Suddenly, as the water began to rise higher, two mermen holding long, pointy tridents appeared. One of them spoke in a high pitched, shrieky voice which could be heard by everyone who was inside the school -

"Well," Diane started overhearing a nearby conversation and watching her now wet shoes, "it seems you will have a chance at hearing underwater alright."

Diane started to retreat her steps as more of the water leaked in, holding protectively the Potions Journal under her arms. She was backing away up the stairs now. She had no intention of going through that a third time. It was then she saw two, in her opinion, enourmous figures passing through the water. The sight of the big, greenish skined creature scared her for life.

She hardly thought about inscribing down the words this time - the words ran once and over again in her head instinctively trying to memorize it - couldn't be sure she got that first word right. But knowing there had been people down there last time she saw, her attention remained fixed on the creatures -- without thinking, she removed a shoe from hers and threw it... hopefully, in its path... and not his head.

Hopefully, it would give the theoretical some one time to run to safety before Diane was to run herself. Morgana be cursed, hopefully the foolish diversion of hers would have some merit.

His shoes were now soaking wet and to his dismay he knew what was coming next. The second floor corridor in a matter of minutes was about to be under water and there was nothing he or any of the students could do about. Without even realizing it, his legs were moving cautiously backwards and his eyes were wide with terror as he caught sight of two Mermen positioned in the water with tridents. He couldn't blink. With his legs moving hastily through the puddle of water, taking massive steps backwards and keeping the two intruders in his sight, he dropped his Arithmancy text book and dropped his arms to his side franticly feeling for his wand.

"Woah," he yelled watching a girl's shoe fly past his head and towards the two Mermaids. If at all possible, his eyes widened a inch more and now he was running. He glanced over his shoulder once just making sure that the two sea urchins weren't on his prowl yet and turned his focus back towards his destination. His feet kicking through the puddles and his robe constantly getting splashed as he ran down the last corridor and up two flight of stairs. Cordova was no where near a hero. For sure not a coward, but the other three students would have to find their own means of getting to safety.

"Professor," he yelled running down the third floor corridor hoping to get to the nearest office possible.

It was time. The Merman swam silently through the water and up to the second floor. He spoke in his loud screechy voice so that it was heard throughout the castle.

Oh yes, fear for your ears, the merwomen, carrying tridents soon joined the fun. All stealth and silence until they reached their destination, they didn't remain that way for long.

Looking around at her compatriots excitedly, the most fishy? of them screeched deafeningly, surely no one for miles hadn't heard.

This can't be good. Merpeople swimming around on the 2nd floor corridor. Duhh, Jule. Of course this isn't good!

"Looks like the lake isn't enough for them" she said and kept wondering if they were the ones who were flooding the school.

Sarah who been looking for someone suddenly realised that there were now Merpeople on the second floor corridor, she looked around and saw a few other people on the floor. "I think we should go and find a professor." She wondered if a Professor would believe her when she told them what was going on.

A pack of grindylows appeared our of nowhere. Most went to be petted by the merpeople... but one went all GRABBYHANDS on the ravenclaw girl (Juliette [Jule] Sinclair) and tried to bite at the child's leg.

NOMNOMNOM!!!

Thomas entered the second floor corridor because he heard something moving inside. As he entered he felt water covering his feat, he looked down and saw water. He looked forward he Juliette looking at something moving in the water.

"what the-!?" Jule looked down as a grindylow tried biting her leg.

"Ugh! Get away from me you ugly creature!" she yelled and began to move away. What did she do to make the grindylow bite her?

Marcus ran into the second floor and immediately found himself submerged in water. Crap. He could see the Merpeople swimming around and he groaned when he spotted a couple of kids there also. He flicked his wrist and his wand slid into his hand. "Get your wands out" he yelled to the students. He swept this wand upward towards the third floor and a large silvery Chimaera burst out and run up to the floor above.

What good little pets Grindylows make.

The Merwomen screeched happily, not really so much saying anything as expressing the general opinion that the little witch made an excellent snack for their little pet.

No fun! Adults!

They don't taste as good!

Thomas was scared he didn't know spells that would make these creatures go away. He took out his wand not moving his legs.

Jule took out her wand as instructed but the grindylows wouldn't keave her alone.

"Go away!" she told them as she kept backing away from them. Wow, they really were some ugly creatures.

OH NO!!! Not away! OMNOMS!!

The grindylow tried attacking the girl again, while other grindylows went for the other students grabbing at them!

"I can't see the mere people but tell me were they are so we can stun them,"said Thomas trying to find the creatures. He was terrified he hoped that he remembered all the spells from his training. Suddenly a grindylow or two grabbed his legs he pointed his wand at one of them and shouted, "Stupyfy."

"What's going on down here!?" Clifford yelled, running to what seemed like utter chaos, whipping his wand out as he did. Water. Lots of water.. and - and GRINDYLOWS? Oh gawd, not good. NOT GOOD!

He should've stayed in bed! EEEEEK!

Jule kept backing away until she hit a wall. Uh oh. Not good.

"Ugh, what was a good stun spell?!" she said and tried to remember any spell at the moment. But sadly, she was scared to remember any at the moment.

Cordova ran back down the stairs following shortly behind Professor Lawson with his wand was out and ready. He stayed a steady distance away from the Mermen and at a safe enough distance to help but not be harmed.

"Relashio," he flicked his wand at the Grindylow holding onto the young Ravenclaw's leg. The Grindylow was sent backward releasing her leg and the girl was free from the time being. He yelled "Stupefy," at the Grindylow that aimed for him and his spell barely hit in time as it fell towards the floor.

Dani came running into the Second Floor Corridor ready to fight. She looked to Professor Lawson for direction. She didn't know if he had a plan or not. The merpeople were a lot freakier than she had imagined. Her wand out in front of her, she took up a defensive stance and watched for any sudden movements. Suddenly she remembered their first DADA lesson. The suits of armor. She took a mental note, you never knew when you'd need a distraction.

Thomas saw that the grindylow still didn't let go of his leg and there was another one swimming towards him. He aimed at the other grindilow and said, "Rictusempra."

Turning the corridor at a bit of a run was a bad idea for Anastasia. She hadn't been expecting THATMUCHWATER?! already?!

"Eeep I'm here!" the redhead screeched a little as she sloshed to a stop by Lawson. "EEEEK GRINDYLOWS!" Nasty, filthy things trying to bite the children! "What spell repels them, Marcus? I don't remember!" She tossed her wand from one hand to the other and tried not to think of how wet her Jimmy Choos were getting right now.

Sarah looked around, "Go away." She shouted to the Merpeople. "We haven't done anything to you." She was scared and was glad when a Professor showed up, she quickly took out her wand, well if that didn't work she could always do other things.

He needed to be BRAVE.. and forget the vital fact that he couldn't swim. Right. Clifford spotted a small kid being harrassed by a group of grindylows and sent a well aimed DIFFINDO in their direction. GAH! What was happening!? Merpeople belonged in the lake not in the bloody corridors!

Marcus made his way over to the kids who were trying to get the Grindylow off. He pointed his wand at the creature's fingers that were holding onto one of the kids. "Relashio" he yelled as he yanked the kid by the robes and pulled him away. "Make your way to Gargoyle entrance" he ordered.
