Jake raised his hand again, feeling a touch more happier than he had been... a touch more confident. "Erm, Quintaped... isn't that the 5 legs? Maybe that's... different. Because not many species have 5 legs... even in mythology... I think. And... stable... after all, the number five makes me feel dead safe. I dunno."

He dropped his hand again, and bit his lip. Okay, maybe not so confident.

Quintaped. Brody looked down at her textbook, trying to think of what the meaning could mean. A few moments later she raised her hand. "Well Professor...The Quintaped is one of the most dangerous of magical beasts, so maybe the rowling rune could mean danger...and also the quintaped is only found one one island. So maybe it could also mean isolation."

Jacoby raised his hand yet again "Umm... Well i know that the meaning of the number 7 is luck. so a lucky person. Or even Adventure since the rune is so unknown. So it might be like exploration or Ambition to discover what is yet Unknown." why does everything sound better in your head than it does out loud.

Sylvia raised her hand quickly. She knew this one!

"Hydra has 9 heads, and that's why it symbolizes the number niiine."

Mina raised her hand. "Well, the Hydra represents the number 9, due to it's nine heads. Maybe it a guardian of some kind. In Greek mythology, the Hydra guarded the entrance to the Underworld."

"No, unless you want me to say that a unicorn is a horse," Theo frowned, his arms folded. "Like you are a wolf." He hated her. He hated her beyond belief. He continued to rock back on his chair with his arms folded.

K raised her hand, "Professor the Quintaped is rune number 5 because of the five clubfooted legs it has. A Quintaped has a particluar taste for humans so it could mean death because of its taste for humans."

She then went back to the text book and found the unknown rune which was 7 "The unknown rune, it looks like a jem or somthing so it could mean wealth or something like Prosperity because 7 is a number which is assiocated with good things."

K looked at the last rune "I'm not sure on the Hydra one though, but I will take a stab at it The Hydra has nine legs so that is why it stands for nine from what I can remember that the Hydra are from Greece or around that area and a Hydra can regrow heads one or two at a time from what else I can remember, so the meaning may be terror becuase it is hard to kill." K really hoped she did well with her anwser for it took a while to get them and she really wanted to do well.

LouAnn started to reply to the professor, but she stopped when Theo spoke up and made a comment about Professor Lupa being a wolf. Theo was a good friend of her's, but LouAnn definitely didn't share his opinion on wolves. She glanced over at Theo, then turned back to the professor. Maybe Professor Lupa hadn't heard that comment...

"I...erm..." LouAnn stopped her babbling and raised her hand instead. "There's a legend about the Hydra, one that deals with Hercules trying to defeat it. He found that when he destroyed one of the Hydra's nine heads, two more grew back in its place. I think that symbolizes the fact that we can often times bite off more than we can chew. Meaning, sometimes we attempt to take on more than we can handle."

She stopped for a moment, took in a deep breath, then lowered her hand. "I think it's a warning that maybe we are attempting to do too much at one time, and therefore we should back off from some of our endeavors so that we can focus wholeheartedly on the ones we can successfully handle."

Copernicus studied the runes in the text before raising his hand again. "Professor, the Quintaped rune is representative of the number five. I guess... perhaps being lost or an inability to focus. A lack of planning or foresight." He tapped his fingers on the desk and tried to picture the hairy monster. "What about being off balance?"

He failed. But not as much as the pest who was talking back to Professor Lupa. Cope leaned forward and smacked the kid on the back of the head. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to open your gob unless it was helpful?"

"One point to everyone who answered." She said smiling.

She looked at the boy unsure of what to say... then she smiled and added "Werewolf, actually... quite a few more X's on my ministry ranking..." She said trying to play it as a joke. Truth was, she was hurt... not by him calling her a wolf, but by what he meant by it.

"Master Kettleburn! There is no hitting in my class... I care not what the reason." Though it did make her feel better at least some students cared about her feelings...

K smiled and went "Thank you Professor I really love this class it's fun and your a very nice professor and I'm proud to be in your house." She smiled hoping it would make her professor happy and stuff after what just happened.

Theo was there rocking, minding his own business, when a something hit him on the back of his head. He turned around to see that Copernicus had leaned forward and was now shouting at him. He rocked back, leaning against Cope's desk. His hand extended and hit the obnoxious kid round the face, "Did your mother never tell you to never interrupt where it doesn't concern you?" How dare he hit Theo? Stupid older kids thinking they were better than everyone else. Theo was only 3 years younger.

"X's doesn't make you better than a common muggle wolf, Professor," he smirked. Why was he being so vile? It wasn't a normal characteristic of himself. It must be the proximity of the werewolf. It just brought out the bad side of him.

He turned around and smirked at Cope. Haha he got told off for hitting Theo. Even if his head did hurt he was better than Copernicus Kettleburn.

james could belive his ears what was this boy saying! " how dare you what gives you the right to say that do you no anything about her or werewolfs, or are you just a little boy that thinks everything he thinks is everything everyone else should" james said with real anger

Zoe couldn’t just sit here and say nothing. Maybe if she spoke up about the classwork the professor would be able to move the class away from the two boys who where fighting. She couldn't believe the vile Slytherin boy was being so awful to a professor. And such a nice professor. She couldn't help what had happened to her.

In the end she guessed that making an attempt was better than nothing, but she so hated to be wrong. Once she opened her mouth of course she then had some serious trouble closing it again. Quickly, she raised her hand before she could change her mind and wimp out.

She bit her lower lip and blurted, "Maybe the legend of how the Quintaped came into existence has something to do with the meaning. If they were really created due to some misconceived magic then maybe it would mean that you are being too hasty in your decisions or ideas and need to slow down a bit. These decisions could be potentially dangerous and harmful to people, since the Quintaped specifically thirsts for humans”.

Pausing for some much needed oxygen she glanced at her book and started again, “The unknown kind of looks like some type of squid, you could be having issue with getting tangled up in other people’s problems. And I think that you are a wonderful professor and that close minded vile little boys should keep their disgusting opinions to themselves”.

Oh, that last part was something she wished she would have kept to herself. She knew that it was not what she should have done the moment she was saying it, but it was too late to stop herself. She slumped in her chair a bit and continued to clean the chocolate out from under her fingernails. At least she had spoken in class today.

"Hey please lets just all calm down before trouble starts." What is it with these boys K thought. Though she would love to say something to help out the professor but it would have been way too awful and it would not help anything.

Evelyn silently applauded 'Master Kettleburn' for smacking the other student. Although, she had something else in mind for the student, his way was probably better; plus she probably would've gotten points taken away, including a detention, so she kept her hands folded on the desk and sat silently, glaring at the one who spoke about the Professor being a wolf.

Though, when he spoke again, she literally almost lost control. 'Dang! Keep it together Ev!' She keep feel the magic at her fingertips, heart pounding, gripping the desk as if her life depended on it. 'Don't do anything, don't do anything, you'll get into trouble.' she repeated in her mind. 'That guy is such a...ugh!' Suddenly smelling something burning, and her hands were warming up pretty fast. She looked down at her hands to find smoke rising up, making her jump up from her seat. "Argh!" waving her hands around as if they were on fire. After a few seconds, she calmed down and quickly sat in her seat, embarrassed, trying to hide her face, noticing, to her horror, that her hand prints were burned into the desk. She stuck her arms over the prints, hiding them, and slouched lower into her seat, trying to become invisible, still glaring at the boy who spoke about the Professor.

Jack slouched down in his seat. This lesson had gotten ugly really fast. He shot a nasty look over at Theo--why was he doing this? Wasn't it obvious that Lupa was still distraught over what happened? It wasn't HER fault what she had done. He bit his lip to stop himself from laughing when Cope gave the boy a nice smack on the head--good. He deserved it! He shot Copernicus a little smile, quite glad that SOMEONE had done something about that, before doodling on his parchment. This was getting...awkward. VERY awkward.

"I apologize, Professor," Copernicus gave her a grin, unconcerned if he was really in trouble or not. It was doing the right thing, right? "But you do recall that you once asked me to defend your honor? I was just doing as you wished."

Copernicus reeled back from the slapping, his hands closing on the edges of his desk in an effort not to launch himself forward to beat the ever loving snot out of the prat. His knuckles went white on the desk, but he stayed seated. "You are interrupting class, and I"m an NEWT student. I think it concerns me. It also concerns me that you're a bigoted jerk who spews madness in class while the rest of us just want to get on with things. Do NOT tempt me, sir. I know a stitching charm that will force you to eat out of your ears for the rest of your life. SO. JUST. SIT. DOWN."

This class had certainly taken a different turn, hmm? LouAnn's eyes traveled from Theo to Copernicus to the professor, and she watched the back and forth drama with wide eyes. She didn't want anything bad to happen to either one of them, but she had to be truthful and admit to herself that a charm that would force someone to eat out of their ears---eww---seemed pretty useful. Not that she actually wanted to see that seventh year Ravenclaw boy cast it on Theo, though. She glanced back up at the professor, waiting to hear what she'd have to say. Maybe they could just move on with the lesson...

Tee hee. Theo had just been PWNED!

And before Jack realized what he was doing, he had clapped his hands together twice in applause. Once he realized what he had done, however, he coughed awkwardly. QUITE awkwardly, actually. It sounded like he was having a bit of a fit.

Blushing, he finally calmed down, hoping that his little cover up had worked. If not--then OOPS. But whatever, Cope was soooo right and Theo shouldn't have said that to Lupa. The poor Professor looked like she'd be in tears in a few minutes, and he didn't blame her.

"I'm glad," she said and smiled.

"Master Newtington! I just said No Violence! Another outburst and I'm sending you to detention!" She said.

"Please Master Black, let me handle it." Alessia was starting to get nervous.

"Great, thank you." She said... "I think I have enough now..." she said trying to continue the class.

She nodded to the girl and began writing on the board.

"The nurse's office is a floor below dear." She said pointing to the door...

"I Understand, but please... lets not get carried away..." she told him trying to calm the kids.

"sorry proffeser i just don't think people should be able to get away with things like that......." james quickly shut up and waited to be told what to do next, but if that boy said one more thing..... james did'nt no if he would be able to control himself

Celandine turned her attention on Theo, a faintly puzzled expression on her face.

"I am a little boy am I?" Theo frowned, "I am bigger than you. And older than you." He shook his head, "Now then. That is a silly point. Since I do not believe everyone should believe what I do. I was merely stating my point with conviction. If everyone were to believe that werewolves were meant to be kept by the Ministry, and tagged, then this would be an easy place to be right now."

"And I can cause your bones to be found on the outside on your body," Theo smiled, vindictively. "I'd rather eat out of my ears than have no bones at all Copernicus. Oh and as for NEWT student. You could learn more from the text book. It would be less likely to bite you as well."

"Sorry Professor. It was self defence. Professor Dumont said it was allowed," Theo smirked, sarcastically, "He attacked me first."

"I'll go after class, Professor." Evelyn mumbled, trying to put on a small smile. Looking down at her red and blistered hands, wincing as she tried to close them, her mind was screaming for her to get out of there before she hurt someone else. But she stayed still, not moving, waiting for the lesson to continue, calming herself down even more to the point where she actually felt tired.
