Abby is totally confused by Professor Shakleton's explanation. She decides to do what the professor said she would be doing. By writing out thing the way the professor explains them, she hopes to better understand what the professor is explaining. M A C A D R I A N 4 1 3 1 4 9 9 1 5 "If I follow what you are saying correctly, the cycle represented by M would start from birth and last until you are four years old. The second cycle using A would just last one year starting when you turn five. It would end when you turn six. The third cycle using C would start at age seven and last three year until you are ten, and so on and so on until the end of your name. Am I following you correctly?" |
Carter scribbled some quick notes on the lesson and raised his hand while doing so. "Each letter, while it has its own characteristics, it also has it's own value or worth or number it's related to. And the length of each cycle for that letter lasts as long as that number." he said hoping he read the book right. |
Wait, vibration energy? Didn't Arithmancy have to do with numbers? NOW they were talking about energy...that sounded a lot more like Astronomy than Arithmancy to him. He sighed and looked through his book. He should have studied more before coming to class! He raised his hand as a question came to mind. "Does that mean if you have more than one of a letter in your name, it will last twice as long as expected?" he asked. "Like if, for some reason, I had two c's in my name, would the value of that letter be doubled?" He was very confused at the moment. Letter and numbers...it all just went over his head. |
Go LouAnn! Boy, she had to remember to ask her some Arithmancy stuff later, too. It wasn't the easiest subject. She glanced at her textbook for the answer to the next question, hoping to score a point this time. |
The Professor's explanation that the value of the letters was expressed in years helped ease Tiberius' confusion. He scribbled down notes furiously, to make sure he'd be able to figure out his own name later. Flipping through the chapter, he wondered what his Transits would turn out to be. |

Scribbling only a few notes down, to make sure she understood what was being said, Tammy nodded along. Mouthing each word as she wrote it as usual. Her quill scratched, really scratched as it wrote, and a little smile came to her face as she sucessfully, finished her note making, and then resumed looking at the Professor. |
Alexandra thought for a second then said, "The book says that your transit cycles are derived from the letters of one's name in direct corrilation with their influences. The physical transit is dealing with the persons first name." |
Upon hearing that she'd earned herself a house point for what she'd previously thought was a rather worthless reply, LouAnn smiled at her Arithmancy professor. Perhaps Hogwarts wouldn't be too difficult after all, hmm? She thought about what the professor was saying, then raised her hand to ask for clarification. "Professor, I have a question. So pretty much the numerical value of the letter is how long the meaning of the letter will apply to our life?" she asked. "Sooo, if my name starts with an L, I'd experience the meaning of the letter L for three years? Then so on with the letter O lasting for six years?" This Arithmancy was sort of...kind of...maybe starting to click. |
my name for example j-a-m-e--s J-initiative during this period- for one year- age 0-1 A-mental approach to practical matters-for one year- age 1-2 M-This is a time for hard work and a practical approach-four for years- age 2-6 E-You will feel inspired and helpful- for five years- age 6-11 S-Your feelings run deep and your awareness is higher than usual- for one year- age 11-12 they lead one from one another this is my physical transet! I also think i can work my mental and spirtual transits aswell |
Jack listened carefully to the Professors explanation. Suddenly, he understood. It all made sense....he wondered what his name would tell him about himself... |
Herminny huffed thinking why did I go for style rather then acucuracy in my answer. Oh well atleast nows just the time to sit back and wait for the professor to show us her transit so we in turn can learn how to do our own which was gonna be so cool. |
Damon listened closely to all that was being said. He already had hoards of notes that he had written and tried to make sure he would not lose them. The art of arithmancy was intriguing Damon in several ways. He continued to listen to the other students as they discussed their answers. |
Sloane started writing down her name to figure her information along with the Professor. S- L- O- A- N- E- She didn't have the faintest idea where to start. |
Transit What? Arithmancy was hard. Her brow furrowed, Arabelle was trying to work through what was being taught to her. She tried to figure out what she was missing and why something wasn't clicking in her head. She wrote down notes as many notes as possible and listened to every word the professor said. She would learn this stuff. |
Fallon looked at the Professor. She had no idea what she just told them to do, even though Fallon had been paying attention very carefully. She looked to Evan and everyone else near her to see if they understood. She then looked back up at the Professor completely confused. |
Mhmmm, yep. Toterly confused. And so... Jake became distracted and his mind wandered. He was okay with theory, like he was in magic, but ask him to work something out or do something, even watch something, and Jake Upstead's brain would probably implode. Looking around him, Jake saw the girl MacShack had called 'Ms. Purple' and now stuck in his brain as Marsupial, and inched over to see what she was doing. Cloooooserrrrr. Clooooserrrrrrrrr. Was she even doing anything yet? |
Jack looked up his name and figured that JACK was 1132, to he plotted it out: J >1 A >2 C >5 K >7 J >8 A >9 C >12 K >14 J >15 A >16 C >19 He was 16 for a few more months which meant that he was an A for now and then would be a C for 3 years. He looked in the book to see what it said. |
Tori who was very silent the who class yet observant. She listened, referred to her textbook and wrote notes. She decided that she would feel out the first day in class in silence. It was her usual style of beginning school, even though this was no ordinary school. She wanted to learn just as much. |
Ella was truly impressed by James's work. She followed after him. "I think this'll be my name?" Ella said, pointing to the piece of parchment she had scribbled on. SPOILER!!: Work And boy, did that suit her. Her arms ached from writing each exact word. Teehheeh. But she was still confused. Did she do it right? |

...If you lean any further, your chair is going to tip over. Just saying. |
Iris had listened to everything Professor Shackleton had said this lesson, and to everything that everyone else had said too. Last year, Arithmancy made perfect sense, so why didn't any of this form into any logic into her brain. She looked at Fallon and Aaron quickly, her face showing her confusion. She picked up her quill and twiddled it in her fingers, as she read through the notes that she had made so far, checking them to make sure that she hadn't missed anything out. |
Fred just vigorously took notes cause this subject was quite difficult and he had just started to grasp it a little. He certainly did'nt want to lose it. He looked around and saw aome students aattempting to get ahead but he decided against that and waited for the professor to write her transit cycle as she said she would so he would be sure he had an idea of what he was doing when he wrote his. |
James saw what ella had written and whispered "you need to say how long each will last e-4 l-3 l-3 a-1 |

Oh... lookit! She was deciding to share, Jake leaned even closer and just managed to read the 'work', responding with a quiet, "Huh?" But then he realised. His chair. He was leaning too f- BANG! "I'm okay!" Jake exclaimed from the floor, as he picked himself and his chair up. "I just... dropped my... pen. I mean, quill," he muttered, grabbing a quill from his desk and holding it up, pretending he'd picked it up off the floor. "Yeah..." Ahem. And Jake bent his face low to the parchment, inwardly cursing his idiocy, before looking over quickly at Marsupial. |
