Wand stored neatly away (in a holster, of course), Anna Greingoth stepped into the room which housed the dueling arena. This was her first trip to the arena this school year, so she was a little rusty on her dueling. Hopefully Cela would go a bit easy on her seeing that dueling wasn't exactly Anna's specialty. Nevertheless, would she tell the girl that? Probably not, but the thought did cross Anna's mind as she glanced around and took in the sight of all the duellers already exhibiting some pretty awesome moves. Anna would've waved to her friends Amanda and Karma, but they looked to be pretty busy locked up in a duel. Having nothing else to do, Anna just stood off to the side and awaited Cela's arrival.

Totally not a cleanfreak.

Ooooooh, Lawson... struck a nerve, have we?

No.

He.

Did.

Not make a threat.

He.

Merely.

Made.

A statement.

Oh... oh, wait. Jake thought he was home free as he reached the door, before he slammed straight into something that he couldn't see. DIRTY TRICK!

"What are you doiiiiing?" Jake muttered suspiciously, eyeing the other girl who was watching. "This... this is... false imprisonment!"

I'll 'ave you for this, Lawson. Mwaha.

Try and put one over the DADA Professor and you're going to pay!

Marcus folded his arms across his chest and gazed at the Hufflepuff calmly. "Keep going the way you are going Mr Upstead and I will make it a true imprisonment...up in the owlery." And this time I will conduct the detention myself.

"Now we can do this the easy way or we can do it the hard way. The choice is yours Mr Upstead. I have taken time out of my busy schedule to help you with your wand work and you are determined to make my life difficult." He unfolded his arms and twirled his wand in his hand and then walked to the window and looked out towards the ground at Professor Morgan's hut. "You said your wand was at Professor Morgan's?"

THAT shut him up. Riiiiiiiight up. If he had another detention he was off the quidditch team. And that = NOT FUN! Poutpout. "But... I didn't do anything... wrong," he pointed out, fighting to keep his voice level and calm. GRRRR!

"Erm... what does each option entail, exactly?" Jake asked, twisting his face around as though he was considering something... which he was. Bleh... whatever.

Wait... his wand? Didn't he snap that thing in half?

"I did?" Jake asked, feeling a little confused and toterly forgetting his earlier lie. "Erm... I mean... yeah, sure I did."

Total innocence.

Celandine had her wand too, in her pink wrist holster. In her hands she carried a few textbooks and a jar of red wand paint with a couple little paint brushes. "Hi Anna." Cel moved over to some empty seats and carefully put the books and the red wand paint down. "Alright, I marked the pages for the blessings, she opened one of them and read out, "fehu fehu fehu, f f f f f f f f f, fu fa fi fe fo, of ef if af uf, f f f f f f f f f..." Giggle. "That's the Galdr one, Professor Lupa mentioned in class, so should we do that one?"

"Yet" Marcus said from the window. "But you threatened to tell people what you heard here earlier." He turned back from the window to look at the Hufflepuff and raised an eyebrow. "And I haven't done anything to you...yet."

Ah, funny how he could always tell when someone was lying to him just one of those tricks you pick up being an auror or perhaps it was just something he knew. Marcus pushed off the wall and sauntered back over to Jake. "Since you have either lost your own wand or done something to it. Your options are clearly limited, so I would suggest that you use that wand for the time being until you get yourself a new one. And your options would be this. I am here to help you with your wand work so you can either co-operate and perhaps learn something or keep giving me attitude and you will find yourself hanging from the ceiling."

Felixir 06-20-2009 01:51 AM

"Yes," Jake repeated, using his own brains here. Or so he thought. "I mean... no. It was a simple statement. And not against any rules that I know of."

BUUURRRRRN!

Pfft, Jake hated when he was caught. HATED! "But... it's not my wand," the boy insisted, wondering why Lawson wasn't quite grasping that he could NOT use another wand. NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO! Wait, what? Hanging from the... chyeah, whatever. "I'm not giving you attitude..." You are simple picking up on the attitude that happens to be present.

"And you wouldn't dare," he added, grinning evilly, totally calling the man's bluff, thinking he was right. Typical kid, eh? <<<<< Just totally killed me to write that.

"Boy am I ever glad I got teamed up with you for this Ancient Runes assignment," Anna said, watching in amazement as Cela arrived with a ton of interesting materials in hand. "Oh, and hey, by the way." Anna wrinkled her face in confusion when Cela did read weird sort of something or another out of the pages of her textbook. Anna was rubbish---rubbbish at Ancient Runes! "Okay, erm, I remember that little blessing the professor taught us last term. Hammer in the North, East, and all that..."

"Let's do both of them...the one you just read aloud and the one from last term. Does it have that blessing in the book? If not, I remember it," Anna said. ""You think of the God you want to help you bless your Runes, first of all. Then, you say, 'Hammer in the North, East, South, West, above and below hallow and hold this holy-stead! Around me and in me Asgardhr and Midgardhr!' Then she taught us to write the rune on the paper, and lean over and kiss it." Like Cela, Anna let out a little giggle, too.

"Oh right! Good idea! Okay um... So..." Celandine carefully put her wand in front of her on her lap and eyed it thoughtfully. "So I do mine merkstave right?" She picked up a paint brush and carefully started to draw an upside down Fehu rune in red on the handle of her wand, taking a deep breath to intone;

"fehu fehu fehu
f f f f f f f f f
fu fa fi fe fo
of ef if af uf
f f f f f f f f f
"

She figured she should think about Freya for this part,

"Hammer in the North, East,
South, West, above and below
hallow and hold this holy-stead!
Around me and in me
Asgardhr and Midgardhr!
"

Thankful that it was quick-dry wand paint, Cela bent over and kissed the newly drawn rune and sat up, looking at it with interest. Was it just her or did it shimmer a bit?

"I know it's not Upstead, you can still use it though. It won't be as effective as using your own but we are only going to be using simple spells." Lawson, was so very close to throttling the kid. In his day, when a teacher said do something you went ahead and did it without a fuss.

Wrong.

Thing.

To.

Say.

With a lazy flick of his wand in Jake's direction, the kid was hoisted into the air by his underpants and hung from the ceiling by an invisible hook. "Oh wouldn't I?"

ooc: Just had to put this in. Jake can use another wand. Harry used Hermione's and Neville used his father's. Just thought I would clear that up.

Anna Banana 06-20-2009 02:56 AM

Tegz

Anna stood back and watched as Celandine began the ritual. She was really glad the Ravenclaw girl was going first, as she still wasn't quite sure what to do. She paid attention to every detail, trying remember exactly what she was supposed to do. It seemed easy enough to remember. "Okay, my turn now!" Anna exclaimed. She, too, placed her wand in her lap and grabbed a paintbrush. She drew a regular Fehu rune on the wand, stopping ever so often to make sure she was doing it correctly. "Alright, rituals..."

"fehu fehu fehu
f f f f f f f f f
fu fa fi fe fo
of ef if af uf
f f f f f f f f f
"

"Hammer in the North, East,
South, West, above and below
hallow and hold this holy-stead!

Asgardhr and Midgardhr!
"

Alright, here's hoping for the best. Holding up the wand, Anna raised it to her lips and gave it a quick kiss. "All set..." She stood from her seat and looked towards the dueling arena. She was getting a little nervous at the thought of dueling someone like Celandine Toussaint.

Effectiveness BLAH! It was not. His. Wand.

NOT. HIS.

Sure he could use it. Just as much as he could steal someone's shoes. NOT HIS. Just... NOT!

...

This.

Man.

Was.

VERY.

EVIL!

Dude.

"WHAT THE-?!" he fumed, moving some more, only finding that it HURT! What in the name of all that is good and comfortable. What kind of torture was this?! "Is this even LEGAL?!"

Lezleighd 06-20-2009 03:01 AM

Satine felt like she was watching a tennis match...left...right....left....right...point...lo ve...no there was no love in this duel...no it was a battle of epic proportions ...She knew her mouth was hanging wide open and she was starting to realize that this was not the match that she wanted to watch and learn from...this was...was...personal...

Realizing that she didn't want to be here, she slowly stood up and put her back as close to the wall as she could and edged out very slowly afraid that too much movement would bring attention to her...well...her retreat out of the room as fast as she could slide down the wall.

She edged slowly along making sure that her back was very very close to the wall and just as she got to the door to leave, said almost at a whisper, "Professor, thank you for letting me watch...ummmm...I think I have some homework to finish somewhere...I...I'll stop by later to try to watch another match...Thanks again." she finished with an uncertain smile.

"Mmm.... okay! I guess we are dueling now!" Celandine was ridiculously excited about the prospect of dueling the head girl. I mean ZOMG! Anna was like... AWESOME at EVERYTHING!

Cela stood up and tidied her things away. Then she moved over to one of the dueling platforms and waited for Anna.

Anna, too, straightened the little area they'd been working on. No use in leaving a mess laying around...especially when Professor Lawson was in the area. "Yup, yup! Off we go," Anna replied, then followed Cela over to the dueling arena. She held her head high and tried her hardest to appear confident, even though she actually felt like crawling into the dueling arena. Nevertheless, she entered the arena as she should, then walked to side opposite Cela.

After she's assumed the stance and done all that 'yada, yada' stuff she'd been taught to do, Anna raised her wand into the air, a sign that she was now ready to begin the duel. Gulp.

She was about to duel a seventh year. Not like any old seventh year. This one was the SMARTEST of all of them! Celandine did all the bowing and pacing and blah blah and decided to start. She shot a look at professor Lawson, thinking about all the intent stuff and lifted her wand.

She was ready too.

The sight was funny and Marcus could not help but to burst into laughter at the sight of Jake Upstead hanging from the ceiling. He conjured himself a chair and sat down and looked up. "This is Hogwarts Mr Upstead and legalities don't come into it." He smirked at the boy and he knew that he must be feeling rather uncomfortable right now.

"Hmm...kind of makes you think, it would have been so much easier just to do as you were told huh?" He pointed his wand at Jake and slowly twirled it around and watched as Jake mimicked his wand action, it was kind of like watching a baby's mobile hanging over the cot. "To think if you had your wand or used the one I had offered, you probably wouldn't be in this predicament."

"Yep sure Satine" Marcus replied never taking his eyes off Jake. "Come by anytime you like, you can even practice against me if you like." He kept a straight face as he spoke, the girl was already freaking out and he didn't want her to know that he was thoroughly enjoying himself. He snorted softly, he supposed this would be in the Aparecium next.

"Expelliarmus!" Anna called out, beginning the duel with the same spell she usually started with. Psh...and history said Potter was bad about that. Truth be known, though, she seriously wasn't an expert at dueling, and she sort of feared she'd walked out this arena with a missing limb or fried hair or something. Toussaint over there had probably been studying these spells like her life depended on it. What had Anna been doing all the while? Well, erm, studying how well pink color coordinates with red, of course. Ahhh, boo. Were there even spells related to that? Nope, not unless Anna planned to use a color-changing spell, which she didn't.

Now, let's see...Fehu meant increased luck, wealth, and good fortune. That meant that if Anna's spell actually took Cela by surprise (which was unlikely to happen), then the force which disarmed her would likely be multiplied. Anna's eyes fixated on Cela and her wand, waiting to see what would happen next.

Cela was a little surprised, because... Expelliarmus? Really? It hit her and Cela had to make a ridiculous grab for her wand, though it didn't quite leave her hand. She brought her hand around in a continuous arc, using the momentum her wand had gotten from Anna's spell.

"Expelliarmus!" Celandine flicked her wand, deciding to try the same spell. Fehu merkstave meant loss of personal property, right? And putting in effort to keep something?

Erm...

...what?

She'd really hit a Toussaint with a spell? Whooaaa. Cool and stuff. Anna froze a little while she watched Cela fumble for her wand. She blinked once, then quickly found herself a bit caught off guard by the girl's quick return. A force very similar to a vacuum pretty much sucked Anna's wand right out of her grasp, and in her surprise, Anna sort of tumbled to the ground. Her eyes wide with shock, Anna scrambled on all fours in an effort to make a dive for her wand. When she finally caught up with it, she found herself a foot or two from where Cela was standing.

Erm...uhh...

Conjure birds, yes. Oh, noes! What was the spell? Anna had allowed herself to get so freaked out over this duel, that her memory was starting to give way a bit. "Erm...orchideous!!!"

A large bouquet of flowers shot from Anna's wand and flew right into Cela's directions. Oops.....well, now that wasn't the correct spell, now was it?

"Prot...WUH?" Orchideous?! In Cela's surprise her shield did not happen, she messed up the incantation and then the next thing she knew there was a massive bouquet of flowers and it had knocked her wand out of her hand, and then started beating Cela around the head for a few moments before exploding into a shower of petals and floating down to create a carpet of nature on the dueling arena floor. Cela blinked twice. That had been ridiculously LUCKY and a ridiculously ABUNDANT bouquet of flowers.

"Accio wand!" Her wand flew back into her hand and she giggled. "Incendio!" Celandine stepped back and flicked her wand at the mess of leaves and flowers, which promptly burst into flame. "Eeeeee! Anna watch out! Don't get burned!"

"Sorry, Cells! I....huh?" Anna asked, questioning no one in particular. She watched with a horror stricken face as her massive bouquet of flowers proceeded to attempt beating Cela to a pulp before self-destructing. Whoa... Still rather shocked at the recent turn of events, Anna found herself a little dazed and out of it when Cela casted Incendio. Incendio? As in fire? "I...uhh...wha? Oh, Cela! My shoelaces!" Anna called out. In a matter of seconds, the shoelaces on her left shoe had caught fire, and Anna fumbled to get her wand pointed in their direction. "Aguamenti!" she called out, as a huge gush of water showered her shoes and a good portion of the floor. "Good Merlin! That was enough water for the freaking squid to live in!" Of course it really wasn't that much water, but it was more water than Anna had ever seen from Aguamenti.

"Oh, erm, yeah...she was supposed to be casting now, yes? Right. So, erm... "Tarantallegra!" she exclaimed. Ohh, Anna liked dancing a whole lot. Maybe Cela would do a little jig on the arena floor!

Cela nearly slipped on the deluge of water, "Too bad we aren't using Isa!" She'd have frozen that water if they had been.

"Protego!" Celandine used the focused shielding technique that Kazimeriz had taught the term before, flicking her wrist neatly and using her own momentum to cast again, sending a quick flurry of stunners at Anna and following them up with a sponge knees curse... aiming it at her knees, obviously.

"We aren't using what? Anna asked, as she shook off her drenced feet. How did this girl remember all these Rune names and their meanings? It was like she had this neverending dictionary stored up there in that head of hers.

Upon hearing Cela's casting of the Shield Charm, Anna blinked and fixed her gaze directly on the Ravenclaw. It wouldn't do to be caught off guard again. She just might not fare as well as she had before. Then again, she did have that Fehu power and all that jazz. Mimicking her friend's spell, Anna lifted her wand and called out, "Protego!" She felt the force of the spell as it came into contact with the Sponge Knees Cela had cast. It felt unusually powerful in a pleasing sort of way. "Ohh----erm, Avis Oppugno!" she finally called out. Ahh, yes. There was that bird charm she was trying to cast a few minutes ago.

ZOMG! THASSALOTTABIRDS! Celandine threw herself to the floor and cast her shield in a wide arc over herself, "Protego!" The birds pinged off and continued coming back and dive bombing her, Celandine took a deep breath and tried to think what would be the best thing to use against the birds. Fire? That incendio had been quite strong before, due to the Fehu rune marked Merkstave on her wand...

She let her shield drop and stood up, spinning around and keeping her wand tight against her body as she flicked her wrist from the hip, "Incendio!" The flames spread out and the birds... the poor birds...

Cela shed a tear for the birds and flicked her wrist up at Anna, "Incarcerous!" Fehu Merkstave represented.... bondage, right? GO ROPES GO!

"Stop laughing at me!" Jake snapped, wincing in pain (which was making it rather hard for him to glare). Grrrrrrr. "You wait, sir... you just wait... You won't get away with this."

Yeah, he was starting to believe he made an error, trying to stop Dani and Clark in operation WaterBalloon. That was the ONLY regret he was having.

"It wasn't my wand!" Jake exclaimed, wanting to flail in fury as he started rotating. Geez, that man was EVIL. "I can't use it if it's not mine. I just can't... and... I do have my wand," he added, reaching awkwardly into his pocket and dropping the two halves of his wand straight down onto the floor, the snidget father inside them quite visible.

Geez, what a meanie.
