The Dueling Arena is a large, open spaced room with numerous raised platforms for you to practice your wand work and hone your dueling skills. Challenge a friend or practice on your own with the number of dummies placed in the room. Please read the rules below, understand them and abide by them.

RULES

1. Under no circumstances are Unforgiveable Curses to be used or any spell that will cause permanent damage to an opponent (eg. Sectumsempra, Fiendfyre etc).

2. Please do not RP intent for your opponent, an example of this is shown below;

Plymouth pointed his wand at Copernicus and shouted the incantation, "Stupefy." There was a flash of light and it hit Copernicus in the chest and he fell to the floor unconscious. (Please refrain from doing this, otherwise I will be forced to delete your post).

A better option is shown below;

Plymouth pointed his wand at Copernicus and shouted the incantation, "Stupefy." There was a flash of light, heading in Copernicus' direction. (This gives Copernicus an opportunity to either block the spell or move out of the way or if he is so inclined to let his brother stun him, then he could take the fall

).

3. If you intend to show a little creativity and make up your own spells, which I don't mind so long as you leave an ooc comment at the end of your post describing what the spell is and what it does. (Please keep it as real as possible thank you).

4. Please show respect to the other dueler's in the arena.

5. And most of all have fun! Creativity is always appreciated.

Professor Lawson will be popping into the arena, quite often to see how his students are fairing and will be quite happy to offer any assistance.

ooc: One small favor I ask. Please try and keep it as canon as possible. I don't expect any first year to pull off amazing dueling skills.

Kailey nervously stepped into the dueling arena across from a dummy. As a second year she hadn't had much practice, but she was willing to give it a try.
"Expelliamus!" she shouted giving her wand a florish, but of course, nothing happened. She sighed.

Herminny happened to notice a girl walking into the dueling arena by herself and thought what the heck and walked in to see her practing on a dummy and tapped her shoulder and said, "The dummt is just to for you to get warmed off, the dueling arena is here for students to duel against each other, that said, I'm Herminny Telerino, wanna duel?".

Cedric entered the dueling arena as he noticed that nobody was there.So he needs to wait for his opponent so they can start to duel.He gently took a seat in the corner so he will not get tired of waiting.

He was ready to fight to that boastful guy,Ricco.He will give the best that he can give just to win the fight.It was his first wizard duel but he always practice somewhere where no one can see him practicing.He was pretty sure that he was going to win.

Ricco entered the dueling area hoping to burn off some steam and since this kid wanted to get revenge he wasnt going to stop him, Taking his wand out he waited on the lazy kid to get out of the chair while keeping perfectly quiet.

Ricco hated arrogannt kids "Stop acting so cocky and fire a sspell already" he said as he groweled at the kid deciding that if he didnt fire a spell he was just going to leave and do something worthwhile.

Cedric hates boastful guys."Umm!okay.Let's do this."Cedric sighed as he point his wand towards the guy."Petrificus Totalus."Cedric shout as silvery mist went out in his wand and it heads to Ricco.He was now waiting if Ricco could block it or not and hoping that Ricco can't.

Ricco sigheed when the kid sent out a pathetic spell "Protego" Ricco shouted as the misted knocked off of his spell and hit a one of the walls in the corner , since the kid was gonna go gentle he was gonna go gentle to so pointing his wand at his legs he shouted "Locomotor Mortis "

Cedric was amazed that Ricco block his spell.However,He needs to block now Ricco's spell but he doesn't know the counter spell.So when the spell was goin to hit him.He roll and he was saved and the chair was hitted by the spell

"Lucky."He muttered to himself then he stand up and point his wand to Ricco."Levicorpus."He shout then again something was coming out of his wand and was heading towards to Ricco so fast.You can't pass this one,He thought.

Ricco was proud at the boy that he could make a spell come at him faster, well it meant he was learning . "Protego" he shouted and the spell bounced off the shield and went back to him at the same speed as it came at him.

Rhea walked moodily into the dueling arena. She was frustrated with her friends not being around, with quidditch season taking forever to start...with everything! She mumbled to herself as she tossed her school bag and robe aside and climbed unto the platform in front of a dueling dummy. She whipped her wand out then pointed it at the chest area of the dummy.
"Diffindo!" she covered her head as the dummy's chest blew apart. She quickly repared him with her wand and repeated the two spells over and over until she was exhausted. "At least now I can go to the common room and pass out,"she thought aloud as she raised her wand, one last time..

Amanda walked into the duelling arena with a smug grin on her crimson lips, she was waiting for an opponent worthy of duelling, in her mind that meant an older student. She enjoyed duelling older students only since it was a good challenge, however she usually ended up losing the duel.

GAH. Stupid teenage angst. Karma was mad, for some reason, and she had no idea why. So why not take out her anger on some poor, younger student? Hehehehe. Erm, not such a bad idea.

She had her wand out and was twirling it between her fingers, when she noticed the Slytherin singer girl standing around. Hmmm.

Giggle.

"Ay," she said, nodding her head up. "You look bored."

Karma took off her school robe to wear her skirt, vest, shirt and tie. Of course, she untucked everything, and then stepped onto the platform, smirking.

"That I am." Amanda replied with a slight smirk, drawing her wand from inside her robes. Well this girl was looking to duel and she was gladly going to duel this Ravenclaw, whether or not she won didn't matter to her, it was great practice for her. She stepped onto the other platform, her wand pointed down at the floor for the moment; then she bowed slightly to be proper.

Karma also bowed, still smirking, wand pointed at the floor.

"Let me introduce myself," she said, twirling her wand, her German accent showing more. "I'm Karma Atkins. Yes, Karma. The karma philosophy is a pain, you know? I think that's why my parents named me that."

She stood up straight again, debating for a moment. Then, without warning, she was ready.

"Impedimenta!" she yelled, as the spell went flying towards her opponent's legs.

"Well, its nice to meet you. The name's Amanda Lesalle, nothing special about my name only who I am. It's quite unfortunate that we couldn't meet in a more peaceful situation." Amanda said with a devilish grin, now was not the time to be social, this was a duel after all.

Noticing the spell coming towards her, she had to think quickly as to what to do. Well there were only two options; deflect the spell with Protego or just move out of the way. Not bothering to weigh out the objections, she raised her wand quickly. "Protego" She said clearly, casting the shield charm; she hoped that it wasn't too late to deflect the spell.

Karma cast a silent Shield Charm as well when Amanda deflected the spell back to her. Eeeeenteresting. Slytherins were known to use the worst possible spells to attack the other students in the arena. Maybe she was different, as the only nice Slytherin she knew was Reese.

Let's see what one she would come up with next.

"Tarantallegra!"

Amanda smirked slightly, dodging well out of the way of the oncoming spell, she wanted to have a little fun before she got serious. Moving back to the center of the platform, she raised her wand with a grin, considering the curse she wanted to use.

"Locomotor Mortis!" She yelled, casting the curse directly at Karma.

Eeeep! She haaaaated that jinx. That one tripped her up. For real, yo.

She shot another Shield Charm, barely in enough time. Amanda's curses were fast, and Karma was impressed. Smirking, she had a charm in mind, but would wait till the end of the duel for that. After all, she was just getting warmed up.

"Levicorpus!"

Amanda was so consumed in her thoughts for her next move that she didn't notice the jinx coming towards her, she ended up being dangled in mid-air by her ankles. Well this was a lovely situation, if she cancelled out the effects of the spell herself, she was going to drop and hit the platform.

"Finite Incantatem" She said, pointing her wand at herself and bracing herself for the fall.

Karma smirked smugly as the spell hit Amanda. Then, out of generosity, conjured a cushion for Amanda to land on. No need for anyone getting hurt around here.

She pointed her wand at the ground again, and stood up straight.

"Langlock," she said, apathetically.

OOC: Langlock glues the tongue to the roof of the person's mouth. Snape made it.

Amanda hit the cushion that Karma had conjured up, at least she wasn't about to get hurt anytime soon. Easily dodging the oncoming hex, she got up and aimed her wand back at the Ravenclaw.

"Densaugeo!" She yelled the incantation and cast the spell directly at her opponent.

ACK! Not the beaver spell!

To Karma's horror, her front teeth began to grow, and FAST. She freaked out a little bit and spazzed. Then, she had to think of something fast, before she couldn't talk.

"Finite Incantatem!" she said with her wand at her face, muffled. Her teeth stopped growing, and then again, she had to point it again at her face. "Reduthio." Damn it. "Reee--doo-shee-ooh."

All better. She put her hand up to her mouth to feel her teeth. Hopefully they were better now. She did have to give Amanda credit though, that was one she wasn't prepared for.

"I give you points, Lesalle," Karma said. "Incarcerous."

OOC: Incarcerous ties the opponent up with ropes.

Amanda chuckled slightly when she noticed Karma's teeth were growing, ah that spell made her laugh when it hit an opponent head on. She moved out of the way to dodge the on-coming spell, she wasn't about to get hurt anytime soon.

"Stupefy" She said, firing off a flash of light directly at her opponent.
