The school staff is seated on a dias high overlooking the Great Hall. You may approach them for conversation, but they probably deserve a peaceful meal as much as anyone else. |

" Do you see that table over there...with the lions and the gold and red?" He said, pointig with his wand in the direction of the Gryffindor table. " That is where you can sit with your fellow housemates. Also, Look for a girl by the name of Anna Greingoth. She'll be in special robes with a badge upon it. She is your prefect and she can help you become acquainted with your new school. Welcome to Hogwarts, young lad." Kapoor whispered in and gestured for the boy to quickly take a seat before anyone made any sort of announcement.

Kazimeriz said with a mutually respectful half-bow.
He addressed his colleagues first, keeping his voice low so as to keep the students from hearing. "The headmaster has been unavoidably detained. As those of you here in the hall moments ago may have seen, I received a message in the form of his golden retriever patronus. I have been asked to lead the school as deputy headmaster in his place until his return, and to help resolve the crisis and restore order. I will serve in this capacity until his return."
There. That being said, he turned to address the great hall at large, projecting like a seasoned Shakespearean actor with a huge, booming voice. "Attention, please! I am sure that most of you are aware of the flooding situation in the dungeons currently. All students have been safely evacuated from that level of the castle, thanks to the diligent efforts of professors, prefects and fellow students. We thank you all for remaining calm and orderly in this time of crisis and assure you that every measure is being taken to return the dungeon level to a habitable status. No student-- I repeat, no student is to attempt to enter the dungeon level for any reason until you have been instructed to do so by a professor." He looked around at the students sternly. By Merlin, they would have order.
He looked to the Slytherin table. "Slytherins, you will remain in the great hall pending further instructions from your Head of House or another authority as necessary. You may leave this hall to attend any classes that may be presented but you are not to attempt to go to the dungeon levels for any reason at this time, nor are you to attempt to summon your possessions from the common rooms for reasons of safety. I expect your full cooperation in this matter." "Your professors will be working to resolve the flooding situation and return the dungeons to normal. Until this time, I expect full cooperation and orderly conduct from every student within this school." Kazimeriz looked around the room. "As a final note: Headmaster Bontecou has been unavoidably called away at this time. Until his return I, as appointed deputy headmaster, will be serving in his place. I expect you all to behave in a calm and respectful, orderly manner while we address the issues at hand. Anyone doing otherwise will answer to the masters of this school, and to me." They best not dare to test him on this matter, for Kazimeriz was deadly serious-- there would be swift and severe penalties for troublemakers during this situation.
He looked to the professors, dropping his voice back to a low level so only those at the staff table could hear him. "We will need utilize the considerable talents of every professor available to address this flooding. I ask that two of you volunteer to stay with the nurse here in the hall, to help oversee the students' needs and address security. The rest shall come with me down to the dungeon level to attempt to eradicate the floodwaters. Those of you particularly strong in transfiguration or charms please be sure to come to the dungeon, for your skill may be of special use to us in removing the waters." He looked to the staff for their feedback and cooperation.

Well, or else he had just been sitting still for long enough that he would have caught his breath soon anyway. It was just the lingering aftertaste of the tea that put Lars off--it tasted like medicine or something. He definitely preferred gillywater. "It'll do," he agreed, setting the teacup on the table. "Thank you."
Now. Why exactly had he run all the way down here? There was no trouble that he could see being the not very observant man he was. "Do you know what the problem is?" Professor Svensson asked Bunbury and whoever that was on her other side. The redhead turned toward the transfiguration professor, a bit astounded at the man who gulped her tea because he was that thirsty??! Merlin, perhaps Mr. Lars should start an exercise regime like Mr. Masterson's. Not that Annie would ever admit to sitting in her office and watching the groundskeeper jogging around with his shirt off or doing Muggle push-ups and such.
Never.
"I haven't the foggiest," she admitted quietly to Lars. "But I think Kaz---" Quote:

So the dungeons were flooding, mhhmm. Obviously someone hadn't tried a strong enough charm yet or found the source of the leak. It probably wasn't even an issue; not like there were any precious plants in the dungeons that could suffer from root rot, honestly.
Anastasia Bunbury was confident she could fix it. "I'll go to the dungeons," she nodded respectfully toward the old man, for the moment having no qualms whatsover about him being deputy Headmaster. It made sense; he was what, four times the age of the Tarticus and a kajillion times as wise? Bontecou would show up sometime in the middle of the term, probably lost in a vanishing cabinet or something like that. Nothing major to worry about as far as Annie was concerned.

Eh...this should be easy! Really how hard would it be to get rid of some water that had leaked into the dungeons? Marcus stood up and walked over to the old man, he glanced at Annie quickly and almost rolled his eyes. Whyyyyyyy couldn't she stay behind? "I'll go down to the dungeons as well." Yep this should be a cinch they would be back up here before dinner was finished!

"Dungeons." Ethan agreed, standing up and watching Kazimeriz, "Or I can stay here and help Cari..."
Truebridge would probably be more helpful in the dungeons, than helping with any healing. He could stay and keep order, and keep Cari company and that would mean he wouldn't have to put up with Kazimeriz.
Depended on what the old man said, really.

"I can stay with Nurse ..." Uh-oh. "Avalon." Ahhh, saved. Hehehehe...bouncer for a day. "Thank you, Professor Kapoor. A man of your stature would be most helpful maintaining order in the hall." Kazimeriz wasn't too familiar with the divinations professor, but at least he looked solid and seemed well liked and competent with the students as a whole, if not a little addle-minded. Kazimeriz still suspected that age line was to blame, but the man didn't seem exceptionally immature overall. Not unless Ashby was around at least. Quote:

Depended on what the old man said, really. "You will return to the dungeons. " He said quickly -- and perhaps a bit sharply? Nah. "Your skills will be more useful there." he amended. "Nurse Avalon, you will please instruct the prefects to assist you in gathering any students suffering health issues as a result of the flooding or its after effects. Take those students to the hospital wing. We will send any further students up to the hospital wing as well so you may assist them in an environment better suited to triage and treatment. Thank you." Kazimeriz gave her a respectful nod, his expression far more composed than during their previous conversation. After all, if he knew nothing else about Caroline, he did know that she was an extremely competent healer... no matter how much he liked to pretend otherwise in order to upset her. It was just their way, and had been for years.

Alessia nodded. "Professor Kazimeriz," she said trying to be professional. The students didn't need to know he was her godfather. "Professor Morgan and I will be happy join you in the dungeons..." she said volunteering her best friend... She knew Iliana well enough she'd want to be in the heart of the action.

Professor Morgan was just a little shocked to hear the news. Being located out on the grounds, she was used to being out of the loop. But Aww, the poor Slytherins.
Iliana eagerly nodded her head, first at Less and then at Kazimeriz. "Professor, sir I'd love to help." Surely the students would be fine here in Caroline's capable hands.

Madame Kohan glanced over towards Professor Kapoor as he leaned closer to her in an attempt to glean further information on the subject. Before she could say a word, however, Professor Kazimeriz addressed them all, letting them know of the Headmaster's apparent continued absence. Why whatever was the matter? Of course, Kazimeriz would make an excellent substitute, but she couldn't help but wonder where Pepe had disappeared to.
She mused over the possibilities for a few moments, keeping an ear out for the rest of the announcement.
"I'll stay here with Caroline." She volunteered. There would be enough professors in the dungeon so it seemed. No need to add further to the confusion.

She was exhausted and her nerves were worn to a frazzle, and to be quite honest, she was nothing short of grateful to be sent back upstairs to her hospital wing where it was MUCH easier to maintain order and triage patients in a manner that made sense.
And she certainly had no designs on going back into the dungeons while it was full of water.
Professor Kapoor and Madam Kohan were staying behind, that would be helpful certainly. But the rest of them would need each a dose of Pepperup Potion once they returned. Her stock of that was getting lower than she liked.
"Is there anything else I need to know before I move this" she waved her hand at her makeshift hospital, "back upstairs?"

He felt a surge of pride toward his former student. "Excellent. Professor, it is obvious to us that it is an intrusion of lake water, but we do not know the intrusion point or even if the water is continuing to rise as we speak, though I surmise it is. I will definitely want you at our side in the dungeons, and in fact I ask I have a special request of you. Presuming the waters are still at waist level and navigable, there is a small store of gillyweed in the storage cabinet in my office that I wish for you to retrieve in case we need it." As much as he hated to admit it to himself, the young, agile quidditch professor was in far better shape than he was and would be able to accomplish this task with the efficiency that was needed. "The password to my office door is currently--" he blushed slightly-- "Helena. The charm for the cabinet is a simple alohamora charm with the password 'Penelope'. Please take a partner with you for safety and meet us at the main dungeon staircase. And... good luck." He gave Vindictus a nod of respect, feeling the familiar twist of concern in his gut that always accompanied sending another man in to do a difficult and possibly dangerous task. "Professor Bunbury, if you have more gillyweed in your greenhouses, I ask that you retrieve it at once, as much as you have, so that we might have it readily accessible should it be required." The effects of gillyweed didn't last forever, after all. "Bring it back to this hall and give it to Professor Kapoor for safety, then meet us in the dungeons, if you please." Quote:

"Professor Forrester, can you think of anything else that I may be forgetting that needs to be addressed for the safety and well being of the students of your house?" Kazimeriz asked. "Temporary housing in the observatory should fit Slytherin's needs. I can quickly put the telescopes away and lay out cots, preferably, if we have them, otherwise something for them to sleep on would be most welcome. My Prefect suggested sleeping bags, a muggle thing usually used for sleeping outdoors. Would the house elves be able to retrieve their personal belongings? The books might still be of use, and I'm sure the clothes just need a good airing out. I would, however, like to request the nurse stop by once they are settled in. I am certain the water itself was okay, but the dungeons carry both the common room and the potions classroom, I do not know how many potions came loose and mixed, or if the water would have diluted it enough. Just as a precaution, if she could, it would be welcome to insure the safety of the students."
Was he repeating himself? Probably, but there was so much, and this was completely unexpected. There was probably a leak in the blasted roof of the common room that no one noticed. No help for it now, but to clean up and fix it when they could.

Madame Kohan nodded once in reception of the thank you. Professor Kapoor would be helping as well? Excellent. Returning the smile, she spoke. "Understood." Anna and Clifford would be of great help as well, especially in gathering the younger students that needed help. Quote:

Then, please coordinate a rush order to be owled to the shopkeepers at Madame Malkin's, Borgin and Burkes, and the bookstores and robes stores in Hogsmeade. Request whatever supplies the students are in need of for the next few days. Assure them that the invoices for these supplies should be sent to the office of the headmaster at Hogwarts." Kazimeriz spoke definitively, trying to think what else might need to be handled. "Professor Forrester, can you think of anything else that I may be forgetting that needs to be addressed for the safety and well being of the students of your house?" Kazimeriz asked. That very thought had just crossed her mind. The students would no doubt be in need of supplies. Who could have imagined that something like this would happen? There was no way to prepare.
As she was addressed again, Angela nodded slowly, filing away the needed information. It wouldn't be difficult to arrange such kits from the shops. They would, she hoped, be willing to help in such a time of need. Emergency supplies, rush order, and invoices to Headmaster. The students would need parchment, quills, new robes, potion supplies, amongst many other objects. A list would have to be made.
"We'll do that at once."

"Thank you so much, Madame Kohan." He glared at Wright. "Miss Wright, go sit down. Now is not the time for your shenanigans." Kazimeriz hissed at her.
Kazimeriz listened to Forrester. Yes, the observatory was a good and logical choice- large, and close to their Head of House. Perfect. But--
Oh. Merlin.
The potions classroom.
He closed his eyes, his mind racing as he considered: The ratios and dilution and the rate of magical decay and temperature conditions with contamination factors and calculating for Golpalott's second AND third law--
His eyes still closed, his face pale and tense, he spoke again to Forrester. "The observatory makes excellent sense; they will be close to their Head of House. We have bedrolls that can be provided to the students, but my request for emergency supply kits still remains. The house elves will not be called upon to enter those waters for the sake of their health and safety; further, I do not at this time wish for any items to be retrieved from the floodwaters for the students' use and agree that every student who was in contact with flood water must receive a full healer's evaulation."
Professor Kazimeriz pointed his wand at his throat, cast sonorous, and addressed the hall at large again. "I ask that any student who was affected by flooding to remove shoes, socks and outerwear -- outer robes only-- that were affected by the flooding, even if a drying charm was applied. A professor will come by to collect these items from you."
He turned once more the Bunbury, Avalon and Vindictus, speaking quickly and in a low voice meant only for the professors at the dias. "I presume you still have work robes stored in your greenhouse and shed? We need as many of those as possible to be sent to the observatory as temporary replacement clothing for the students. All students need to be thoroughly examined, then showered and decontaminated as soon as possible. Miss Avalon, I will need a private word with you before you do so, to discuss what symptoms you are to be looking for. "
He looked to all the professors at the table, his face extremely somber. "No professor should take the task of going into that water lightly; in fact, Maximus, perhaps you could provide brooms so that we can fly in low over the waters and avoid contact with that water as much as possible while we attempt to contain it?"

"Bring it back to this hall and give it to Professor Kapoor for safety, then meet us in the dungeons, if you please." Anastasia was just sitting there and scowling at the fact that both Marcus AND Alessia wanted to come to the dungeons too --- spoilsports --- when Kazimeriz caught her attention.
"Gillyweed?" she repeated slowly, wondering how on earth the man knew she had been tinkering around with that very substance earlier today. "Alright....I can do that, although it's perfectly safe in the greenhouses as it is..."
She frowned but stood up to go retrieve the plant anyway when Kazimeriz started barking out orders once again. Quote:

"I do have work robes, that won't be a problem," Annie spoke up quickly. "I'll get those as well, then." And perhaps she would just bring back a bit of gillyweed; after all, she was working to discover the secret recipe for gillywater still! Couldn't have all her ingredients taken over by the old man.
She hadn't even considered the possibility of potions escaping from the storeroom and mixing with flood waters....dun dun dunnnn. That certainly added a measure of urgency to the situation.
Bunbunz picked up her teapot and just one of the pink glasses, intending to drop them off in her office before picking out the oldest, filthiest work robes from the shed....perhaps those two Slytherins had had a point when they'd offered to rearrange the tools for her...no matter, she was off to the greenhouses now.

As soon as Forrester mentioned the Potions Classroom Caroline's eyes bugged out of her head.
Okay, no time for your chicken little impression, you can do that later.
But she dearly wanted to do it now. She'd had a long day so far and she was TIRED of keeping it together and she wanted to have a little cry now, okay?
No not okay. She knew it was not okay. And she had known, taking this job, that a normal day is a day when the school HASN'T caught on fire, or been partially destroyed, almost been usurped by the ministry or anything of the like. It was just a little water. And... et cetera. No mater that she was pretty much terrified of it.
She took a deep breath, steadied herself. Fighting with Kazimeriz ceased to be important. "Yes Professor Kazimeriz," she acquiesced. "Also, while it seems like the least of our problems, as long as there are no interaction considerations, every Professor who has been in the water needs to take Pepperup Potion. I cannot stress that enough. We have troubles enough without one of you catching cold too."
It wasn't a slight. And while none of the children were having adverse reactions, the window was essentially closed on an interaction complication, but she wanted to know exactly what Professor Kazimeriz had to say before she did anything else.

"Thank you, Professor." Kazimeriz said. It took a strong, competent man to manage Slytherin House, and little Eddie Forrester had apparently grown up into such a man. It appeared he inspired a balance of respect and confidence from his house, and Kazimeriz found himself pleased by this, especially in such a time of crisis. Perhaps he had really taught him something.
He turned to Caroline. "If I may have that word with you, privately...?" He stepped away from the dias, shuffle-thumping with the grace of a newborn giraffe over to a quiet corner so he could speak to her alone.

Did she want to talk to him alone? Are you new? Of course not. But under the circumstances she had to didn't she? If he went nuts on her one of the staff would probably notice. Ethan and Marcus both had good reflexes, and Vindictus played Quidditch for a living once...
Cari stood up from her seat and followed Professor Kazimeriz into the corner. Maybe the only quiet corner in the Great Hall at the moment.
"Alright, Professor, would you care to elaborate for my benefit please?" she asked stiffly, her nerves jangling.
