The Dueling Arena is a large, open spaced room with numerous raised platforms for you to practice your wand work and hone your dueling skills. Challenge a friend or practice on your own with the number of dummies placed in the room. Please read the rules below, understand them and abide by them.

RULES

1. Under no circumstances are Unforgiveable Curses to be used or any spell that will cause permanent damage to an opponent (eg. Sectumsempra, Fiendfyre etc).

2. Please do not RP intent for your opponent, an example of this is shown below;

Plymouth pointed his wand at Copernicus and shouted the incantation, "Stupefy." There was a flash of light and it hit Copernicus in the chest and he fell to the floor unconscious. (Please refrain from doing this, otherwise I will be forced to delete your post).

A better option is shown below;

Plymouth pointed his wand at Copernicus and shouted the incantation, "Stupefy." There was a flash of light, heading in Copernicus' direction. (This gives Copernicus an opportunity to either block the spell or move out of the way or if he is so inclined to let his brother stun him, then he could take the fall

).

3. If you intend to show a little creativity and make up your own spells, which I don't mind so long as you leave an ooc comment at the end of your post describing what the spell is and what it does. (Please keep it as real as possible thank you).

4. Please show respect to the other dueler's in the arena.

5. And most of all have fun! Creativity is always appreciated.

Professor Lawson will be popping into the arena, quite often to see how his students are fairing and will be quite happy to offer any assistance.

ooc: One small favor I ask. Please try and keep it as canon as possible. I don't expect any first year to pull off amazing dueling skills.

Ahh, time to stun the other opponent. Maybe it was time to bring out her new charm that she had learned and practiced sooo well at home, playing pranks on her brothers.

Karma cut the air with her wand, yelling, "Protego!" in the process. The spell ricocheted off of her shield and hit the ceiling. She was getting tired. What spell to do now?

Ohh, her favorite one. She cast the silent Jelly-Legs Jinx to Lesalle, the bolt of light flying fast towards her opponent.

Amanda wasn't paying attention once again, distracted by her next move, she got hit by the jinx and her legs started wobbling uncontrollably. She aimed her wand at her legs and cleared her throat. "Finite Incantatem" She muttered, cancelling out the effect of the jinx.

Turning her wand back to Karma with a smirk, she aimed the wand directly at her opponent's head and thought of the perfect spell to use. "Engorgio" She said with a smirk, firing off the charm.

Karma smirked as the spell hit her opponent and watched as she wobbled around the room. Heeheeheeeeee.

Uh oh - Engorgio. Rather than hitting her head, Karma spun to prevent that, but jumped when the spell hit her in the worst place EVER. Riiiiight in the butt. It slightly burned, and Karma jumped.

"HOLY SNAPDRAGONS!!!" she yelled, jumping around.

Ahahahaha. Her butt was HUUUUGE. Even she couldn't help but laugh at it. Once it stopped growing, she had to sit down on her newly huge butt. Oh geez. This was turning into an interesting duel.

"Finite Incantantem.... haaaahahaha. Reducio.... hahaha."

Once she was over her little spell of laughter, she decided it was time to use her new found charm. She turned to the practice dummy, and raised her wand.

"Piertotum Locomotor," she said, and the statue sprung to life. She held her wand out to control the dummy and what it did. Ohh Karma's face was going to get stuck in the smirking position it was in.

Ricco was caught by surprise from the ropes but still able to point his wand he whispered "Incarneous", using the same trick as the boy Ricco made them appear above him with such speed and made sure that he didnt see it coming.

Cedric saw that Ricco point a spell to him but it was only smoke that came out in Ricco's wand because he mispell Incarcerous that bind the opponents to a rope.Ricco said Incarneous and that was a wrong incantation.

ooc: I am going to give you the opportunity to edit your posts. It clearly states in the rules not to RP intent for your opponent, which you have done. Either edit your post or I will delete it. Also we all make spelling mistakes at some point, so I don't think that needs to be held against a person.

Amanda couldn't help but laugh once the engorgement charm hit Karma in the butt, that was the most amusing sight that she had ever seen in a duel in the whole time that she was at Hogwarts. She calmed herself down ever so slightly to notice her opponent's next move, it was something that she hadn't seen before so it was time to improvise.

Aiming her wand at the now live dummy, she grinned slightly as she came up with what she was going to do now. "Incendio" She said, firing off the spell at the dummy.

GASP! She set it on fire. Hmm.

Karma made it dance around in front of Amanda, getting close but not too incredibly close, in case she didn't like the fire. After not having as much fun with it as she thought, she decided on a new one.

"Aguamenti," she said, putting out the fire. "Finite Incantatem."

And the dummy dropped to the floor, where she levitated it out of the way. Ohh how cliche her next spell was.

"Expelliarmus!" she shouted, flicking her wand soo fast, that she even surprised herself.

Amanda smirked as she watched the dummy be extinguished in a stream of water, as she noticed the dummy be sent out of the way, she regained her focus to notice a disarming spell coming towards her. That was considered quite disrespectful to disarm someone during a duel, she learnt that during her first year. She dodged the spell with a smirk, then moved back to the middle of the platform.

"Furnunculus!" She yelled the incantation and fired the spell off at Karma with a grin.

Ah, not good. Lesalle reacted in a strange way to her Disarming Spell. What was it that Kazimeriz told her? Oh, that here in England it was disrespectful to do that. Shoot. Stupid German ways.

Well, she must not have taken it too hard, seeing as she shot another spell at her. EW EW EW. Karma realized what spell it was, and jumped out of the way. That would have been a bad charm.

Hmm. Maybe a simple one, that would be entertaining as well.

Amanda was just not happy with almost being disarmed by Karma, unfortunately there was no time to deal with that at the moment because she had to pay attention to what was happening in the duel. "Protego" She said and casted the shield charm quickly, deflecting the on-coming charm.

She wasn't going to cast anymore spells that harmed her opponent, now it was time to have some fun. "Tarantallegra" She said, with a slight smirk on her lips.

Aww come on. It was time for fun, and she deflected the charm. Luckily Karma darted as the beam of light shot back at her. Nuh uh, no way was that gonna do down.

Just that second that she wasn't paying attention, Lesalle cast a spell, and Karma started dancing. Wheeee! Wait, AHEM.

"Finite Incantatem," she mumbled, and her legs stopped. That was an intense workout there. Then, Karma cast the Trip Jinx to see if it would work.

Amanda laughed once Karma got hit by the charm, ah the dancing was just absolutely hilarious. She was growing quite tired of this duel, it became clear to her that no one was going to win this one but she would accept a draw.

Dodging out of the way of the on-coming trip jinx, she pondered what to do. "It appears to me that this duel would be going on for ages without a winner, so I propose we call this a draw." She said, not lowering her wand at all.

Noo, not a draw. This would go out with a winner, one way or another. Yeah, she was getting tired of it, but practice all the time? No thanks.

"Ahh, but I don't think so, just yet..." Karma said, her voice lowering as she smirked.

She poised herself, wand drawn the same way Amanda's was.

"Stupefy!"

"That's your choice, I wanted to save you from being beaten by a fourth year." Amanda said with a huge smirk. She watched the flash of red come towards her and decided to just take a bit of a chance.

"Stupefy!" She yelled the incantation, firing the spell directly at Karma.

MERLIN'S EARWAX!

Suddenly, Karma was thrown backwards and into the air when Lesalle sent the stunning charm at her. It was almost like slow motion, being launched backward.

The only thing that Karma could figure was that their spells hit in midair, because her wand was no longer in her hand, and she was lying face down on the floor. Luckily, she didn't do a faceplant. Ohh lawd, the explanations to that one.

"Woah, man," Karma said, sitting up.

Amanda ended up being thrown backwards herself by the sheer force of the collision of both the stunning spells. She looked around after the collision, shaking off any dust that was on her, she got back up and headed back over to the platform.

"Merlin, that was absolutely crazy." She said seriously, lowering her wand now; there was no point in continuing this now after that.

Karma got up, brushed herself off, and grinned. She looked for her wand, and found it, then stepped back up to the platform.

"I don't know about you," she said. "But that my friend, was awesome."

Karma bowed towards Lesalle. Worthy opponent. She would most definitely keep her in mind for later. After bowing, she stepped down to reach for her school robe.

"I will keep you on my list for dueling partners. Any time you need to take out frustration, I'm your woman."

Amanda put her wand back in her robes and bowed back at Karma, she was quite impressed. That was the best duel that she had in a long time, quite the good opponent.

"I shall keep that in mind, that was an impressive duel. I must say, that I haven't had a good duel like this in a very long time." She replied, getting off the platform then fixing her tie and smoothing out her robes.

Karma smirked. She liked this girl. Note to self: keep Amanda Lesalle in mind.

"Come find me if you need me," she said, nodding her head.

She walked over to the door, also keeping in mind to tell Marcus about the duel. Err, Professor Lawson. Yeah, that guy.

"I shall." Amanda replied with a slight grin as she headed over to the sidelines to sit down. She looked at the both platforms where the duel just happened and smirked slightly, she had never seen a collision of stunning spells before so it totally surprised her.

HMPFF!

Mumbling and muttering under his breath Jake made his way to the dueling arena, feeling sufficiently sedated by that bloody calming draught. Soon enough he was inside, and quickly went to stand be a wall. Seeing no Lawson, Jake slid down the wall to sit on the floor, taking his wand out of his pocket and scowling a tad. They wanted him out of their just to hex him back in.

Marcus strode into the dueling arena, wand in hand and he scanned the room to see Jake sitting on the floor. "On your feet Upstead, this is no time to be taking a break. We're here to make a man of you after all." He let a small smirk touch his lips as he moved up onto the dais.

He waited for Jake to climb up onto the dais and he stood with his arms wide open and his wand hanging loosely in his hand. "Now Mr Upstead, show me what you've got. Disarm me!" Marcus stood perfectly still, he had no intentions of defending himself. he wanted to see what Jake could actually accomplish.
