Top of the Stairs Headmaster Bontecou stood on the highest landing between floors one and two. The water lapped over the top of the stairs, making the marble very slippery. The water level seemed to continue rising and would soon make it to the second floor if they didn't stop it. Hmm... Well, as his mother always said, "When like gives you lemons, Reynard, make lemonade." And that's exactly what he intended to do. First, he draped a big fluffy beach towel (blue with a bronze eagle, of course) over the railing. Then, he shucked off his shoes and took his wand out of his robe pocket. A quick flick of his wrist across the water turned it bright orange for a moment before it went back to looking as dark and cold as before. Rey stuck a toe in the water and nodded approvingly. Now, this was the part of his plan that he hadn't quite thought out. He was ready but there weren't any students around..... |
Copernicus liked to come and stare at the water and relive his glory moments saving Anna's life... and then run away when the fathomless dark seemed to overwhelm him. But on this visit, he found the Headmaster there. With a... a towel. Very ill-advised. Don't ask. Don't ask. Don't - "Headmaster? What are you doing, sir?" |
He perked right up at the sound of footsteps. Not wanting to seem overeager, he waited until the student finished their approach and spoke before he turned around, beaming. "Ah, Mr. Kettleburn. You're right on time! Head back to Ravenclaw tower and put your swimming trunks on. Oh and bring a towel. I've warmed up the water in this area a bit and I'm going to hold some swimming lessons," he grinned and then made a show of stretching his arms. |
Someone told her the first floor was flooded and for some reason she wanted to see the water even thought it scared the chocolate out of her. So she thought she would be alone as she stood ad watched the water but coming around the corner it was the Headmaster! And of course Cope. And here Paris was in a pair of jeans and grey tunic. Not looking her best. "Uh...I was just..." She looked at the Headmaster and the lie she was trying to come up with just slipped her mind. She shook her head. "Are you going for a swim sir?" she asked him when she noticed the beach towel. |
Celandine was never really far from Copernicus if she could help it, but rather than question what the headmaster was doing, Cela was distracted by the towel. WOOO GOOO EAGLES! She stroked the cloth with her little finger and eyed the water warily. "There might be grindylow in there." |
Dani had been bored. She had seen Cope and had followed him. "Ooh swimming lessons?" She smiled at the Headmaster, wondering if he remembered her from the tapestry. The water was really deep though.. "That's really deep and I can't swim." She frowned at the water. She missed all the fun. |
"Sir! Isn't the water very dirty and full of dangerous... things?" He peered into the darkness and shivered. Still... they swam in the lake, right? RIGHT? "Swim trunks, you say? In the school?" Yes, he was definitely thinking about it. |
Satine had wondered down to the first floor to see if the water had risen any further and was surprised to see the headmaster and some familiar faces by the water's shore. As she approached she saw a beach towel in her favorite colors...Go Ravvie!...and walked a little closer to investigate. As she did she heard the headmaster mention swimming lessons. "O I love swimming and would love to help out!" she said with a smile and turned on the spot running back up to the Ravvie Dorms to grab her swimsuit and a towel so she could go swimming......I mean she couldn't pass up the chance to swim in the Great Hall...that doesn't happen every day you know.... |

Torin was wandering down to see how far the flooding was going - so he could see for how much longer he would be safe - when he saw the Headmaster and a few students near the water. And there was talk about swimming lessons? What on earth? Well, he was a good swimmer... Even though the memories of the water terrified him. But then he might as well face his fears. Sooner than later and all. "I'm up for swimming lessons." |

She was up for a good swim especially one in the middle of the school and one that the Headmaster sanctioned. And she did have a another new bathing suit. Her white one had been wasted on pushing Anna into the lake. Best to keep that information to herself. |
Dani nodded as she listened to him. "Umm. One problem. I don't have a bathing suit. I guess I'll just watch." She looked at the other kids. Too bad. Would have been fun. But watching would be fun too. |
Oblivious that it was flooded, Reese headed down to the first floor corridor. She left all her school bag up in her common room since she wasn't planning on using anything in it. As she got to the first floor, she noticed that it was flooded. What? Whaaaaat? When did THIS happen? She did not like this flooding stuff. It was just getting ridiculous. And, what if the water went all the way to the seventh floor? They would be doomed. As she thought about the flooding, her eyes wandered to the little ground of people. She blinked a few times, then headed over to them. "Headmaster," she said. "What's going on?" Then, she noticed the beach towel. Ohmygosh. Was he going swimming? "I want to go swimming," she commented. |
With the reply from the Headmaster, Torin quickly left the room and headed upstairs. It was times like this that he missed having a Common Room so close to the main floor. But that was besides the point, really. He quickly ran up the tower and into his Dorm room, getting his swim shorts and all. Then he ran back downstairs figuring that he looked weird running around in shorts. When he reached the top of the stairs again, he was out of breath. "Reese," he panted out to his friend. "You want to go swimming with me?" |
Getting little to no sleep what so ever William had decided to go for a walk and stretch his legs out so to speak. He didn't even bother putting on a robe today, just a pair of loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt. Walking down the way he stopped, blinking at the students and ... was that the headmaster standing there around the flooded water? Well this he had to check out, his nosiness coming out of him as he approached the group hearing someone say something about swimming lessons. Stopping beside Satine, the girl he remembered from his first flood water encounter he blinked at Bontecou and grinned. "Swimming sounds fun." he wasn't scared of anything right now, not since he had battled his way through his nightmares. At the headmasters next instructions William grinned brightly and turned, heading back for his common room and his swim trunks. Dashing back a few minutes later he grabbed onto the wall gasping for breath. him out of shape? Nuuuu. He was just excited! Where else could you swim in what used to be the first floor of your school but Hogwarts. "I'm ready!" He said happily as he edged along to the outskirts of the water. |
"Professor Lawson DID teach us to fight off Grindylow." Cela answered, fingering her wand thoughtfully. She took a step closer to Copernicus and shot him a questioning look. He'd say it was ill-advised, right? |
Clark wandered around the hallways...and saw the headmaster. Gulp. "I can explain sir, that tapestry was really loose, and it didn't have a permanent sticking charm on it, I didn't know..." Ooh, looky, swimmy! Good thing he had decided to go for a surfer-chic look today and wear his swimming trunks..."Erm...I wanna swim!" he blurted, his blue hair flying all over. Clark pulled his outer robes off and jumped into the murky water. Ah...he could picture being a merperson...this the life. "So..." he smile-strutted over to the headmaster. "I'm Clark, Clark Landers. And I'm a Ravenclaw. And I uhm...like books." |
Satine came running down the stairs full of excitement. She took her swimming dress wrap off from over her purple bathing suit and hung it and her towel on one of the banisters. She ran down to the group of students and told Cela, "Well, if it's anything like the water that flooded Bunburry's office when I was stuck in there, it just dirty but doesn't have any animals or creatures in it, so don't worry." she said with a smile trying to reassure her. "Headmaster, is it deep enough for a diving board...or could we put up a Volleyball net?" she asked with a smile...she was sure the headmaster had heard of the muggle sport water Volleyball before. |

She clapped her hands and bounced on her feet. This was exciting. And soon she was off back to the common room to change into her new bathing suit. It was a long run from the first floor all the way up to the Gryffindor tower for the common room. After a few minutes she was back changed into her new Dior bathing suit. With a fluffy towel thrown over her shoulder. "I'm ready." she smiled. |
Bathing suit? Bathing suit? Reese needed a bathing suit! She turned around to head back to the common room, but then Torin came back. "Um, I got to go to the common room. Hold that thought," she said. After she said that to him, she ran off to the moving staircases. She ran up the staircase all the way to the common room. Once she made it to the common room, she ran to her dorm. She dug through her trunk until she found her green bathing suit. Yay! She quickly put it on and after she grabbed her beach towel and also put on her bathing suit cover up (she didn't want to look weird running around the school in a bathing suit), she ran all the way back down to the first floor. "I'm back," she announced when she reached the group. She tied her hair up in a ponytail with the hairband she grabbed from her dorm as well. She looked at the Headmaster and waited for him to go into the water. She wasn't going in until he did. She wanted proof that it was safe to go in there. And, thinking about it, what if something was in there that could hurt them? She doubted there would be. The Headmaster wouldn't put them in a danger, would he? Still, there could ALWAYS be danger. She backed up slightly as she thought about Grindylows. Maybe, she would just watch. Yeah, she had her bathing suit on under her cover up, but...she could always just watch. |
Having just seen Cope and Cela head this way, Anna decided to follow along and see if she could catch up with the two. It'd been a while since they last chatted...well, a good three or four days, at least...and she thought it might be nice to see how things were going between the two. She finally caught up with them at the top of the stairs between floors one and two. Oddly enough, they weren't alone in such a strange place (after all, it was quite close to the flood). Quite the crowd had gathered, and Headmaster Bontecou was even present. Hmm...no doubt something of interest was going on here. Anna nudged a nearby student in the side and asked, "Hey, what's going on here?" She eyed the ever-rising waters as she spoke, recalling the many times she or one of her fellow schoolmates had gotten trapped in it. She shivered as she remembered how the grindylow had attached itself to her robes when she'd been trying to escape the Great Hall. There was no telling how many dangerous creatures lurked within the water she was staring into right at this very moment. Glancing around, she noticed that Paris was dressed in a bathing suit, which meant...gulp...were they going for a swim...in that? |
"I'm going to keep on worrying about it if its okay by you, Satine. Professor Kazimeriz always says that you have to be vigilant. Constantly and stuff." Cela peered at the water. Quote:
Scurred of Grindylow, but a very good swimmer. |

The headmaster conjured up a couple platforms with diving boards for the more advanced swimmers. And remember: constant vigilance. I've checked the water and don't see anything risky in there right now but one never knows..." |
