mental well-being, it is incorrect." Macadrian shifted her position so that all of her weight was on the desk and both legs hung above the floor, "This is much the same for the third transit, the Spiritual Transit, which derives from our last names and reveals your well-being, your growth, and your inner contentment on the spiritual plane. All analyses of this transit should be made with this information in mind. "Who can tell me how we calculate these transits? The method for both is exactly the same, except that one is from the middle and the other from the last name. Be as specific and detailed as possible." |
Rachel took to writing down notes, trying to get word for word what Professor Shackleton-C was saying. Yes, Shacklton-C was nice; she liked it. Raising her hand as the Professor asked a question, the sixth year took a deep breath and answered, "You calculate the transits by dividing the names into individual letters. The value of the letters - according to the Pythagorean Number system - is the amount of years that letter lasts. For example, my middle name is Danielle so I would start with a 'd' which is four - so four years - and then go on to 'a' which is 1 so one year. "I would carry on until I reached my age with the values of the letters. The last letter I used would be the one influencing me right now. If you've run out of letters and not reached your age, you begin again from the beginning." She lowered her hand, hoping she had managed to get all of the information in and began writing her answer down as part of the note-taking. |
"Wouldn't we use the same process we used in our first class?" Mina asked. "Using the Pythagorean Number System to assign each letter a number, 1-9. We then add the numbers together for each name, then simplify it down to a single number. The middle name number would be the Mental transit and the last name number the Spiritual transit." |

Ew. "That pythagorrrr-something," Jake said, taking his hand away from his face and raising it above his head. "The luhhh-letters... have a... erm... like th-there's a designated nuhhh-number for them... Then you add it... and then... reduce? An' an' an' an' an' then... it ssssays in here whhhhut the final single digit..." Wait. "Wait... Th-there's a nnnnumber? You... each lllletter... has... a yearly thing... and... you count thr-through and get a lllletter... which is the thing y-you're lookin' for..." EEEEEE! BRAINFART! Lowering his hand, Jake made a face and rocked on the back legs of his chair. "Well... I think thuhh-the first part is... right." ... Hope, anyway. |
Raising her hand Marie said "Professor we would figure them the same way we did our physical transit. We use the Pythagorean Number system to determine the value for each letter in our name. Once we get to our current age that will be the letter that tells about us now." Marie got out some parchment and started figuring out her mental transit so she would be ready ifhe professor asked them what their transit was now. |
Evelyn raised her hand, finally finding a distraction. "First you would find the corresponding number for each letter in the name from the Pythagoreon Number System. After you find those numbers, you add them together to get the final number. If the final number is a double digit though, you would reduce it down even more by adding the two numbers in the final number together. Like if it was twenty-five or something. You would add the two and five together to get seven. Or at least down until it is a single digit." She wasn't so good at explaining things, but it sounded alright in her mind. Hopefully everyone else got that. Or maybe she had it wrong? "At least i think that's how you do it." she mumbled to herself, staring back down at the desk. Wasn't there also something that had to do with age or something? Or did that have to do with something completely different? Wow, Arithmancy was confusing... |

Professor Shackleton-Clark reemphasized, "Everyone should remember Ms. Rider's explanation because it is precisely correct. In order to determine the length of a particular Transit Cycle, you assign the letter its corresponding number based on the Pythagorean Number system, which is listed in chapter two of your textbook. That number is equivalent to the number of years that that particular Transit lasts. "We read the Transit Cycles just as we read a name, from left to right. We start with the first letter representing the Transit from birth, or age zero, to whatever its numerical equivalent is. The next letter picks up where the first left off and lasts the number of years that the letter represents. And so on and so forth. "I will use my own middle name as an example." Professor Shackleton-Clark made her way to the board and printed her middle name followed by the numerical equivalents below. Quote:
"Since I reached the end of my name, I start back again at the first letter of my middle name. During my 34th year of life until I turned 35, my Mental Transit was an A once again. And for one more year, from age 35 til I became 36, my Mental Transit was an S. And from age 36 until I turn 44, my Mental Transit is 'H."' Macadrian added a chart to the board: Quote:

Herminny took out her parchment and got work: Quote:

Tibi smiled. He'd already drawn up these charts after the first lesson just to see what everything looked like. Paging back through his notes, he found them to copy them down again for this lesson, smiling that he didn't have to recount on the spot. His middle name had taken a while to do, so many of the letters had large numbers attached. Quote:
|
"I knew it had something to do with age..." Evelyn whispered to herself, pulling out a sheet of parchment, her quill, and ink. Smoothing out her parchment, even if it was already perfect in the first place, she turned it slightly in an angle and started on her own name, copying the professor's example. Mental Transit Age; Transit 0-9, R (9) 9-15, O (6) 15-16, S (1) 16-21, E (5) 'Hmm, well that was short. Only used half my name! And it's a short name too...' she thought, stopping after only a minute of writing. 'So now my last name?' Spiritual Transit Age; Transit 0-6, F (6) 6-9, L (3) 9-15, O (6) 15-24, R (9) 24-29, E (5) 29-30, S (1) 'Guess both stop when I turn fifteen. Seems way easier that way anyways. Hmm...and both numbers are six. And both are on O. That's...kinda weird.' Smiling at her work, Evelyn set her quill down and glanced over to Josh, seeing what he was doing. |

Nodding as they were instructed to work out their own Mental and Spiritual Transits, Rachel set to work. Quote:
Looking up, Rachel waited for everyone to be finished so that Professor Shackleton-C could continue. |
Marie had already figured out her mental transit, now she just had to do the spiritual one. Marie's Parchment Code: J, 1 (0 to 1) |
Destiny pulled out a piece of parchment and quill. Quote:

Fred heard the teacher instuction and got to work: Quote:

Chris listened intently to the instructions and gave Rachel a thumbs up sign for her good answer. He smiled at her and Professor Clark and then began on his transits. Quote:

Feeling a bit disappointed in herself for not getting her answer right, Mina frowned. She thought she had a grasp of it but she did totally forget an essential part of it. She was too much of a perfectionist and it was going to bite her in the end. But she did see her error now. Looking down at her parchment, she went to work. Quote:

''Okay. This sounds confusing. But i think i can handle it'' Josh whispered to Rose and took his Aritmancy Textbook out his bag with some parchment and the red phoenix quill. First he had to look for the number system or whatever it was from the book so right after opening it he took a piece of parcment and started to work on it. Quote:

Guess who refreshed instead of posting and has to write it all out again? xD Quote:
Strangely furious with himself, Jake thought hard and used the textbook to help him out, still cursing himself under his breath. Quote:

Ellie stared blankly at her parchment. She had zoned out until this point, and now she saw everyone else working dutifully. She tapped her quill against her cheek as she struggled to figure out what she was supposed to be doing. She settled on writing her name on her parchment and arbitrarily assigning numbers to the letters. She didn't understand the purpose of Arithmancy, but she figured writing something down could give the appearance that she had an idea of what was going on. Quote:

Ohwheee... Transit Cycles. The girl glanced around briefly at her fellow classmates before looking down at her piece of parchment as she remembered everything that the Professor said and everything that her fellow classmates had stated. Shackleton-Clark made her way back to the front of the classroom, staring out the windows for a moment before returning her attention back to the lesson. "And now we shall analyze what we found. I would like you all to reference the textbook for your current Mental and Spiritual Transits. Write down this information into your notes and then offer an analysis of that information. That analysis should include what events in your life at this moment it might apply to, whether or not you think it accurate, and anything else you think important to comment on." |

Interpretations... BLECH. One of the things that Livvy hated to do most yet seemed to take part in her life in so many situations. She wished to petition such things, but sadly that wouldn't pan out too well. The girl's eyes wandered down to her calculations and the words that were on the piece of parchment before her. Sighing, she flipped open the Arithmancy textbook and searched for the section on Transit Cycles. For her Mental Transit, she got Z and for her Spiritual Transit, she got N. Whoopeee. From the textbook, contained the following information: "Z: This is an inspiring time. You can overcome limitations and see enormous progress in your life. Financially this is a good time as long as you put your faith in hard work and avoid schemes. You are able to make accurate judgments based on sound intuition. A new and unusual relationship will cause many changes in your life, which may include a change of residence. N: You will have opportunities to expand your horizons. There will be adventurous experiences and travel. A change of residence is very possible. This is a dynamic time with many new activities. You will make some important social contacts. You search for love and fulfillment. Sacrifice, adaptability and flexibility are called for. You will also be concerned with finances and may worry too much about these matters. You tend to be forgetful during this time. You will also feel more sensual than usual. Physical exercise is important during this period." Upon reading this, Livvy thought for a few moments about how the information related to her life and the events in her life. Quote:

Finally tapping his finger at the header of the correct chapter, Jake switched to a clean sheet of parchment and began to right some moaaarrrr. Quote:

Well this should be easy since it is the same letter, right? Wrong. Quote:
Destiny was lost. She had no idea what this was supposed to mean. 'Well, I guess I'm helpful.' Then there was new, adventurous experiences. That could mean her not being as scared of everything like she was. That is a new experience for her, not so much adventurous. 'Lack of focus? I don't have a lack of focus!' 'I think this is all wrong.' |
Kiri nodded to herself and consulted her Arithmancy textbook. As her Mental and Spiritual Transit shared the same letter, she only needed to look up one. Under T, the textbook read: Quote:
"And, er, I hadn't really played Quidditch before," she continued, "because, well, it wasn't really my cup of tea, and I wasn't too interested in it. But now I really kind of like it. It was a lot of fun." She nodded again. Then there was the part of the text that talked about "sacrifice" and "burdens", and Kiri was certainly willing to sacrifice quite a bit in her quest to... support Copernicus's quest make Hogwarts safe and werewolf-free, but something told her that announcing this in front of the professor - and the whole class too - was not a smart idea. |
Quote:
Jumping as a loud noise went off next to her, Evelyn narrowed her eyes at Jake before going to work on the assignment. 'Do we have to write down the actually event? What if we don't want to...' Evelyn picked up her quill again, staring at it for a moment before looking up the meaning of the letter she was on. 'Since they are both O...' Mental Transit Age; Transit 0-9, R (9) 9-15, O (6) Spiritual Transit Age; Transit 0-6, F (6) 6-9, L (3) 9-15, O (6) Quote:

She didn't really want to dive any deeper into the analysis than that, even though there was a ton more she could write, but seeing as she didn't want anyone to know anymore than they do now, she just left it at that. They would just think she was crazy anyways. |
Rachel, who had drifted into a daydream about little Relton Daniel, quickly crashed back into the classroom (metaphorically of course) as Shackleton-C asked them to now analyze their results. So, on both the Mental and Spiritual transits she had gotten an 'I'. According to the textbook: This is a very emotional time with many ups and down's. You are high-strung and vulnerable to stress. You are somewhat accident prone. You need to develop calmness, centeredness, and an acceptance of life. You must control your moods and not slip into feelings of self-pity and insecurity. At the same time you are very competitive and have the opportunity to achieve success and financial reward.Analysis: On both transits I am under 'I's influence and have been for a very long time. The textbook states that this is a very emotional time for me with many up's and down's and I think that it basically describes my teenage years - the ones I spent and will spend growing up so it makes sense. In reference to the Mental transit; yes, my mind is very highly strung, what with schoolwork and social problems and - back when I was ten - the fact that I was apparently a witch. Everything the textbook states is true - I HAVE been mentally depressed over the years... Not severely, she quickly adding, realising how that might sound to a teacher, but to a certain extent, yes I have. In the Spiritual transit - yet again, the book is correct. I have been quite vulnerable, especially in the past year, and the fact that I need to develop "calmness, centeredness and acceptance of life" is something I think all teenagers must learn as well as I. Also, the book states "competitiveness" and that couldn't be more true - especially at a time like this when my house is... Slightly lower in ranking than usual." Rachel cringed slightly at the thought of Ravenclaw in fourth place. As for what lies ahead - I think that the pattern isn't going to change and right up until graduation I will live everything that I have for the past six years or so. Rachel looked at the book for a few seconds, then thought about what she'd said and frowned. "Professor, how does one differ in analysis between the three transits - especially mentally and spiritually?" she asked, wondering if she had answered anything right at all. |
Kay felt like she was so far behind everyone else. She didn't understand all the number things and hoped she got it right. P - 0 to 7 O - 7 to 13 T - 13 to 15 T - 15 to 17 E - 17 to 22 R - 22 to 31 The letter O would be her Mental transit. E - 0 to 5 V - 5 to 9 A - 9 to 10 N - 10 to 15 S - 15 to 16 The letter N would be her Spiritual transit. Middle name is a 6 just like my first. Which means Duty and responsibility, love of family, humanitarian, artistic, nurturing, balanced, community service, protector, provider, passion, grace, simplicity, intuition, sympathy, marriage number. My last name is a 5 and it means Freedom, change, progressive, curious, investigative, rebellious, unconvential, resourceful, visionary, expansion, movement, healing, mercy Kay didn't have a clue what all of this meant. She looked it all over and sighed. 'What does it all mean?' Kay said softly to herself. |
Josh opened up the Textbook again to find the letters for his transits. It was weird that he hated books but the topic was interesting like eating a salty and sweet thing at the same time. *Peek* And Rose had ''O'' for both, no wonder he was going to look up for that as well. Quote:

Satisfied with the amount of time dedicated to the analyses of the Mental and Spiritual Transits, Professor Shackleton-Clark returned to the front of the classroom to move on to the next topic. "Shall we move on to the final part of our lesson? The Essence Cycle Number. What does this number tell us?" |
As Evan flipped through the pages of his book, he slowly raised his other hand. "It talks about how we will see our environment, how to be successful and behaviour." Thank you textbook. |
With a smile, Brody looked down at her textbook for a few seconds before raising her hand. "The Essence Cycle Number is is the combination of the physical, metal and spiritual transits that influence us during a particular year of our life. The number indicates what lessons we'll be dealing with during that year, as well as it says a lot about how we will perceive the environment. It also gives us an idea of how successful the year is going to be. " |
Though he was pretty clueless as to what the book said, considering it seemed to be like... *WHOOOSH! Straight over his head* Jake raised his hand. "About... lessons dddealt with in the coming year... ssssomething about be-... be-... be-have-yorr... and... milieu... What the hhheck's that mean?" |

You have to add the three Transit number together to find your Essence number. Remembering to reduce it to a single number." Kay said to the Professor. |
"Points to everyone who said that the Essence Cycle Number indicates one's perception of the environment, advises on how to be most successful during the year by guiding you to use the behaviors that will most further your success, and highlights the lessons one will learn during the course of the year. "How do we calculate the Essence Cycle Number?" |
Tibi flipped through is textbook, a little confused, and then raised his hand. "Professor, the text says to add the numbers for each transit together and then reduce to a single number." He paused. "But then the text gives meanings for some two digit numbers. Are they an exception?" |

Raising her hand, she replied, "Okay, so first you have to add the numbers for the Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Transits. When you've got that sum, you just reduce it to a single digit, and there you have it! The Essence Cycle!" |

"Your classmate here brings up a very very good point. There are some numbers that we do not immediately reduce when calculating the Essence Cycle Number. And those are the Master Numbers eleven and twenty-two, and the Karmic Numbers sixteen and nineteen. When you encounter these numbers in your calculation, you should recognize them and write them as their double digit sum, followed by a slash, and then the reduced single digit number. And you analysis should factor both the double digit information and the single. "Now, I'd like you all to calculate your current Essence Cycle Number and then proceed to analyze what the book offers for an explanation of that number." |
Eeepp. Zoning. Not good. Livvy needed to get her game going if Ravenclaw was going to try and steal back first place. In fact. ALL the Ravenclaws did. She hoped that everyone else would be making the same amount of effort that she was. Livvy found herself raising her hand to answer the question. "The Essence Cycle is basically just the sum of all the Transit Cycles added together for that particular year. So by adding the Physical Transit, the Mental Transit, and the Spiritual transit together and by taking that sum and reducing it to a single digit, we'll be able to get the Essence Cycle," she replied. Time to analyze and find it herself. Whoopee! Let's see... Livvy knew her Physical Transit was 9. Her Mental Transit was 8. And her Spiritual Transit was 5. Quote:

Glad he'd asked, Tibi turned back to his notes. His physical was B, so that was 2. His mental was E, so that was 5 and his Spiritual was R, so that was... 9. Quickly adding, he saw 16. One of the karmic numbers she'd just mentioned. Now VERY glad he'd asked, Tibi flipped to his book for 16. SPOILER!!: text for 16 Tibi read... and reread.. and stared. That was... scarily accurate. Trying not to get ahead of himself with his interpretation, Tibi reduced and flipped to the meaning for 7. SPOILER!!: textbook for 7 Ok. Now that was just creepy. Tibi looked both of the meanings over, wide-eyed. Sure, he was reading into them, but that was what you were supposed to do right? Turbulent and shocking events? Check. Loss of direction? Check. Fundamental questions about what you're doing? Check. Attempting some sort of synthesis interpretation of the two meanings, Tibi scrawled across his parchment. Quote:

6 + 6 + 5 = 17 Now reduce 1 + 7 = 8 So, 8 was Kay's Essence Cycle number. Kay looked it up in her book to find it's meaning. EIGHT (8): This is a period when business and career affairs dominate your agenda. A major new opportunity will unfold to you and you will have to give yourself to it entirely to make it work. It is a time of progress and much personal power, but the demands of the time are equally large, thus requiring careful planning and attention to detail. All business matters - including personal economies - will come under sharp scrutiny. You will likely have more money than during previous years, but, conversely, you must be more careful with it. A new start can be made. You sense the need to grasp it. But you also are aware that it must be treated with great care. Therefore, be astute in all your business dealings. Major mistakes can be made if you are not careful, and they can affect you for some years to come. It a time of cautious use of power. You are being asked to develop wisdom in all your dealings. Balance - in areas from your mundane affairs to your eminently important relationships - is the key to your success. Keep a tight control on your bookkeeping, while providing strong leadership and gentle guidance to your family or close associates. It is also a time when old issues - especially debts from the past - surface with a vengeance, making it necessary to pay the piper before further progress can be made. The irony is that while you have greater resources, there are often equally large demands made of you. This is a time, too, when you will realize that you are a survivor. No matter what difficulties you have experienced in the past, this is a period when you can regain a sense of progress in career matters. You will feel that you are doing important work, and will be richly rewarded for it. Kay read through the meaning and didn't really know how it worked for her. She had no job, but school. So scool it had to be. "Professor, I think that this means that I should work harder at my studies and not fall behind in them. Also, as to the money part, I do not have to worry about that but, I do buy thing all the time for my friends. I think it is telling me not to do that so much anymore. As to the strong leadership and being a survivor. Well the survivor part I'm going through right now with the loss of my parents." Kay stated what she thought it might to her. She had said it out loud in front of everyone and she didn't feel bad about it. Maybe this is what she needed. |

This meant not beng lazy. Grrrr. Listing down all the transit thingers on his parchment, Jake went through old notes and got to work. Quote:
Jake had to admit he agreed alot with the first paragraph, and some parts made him snort with laughter. Regaining composure, Jake inked up his quill and got to analysing. Quote:

This is going to be a lot of writing. Quote:

So Evelyn may have been a tiny bit confused on what everyone was talking about because she sorta spaced out for a moment. But well, with one quick glance at Jake's parchment, she got the idea of what to do. 'Add the three transit numbers together. Great, now I just have to remember what my first number is...' Quickly doing the math in her head, she jotted down the information and then set to work, tempted to look at Josh's parchment since he offered and ask what the heck a 'car' was since he thought it funny. Transits Physical - 5 Mental - 6 Spiritual - 6 5 + 6 + 6 = 17 = 8 Quote:
That last part didn't sound that business related to her when she thought about it. Definitely something from the past that she's paying for now, and hopefully she would actually survive it. Hopefully everyone survived it. Staring at the words, she moved her quill to the parchment, ready to write something, anything, but she didn't know what. 'Yea, progress in career. *snort* I don't even know what I want to do...' |
Marie looked back through her notes to find her physical transit from the first lesson. Once found she began working things out on her parchment. Quote:

SPOILER!!: textbook Her smile turning into a frown, Wesley bit her lip, wondering why everything kept on revolving around money and therefor, butterbeer. It was like the book was trying to tell her something important, but she just wasn't quite getting it. Quote:

Looking back between her text, parchment and her Arithmancy journal, Mina went to work on figuring out her Essence Number. Quote:
Wow...maybe I am getting the hang of this after all. Taken a little aback at what her Essence Number was telling her, she looked up in deep thought. Should she take it literally or was there more there? Quote:

Find her mental and spiritual transit, that didn't seem so hard. Nikki pulled her parchment a little closer and began to calculate her Mental Transit. Ok first, write down your name and do the number thingymabob. Nikki thought as she picked up her purple pen. SPOILER!!: mental transit So her mental transit was the letter D. Turn to the textbook and lets find out what it means. Nikki flipped through her Arithmancy Textbook, looking for the right page. Quote:

"Nice work today everyone. I'm quite pleased with how smoothly this lesson went and how easily you all recalled the concept of the Transits from the first lesson of the term. Be sure to add these findings to your Arithmancy journals if you haven't yet. Homework will be posted on the board outside my office later today." Macadrian gestured that the students could pack up and head out to their next lesson or their free period or whatever it was they had to do. As soon as she called the lesson to a close, she began puzzling over all the odd behaviors of some normally well-mannered students and whether there might be some Weasley product they all might be using that had some serious negative side effects... |
