Journals ? Awesome. Man she was really starting to love Arithmancy. The professor was really cool and they got Journals! Looking back up from her textbook to the teacher she waited patiently for her to carry on. |
Sara was quite anxious to learn more about arithmancy. It was truly interesting! |
LouAnn's eyes widened as the professor described Arithmancy in a bit more detail. Lavender Purple had never spoken to LouAnn about Arithmancy in that matter. Things had always been simply put, nothing was too difficult or in too much detail. Hence reason number five million why LouAnn was happy to finally be at Hogwarts. Even still, she couldn't help but to have a look of pure horror on her face. '...the combined effects of these energies impact...' Yikes! She didn't have any questions, mainly because she didn't know what in Merlin's name to ask about, so she just sat quietly and stared at the leather-bound journal in front of her. Would she, as a fifth year, have a decent profile upon graduation? She'd missed everything from first year on up so far! She sank down in her seat a little and glanced from side to side, suddenly feeling an inch tall in a room full of giants. Giants, meaning people who were well beyond her in the field of energies and impacting and whatever else the professor had just said. |
''I'm sorry professor...''her first class and she lost points...it's embarassing |
Ella glanced from Kyle to the professor, hoping she'd answer quickly so they could move on, and hopefully not lose any more points. Ella's gold eyes scanned through the textbook page once again; she realized that she shouldn't wait to be called on, just speak. Others apparently got points that way. Boy, this first year was not going to be a breeze. |
Renesme sat nervously in the classroom .This was her first Arithmancy class as she was a first year student. She smiled at the professor and raised her hand saying,"Sorry for the late answer madam,May I say that Arithmancy is a branch of magic that is concerned with the magical properties of numbers;it is a method of divination by numbers first used by the ancient Greeks. They assigned values to the letters in the names of combatants to foretell the outcome of battles.". Renesme knew some things about Arithmancy as she spent most of her childhood reading and studying her elder siblings's and parents old school books. It was thus no wonder for her family that she was sorted as a Ravenclaw. She stood shivering in her seat hoping her answer was correct. |
A journal to keep all there caculations of the kind of person Arithmancy would show them to be. Whether it actually be true or not was up in the air. She remembered that last year she thought she could'nt be the number 1 but found out all the charms of that number she never saw before. Having a journal would truly open the door to be able to look back and find the charms od you're numbers and what they make a person. This was gonna be awesome. |
Wesley grinned, face illuminated by the scary floaty things. Reaching out a tentative hand, she stroked the smooth leather book, running her fingers against the spine. It was HERS! Scrunched up low in her chair so that the glowing numbers wouldn't get her, Wesley wiggled her head, trying to take in the fact that it was hers. This was so nice of the professor! It was just like her Ancient Runes Professor and all the pretty lit- Small mouth forming a little O, Wesley blinked, all warm-fuzzy feelings vanished. She shuddered, her eyes starting to blur. The Hufflepuff quickly closed them, wincing inwardly at the prickly sting, trying not to remember. |
Warren was keen to learn Arithmancy. He sat down next to Shana, smiled at her and got out his textbook. |

"It helped me choose the perfect date for my wedding this summer and whether or not to change my last name when I married. It can be used to gain insight into what is to come in the year ahead for me and for the world. I use Arithmancy daily, to be honest." Professor Shackleton-Clark smiled, hoping that was a sufficient explanation for him and then moved on. "On each of your desks is also a piece of folded cardstock. I'd like for each of you to take your quill and your inks and make a name card for yourself. It will help me to learn all of your names faster. I'll give you a few minutes to design and display them and then we'll move on to the key topic of our lesson." |
Journals? Well that was something new to Tammy, but then again she hadn't put as much effort into any of her lessons in the past couple of years. Effort she did, but excelling past others wasn't something she found usual to do, being her. Attending, doing her homework and just ebing there. That was something she could do. Nodding, at Professor Shackleton's instructions about the journal, Tammy gave a little smile, her finger rubbing against the palm of her other hand, it was relaxing, and considering she felt really clammy in her robes, it was wiping the little sweat droplets away, which brought easy soothing to her. Like normal household muggle things did. She was a sucker for them. Nodding once more, within a matter of ten seconds. Her name abbreviated to Tammy Wood, was written on her little name card, made in those seconds previous. |
Kiri stopped flipping around in her journal and scribbled her name onto the cardboard. Of course, she'd been going to Arithmancy classes for years... Kiri Starstalker After a few unsuccessful tries, she managed to get the piece of cardboard to remain upright on her desk. |
Yay time to decorate name cards! Demetria dipped her quill in ink and began doodling away. She wrote her name in a curly font and then decorated the area surrounding it with stars and hearts and squigles. Oh how she loved the squigles. It didn't take her long to complete it, so after she displayed it on her desk, she began flipping through her Arithmancy book anxious for the lesson to start. |
Kyle quickly Took out his quill and started to write his name.. And other stuff so the Proffesor could learn his name... And he waited Patiently and smiled also waved at the Proffesor. |
Journals? that sounds cool :D Warren smiled as he listened to the teacher. |
"Alright, professor," Ella murmured. She still wasn't as confident as she was at the beginning of class. Eyeing the slip of paper, Ella designed her card with mostly hearts and music symbols; she was very artistic. Ella Westwick, it finally read. She set it upright, facing the professor. She slipped the journal through her hands and briefly looked through the empty pages. Ready to be filled? she thought, as if asking the notebook. How stupid. She smiled to herself. |
Oooooh, that was pretty darn cool!! Lucy thought that maybe this class was absolutely perfect for her. Well, this particular lesson, of course. She definitely felt the need to gain some insight into her life, and this was just perfect. And they would be receiving journals! How nice. It'd be the perfect way for her to track down everything she needed to or could know about numbers and it's relevance to life itself. One hundred percent PERFECT. Acting quite giddy, she listened to Professor Shackleton and her eyes diverted to the piece of folded cardstock. Oooh goodie!! Name tags!! Instantly, Lucy grabbed hers and began decorating it, writing her name all pretty-looking. "Luuuuuuuucy....Daaaaaawn..." she muttered quietly to herself. And as she did so, she wondered what designs she could add to it...perhaps whatever came to mind. Flowers? Leaves? Hmm... |
Destiny quickly grabbed her quill and cardstock. She wrote her name in big letters. 'DESTINY SHEPARD.' She didn't think the professor had bad eyesight, but she wanted her to be able to see it. |
''wow that sounds cool!''she thought as she started drawing her name on the card...''Ginny Potter'' http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...paper_01-1.png |
Lyra listened to what the professor was instructing them to do and looked at her card in front of her. The second year Slytherin grabbed her bag that she had placed beside her and opened it. Looking for a few moments for her quill and ink she finally found them at the bottom and pulled them both out. Placing her bag to the side again, Lyra opened her ink bottle and dipped her quill in the ink and grabbed her card writting her name on it. Lyra Riddle She then placed the card on the desk so that the professor could see her name but the card kept falling down. Mumbling under her breath Lyra folded the piece of paper to make a sort standard and it finally stood still. Lyra suddenly had a urge to say Taadaa! But decided not to.... |
Sara got out her new quill and her coloured inks. She was going to make a great name card: "Sara Elizabeth Lyons", she wrote with a flourish. Then, to complete it, she added a wreath of purple flowers. Perfect! |
Per the Professor's instructions Damon laid out his cardstock on his desk and picked up his quill. He wrote his name Damon Cunderthorne with very legible handwriting. Finishing the task he raised the cardstock up so it would be easy for anyone to see. He also made sure that it would not fall down. |
Jack sat in his seat quietly, jiggling his leg around anxiously. All of this was stuff he knew already, so he was just patiently waiting for her to move on to something else. His mind was still circling around Torin and Reese and his non-existant love life at the moment...oh, and he had Quidditch Tryouts to worry about soon. Hmmm, could they get points for creative namecards? Since Jack was a sixth year, he was pretty sure Macadrian knew his name already but one could never be sure. He grabbed his quill and some colorful ink and wrote in big, red letters: Jack Fritzera And then, just for kicks, he drew a little star in one corner and a snitch in the other. Maybe, if Macadrian didn't already know who he was, that would help her to remember him better? He was the Gryffindor seeker who loved Astronomy. That should stick out in her mind! |
Herminny upon hearing the professors next instruction dipped her quil in the ink before her annd wrote her name beautifully in cursive and placed it upon her desk to show she was done. |
Evelyn stared at her journal with a blank expression. It wasn't that she didn't like it, she just wondered if the professor would possibly let her use the one that was in her dorm. But, deciding not to ask, she leaned back in her seat in the back of the room, and listened to the professor while starring at the desk. Evelyn looked up at the professor curiously when she mentioned that Arithmancy had helped her...decide her career? Was that what she said? 'I could surely use the help.' Evelyn thought solemnly. Looking down at the desk again, she raised her eyebrows in surprise that there was in fact a piece of cardstock. 'Huh, wonder why i didn't notice that before.' Taking her quill in hand, she wrote her name elegantly across the card. Evelyn Rose Flores Putting it at the end of the desk where the professor could see it, she leaned back against her chair again and looked around the room. |
