Alessia was looking around at the classroom. She placed a bag of sweeties at everyone's desk and waited for the students. "There done..." This room just had a weird vibe to it...

Kaiyo stared dumbfounded around the class. She knew nothing! The girl's eyes were wide in fright as she desperately began to scribble down what everyone was saying, they even seemed to know more than the teacher. Kaiyo glanced down to Kylie's notes, trying to see if she understood any of the information being fired at them. The blonde girl paused in her writing, vaguely, sort of, possibly remembering something on transits.

Kay wrote 35 on her paper. She looked at all the numbers and..."Professor," kay had put her hands in the air, "to start with your letter would be I and that turns into the number 9. 9 stands for Completing." Kay stop talking after that. She didn't want to go though all of it, when everyone else seemed to be talking at the same time.

Destiny raised her hand. 'Well in artihmancy we use the numbers 1 to 9 and in runes each number stands for a certain rune. Soo, maybe we can use the runes to stand for each number in arithmancy?'
Hopefully the professor would understand her because Destiny surely didn't.

Evelyn had no clue as to how runes fit into Arithmancy. 'Well there are numbers...' she started to think, but was distracted when Destiny spoke up. Looking over at her, she gave her a smile and thumbs up. 'Great answer' she mouthed and then turned back to the professor. 'That makes sense.'

Kay raised her hand. "Professor, wouldn't the number and runes some how go together?" Kay stated. "Couldn't we match the numberS to a rune and used it that way?" Kay looked over at Lorcan and wonder if he was ok. He looked like he had forgotten something.

......Transit Cycles? Evan was there at the lesson but.....nope, he just let the others take it. He was better at Runes than Arithmancy.

And here came his question, the relation with the Ancient Runes. He raised his hand. "As they both talk about the... present and the future, they should support each other." Transit Cycles talked about the present and future, right? Right?

Marie thought about this for a minute, how could the two fit together? Raising her hand with hesitation Marie stated "could it have anything to do with the numbers that are used n both?" She wasn't really sure about this but she didn't want to sit there and not answer. She didn't want the professor to think she wasn't paying attention in class.

Chris raised his hand. "Professor the Transit numbers represents how that transit will play out for the person. Well you could use the number of the transit you are looking at and match it up with the Rowling Alphabet Rune and then you could get a reading that way." he finished.

Professor Shackleton-Clark reentered the room, beyond flustered and slightly annoyed. She still couldn't find her wand! Where on earth could the darn thing be!?! Hmph! She approached the front of the room where Alessia stood and muttered softly, "Sorry about that. I thought I had a hunch where my wand might be, but no luck."

She heard the students discussing the connection between Ancient Runes and Arithmancy and thought she'd entered at a good time to start the most important part of the lesson - the practical part, showing them the connection. Macadrian decided to give them a few more minutes to debate the relationship of the runes and numbers, then she'd move the lesson along.

"Let me guess," Jake suddenly exclaimed, talking fluently and looking up at the heads of Slytherin and Hufflepuff houses. "A great jumble of numbers and letters to make the happiest alphabet in all the magical kingdom... ahhhhh, such tranquility," he sneered mockingly, tipping his chair onto its back legs and resting his feet on the desk.

Pssssshhh. Runes. These kids were better off in the real world. Lupa hadn't even recognised the stones he had shown her... passed them off as nothing. If they knew what was good for them, they would just leave the class right now.

Hmmm...

Not that Jake was complaining about her ignorance.

"Runes and Arithmancy are pointless," he sneered again, examining the finger nails on his right hand. "What use are they against... dark arts? Look at the professors... someone who can't tell a real set of runes when she looks at them, and someone who doesn't even know where her wand is."

Smirking, Jake held back a little laughed and then stopped. He blinked once... twice... and looked around himself. Wait... what?

But then, he blinked again... and stretched his arms out before placing his hands behind his head (a posture he had picked up from Lawson). "The relationship... both ridiculous."

Evelyn raised her eyebrows and stared wide eyed in surprise when the Jake kid started to act like...well her brother really. 'What's wrong with him? Doesn't he usually stutter or something as well?' Frowning, and eyebrows furrowed in concentration, she watched his movements carefully.

Actually she pretty much agreed with him, but she wouldn't word it like that...or say it to the professors for that matter. 'Great, this class better not turn out like the last Ancient Runes class.' she thought, glancing worriedly around at everyone. She really did not want to have another repeat of that class, especially with what happened to her hands since they were just becoming un-sensitive!

"The kid has a point. About the Ancient Runes thing at least. Although I think he's probably referring more to the Professor than the actual subject. It seems a little personal, what with you bringing up those things." Reid said, in a nonchalant tone of voice. The kid, Jake he believed his name was, was correct. Ancient Runes was just a waste of time. "Arithmancy however is actually a valuable skill. Also the professors can't help losing a wand."

Blinking Reid suddenly realised what he said and looked in shock at Professor Lupa. He had just insulted his head of house. All because of that reason. The reason being that he had way too much of a foot in mouth disease. Oh oh. And he was sitting right next to Rachel. He really hoped Rachel wouldn't take this as a bad sign.

Deciding to try and dig himself out of his own grave he added, "Although I am sure that Professor Lupa can tell a real set of runes from a fake set. And I'm also sure that Ancient Runes wouldn't seem like such a waste of time subject if it weren't for the fact that it kills my brain trying to study for it. In fact if I understood even a quarter of what I don't I'm sure my opinion would be completely different." Hopefully his frantic backpeddling wouldn't make his situation worse.

K raised her hand, "Well professor both subjects use numbers so you could use the transits cycle letters or numbers to place it with a rune number to predict your life or find out an awser to a question through both numbers." K was hoping she mad sense of that anwser.

K then also agreed hoping with her classmates hopping there would be no fights and other such things this class as there was last time. "That would be horrible" She said to her self.

As color rushed back to her face, her cheeks reddened with anger. She fought to keep her voice calm, "I beg your pardon, Mr. Upstead? If you think the subjects that Professor Lupa and I teach are so pointless, then perhaps you shouldn't have bothered to attend this lesson.

"And as for your opinions of Professor Lupa and I, you might want to learn some self-restraint on that mouth of yours. It could land you in a serious bit of trouble. So I suggest you either keep your mouth shut and sit quietly throughout the remainder of this lesson, or you march your butt right out of my classroom and don't bother returning." Professor Shackleton's eyes were severe. She'd never appeared so hostile in front of students before.

Jake laughed. The fool actually laughed.

"Perhaps..." he said, nodding his head as though he was fairly thinking out the situation. In actual fact he hadn't decided to come to this lesson, but that would be pointless to explain. Oooooh, she was getting angry.

"Right you are, Professor..." Jake grinned nastily up at the woman, pulling out his wand. "But see... out of the two of us... I'm the one with the wand... You gonna make me get out of..."

At that instant, Jake blinked once more, snapping out of it and staying out of it. He pulled his feet off of the table and dropped his wand as though it was white-hot.

Ugh. Not again. He'd just have to play along this time, or Lupa would be VERY suspicious.

"I may not have a wand, Mr. Upstead, but I am powerful enough to see you out of this classroom, one way or another. And I'm fairly sure that Professor Lupa's wand is in perfect working order, so you may want to choose your next words wisely or you'll be sitting in detention at best, and suffering something much more unpleasant at worst."

Scooting his chair back up to his desk and wishing that Lupa had not insisted on sitting him in the front row, Jake's stomach flipped uncomfortably. What the heck had he just done? Something stupid, no doubt. Threatened her? Great, just PERFECT!

Nodding frantically with his head directed towards the desk, his wand laying forgotten on the floor, Jake reached out for the sweets on his desk, finding enough of his voice to say, "Yes, Professor," in response to the summons to her office after class and got to work trying to open the bag.

But one thing she said stuck in his mind... he wasn't out of control...

Arrick watched the exchange between the professors and the Hufflepuff student he recognized as usually slightly crazy--today VERY crazy, considering he just threatened the professor--and wondered vaguely if there would ever be a proper lesson in this whole odd and balmy school.

Were there even supposed to be exams? Were they actually supposed to learn anything worthwhile? Arrick sure couldn't tell, but he supposed examinations would be just as much of a joke.

Carter watched the conversation... or yelling match... between his classmate Jake and the Professor. Wow, this kid was strange. He had been in the hospital wing a few times and he heard some rumors that he was always around when weird stuff happened. Or was causing the weird stuff. Either way when he had first met Jake he was a lot nicer.
