Constantine couldn't help but to stare straight up as there was a fountain of water raining down on him and the students. Blinking and returning his gaze to the water, he smiled and sung praises in his head at the sight of the giant squid.

"You know how to make quite the entrance, Mr. Henry," Neo called down before adding, "You look well!" That was when he looked around at all the other kiddos there, throwing them a look that told them to start complimenting if they had one.

Eyes with wide surprise, Anna remained completely still, save for the fact that she was tapping Lyra on her arm with the back of her hand. "Lyra, look. There he is," Anna half-whispered. Sure, she was now drenched in water, and she was pretty sure her jaw had dropped to the floor, but she was in awe, so could you really blame her. Six and a half years at this school, and she'd never even set eyes on this squid. It was sort of like a "moment-in-time" deal for her.

Oh, wait. They were supposed to be complimenting the squid, yes? "Oh, Mr. Henry! How lovely to see you! Mr. Masterson is correct when he says you look well. No, you look better than just 'well'. You look...outstanding," she said, sort of, kind of, maybe feeling ridiculous. If this squid knew how to save the flooding school, though, then Anna would compliment him as long as he wanted her to.

Will frowned as the squid vanished under water, moving closer to the edge to see if she could get another glimpse of him.

But then suddenly.. oh my god! ..she was covered head to toe in freezing cold water! She did squeal this time ...and not out of excitement. “Ack!” she cried, wrapping her little arms around herself in an attempt to keep warm. But she wasn't going to be defeated by a little cold water though.. oh no - the opportunity to see the squid was not to be missed. She stared at him in amazement - gosh! he was enourmous!

After a moment of just staring, she scrambled over to her bag which had escaped getting wet and grabbed her muggle polaroid camera to take a photograph for her dad. She looked back over at the groundskeeper to see why he loured Mr Henry to the shores.

Giant Squid 06-22-2009 10:13 PM

He flushed with pleasure at the compliments and if squids can smile, he was. Well, except at that one student who was giving him funny looks...

LadyNerd 06-22-2009 10:22 PM

Lyra's eyes widened as she squid appeared...

And got them WETTTTTTTTT! GAH!

The smile on her face disappeared along with the beautiful hairstyle she had. NO NO NO! NOT THE CURLS! And then came the kinky, curly hair. She stared with a blank expression on her face as she now looked like a drowning rat, or to her she did! Everything was sooooo DRAMATIC with Lyra! owner rolls eyes

Her green eyes then peeked at Mr. Groundskeeper. Oh yes! Compliment! What was she supposed to say/do? Thank you for getting me all wet as I already don't have a lot of clothing thanks to that nasty flooding going on?

"Hi, Mr. Squiddy Squid!" Lyra grinned a fake grin as she had to compliment the fish. "You look...very sleek and stylish today." Was that good complimenting? He was sleek, he was stylish!

noodles 06-22-2009 10:29 PM

Willow smiled, looking from Mr Squid over to the older girls and the groundskeeper, all of them as wet as her and all of them complimenting the squid. She bit her bottom lip – was that some sort of custom? Willow was a shy girl anyway but the cat had really caught her tongue right now. What do you say to a giant squid?

“Um.. Hi..um Mr Henry, sir.” She said quietly, nervously. “It's wonderful to see you. N-nice..erm tentacles you got there.” That was the best she could come up with?! Merlin's pants! She took another photo. Was he going to talk back? Her dad wouldn't believe this when she told him about it!

There really was a giant squid in the lake!!!

Paris almost fainted she had heard stories but she didn't believe any of them, but there he was. She raced across the grounds toward the lake. She skidded to a stop beside her sister. "Its him," she pointed with a stupid smile on her face.

Willow was staring at the squid completely mesmerised and didn't hear Paris approaching. She jumped when she heard a voice next to her and placed her hand to her heart. “Gosh, you scared me.” She breathed. She grinned when she saw the silly look on her sister's face. “I think we're s'pposed to compliment him.” She whispered to her sister. Well.. that's what everyone else had done...

She didn't look at her sister as she looked at the squid, her dad would have a crup if he saw this. He loved magical creatures, and this squid was beautiful. Well at least Paris thought so. She heard what her sister said to her.

She nodded. "Oh um Mr. Henry you look very lovely today. The best looking squid around in fact." She winked at him as she reached out a hand to touch him.

noodles 06-22-2009 11:20 PM

Willow chuckled at her sister's compliment.. it was a lot better than hers. She took another snap, reaching out to take the picture as it came out the bottom the camera and shook it until it appeared from the mist. She admired it for a few moments but kinda wished she had a wizard camera so the picture would move... still, there was something kinda cool about a polaroid camera... least she thought so.

She turned to Paris and took her picture as she looked at the squid with a gormless look on her face. That was going to be a good picture.

Giant Squid 06-23-2009 01:07 AM

He lifted one of his tentacles into the air when one of the children reached out to him. He couldn't exactly give a handshake, but he did give a wicked high "five". Once that was done, he looked expectantly at the professor. Or at least he thought it was a professor. He missed the Lainey lady.

Golden Monkey 06-23-2009 01:15 AM

William was completely mesmerized by the giant Squid. Last time he had seen it it had tried to grab him on his broom but up close he actually looked pretty cool. Blue eyes lit up as he gazed at him before remembering to compliment him. Clearing his throat he bowed slightly and said, "Why Mr. Henry your tentacles are looking lovely today. Have you done something new?" He smiled, his hands behind his back as he looked at Lyra, standing close to her.

Squids were cool after all.

Keeping his distance he waited for any sign that he had accidentally angered him. That would not be cool and would totally hurt his self-esteem.

She blinked as a camera flashed in her face, she looked over at her sister as he held a muggle polaroid camera in her hands. "That wasn't a good picture. Its not my best side," she told her. She had a suspicion that Willow's picture would end up in her sister's scrap book.

She giggled when the Giant Squid high fived her. She touched the the Giant Squid!! This was the coolest day ever. Well not cooler than the Chanel Fall Sale, but it ranked pretty high. "Thanks Mr. Henry," she nodded to him. "What do you like to eat?" she asked him. She would like to visit him sometimes and bring him something to eat.

Constantine smiled as the Squid gave one of the kids a high five. He was such a nice squid, which was slightly odd. "I need a favour, Mr. Henry," he started when the squid looked back at him.

LadyNerd 06-23-2009 02:55 AM

Lyra looked at William and smiled. He was so thoughtful, better than what she was at the moment besides being wet. But she had to keep her cool, even though her hair was starting to curl beyond her control. Hair! Hair! HAIR!

Her head then snapped in the direction of Mr. Groundskeeper Man as he began to ask the squid a favor. And the fish gave him a high five too! That was cool...and weird!

Giant Squid 06-23-2009 12:01 PM

"Fisssshhh," the squid answered the girl, drawing out the sh. He blinked at the professor. "I am listening." Now what did they want?

momentai 06-23-2009 06:38 PM

"My name is Constantine Masterson," he started, folding his hands together in his lap. "I'm the groundskeeper here. The headmaster asked me to speak to you and ask if you wouldn't mind checking the outside of the dungeons, underwater. Our kitchen and dungeon level have some how managed to flood, but we can't figure out a reason why. We were wondering if maybe you could check for cracks or fissures in the foundation." He reached into the bucket and pulled out another fish, dropping it down into the water for Mr. Henry.

Ohhh, well now wasn't that just made of awesome. The squid gave high-fives! Anna beamed at it, thinking maybe before it left, she'd see if it would give her a high-five, too. "We have a few more fish over here if you'd to have them before you leave again. I'm Anna, by the way," she said. How cool was this...she was talking the Giant Squid, of all things! Anna clamped her mouth shut when the groundskeeper starting talking, though. Students weren't meant to interrupts adults...or squids discussing important matters.

The groundskeeper and the squid didn't know of one another? For some reason, Anna thought they'd be the best of buds. What with Mr. Masteron being the groundskeeper and all. Could it be possible for a crack in the foundation to be causing the flooding? What about that magical water inside Mr. Masterson's hut, though? It was standing up all on it's own with no boundary to support it! That wasn't just typical water...that was magical water.

She wanted to faint. Henry had just spoken to her!!

Ok, she had to admit, this was better than the fall sale at the Chanel store, that happened every year. The Giant Squid talking to her was a once in a lifetime experience. "Can I bring you some sometimes?" she asked him hoping she could hang out with him sometimes.

She grew quiet with Mr. Masterson started talking to Henry, a crack in the foundation? That was serious. Could that be causing the flooding?

ZDARDSKY 06-23-2009 08:21 PM

Ok, so Cy was seeing something crazy in the distance. A huddle of students (one being the Head Girl… EWWW!) and then that one guy that was always walking around the grounds.

Time to investigate… obviously.

Stepping onto the platform-like cliff, he jogged by Anna giving her a beat on the shoulder. “Ello.” He said simply with a mischievous wink. He then turned to the Groundskeeper, in order to figure out what that was.

His voice come out loud, and very curious. “What IS thah’ mate,” his eyes looked up to the Professor guiltily as he remember who he was talking to, “errrr, Sir. THAT, is probably the coolest thing I’ve evah’ seen.”

He wanted to touch it then ride it around the lake. Yes.

Gah! It spoke! IIIIIT SPoooOKE!!

Willow had to try very hard not to squeal in a very girlish fashion when she heard Mr Henry's dulcet tones. This was just too much excitement. “He spoke, Paris.” She told her sister in case she missed that. “I thought it was just a myth.. but he can actually talk!”

The squid waved a tentacle in the direction of the student who spoke. It would be rude not to acknowledge her, even if he was already engaged in conversation at present.

It is good to meet you, Mr. Masterson. I am Bartholomew Henry," he introduced himself and held out yet another tentacle to the groundskeeper. "I would be happy to inspect the castle where it comes in contact with my home. How shall I contact you when my inspection is completed?"

Constantine reached a hand out to meet that of Bartholomew's, giving it a little shake. "I'm glad of your decision. As for when you're done, I'm sure that some students will be here to view the magnificence that is you," he smiled. "You can send one of the students to me and I will come back here. If there's no one here, then try the Lake, better chance of getting a students attention. Does that sound good?"

"You just taking my picture when I look goofy or something." She could imagine what Willow's scrap book looked like. But in actuality she didn't mind it at all. They were a laid back family and some of her fondest memories were of the family being totally goody and off the wall.

She nodded at her sister who seemed to be as excited as she was about the fact that a Giant Squid was indeed talking to them, as if it were the most normal thing in the world to be doing. "Well stranger things have happened," she informed her little sister.
