Cope was obviously the one who would have to move, so he waded forward and grasped hands with her so that his hand was wrapped around her upper hand and wrist. "Just hold on to me, Greingoth. Figures the grindything would go for the littlest one in the whole school." He hoped the banter would keep her from panicking.

Fishing around with one foot, Copernicus stubbed it against something bony by Anna's feet. He stomped firmly down on the hand or arm of the grindylow to keep it from dragging Anna any further.

Robert, slightly irritated with himself for slipping his grip and not pulling Anna up, went back to help, watching as a sixth year helped. Wrapping his arms around Anna as well he looked at the boy and nodded, "On three alright? One....two....three!" He pulled with all his strength pulling her from the water. Where were the bloody professors when you needed them?!

Out of fear, Anna let out a little sob, but she continued to hold onto Cope's finger. She hoped she wasn't hurting him, but...she really couldn't help it right now, could she? She relaxed a teeny, tiny bit when she felt Cope grasp her upper hand and wrist. She nodded when he said to hold on to her...of course she'd do that. She'd never let go at a time like this. She laughed just a little when he playfully poked fun at her for being so little. "Thanks, Cope. I...I need that," she said, flashing him a tiny smile.

Anna turned to Rob, flashing him the tiny smile, too, then braced herself for the pull. "Okay, okay, I'm ready. It only has my robes...," she said, letting out another little tiny sob. She shut her eyes and listened while Rob counted to three. In her mind, she counted with him, but she was a little too nervous to do anything out loud right now. On three, she felt her body tug up a little...was she really coming up? Ohhh, please let it be!

The water was at chest level and rising faster now...

"Three!" Copernicus lifted Anna with the other boy, his foot still on the grindylow. She snagged and caught on something, and Copernicus shoved his wand beneath the rising cold water.

"Diffindo!" He shot the severing charm at the grindylow and resumed pulling.

William now sat up and watched with wide eyes as Anna had a run-in. If he wasn't so weak from the cold, injured, sore and upset he'd totally help, he really would. Instead all he could do was watch and begin crying again as he heard Anna give a small sob, shivering in the water as it rose higher. "Yo...you can ...do... do it Cope..." he said shifting his position to look out over the table his eyes wide.

At 5'4" Sadie was too short to withstand the water long. Only a few more moments and she would be forced to start swimming. She struggled to stand on top of the table. Then she yelled to anyone who would listen, "We've got to get out of here! We've got to get to the first floor!"

Anna suddenly had the feeling that she rising higher and higher, and even though her eyes were clamped shut, she just knew that she had been pulled free. At the sound of Cope's diffindo, Anna's eyes flashed open, and she wrapped her arms tightly around Cope. She cried just a little more as she hugged him, a little frightened to let go just yet. "Thank you, Cope! ...and Rob, thank you, Rob!" she said, dashing over to give him a hug, as well.

The Ravenclaw girl who spoke up and said they needed to get a move on was right, though. Anna nodded, agreeing with what she was saying. "Yeah, we do need to go. I...I'm just a little nervous to get back into the water, as I'm sure you all are. We have to go, though...yeah," she said. Her eyes flickered to the Gryffindor table, and she saw little Cy still standing there. She'd promised she'd help him out, and she'd stick by that promise no matter what.

"Cy! Cy! Come on! Let's go!" she called out, motioning for him to swim in her direction and meet her halfway. He hadn't wanted to get his robes dirty, but at this point, that was slightly inevitable. She turned to the others at the table, then nodded towards the water. "Shall we?" she asked. "If we stick around much longer, I'm afraid we won't be so lucky."

Sadie nodded. "We need to go now." She looked around for stragglers. "We seem to be amongst the oldest here, Anna. We have to make sure we get them all out." She looked at the girl but Sadie was sure that Anna already knew this, as Head Girl.

Sadie turned to the crying boy on the table. "Can you swim? Will you be able to make it out?"

William nodded as the girl, then Anna said they needed to get out of there fast. Being only 5'2 the water was pretty high for him and he was too scared to leave the safety of the tale which was basically gone anyway. His book bag was no where to be seen and he began sniffling a bit more as he slid off the table floating in the cold water. Turning to the girl who had said they should leave he nodded, "Yea...yeah I ...I can...swim." he said as he tried in vain to keep his wand safe.

Wading towards the door, William looked back, a sob escaping his mouth as he stopped and felt himself float. His feet barely even touched the floor anymore. He couldn't even comprehend that his cake was gone but now his stuff too; his mother would be furious with him, even if it wasn't his fault. "I hate being short." he muttered as he waited for the others. He wasn't leaving them behind, not when they had helped him.

Sadie sighed a sigh of relief as the young boy began swimming. She looked towards Anna to make sure she was coming, then climbed into the water which was now over her head. She began to swim. Despite the situation, she couldn't help but laugh as she heard the boy mutter something about hating to be short. Boy could she relate.

The water was getting WAY high now, and the little first year (who was standing on a bench) was started to get wet even though he was on elevated ground. Cold water, Cy grimaced slightly and crossed his arms. Where was Anna when you needed her (for once).

OH! There she was! “AY! It’s Masta’ Andrus.” He said with a smug grin amidst all the chaos, but, he shrugged it off. He wanted to get out of this Great Hall once and for all. The Aussie did a cannonball into the water off the table and found that when he tried to stand on the hard floor only the very top of his head could be seen.

Other than that, he was completely submerged.

Panicking JUST a little bit, he swam over to the Head Girl at an alarmingly fast rate. Once there, he clung onto her robe to pull himself up and he coughed out some water.

“Let’s get outta’ here mate.” He said, eyeing the rising water. And kids, getting, ATTACKED!

"Get on my back, Andrus," Copernicus offered generously. He was taller for his age, although not really tall, but he seemed to be surrounded by the young and petite. "Or I can levitate you each to the door, although that will take a while. If not, then we need to hustle before the grindylows figure out how to climb."

Cy’s wet self looked to Copernicus, nodding methodically. MUCH better him than Anna, she’d probably drop him and let him drown on purpose; well, that’s what Cy figured. Jumping on his back, the Aussie uttered a laugh. “No way! No time to lose mate!” Levitation? Cy couldn’t even levitate a paperclip yet…

But uh, he did say grindylows right? Cy’d seen one of thse before, the kid had been around the block a few times. “You REALLY think they’ll do that?” He said in horror, and looked at the water from his now higher elevation.

"I think they're smart and hungry, and you look like snack food," Copernicus wrapped his arms around Cy's legs and hurried down the length of the table. Hopefully Anna and the other girl would be able to follow. He'd check for them once Cy was deposited safely.

Kneeling on the table, Elizabeth just wished the water would vanish, grindylows and everything. She'd shot off a couple spells into the water when she was shadows through the murkiness, getting momentarily distracted as Copernicus appeared and another rescue attempt occurred related to Anna. Cursorily keeping an eye on that, as Robert tried again to get Anna away from the particularly tenacious demon that was holding her with Cope's help, she tried to keep an eye on the water around everyone. But being cold, wet and scared wasn't helping her focus any. At least it looked like her charm over her bag was still working.

As the water reached the edge of the table, she grabbed her things before they could start to float away, slinging the bag strap crosswise over her shoulders. Abandoning the sodden robes she'd taken off earlier, watching as they floated off with everything else that had been left behind as people evacuated, she then stood up. William had swam off, along with the other Ravie girl, and Cope and Anna were helping a little Huffie firstie. But she still had to get out. After one more idle contemplation of climbing on Robert's back, she gave up. It was inevitable they were both getting wet again, and standing on the table like she was, she was actually taller than him for once. Jumping ship, she dove into the water, praying that the charm on her bag held as well as the clasp, gasping as she got completely doused again and then quickly getting over to Robert. "Time to head upstairs?," she asked, flicking wet hair out of her eyes again before she glanced at the doorway out. Please don't let me get attacked by anything that might be in the water with me, she thought.

Seeing that everyone seemed to be accounted for and heading out, Sadie swam quickly towards the doors of the Great Hall. She kept an eye for grindylows, but none seemed to be in her area. After what felt like an eternity she reached the doors.

Trying to avoid the Grindylows Toshi tried to get to the doors quickly to leave the hall.
What the hell was going on here?
He had never in his time at Hogwarts experienced such a weird thing. Where did all the water come from? And the Grindylows? Did Peeves do all this as a joke? And weren`t the teachers able to do something?
Looking around if there were monsters around trying to attack him or one of the other students, he lifted his wand and tried to get out quickly.

The water had risen to under the children's chins, and still it was rising, though it was not spilling out of the open windows.

Anna had to fight the urge to roll her eyes at Cy's mention of the name 'Master Andrus'. Surely he wasn't focusing on her punishment at a time like this? Psh...first years. "Just come on, Cy! The water's going to have time to rise again if we don't hurry," she called out, the expression on her face practically begging him to get a move on. She sort of halfway giggled when Cope told him he looked like snack food. She'd needed to hear a good joke at a time like this. She watched as Cy climbed aboard Cope and the two took off. She turned back to those still remaining and motioned for them to follow. "Let's go! We have to hurry!" she called out, spitting out the bits of water that got into her mouth. Eww.

Just then, the water shifted, and it rose up to her chin. A fresh wave of panic shot through her body, and without thinking any further, she canon-balled (Cy-style) off the table and splashed into the water. A tiny thought of a possible approaching grindylow formed in the back of her mind, but she shoved it out so she could focus on doing whatever it took to get out of there. She swam faster and faster, moving with all her might, until she was out of the Great Hall and into the Entrance Hall.

Anna was out the door, and Copernicus followed her moments later with Cy still clinging to his back. The place was miserable and cold, and he was glad to be leaving the apparent new home-of-the-grindylows.

The water rose high now pushing all humans out of the great hall and into the entrance hall, as the great hall filled to the ceiling with water, where it again, stopped its ascent.

As Arethusa said, the water was drained out, the injuries healed, and everything was restored to normal.

Bonnie sleepily peeped her head around the entrance to the Great Hall, wondering what all the commotion had been about, where she was surprised to see a fair amount of normality in the usually frantic hall: was she dreaming?! As she walked towards the long house table, she could smell the fresh scent of Lavender on her jumper, which, with a hint of sadness in her sigh, reminded her of home.

Laura wandered into the Great Hall, glad to see it restored to its usual greatness. She smiled as she wandered to the Ravenclaw table and took a seat, noticing that there was only one other person there.
