Arithmancy Lesson One: Welcome & Transit Cycles I The large wooden door to the Arithmancy classroom is held open by magic, allowing you to see the numerous desks arranged in rows within. Golden numbers float about the room, encircling the brazieres illuminating the classroom and bouncing lazily off the desktops. On each desk is a fresh, leather-bound journal full of blank parchment and a blank piece of cardstock, thicker than the standard parchment, which is folded in half lengthwise and standing upon the desk upright. Professor Shackleton-Clark stands along the right side wall of the room, glancing out the windows onto the Grounds below. As you enter, she turns and offers a welcoming smile. This is going to be a great year! OOC: This lesson is for ALL students of ANY year. Covered So Far Start of Lesson: What is Arithmancy? Not really focusing much on his surroundings, Jake entered the Arithmancy classroom with a quick, "Hey," to Shackleton. It wasn't until he bumped into one of the MANY desks that were situated in the classroom. This was... new... ... wasn't it. "Cool... erm, room, Professor," Jake said warily, not knowing whether to sit or not as he pulled the beanie cap off of his pink hair, making it poke in all directions. |
Evan ran to the classroom, very excited. Arithmancy was one of the classes he looked forward to, and he hoped that he could do well, as he did in his lessons with father. He stood at the door for a second to look at the classroom as well as for catching his breath. He saw that it was unnecessary to run as it was empty except for a... pink haired boy. He smiled to himself, he wasn't late at all. He smiled back at the professor and said "Good day ma'am!" before he sat somewhere in the middle. He then turned his blue eyes to the guy. Pink wasn't a colour you saw everyday on a guy's hair after all. He stared half shocked, half amazed for some seconds before he realised his mouth was hung up. He snapped back to world and quickly straightened himself up, closing his mouth and looking somewhere else. His hands were suddenly very interesting. |
Herminny happilly entered the Arithmancy classroom and said, "Hi Professor Shackleton",and took a seat at one of the desks. She looked at the the leather bound journal on her desk and saw thepages were blank and thought whatever as she waited for more students to arrive. |
Classes. The other part of the school year that had nothing to do with friends, chatting or enjoying the last year. Still, Eva liked Arithmancy. At least when she had her head focused on the numbers she wouldn't have to think of other things. She walked in confidently, but not before a soft sigh as she passed the big door, just like all the other doors in the castle. "Good morning, Professor Shackleton. How do you do?" she greeted her Head of House politely as she grabbed a seat in the second row and began to collect the items she would need for the lesson. She placed the small empty bag next to the chair and looked around, studying the room with more interested than she had ever showed for a classroom. One year for now, I'll never get into a space like this again. THhnking, Eva couldn't quite tell if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Probably both, she concluded. She looked at the younger students and their excited looks. Others seemed to want to be somewhere else. She chuckled as she spotted the little kid she had talked to on the train... Evan, she remembered. The one that wanted to take all the possible classes. This is Hogwarts... Anything is possible, she decided with another chuckle. |
Sloane stepped quickly inside the classroom, not wanting to be late for her first day of classes. "Good day professor!" She exclaimed moving to an open seat and searching in her bag for her textbook. |
Thomas walked into the classroom hoping that he wasn't late or something. He tidied his hair before he entered. As he entered he said, "Good Mornin' Professor." He to one of the desks and sat on the chair in front. He was excited about this lesson. |
Hesitatingly Rayedem walked into his first Arithmancy classroom. Is this really the correct room? Well, let's just hope so. He walked through the door and saw the beautiful Professor standing on the right side wall of the room. "Good day, Professor Shackleton," he greeted, hoping that he was saying the right name to the right Professor. Then he walked on, scanning the room for an empty seat, and quickly found one. His eyes also caught Evan, who was sitting not so far from where he was standing. Not daring to talk yet, he only waved and flashed a smile. He pulled a chair and sat on it, eagerly waiting for the lesson to begin. |
Oy. Arithmancy is like Wizard MATH. Jule didn't le math in her old school but arithmancy always had a twist to it. She walked into the classroom and saw there were people there already. "Must be exciting," she said and walked to a desk. "'Sup professor," she greeted her and took a seat. |
Kyle was so happy to enter his very first lesson.. He had an open mind... He walked through the Door and said,"Hello Proffesor Im Kyle Zander Blaise.I thought that you would like an apple." Kyle reached out an apple out of his back and gave it to the proffesor. "And Might I say you look beautiful today" Kyle grinned. |
Yawning, Kiri shuffled into the Arithmancy classroom. She'd not slept well. In her dreams, she and Nancy had been chased by an army of clanking statues that Professor Kazimeriz had set upon them for failing to watch over the first-year they'd met at the feast. Blearily, she took in the changed layout of the room. The large golden numbers were too bright to look at. She squinted at them with disapproval. "Good morning, Professor," she said as she sat down at one of the desks, managing a small smile as well. She flapped her arms to shoo away one of the numbers that was floating smugly above the table. |
Torin headed into the classroom and took a seat smiling at Professor Shackleton. "Hello, Professor Shackleton!" he called out to her, ready to start the lesson. |
Nikki walked into the Arithmancy classroom, her hands shaking a little. This was her first class at Hogwarts. She wasn't really the best at Arithmancy, but she wasn't horrible. "Um...hello Professor." Nikki said smiling at the professor. She sat down at a desk and glanced at the leather book in front of her. It's pages were completely empty. I wonder what were doing... |
Fred confidently made his way into the Arithmancy classroom for his first class at his new school for he expected things to be better considering this place seemed to be much more laid back. No one breathing down your neck 24/7 expecting you to be a fighter at all times. He did'nt know the professor so he just casually made his way to a a desk and pulled out his book and casually slipped through the pages as he waited for class to start. |

First class of the year - Arithmancy. Rachel Rider strode into the classroom with a confident air about her, and headed towards her favourite seat at the front of the classroom, beside the wall. "Morning, Professor Shackleton!" she called to the Professor with a genuine smile as she crossed her on the way to her seat. "Had a good summer?" Mine was awful. Her bright demeanor disappeared for a second and anyone who had seen the slight change would have noticed that she wasn't bright at all under the numerous glamor charms she had applied to herself this morning. Yesterday - especially last night - had taught her two things. One, she had to take care of her looks since she wouldn't feel any better about herself if she looked like a hag. And two, she needed to stop thinking about her past. She was a sixth year, proud Ravenclaw and Prefect. NOTHING and NO ONE would get her down. Apart from herself - and she wasn't going to let that happen. She hoped that no one who had seen her last night was here today - only THEY would notice that she was WAY too fresh, happy and confident for it to be natural. Hopefully Shackleton hadn't seen her at the feast either... Now, what on earth was this lesson going to be about? |
LouAnn had to admit that she was more than just a little nervous as she walked towards her very first class here at Hogwarts. Arithmancy, now that was a subject she wasn't half bad at. At least she wasn't as worried about this class as she was about Divination and Ancient Runes. Those two subjects had always been difficult for her, but she'd heard the professors who taught them were really good. Seeing that the door was open, LouAnn took a hesitant walk forward and entered the room, stopping for just a moment to admire the golden numbers floating throughout the area. When she passed by the professor, LouAnn returned the woman's smile. "Hello, Professor. I'm LouAnn Purple," she quietly said, then turned to find an empty seat. She chose one that wasn't too far from where she was standing, so that she wouldn't have to wander throughout a room of fairly unfamiliar people. After getting comfortable, LouAnn sat quietly and waited for things to get started. |
Arithmancy. Fyo has said that was a good lesson. Although Brody wasn't exactly good at numbers, but still here she was walking into the classroom. "Hello Professor Shackleton." The blonde smiled, as she took a seat at an empty desk. She wanted Sylvie to sit by her!!! |

Alexandra stepped into the Arithmancy classroom and took a seat near the front. Looking up she greeted the Professor,"Good Morning Professor! " Then she returned to pulling at the sleeve of her robe nervously |

"Thank you, Professor Shacketon." she added. By the corner of her eye she spotter Rachel Rider coming in. Seems that she's not that hard to find after all... she thought, still bothered that Rachel was her first and most reliable choice. Then, she gave a better look to the younger girl,. Boy, she looks awful... she couldn't help to feel pity and a large curiosity to find out what had happened to the girl. I hope her uncle is okay, though, Eva thought, surprised by her own kindless to her only true enemy in the school. I think this summer was bad for me.. I'm becoming too soft... Me, worried about Rachel Rider? I should probably go to ST. Mungo's for a checking exam. |
Arithmancy! so that was the first class of the term? ..........why did it had to be a class she was bad at? bleh Sighing deeply Lyra entered the classroom and quickly walked over towards a desk and sat behind it on the chair. She noticed the professor at the front of the class . "Good morning professor" she said smiling Even though she hated the class itself, the professor always seemed like a nice person. |
Ooh. A lesson. As Livvy made her way into the Arithmancy classroom, she couldn't believe her luck in getting a distraction so quick into the term. She had been afraid that she'd have to wait for another week. But nope. Thank you Professor Shackleton! Her hero. Upon entering the classroom, smiling gently and quite convincing, Livvy waved to the professor and said, "Hello Professor Shackleton! Did you have a nice summer?" It was only polite to ask, which was why everyone kept on asking her. And she couldn't expect everyone else to have such a horrible summer like her. Looking away from the Professor and to the desks, she noticed Rachel. Her smile that was plastered on her face stopped dead. After the feast, Rachel had left rather quickly. Livvy could only take it as a sign that Rachel didn't want her around her as of the moment. Sighing, she took a seat a couple of desks down. She would. Until Rachel was ready. Livvy tried to focus her attention on the floating golden numbers, trying her best not to look at Rachel. When Rachel was ready... she'd be ready. She didn't want to rush into it all. Forgiveness is a slow process. |
