There's a large grassy area outside of the Quidditch Stadium that's void of any obstacles whatsoever. At the center of the vast expanse of grass are two rows of school brooms lined up neatly. But standing guard over the brooms is Professor Vindictus who has positioned himself so that no one can even get near or touch a broom without his permission.
If you're here for your first-ever flying lesson or are a non-Quidditch player who never mastered flying for whatever reason and feel the need for a refresher basic course, then have a seat on the grass in front of the professor. |

This should be fun, yup, yup. Pretty much instantaneously, Fyo picked up a tennis ball and, once sure that the tip of his bat was even with the centre target, swung it with a one-armed movement that contained plentyaa might. The ball whizzed passed him, and - THWACK.
Aww, he had missed the yellow target. But the tennis ball had still hit the blue portion and, since he felt that that was pretty good for him, too, Fyo was not put out. This was almost like darts!
YAY, flying lesson! |

Dani threw a tennis ball up but then lost control of her bat as she swung it and the ball made a bee-line for Plymouth Morgans head. "Hey watch ou-" Too late. Oops. She looked at the ground. She was not good at this bat thing. She could barely lift it and then when she had managed to she had hit Plymouth with a tennis ball. Geez. She set her bat on the ground and stared at the boy.

Cam clapped his hands at Fyo too and then payed his attention back at Vindictus. Ooooh they were gonna play tennis? WITH BATS?! AWESOMEEE. It was some sort of a tennis-baseball Beater game they were going to doo! He was excited. He eyed the professor and was just starstruck when he hit the tennis ball... STRAIGHT AT THE TARGET. Epic win dood, epic win. "WOOOO!" He clapped his hands at Vindictus, impressed actually. Cam got his bat and walked up to get a tennis ball, quite a bit relieved they were going to hit tennis balls instead of bludgers. Ooooh they hurt. Tennis balls were small though and hitting center would have been HARDDDD and even HARDER 'cause he never even played Beater before! "Uhhhhh..." he muttered some words to himself, and then threw the tennis ball into the air and hit it with his bat.
GUHH, NOT EVEN CLOSE. It didn't even hit the target... at all--merely flew over it.

| This shouldn't be that hard.
Aaron walked up to a bucket of tennis balls and took one. He then raised his bat and realised it was heavier than he thought. He then tossed the ball up and swung the bat. POP
The next thing you know the tennis ball was zooming towards the target and hit it right int he center.
"Bulls-eye!!!" he said to whoever was listening. He then picked up another one and did it again... And again... And again. Boy, this is easy. Perhaps I should be a beater, not a Chaser. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Rickey Hampton Fifth Year | The rather, tiny, eleven year old wasn’t built to be a beater. He was short, skinner, and even though he had a lot of firepower, he simply was not built to be a beater. Cy grinned a sideways grin at Vindictus and grabbed a bat. “So just grab that bat, throw the ball, swing it, and bobs yah’ uncle eh?” The Aussie walked up to the line.
He had about three tennis balls in his pocket so if his first one wasn’t great, he’d have more. Up the first ball went and,
THWACK.
The ball, even to Cy’s surprise, went soaring WAY over the target. “Too strong.” He said smirking. He grabbed the next ball, threw it up.. THWACK. It shot off the bat and hit the black outer ring of the target. Cy gave a fist pump and looked behind himself to see if anyone was watching. “That was awesome.” He stated, quite simply.

When Plym poked her in the ribs with his beater's bat, Anna winced and jumped sideways a bit, but otherwise she just softly laughed it off. She focused her attention on Professor Vindictus then, watching as he hit a tennis ball towards the target, getting a perfect bullseye, of course. It was soon time for them to hop up and try it for themselves, and even though that didn't mean they'd get to fly to the skies for a fierce Quidditch match, it was at least a little something dealing with Anna's favorite game.
"Come on, Plymmers. Let's go hit some tennis balls," she said, dashing up off the bench she'd been sitting on and heading over to retrieve a tennis ball. Once she had it, she adjusted her bat to where the tip of it was even with the yellow circle on the target. She tossed the ball into the air, then swung....THWACK! The ball flew through the air, and Anna watched it carefully as it headed straight for the target.
...SMACK! The tennis ball hit the yellow circle, then bounced off and rolled away. Ermm....whoa. That had one hundred percent been the result of a whole lot of luck. It was a fluke. There was no way she'd be able to do that twice.

Lucy stood up and made her way over to an empty target. This wouldn't be so hard would it? She thought staring at the target. She looked down at the bat still in her hand and lifted. Deciding to do some fake bats before she did a real one. Doing as Vindictus said, she positioned the bat so the tip was aligned with the yellow part of the target.
Then after swinging a few times, Lucy bent down and picked up a tennis ball. Muggles and there strange balls. She thought looking at the green, fuzzy thing. She tossed the ball and got ready to swing the bat.
SMACK!
The bat collided with the tennis ball and sent it zooming towards the target, hitting the purple section of the target. Lucy smiled and picked up another tennis ball, repeating her routine. Purple again. Purple, black, white, red, purple, then finally yellow! Finally she had hit the center.

Okay Herminny thought as she got up and headed toward one of the targets. She grabbed a tennis ball, threw it in the air and took a one handed wack at it and saw the ball soar right past the target, great. She threw another tennis ball in the air and took a better aimed whack at it and hit the end of the target, she smiled thinking atleast I'm getting better. She went for a third throwing the tennis ball in the air and aimed the bat carefully and took a one handed whack at it for the third time and this time she hit it right on the money, third time was truly the charm.

| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Jack stared down at the bat in his hands and sighed. This was bound to be humiliating, he was certain, since his aim was absolutely horrible. Hence the reason he was NOT a chaser. Grabbing a tennis ball, he studied the target for a few moments before finally lining up the tip of his bat with the target.
He tossed up the ball and swung, taking a small amount of satisfaction in the fact that he had at least made contact. How embarrassing would it be if he totally just DROPPED the ball right there in the middle of the pitch, with everyone watching? AHHH! It was too embarrassing to think about.
He looked up and felt himself frown as the tennis ball bounced off the side of the target, hitting the blue part, but just barely. If that had been an opponent, he'd have hit their shoulder. Or maybe it was their elbow? His hit had been WAY left of the target...yup, probably their elbow.
Although, was that such a bad thing? Maybe he'd have hit his opponent's funny bone, causing them to drop the Quaffle. That wouldn't be SO horrible.
He glanced over at Anna and blinked in amazement. "How did you do that?" he asked. Was Anna just amazing at EVERYTHING these days? It wouldn't surprise him.

Having tossed a tennis ball into the air, Fyo swung his bat, hard, watching the thing - the ball, not the bat - whiz past him. WHOA! That had been one, good shot! For a moment, though, he thought he might have put in too much fire, and the ball would just pass over the target, and thwack to the ground.
Stroke of luck: The tennis ball thwacked to the ground, yes, but only after it had hit the target, right in its pretty, yellow centre. YAY! Quote:

Lucy looked at her target as it began to move. This was not going to easy like last time, she thought. The target was moving up and down. Lucy picked up a tennis ball and waited for the right moment to hit. As the target began to come back down, Lucy threw the tennis ball up into the air and swung her bat.
SMACK!
The tennis ball flew towards the target but she had hit to early, the target was still a good few feet above the tennis ball. Sighing, Lucy picked up another tennis ball waiting. Now that target was rising. Working quickly Lucy tossed the ball and swung, hitting the black part of the target. "YES!" She yelled, but quickly covering her mouth. "Sorry." She mumbled, blushing.

Fyo didn't want to hurt the little things, you know, but he guessed it was a risk he would have to take it. He watched Professor Vindictus pull out his wand, his eyes widening slightly as the targets began to move.
Oooh. This was going to be a LOT harder than before, you know. Well, he wouldn't find out for certain until he tried, would he? Eyes sparkling with enthusiasm, the third year grabbed another tennis ball and, tossing it into the air, swung his bat with all his might. Thuucckkkk.
The bat and ball made a noise of sorts as they came into contact, and then the ball was going, up, up, and away. Fyo waited, watching and trying not to bounce on the soles of his feet. A second later, the ball had found a mark - the white target. Not that bad because, what with the targets continuing to move and all, he could have done a lot worse. |

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Walking up to the line he picked up a ball frowning at it before tossing it into the air. Holding his bat he swung when it came near it and watched as it soared towards the bulls-eye hitting the blue part. "Not too bad." He muttered, turning to look at Vindi with a grin, "You bet!" he exclaimed.
Just then the targets began moving. "Oh no." he groaned as he picked up another ball frowning as he watched the targets move. It was all about timing he knew, having watched a few games and knowing what the Beaters did. Eying the ball then the target he tossed it into the air high above his head and swung. It soared past the target bouncing on the ground. "Meh." He said shrugging. He wasn't a Quidditch type person.

| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Moving?!? Oh NOES! He could hardly hit the stationary target, and now he had to hit one that was flying around? He blinked in shock once again before looking down at his bat and the tennis ball that lay abandoned at his feet.
No, he COULD do this. He needed to have some confidence in himself, gosh darnit! He just needed to focus on the positives. He had hit the blue part on the other target, which was something. All he needed to do was pick the right moment and do the same thing.
He picked up the tennis ball and lined up his bat. Rather than try and follow the target around, which he knew would get him no where, he waited until the target moved just near the tip of his bat. Hopefully, within that split second it would take him to throw the tennis ball in the air and then hit the ball towards the target, it would move into position and he'd at least make contact.
He waited, standing there for almost a whole minute in position before the target finally moved to a good spot. He tossed up the ball as quickly as he could, hitting it a split second later and practically holding his breath as he watched the ball sail through the air.
YES! It had connected! The ball hit the blue part this time and even got a bit of the yellow center as well. That was even better than he had gotten before! Hardly able to contain his excitement, he jumped in the air and threw his arms to the sky, still holding his bat. "I did it!" he exclaimed.
See. Just put your mind to it and you can do anything!

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Dominic had never played beater before, so he was kind of psyched that he would be getting some experience in that position. Particularly since he doubted Rapunzel or Kaika would have approved since they probably wanted to keep him far from the bats as possible. Not like he needed a bat or bludger to injure them though . . .
As distracted as the sixth year had been though during the questions, he was more distracted when another certain sixth year had the nerve to flip her hair not far from him when she went to demonstrate the proper swing techniques. UGH! Did she have to do THAT so close to him? Hardly fair. Taking some deep breaths though, he was finally able to control himself enough to hold the bat steady.
Just toss the ball and hit it. For Merlin's sake, this should be easy - he could STOP quaffles from entering the hoops. He could SHOOT quaffles into the hoops. So getting a bulls eye shouldn't be too hard, right?
Except that the moment he had the yellow target fixated in his mind, tossed the ball upwards and then swung his bat . . . the yellow target moved!! "What in Merlin's Canaries?!"
Uh oh . . . And the tennis ball was soaring through the sky and in the direction of a certain Ravenclaw captain . . . Whoops!

Fyo's momentarily wandering gaze caught the rather mortified look on Jack's face [why was it that, every time he saw Jack, the guy seemed.. mildly - or exceptionally, one of the two - mortified?] and he gave Jack an assuring sorta nod, hoping that made him feel better.
And then Jack had HIT part of the target.
Waiit, not Jack. His tennis ball.
Welll.. AWESOME! Fyo beamed at him, before returning his attention towards his own bat. He needed to hit that yellow target, dude! Ball in the air. Bat swung. Andd - aww, white part of the target for him, once more.
Guess he'd just have to try again. |

Moving targets? Reese took in a deep breath and looked down at her bat. She could do this! She picked up a tennis ball from the bucket and stared at it for a few moments before heading up to the red line. She waited for one of the targets to get in a good position, so she had a chance of at least hitting it. When the target was in a good range, she threw the tennis ball up in the air and...
SMACK!
The tennis ball went soaring into the sky, after she hit it with the bat, and it was heading towards to target. Oh, come on! SHe stood there and when the ball hit the target, her jaw dropped opened. "I...did...it," she said. Yes, she was very excited now.

- Too bad he still sucked at seeking.
Oh well, that was definitely something he would have to come to terms with, at the moment, if he wanted to continue hitting some nice, ole targets, here. The ball he had just hit was now soaring through the air, and Fyo wondered which part of the target it would hit. Which turned out to be -

So much for playing Quidditch. She started to cry, sobbing quietly. "Ohh almost, kiddo! The moving makes it a little harder because you have to ANTICIPATE ..." But it didn't really matter because the kid started CRYING. Plymouth was HORRIFIED, to say the least. He was torn between running away, crying himself, or wildly waving for some Professor V assistance.
He chose the latter. "Professor V? She's leaking! I didn't mean to do it! I was only trying to help!" Plymouth patted little Dani on the head and tried to entertain her by purposefully missing his targets. "See?? Hehe...? It's okay... I'm a failure TOO. We're Ravenclaws.. we.. like books... not balls.. Hehe..."
Panic. Girls crying was panic inducing. |
