Quarantine Ward - OFF LIMITS Oh you poor dear. You are very very sick, and for the protection of you and the other students, you have to be confined to this room. Healer Avalon will look in on you when she can, and she will undoubtedly have to do a few tests and ask you lots of questions, but you need to be patient while she figures out what’s the matter with you. You’ll probably have to give up your robes in favour of hospital gowns. There is no dignity while you’re sick. And you’ll just have to live with it. OOC: Just keep in mind- If your character dies in the RP, you will be moved into the "Dead Student" usergroup for the rest of the term and placed back into your house for the next term when you can begin again with a new student. Your old character can never be resurrected. JKR said it: no spell can reawaken the dead. So if you chose to let your character die in Quarantine, you have to live with it for the term. None - Quarantine is Closed |
Victoria walked into the quarantine ward, she waited for the healer to see her. |

She wore gloves as she handed Victoria a hospital gown and a pair of pink bunny slippers like she had conjured for Clifford. "I'm sorry, but you'l have to change into this, I need to check your clothes and make sure there isn't anything that made you sick on or in them," she said, "Please change into the hospital gown and I'll be back soon for your clothes." Without saying anything else, she left the room. The Quarantine Ward always made her a bit nervous. |
Victoria nodded to the healer, she watched the healer walk out of the room and started to change into the robes and put on the bunny slippers. |
Caroline returned some time later, making sure she was changed, and collected Victoria's clothing. "So, Victoria, the first and most obvious question I should ask before I test your clothing, is have you been doing anything out of the ordinary?" she said. Obvious question, but very important. |
"No miss, I have just being in my lessons, in the common room or by the lake" she looked round the room with its white walls. |
As far as Caroline was concerned, the lake was a place to be avoided at all times. But she didn't understand how it could cause vomiting. Nor would any lessons or the Ravenclaw Common Room. Unless you count some of the stomach turning behaviour she used to see in her day. Juno Novak and his exploding marshmallows. Actually, that was kind of cool. "Well Victoria, if it wasn't something environmental, it could have been a curse," she said. "Did you get in the way of a bad spell?" |
"Not that I know of miss!" She couldn't remember anyone shouting or whispering a curse at her. |
Caroline pressed her lips together. What else could it be... she wondered, well many things, "Have you eaten something you've never tried before? Or similarly, drank something?" she asked. |
"No, I have been eating and drinking the same things". She had red rashes on her arms that she hadn't noticed before, no she can't have...but maybe! |

"Well that's not much fun," she announced. "But the good news is each new symptom helps me diagnose you. Professor Vindictus told me you're Muggleborn, so it's going to take me some time, but I'll have to acquire your medical records up to this point." It's always more complicated with children who have yet to have any magical treatment. But the Ministry had gotten the aquistion process down to a pretty good system. It would only take her a few hours. "Meanwhile, I'm going to treat your rash with a paste," she said, pulling a large jar of a stinky black paste out of her ever-present healing bag. Her hands protected by elbow-length magical gloves, Cari applied the putrid black paste to Victoria's arms and lower legs, "Sorry for the smell, but it should keep your rash from spreading until I get back with some more information." Caroline vanished the paste from her gloves and placed the jar of black paste back into her bag. "I'll be back soon," she promised, collecting her patient's discarded (possibly contaminated) robes and leaving the room and locking Victoria in. |
She smiled and then wrinkled her nose at the smell of the paste. It smelt like rotting fish and then she watched the healer work out of the room, it was really missing her friends. |

"I am so sorry to have made you wait alone in here for so long, Victoria, but it isn't easy to get Muggle medical records. But that's not the point," she said. "I tested your clothes for bacteria, spores, any number of contaminents. And I found absolutely nothing," she told her, "so that's the good news. The bad news is you might be the only Muggle child I've ever seen not vaccinated for meningococcal meningitis. Now, magical children are given a potion in their infancy that immunizes them. With certain adaptations, the potion can be used to cure it. I think you might have somehow contracted this form of meningitis." She watched Victoria's expression carefully as she continued. "The first thing I need to do is confirm my diagnosis. I can do that with a simple charm. If I'm right, I'll brew you the potion, and you can go back to your common room by the end of the day." |
"Really as soon as that!" She excited about the fact she will be back in the common room by the end of the day. She felt like she wanted to jump and down right now. |

It was really her fault for telling her so much so quickly. If it wasn't meningitis, which admittedly was weird this day and age, seeing as she SHOULD have been vacinnated for it, then Cari was out of ideas, and Victoria might be in quarantine for much longer. While she waited for Victoria to do as she asked, Cari hoped against hope, as weird as it sounded, that Victoria had meningitis. I have a weird job. |
Victoria nodded and turn her back to the healer "Do you need my bare back?" She wished that her parents had got her vaccinated against it. |

When Victoria had done so, she said a quick, clever little spell that.... Lit up a line down the girl's spine like a Muggle Glowstick. "Positive... Finite Incantem." Cari muttered, ending the charm, and trying not to sound pleased, because that would be inappropriate. "Well that's good, just because now I know what to do for you. Try and be patient while I brew a potion for you. It's relatively uncomplicated, it won't take me that much longer. A few hours." Cari slipped out of the room feeling... relieved? that Victoria had meningitis, however odd it sounded. |
"Thank you miss!" She was pleased that she knew what she wrong with her, she wondered what her friends was up to and was they missing her too. |

She looked at Victoria apologetically."Now this is one of the least enjoyable experiences you might have in your life, my dear, as this is one of the grossest potions that I can make. And if it weren't necessary, I wouldn't make you take it, but meningitis is worse than this potion, and the potion and the meningitis will be over quickly once you take it." She handed the girl the phial. "Go ahead Victoria," she encouraged. |
Victoria took the phial and had to try and stop herself from vomiting, it smells like rotting eggs. She took one sip and started to cough. |
Quote:
Poor child. It really was vile. How they got infants to take something a kin to it, she'd never know.. |
Victoria pinched her nose and thought of her friends, she downed the rest of the potion in one. |

She took the water and drunk it down fast she was excited about seeing her friends, there will be so happy to see her. |
Cari left the room so Victoria was free to change, "You can leave as soon as you're dressed," she said as she went. |
