| | The Camp-Out! Constantine Masterson was busy attending to a rather LARGE pile of wood. He had spent all morning creating a pit and then fire-proofing anything within a 100 ft radius. He was now getting all the wood set up in a tee-pee shape. To a patch of grass off to the side was sitting quite a few baskets of food and LARGE blankets. There were also some extra sleeping bags in case any body forgotten theirs or just didn't have one. Come on up! The party's just about to start! |

She wasn't ever going to let it drop, was she? "I'M AMERICAN!" He said, loudly. "I'm meant to be loud, isn't that what you English people think? So if I'm loud, you better go find some scones, and tea." He kind of loved it when she squeezed his neck. Just as long as she didn't do it too hard. "That's no reason." Coughing just once as her arms fastened around his neck, he managed to gasp out, "Can I put you down now we've established that we're related?" Well, related in a very odd sense. They'd decided that they were related, therefore, they must be. Which was very weird if you looked at it from a different angle to the one that he was looking at it from.
As she let go of his shoulders, he thought for one moment that she'd decided to jump off, but his hopes were dashed as she grabbed on again. His back really was beginning to hurt slightly, and he wondered if what he was doing, as in, holding her up, was actually good for him or not. Nowai. He actually knew more about an English custom than an English person did. That was amazing! "Well, tea, as in the hot drink that mums usually drink, and scones are like little cakes that you have with cream. Satisfied?" When she began to talk about the odd boy again, he rolled his eyes. "Seriously, were you meant to be a Slytherin? Bright colours are more Gryffindor and Hufflepuff type stuff, innit?" Now, the last word of his sentence made him cringe. Why the heck had he said that?

"Yeah I know...me! With my previous fears I was as surprised as anyone that I managed to stay hovering on a broom over all these angry merpeople! Mind you," she giggled, "I wouldn't want to do it again in a hurry."
Sarah started to look back at the stars as Mariel spoke of the summer again. She dearly hoped her friend would be able to get and visit her,she knew that she would never get to go to her house anyway. "Hmmm, well we can owl each other often, and even if you can't stay with me for a while,we can still go out and have fun somewhere," she smiled, nodding her head in the same way Mariel had.
Mariel appeared to be confused at Sarah's concern.Had she gotten it wrong, was there nothing the matter? Mariel's response made her even more confused. "Oh...I...I see," she stumbled, not sure what on earth her friend was talking about. "The Aparecium? I've got one,but I haven't read it for a while. All it seemed to be about was Professor Lawson and his conquests," she sighed, wiggling herself to get comfortable. Her eyes snapped open wide when Mariel mentioned Ryder.Sitting back up she turned to face her, eyebrows screwed up in confusion. "What do you mean 'worked things out'? We haven't got anything to work out,as far as I know...." Sarah sat trying to think of the last time they had spoken. It had all been about his findings in the library, and him actually asking her to be his girlfriend. As far as she was aware there was no problems that needed sorting....unless Mariel was referring to that Hogsmeade situation the month before.....
Snapping back to reality,Sarah smiled warmly at Mariel. "Thank you,I appreciate that. And I'm here for you too." Reaching across again Sarah gave her friend another small hug before laying back down. Once inside her sleeping bag, Mariel rolled over onto her stomach and propped her head up with her arms as she listened to the Adventures of Sarah v. the Merpeople. Hearing her tell about the excitement almost made her wish that she had been there too. Returning Sarah's giggle, she nodded, "I'm fairly certain that anything we get up to over the summer will pale in comparison." Yes, owls would work, she thought to herself as talk continued of the summer. Nothing suspicious in that... not that she thought her family would take much notice as of late. "So, what do Muggles do for fun?" she asked with a slight air of casual curiosity. Doing something like that over the summer would certainly be a change of pace, and now that she was taking Muggle Studies those kinds of things were somewhat interesting. Or maybe she was just being a little rebellious to her own family's values.
Biting her lower lip, Mariel nodded slowly as Sarah admitted not having read the Aparecium as of late. That made it even more difficult as she'd now have to be the one to break it to her that her boyfriend was the source of gossip. "Um..." she started, not exactly sure how to begin. The Ravenclaw pulled the piece of parchment out of her pocket. "It's just that I read something in here that I think you should know..." Mariel unfolded it as she looked down at it for a few minutes, then showed it to Sarah. Watching her carefully with a somewhat pained expression, she added in a quiet voice, "It says that your boyfriend was kissing another girl." She really hated to tell her something like that, but she was her friend and of course she had to know. Better she found from her than overhear some gossip in the corridors. Hopefully Sarah wouldn't be too upset.

He just couldn't believe that he would soon legally be an adult in the muggle world. From the tone of Rachel's voice he could guess that she was slightly panicked at just how soon his birthday was. "But it doesn't matter really. I'll be working and so wont really get to celebrate it this year, although my friends do want to take me out somewhere."
"April?" he asked, pulling away slightly and looking down at her. "That wasn't that long ago. So you turned sixteen then right?" he asked slightly confused. She was a fifth year after all so he had assumed she was fifteen at the start of the year but he thought he better confirm it right now. So you know he didn't right something stupid on the card he'd have to give her next year.
"It depends on your definition of cool. Their definition tends to be models. If we're going off that then no. But if we go by my definition then yeah there are 'cool people' here." he replied, letting her grab hold of the distraction, seeing how happy she was that he'd mentioned her to his friends. "They can be quite pretentious sometimes and tend to think that they're better than others. Probably because most of them are stuck up models." he mused. "But when you really get to know them and if they like you they'll pretty much protect you like your family."
She seemed extremely determined, it was cute really. Although he was sure he wouldn't think it was cute if the look was actually directed at him... He just knew that there wouldn't be many if any fangirls invading his private space this summer. It warmed his heart to see that Rachel felt so strongly on that issue even though they'd only just got together. He hoped that she kept that determination as time wore on and they got closer to each other.
Humming an old, familiar tune Reid let himself relax more as he just enjoyed the feel of the night air, the fire crackling not far away and the feeling of Rachel in his arms. If every night could be like this he would be in heaven. Wait - what? Eighteen? But he was a sixth year... "Are you a year older then?" she asked, slightly unnecessarily since it was rather obvious that he was. So that means that in less than a month Reid will be legal in the muggle world as well as in the wizarding world. ACK! "And there's no way you're escaping a celebration... One does not turn eighteen without commemorating the moment," she insisted, determined that he should have a celebratory party.
It's a shame that she'd only get to meet his friends a few days before - otherwise she might have planned something with them. "Yeah I'm sixteen and a bit," she nodded, feeling all off a sudden very young. She didn't like this weird feeling... She was used to feeling older than everyone else and more powerful so feeling young now not particularly pleasant.
Rachel laughed out loud as Reid began explaining that his friend's definition of cool would be models. "Boys will be boys," she chuckled and shook her head, wondering suddenly how his friends would see her. She knew that she wasn't ugly - although before meeting Reid, she had had second thoughts about that - but she wasn't a beauty queen either. Slightly taller than average, she was nothing compared to Reid so by definition that made her less model-esque. Weren't models supposed to be long, stick-like things with empty brains and dyed hair? At least the female version of them? That's what her mother had always said whenever they had happened across the topic. "They sound like your average gang of goofs mixed together with rising stars," she said pleasantly, not meaning to offend at all. "They all sound lovely and I can't wait to meet them," the fifth year added with a nod, just in case he didn't follow her line of thought.
Although she was comfortable in his arms, she was starting to get a little self conscious and just a TEENY bit sweaty. Pulling away, she grinned up at him then sat back down, taking his hand and pulling him down with her. "Now where is that cat of yours?"

Hopefully Sarah wouldn't be too upset. Placing her hands behind her head,Sarah continued looking up at the stars and stifled a yawn that tried to escape her mouth.Boy it was getting late, but everyone still seemed to be awake. She snorted with laughter at Mariel's comment. "I hope so! I've had enough near-death adventure for one year!" Turning her thoughts to the summer again she tried to think of things they could do,days out they could have.Things that Mariel might not have done before. And just then her friend asked her. "Well,I don't know really. How about ice skating, bowling, roller blading....oh oh!! And paint balling! That one is sooo much fun!" she said excitedly, rolling on to her stomach so she got a better look at Mariel as she explained it. "You see you dress up in protective clothing, take a gun loaded with paint and you have to try and 'kill'," she said, while making quotation marks in the air,to prove it wasn't for real, "your opponent. The person who gets hit the most is the loser. What do you think? They do it in the forest near where we live..." She was getting excited about it and they hadn't even sorted out details.
Sarah was still unsure as to what Mariel was getting at.Leaning in she watched as her friend took the piece of parchment out of her pocket and proceeded to explain. "Oh?," she enquired, taking the paper in her hands and glancing down.Something she should know? She had to squint to read it as the light was fading ever faster, but she needn't have worried,Mariel told her more or less what it said anyway. "Kissing another girl? Ohhhh you mean that older girl...Evolette something? Yes he told me she jumped him in Hogsmeade, waffling on about a contest or some such thing," she sighed, folding the parchment and handing it back. "He explained the next day when he gave me the chocolate he'd gone there to buy for me.She got to the Head Boy too,by all accounts.I was a little shocked at first, but I believed him when he said he had no idea she was going to do it." Looking across at Mariel,Sarah smiled. She loved the fact that Mariel was looking out for her, worried about her.True friendship that was. "Thank you...for telling me,even though I already knew," she winked. "It's nice being able to rely on your friends." |

I got really sick when I was eleven just before school would have started. I was in hospital for most of that year so I had to start the year after." he explained while sitting down next to her. "I hate celebrating my birthday. Normally my parents force me to go to some stuffy event with no-one that I actually like there." he replied with a shrug. If Rachel wanted him to celebrate then he would. But only because she thought it was important.
"My friends will love you." he said in a reassuring tone of voice, seeing the way she was seemingly lost in thoughts. "Even if they don't like you at first they will come to like you once they realise that you aren't after me for my money. I mean you didn't even know I was an actor." Reid said truthfully.
At her question about Neko Reid began to look around in a slight panic. Just where had his kitty gone. Sighing in relief he used their intertwined hands to point to a tent that was already well set-up. "She's in there where her bed is. I'm guessing that even though I was warm I wasn't warm enough for her. Plus she was tired so it's good she's getting some sleep."

At her question about Neko Reid began to look around in a slight panic. Just where had his kitty gone. Sighing in relief he used their intertwined hands to point to a tent that was already well set-up. "She's in there where her bed is. I'm guessing that even though I was warm I wasn't warm enough for her. Plus she was tired so it's good she's getting some sleep." "You hate celebrating?" Rachel repeated, slightly bemused. How could ANYONE hate celebrating? On those rare occasions where she actually was ABLE to celebrate, she had been practically bouncing up and down for weeks. It was sad to see that it wasn't like that for everyone. "When I was younger, my parents had this celebratory dinner with their fancy guests on my 10th birthday and I would not be exaggerating when I say that I absolutely loathed it. With a passion," she nodded, remembering the horrible event. She had just wanted to have a cake in the shape of something funky, like all her friends had, but instead she got mini dishes of panna-cotta (which was great) drenched in some sort of liquer (not so great)... If Reid's birthdays had all been something like that, then she felt sorry for him.
Plus, she could now understand why he didn't enjoy celebrating. "Tell you what - I'll sniff around while you're shooting, see if there's anything fun we can do. If there is, then we'll celebrate out but if there isn't maybe if you wanted, we could have a small gathering of some sort - just us and a couple friends... Nothing too extravagant - whatever you want. How does that sound?" she suggested gently, reaching out with her free hand to move a blond strand to the side of his face, framing it and smiling fondly at him. "Do people actually do that? It sounds horrid," Rachel said in a disgusted tone, turning from him to stare at the camp fire just ahead of them. She had of course heard stories and read books about women who married or got together with rich people - and the other way round, males were also despicable - but she just couldn't understand HOW people would want to sacrifice all the joys of life for something so materialistic. Money doesn't buy happiness - as she proved the moment she left it all behind and traded it with her life with Jake. And truthfully, she doubted that she had ever been happier.
Turning around to where both her and his hands were now pointing, she saw a much larger tent than her own and nodded as he explained that Neko was there. "Yeah, kittens tire easily - my own kitten, well, teenage cat now really would always be an energy bomb and then quite suddenly, fall asleep on my lap or under the bed," she told Reid, while catching a glimpse of the tiny tent that was hers behind Reid's. She tried not to sigh - Reid was lovely and all, but the fifth year would have to get used to being out-shined in pretty much everything from now on if she wanted to stay happy.
She honestly didn't mind it - all the glamour, all the money, the wealth - but no one could deny people needed adjusting to it. And she was no different. Forcing those thoughts towards the back of her head, she focused on one fact that almost made her laugh; while Reid might be a star in the outside world, at Hogwarts she had power greater than him. And that, in her mind, balanced everything out pretty nicely.

"Mostly it's just my own birthday I hate celebrating, I enjoy celebrating other peoples birthday's though. I remember when I was younger I looked forward to all my friends having a birthday because their parents would always let us do something fun. On my friend Jason's twelfth birthday his father took us to the set of a movie he was working on. His dad's a stunt man so we got a tour and everything. I actually got lost and accidentally went into a room where they were auditioning for another movie. It was what got me into acting more than modelling." Reid recounted the day with enthusiasm, clearly remembering what had happened in his minds eye. That day would have to have been the turning point in his life.
"Can you ride?" Reid asked, an idea formulating in his mind. Clearly Rachel wanted to celebrate his birthday so he might as well give in and help her decide where to go. Plus he needed to go visit his horses anyway and all his friend's horses were in the same stables...
"Yea they do it. That's Hollywood though. And my old school." he gave a kind of self-deprecating look, remembering his first relationship. "It's mainly a school for the rich and magical but there are a few scholarship students who would pretend to like you just so that they could be seen with you and hopefully get some money off you." Reid shrugged as if to shake it off before turning his attention back to focus solely on Rachel.
"And will I get to meet this cat that you speak of?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow in slight question. Following her slightly disheartened gaze back to his tent he sighed realising what she must be thinking. "I just hope it doesn't fall down on her, or me. It took me about two hours to get it standing and then another hour to put my things in it and make a comfy bed for Neko. No matter how many times I go camping I never seem to master the art of putting up a tent. Which is actually a good thing I guess. I mean I can't be good at everything right?" he asked, telling her the truth about the tent. He'd even hurt himself while putting it up but decided it better to leave that little fact out.

I mean I can't be good at everything right?" he asked, telling her the truth about the tent. He'd even hurt himself while putting it up but decided it better to leave that little fact out. As Rachel listened to Reid tell his story, a little wind picked up and she shivered slightly, huddling closer to Reid for comfort. "That was some life altering party, huh?" she commented as he finished, in awe of what he had just said. Back when she was that young, the most she had on her mind was (before she knew she was a witch, obviously) "I need to pass the Chem test on Friday and make sure that I get a good present for so-and-so because she got me something really nice." Modeling, acting, touring movie sets - all those had only ever been a figment of her imagination. "Ride? A horse?" the fifth year asked, slightly surprised. That was a completely random question. . . Unless of course, it had something to do with this trip that they were going to go on - in which case then OH dear MERLIN, he was taking her riding!! "Yes, I can... Not very well, mind you. I'll probably be a little rusty," she confessed. Given the fact that the last time she had been on a horse was when she was eight, then rusty is the biggest understatement of the year. But the muggles always said that riding a horse was like learning to ride a bike - once you know, it can't be forgotten. "That's terrible... I wouldn't be able to do that to anyone Reid - not even if it meant me not having to work another day in my life. See, that's the thing; I want to work. To raise my own money, to struggle for a bit before I'm settled. Having money from before deprives me of that," she tried to explain, having talked about this subject to great lengths with Jake. Of course, HE had supported her in this - he left his whole inheritance to become a wizard, something which never kept him awake at night nor bothered him in the slightest.
He might not really know it - and Rachel will NEVER tell - but when she was older, the sixteen year old wanted to be like him. In his light manner, his sarcastic comments, his kindness and his courage she could see someone who was overall really happy with his life - and he knows it too. There's no better way to live, in her opinion.
Blinking, she returned back to earth and left her thoughts in the back of her mind just as Reid asked about her cat. "Cloudsters? Well, probably whenever you come visit me in Hogsmeade... He's there - I had to leave him at home this term since he had been sick and plus he really got attached to my uncle's dog, Russ," Rachel replied with a slight giggle. Those two animals were quite a pair - especially when they were hyper.
The fifth year laughed as he told her of his attempts to set up the tent. "Well, I'm not much good either. The only reason I actually came close to the campfire was to look for someone who could help me set up," she replied with a grin, remembering her frustration over not being able to set up the tent by herself. She detested having to ask for help, especially in manual things - in her mind it gave guys a right to consider themselves stronger.
"But wait - when you say setting up a bed... Isn't your tent a magical one? You know, the type with a kitchen, a sitting room and some bunk beds?" she asked, slightly confused. Of course, she'd never seen what expensive tents look like from inside so she couldn't really know if they needed setting up. Or maybe he had to set up something for Neko since cats weren't the usual inhabitants of tents.

Or maybe he had to set up something for Neko since cats weren't the usual inhabitants of tents. "Not life altering really, not when I think back on it. I was already in modelling at the time so I would have grown up in that kind of industry anyway. But it helped me to get a better understanding of what true people are really like and to get me away from my parents more. I guess that it has helped shape me into the person I am today though." he replied shrugging, wondering what it would have been like to just be a normal kid. "What was school like for you? When you were younger I mean, before Hogwarts?"
"Horse riding. I own an Arabian and a Palamino. I thought that if you knew how to ride we could go riding on my birthday or something and if you didn't I could maybe have taught you." Reid wrapped his arm around her more, drawing her in as she began to shiver. "That is if you want to go."
"I know that you wouldn't. That's partly why I like you." Reid replied honestly, smiling at her when she began to describe her reasoning of why she'd never do it.
"It looks like a magical tent doesn't it? Well it isn't actually, it's just a really, really expensive muggle one that's normally used when people go camping in Antarctica. Normally I go camping with my friends and we go to escape all the expectations and luxuries that we normally have. A magical tent would kind of destroy that wouldn't it?" Reid asked her. He knew it was kind of strange for someone who could obviously afford a wizarding tent to not have one but honestly he preferred things to be muggle where they could be. It meant that he could integrate into their society better when he was out with muggles, on the red carpet or filming a movie or photo shoot. Plus some of their ideas were really ingenious.

It meant that he could integrate into their society better when he was out with muggles, on the red carpet or filming a movie or photo shoot. Plus some of their ideas were really ingenious. "Before Hogwarts, I daresay my life wasn't so different from yours. My family is very highly regarded in the muggle world - at least by the people who know them. The Riders aren't famous, but the name often comes up in conversation when talking about prominent families. We're all clever, all relatively ok looking and have enough money to last us a couple lifetimes..." Rachel replied, remembering her times back in the Rider household. It seemed like another lifetime. . . Another her. Technically it WAS another her, but that thought made her feel weird.
"I guess you could say that they are the pure-bloods of the muggle world. Ever since I was born, it's been expected of me to continue the tradition, just like they expected it from my uncle. They got a nasty shock when they realised that I was magic too," she continued, a small smile coming to her lips at the thought. A few years ago any mention of this subject would have reduced her to tears but so much time had passed since then, she could barely work up any sadness at all. "In school it was no different. I was in all the accelerated classes, striving always to be better, to get higher grades - to be more successful than my parents. But all my achievements, all the honors I got; all credit was given to the Riders - never Rachel Rider. Nothing was ever mine... It was the family's." A small sense of resentment crept into her voice as she talked and her eyes darkened slightly. It wasn't that her life had been miserable - far from it, in fact - but looking back on it now, she really and truly saw that she had never been exactly happy either. From the moment that she could start achieving things, her family lost all affection for her as a daughter and rather saw her as yet another member of the family who will bring pride to the family name.
CHANGE OF SUBJECT! "You have a palomino? I've ALWAYS wanted to ride one - they're adorable!" she said quickly, grinning from ear to ear at the thought. "Of course I'll want to - riding with you off into the sun; nothing sounds better!" the sixteen year old said happily, and rested her head on his shoulder. Riding with Reid in America... Of course she'll ride with him - her ancestors were riders, hence the name! If she couldn't ride, who could? "I can understand that. Sometimes I really do think wizards get the easy way out... I haven't been in a normal tent for years!" Rachel exclaimed, trying to remember the last time she went camping. Oh, no, wait. TECHNICALLY, the last time she had been in a tent, she was in the house. In her bedroom. They had just returned from a camping trip and eight-year-old Rachel had refused to go back to sleeping in a normal bed, in a normal room so her Grandpa - tired of her excessive objections, put up the tent in her room (to this day she still doesn't know how he did it) and she had happily crawled in their and slept for about twelve hours.

The term was almost over and Marcus Lawson, definitely needed a holiday. He'd almost drowned saving house elves and students from the floods and was contaminated by the water, then he saved the groundskeeper from drowning and then to top it off he was stabbed in the shoulder with a Trident of all things.
With his hands shoved deep in pockets, he strolled down to the camp out and paused as he let his eyes scan the crowd of students. It was at that moment he heard the unmistakable voice of Jacob Upstead. "I certainly hope not Jake. Because if you die then who am I going to jam with?" He gave the young Huffie a gentle pat on the back and threw the girl he was talking to a warm smile. Oh it was very tempting to ask Jake, if this was his girlfriend but he decided to keep his foot out of his mouth just this one time. "Looking forward to the holidays Jake?"

Allowing himself a tiny smile at the oh-so-familiar voice coming from somewhere behind him, Jake turned his head and looked up at Professor Lawson. "Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to that, I hope you know. I'm totally bringing a guitar next year. I want one for my birthday. I'l be thirteen at the end of August," Jake announced proudly, unable to stop himself from making the childish gesture of sticking his chest out in pride.
Missing the smile Lawson gave Wesley (as he was mid-twitch), Jake pulled an apple out of his pocket and started carving slices off of it, sticking one in his mouth.
Holidays?
"Heck yes," Jake nodded, looking back up at Lawson. "It's been a lonnnggggggg year..." he added, staring off into space for a few seconds. "Sit down," Jake smiled, still sounding pretty absent.

Daniel was done with the bonfire, so he walks around aimlessly. He was out of his league today and then memories keep coming in and out of his head.
He rally miss his parents and he wanted to cry and shout but he is ashamed that everybody would hear.
He continued to walk until he is at the farthest part of the camp site.

Marcus raised an eyebrow at Jake and then let out a small laugh. "Well I do now." He eyed Jake a little closer and this had to be the first time that he had seen him something close to happy. "Oh thirteen eh? That's pretty special. You know becoming a teenager and all." Probably best not tell Jake, the things he had gotten up to when he had been a teenager. Yes some things were definitely best left unsaid.
He flopped down beside Jake and nodded in agreement. "You're telling me. I can't wait to get away for a while and don't think I have forgotten my promise to you either." Marcus, was looking forward to a holiday but he was actually also looking forward to taking Jake to the beach with him.

"I soooooooooo can't wait for that," Jake nodded frantically, eyes sparkling as he grinned, before saying something so childish even he was surprised that it had come from his own mouth. "I been real good and everything. Well, I think so. But, like, I don't think I slipped up much. I been good."
Well... there was that one time in Professor Morgan's hut... but come ON... he was allowed to be a brat every now and then.

"Funny that my dad said the same thing. Actually he still says I act like a child even after all the things I have done." But then his dad worked at the Ministry, so what did you expect from someone like that? "You seem to be in a good mood...it's good to see."
Marcus pulled a few blades of grass out of the ground and ran them through his fingers. "Well that's good to hear Jake. Doesn't hurt to be good every now and then does it?" He threw the pieces of grass at Jake's head and laughed. "I told my brother we were coming to visit, he's looking forward to meeting you."

"I like acting like a little kid," Jake stated, munching on some apple after sticking it in the fire. "It's fun. And it's... just me. I don't like pretending to be someone I'm not. Pfft."
Good mood? Well yeah, he was... considering... "I think it's because I told my girlfriend that I didn't want to be in a relationship, because I don't understand them. I wanted to say it for ages, but I feel better now I did..." he explained, before turning and showing Lawson the side of his face. "She slapped me. Hard."
Girls were confusing.
Flinching and wildly flailing his arms in exaggerated movements, Jake gigged at the grass attack. "Hey, meanie," he said in mock indignation, folding his arms and making a playful pout, before smiling again and nodding. "I can't wait to seeeeeeeeee hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim."

"I think everyone likes to do that...be someone they're not. When I was on stage I was a totally different person to the one you see now." Yeah he was a total egomaniac when he was on stage.
Marcus looked over to the girl that Jake had been speaking with and he raised his eyebrows and inclined his head towards her as if to say 'is that her?' Looking at Jake's face, he burst out laughing. "That's females for you. I've lost count at the amount of times I have been slapped" he chuckled softly and then leaned over closer to the young boy. "Don't even bother trying to work them out, just agree with everything they say and you can't go wrong."
"Yeah I told him all about you and do you want to know what he said?" Marcus looked at Jake and smirked and then continued before Jake could answer. "He said that you sound exactly like me when I was your age. Personally I don't see it. I'm way better looking" he ruffled Jake's hair playfully before bursting into laughter again.

A whole range of insults and the like raged inside Jake's mind at Lawson's statement about being different, all in good fun, mind you, but Jake decided to keep his mouth shut to that one. He never knew how people would react.
Following Lawson's gaze to Wesley, Jake shook his head. "You'd know her. Dani. In Ravenclaw... and she was leaving anyway, and she didn't tell me 'til just after she slapped me... and..." he leaned in like Lawson had done. "What if I don't agree with them?"
...
...
...
"Better looking? No way dude," Jake said, one eyebrow raised. "You wish you had my youthful face... and my pink hair," he added as the man ruffed said hair.

"Ah yes Dani. I remember her. Took her to the hospital wing when she hit her head on the door in my office" he paused a moment as he remembered the incident. "She called me dad. Kinda freaked me out a little. I mean do I look like the father type to you?" Marcus shook his head slightly. He could barely look after himself half the time let alone a child.
Marcus snickered and kept his voice low. "Doesn't matter, if you wish to keep the peace just agree." And he would know because he had done a lot of agreeing in his time.
"Not too sure about the hair kid. I suppose it could cover up some of the grey hair that you students have given me this year." And boy had they ever given him grey hair. Of course the whole flooding thing hadn't helped either.

Opening his eyes to hopefully finding the common room, to Lukus dismay he found himself in a wood slightly worried at the fact his apparition wasn't up to scratch he started to walk through the wood.
After walking from a while he suddenly heard laugher, walking towards the source he saw that it was a group of students and the grounds keeper. Lukus had never really liked the grounds keeper something about him didn't make Lukus feel quite right.
Keeping out of sight he sat and watched the group have their little camp out session. He thought it was quite nice, Lukus had always wondered what it would be like to have a "gang" of friends, but he always knew he would never have that due to his "condition".
