Kay put her hand in the air again. "Professor, we worked on the Transit cycle. The first cycle is the Physical and it stands for the physical well being of the person. It is use with your first name. So, by use the ABC's and the numbers 1 though 9 you find your number. At the age of 17 my number was 6. It stands for Nurturing. This tells me that I would be good at teaching and family natter." Kay stated to the Professor. Kay felt that she was gooding pretty well in class so far. |
Jack started taking notes on a nice clean peice of parchment. First, listing all the Rowling Runes, wanting them handy...a Professor misplacing a wand, how unusual...transit cycles, right, now I remember... |
Last lesson?Errr... Okay... so what does Via remembers about it? It's about.. .about... She raised her hand... "Professor... we learned last lesson about the three transits which shows the things we are supposed to be achieving in a certain period of our lives based upon our names," she said. |
Chris raised his hand as he thought of what they had accomplished in the last Arithmancy lesson. "Well Professor Lupa, in our last Arithmancy class, we studied Transit Cycles. We learned that there are three types of Transits, the Physical, Mental, and Spiritual ones. Each one of these is derived from one of your names. The physical Transit is from your first name, the Mental Transit is from your middle name, and lastly the Spiritual Transit is from your last name. Each letter of the name you have chosen, which depends on the Transit you want to find, lasts as long as the letter's value on the Pythagorean Number System." he finished with a smile. That had taken alot of breath! |

Okay, so...last Arithmancy class---Transit Cycles. "Well, we studied the three Transit Cycles. We worked on determining our Physical Transit and figuring out what that meant for us," she recalled. "You can add together the numerical value of each of the letters in your name, then you can find out...well, ...find out something like how many years your name will last. Or something like that...then it starts over again with the value of the first letter of your first name." |
Ella lay back on her seat, thinking. "Last lesson, we learned the physical transits of our first name?" Ella replied, it sounding more like a question than an answer. She saw familiar classmates, giving some of them a small smile. |
Ginny raised her hand"Professor Lupa, last time we studied three types of Transit Cycles...Physical,Mental and Spirituals, and we tried to figure out what our Physical Transit mean for us,and we find how many years our name will last adding the numerical value using each letter of our first name"....She said taking a deep breath"Maybe i spoke too fast"she thought as her face turned red, matching with her hair.. |
Nataly frowned, trying to remember what they learne din the Arithmancy lesson. She didn't focus much on the lesson, and the subject was hard to her. But she still raised her hand. "We learned about the transit sircles: the Physical cycle, the Mental cycle and the Spiritual cycle. With them, you can know what awaits you in certain years of your life, according to your first, second and surename." |
Fred decided to give his take on the previous Arithmance lesson and said, "Well professor, we basically learned about how the letters of our names, first, middle if you have one, and last stand on pythagorean number system 1-9 going in alphabetical order. With this information we learned how to use them to figure out the different transits. Physical representing first name, middle representing mental transit, and spritual representing last name and if you don;t have a last name mental and spritual transit is the same as you're last names transit. To figure out our transit we were taught to use the 1st number that repesented the 1st letter of our name in and that represented age 0-whatever number is represented by the 1st letter of you're name. From there we were taught to keep adding on the number the letter of each of the letters of our name each time till we reach our age and that supposedly tells us the transit we are in now and with it we can also find out or transit for the future and when our age exceeds the number the letters of our name or we want to know the future beyond that certain age represents you basically go back to the top and start all over again.". He hoped this made some sense, he wlaus felt he was rather terrible at explaing things but he had to try cause Gryffindor needed the points and he was glad he did. |

O_O Runes... Ugh. WHY was it that she did well in almost ALL her subject BUT for Runes? And Divination for that matter - thank goodness she had dropped it. Apparently she was only good with the numerical side of predicting. Aha! What they did last lesson in Arithmancy - now THAT was a question she could answer. Taking a minute or two to complete her note-taking of the Runes material, Rachel was just about to raise her hand when she realised that Lupa's question had been answered multiple times already. Eh, well... She'd try and get the next Arithmancy question- Wait. WHERE was Shackleton?! Nuuuu!! With her gone this would become an- an- Ancient Runes lesson. EEEK! |

Kay saw Lorcan look at her. he didn't seem happy. Had Kay given the wrong answer. She thought to herself about what she had said. 'No' Kay thought I think it was right. Kay thought maybe she would answer any more questions for a while. She put her hands in her lap and staired at the candy in front of her. |
"Alright... so..." she said a bit embarrassed, "Let's say I still don't understand.... which... I do." she giggled nervously. "But let's just say I don't... could anyone tell me my transit...majigers...? My name being Alessia Nicoletta Lupa?" She asked. |
He raised his hand again. "Just your physical transit, Professor? For your first name? For what age? Your current age?" |
"Erm, Professor?" Kiri asked uncertainly, raising her hand. "I'd need your, um, age. To be able to figure out the Transits." She blushed slightly. It felt a bit intrusive, asking that question. |
Nataly opened her Arithmancy textbook, searching for the numbers of each letter. She wanted to be the first to answer, so she had to hurry up. She started writing Lupa's transit circles on a parchment. Quote:

Alexandra groaned internally. These were easily her worst subjects all rolled up into one. SHe didn't understand either of them and it irked her to no end. She listened as the others spouted off answers and tried to understand. |
Kay wrote down the information that she would need to do the Professor name. She heard other asking for her age. Kay Looked At Marie when she asked. She sat waiting for the Professor. |
Head, meet desk. Desk, head. WHAM! Jake slammed his head forwards onto the desk in front of him, knowing, just knowing that his concentration problems had really messed him up good this time. He sighed and kept his head down, waiting, but at the same time trying to think without any visual distractions. "Guh!" he exclaimed, irked by his stupid memory loss from the last class. Meh, the rest could handle this. Yup. |
"Oh.... uhmmm Physical, mental and spiritual... and uhmm age... 35..." Way to make yourself feel old Less! "Go on..." |
Kiri opened her notebook and started scribbling. Transit Cycles meant lots of calculation... SPOILER!!: "Well," Kiri announced after a while, putting her quill aside, "your, er, Physical Transit is I, your Mental Transit is A, and your Spiritual Transit is P. I think." She flipped open the chapter on Transit Cycles in her heavy Arithmancy textbook. "Do you, er, want to know what each of the Transits means, Professor?" |
Evelyn stared around at everyone and listened to their answers. She completely forgot what they had studied in Arithmancy so far, and how to do it. Her curiosity took over though when some of the students were writing something down and then asking for the professor's age. Smirking, she stared at Professor Lupa, wondering if she would say it. 'Wow, how old is she? Thirty? Thirty-five?...Fifty? Nah she's not that old.' Evelyn thought, making her giggle a little, hiding it behind her hand and pretending to cough instead. Clearing her throat, she glanced around the room again, seeing Josh to her left. She smiled and waved to him then turned back to the professor, waiting for the answer. 'Oh, thirty-five! Sweet, i got it right on the second try!' She would let everyone else do the actual calculating though. |
SPOILER!!: Ze Work? Copernicus hemmed over his parchment. He'd only done the physical to give everyone a chance to participate, so he was already done with his section. "Your physical transit for the age 35 is I, and it indicates that this is a time of physical and emotional stress for you. But if you can find a calm center and acceptance of your situation, then you can avoid insecurity and even find some level of personal and professional success." |
