"that is one fatty owl. It loves its treats." joked Jules

She laughs at Jules's joke and says "Ya, I should put her on a diet really".

Laura laughed as Vickys owl Merlin flew onto her other shoulder. It had to be said, it was uncomfortable with an owl on each shoulder, but funny all the same. The owls seemed to be hitting each other over her head, and there claws got tangled in her hair. Digging out a spellbook from her bag, she muttered a spell that untangled the owls, and they flew up to the luggage rack.

Still laughing, Laura turned back to Jule and Vicky. "So, how long do you reckon it'll be untill we get there?" she asked.

Naomi wanders through the train looking for someone to talk to. She sees a group of firsts talking. "Hey are you all first years?" She asked politely. "Do you mind if I join you?"

She turns round to the door "Yes I think we are all first years, sure you can join us". She then turns to Laura "I don't think it should be very long".

Laura smiled up at the girl who asked to join them. "'Course you can join us," she said. "I'm Laura."

"No probably not." Naomi said. "By the way, my name is Naomi Cambridge I am a second year in Gryffindor. What are your names?"

Hi Naomi, I'm Laura and this is Jule and Victoria. He," she said pointing to the sleeping form, "is Thomas. We're all in Ravenclaw."

"hey there." said Jules

"Wow you must all be smart." Naomi said with a smile. "Are you excited?"

Sarah walked down and smiled and sat down in and empty department and started to read a book. She hoped that someone would come and talk to her soon.

Jule let the others talk and went back to sleep.

Kel sighed and leaned back against the seat. He didn't know where Hogwarts was, exactly, but he wished they'd get there soon. It was kind of...awkward, sitting in a compartment with a bunch of people you didn't know. Hopefully they were almost there...but maybe not. Ugh, where was Hogwarts, anyway?!

He looked around - everyone seemed to be in their own conversation. Feeling extremely rude, he got up, and grabbed his trunk with one hand, his owl cage with the other, and was still trying to balance so that Jasmine didn't fall off his shoulder. Without looking at the others in the compartment, he walked out. This was a big step for him, because he had never ever ever walked out on anyone he had had a conversation with. But...oh well.

He walked down a few doors, peeking into the other compartments. Finding one which he was sure only had one person in it, he knocked on the door and went in. And...of course, the person was a girl. Just his luck.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" he asked the girl, feeling stupid.

"Yes, I can't wait! How long have you been going there? What's it like?" Laura couldn't contain how excited she was now that they were so close! She was practically jumping up and down.

"I am excited and nervous!" Merlin returned to her shoulder and Victoria started to stroke her.

"I know!" Laura said to Vicky and Naomi. "Me to. I'm so excited, and yet I can't help but be worried to. What if I do something wrong, or it turns out that I'm not magical at all?!"

"Me too, what about if they send the letter to the wrong person". She smiled but she was still worried

Laura started. She hadn't really been serious, but now that Vicky mentionted it, what if it was true? What if she really wasn't magical. Mentally shaking herself, and telling herself not to be silly, she laughed off her unease. "That won't happen," she said to Vicky firmly. "I won't let it!" Then she clicked her teeth for Godric to join her on the seat. "So, what are you most looking forward to?" she asked as she fed some owl treats to Godric and the ever egar Merlin!

"The lessons and I can't wait for our third year cos we can go to Hogsmeade at the weekend. I am sorry I worried you". she added

"No, it's OK, I'm just prone to over reacting! I can't wait for the lessons either! Transfiguration sounds good, and Defense Against the Dark Arts!" Laura assured Vicky.

"I can't wait for defence against the dark arts and care of magical creatures, what about Hogsmeade?" she smiled at her.

Jule woke up and looked out the window. "are we close yet?" she asked Vicky as she took out a pumpkin pastry and ate half.

"We should be Jules" she said as she turned to her friend. She was getting hungry for the feast now.

"oh ok. Is Thomas still sleeping? He must be a heavy sleeper."

"Ya, I am a heavy sleeper and I snore too." She thought she better tell them now just in case they became her dorm mates.
