Come up to the door of Professor Dumont’s office and knock, the professor is usually in and is happy to talk to you about whatever you may have in mind, especially if it involves muggle studies.

As you walk through the door of Professor Dumont’s office, you are struck by the fact that at least part of this room appears not to be that magical at all, but looking rather like an office you might see on muggle television (had you ever had the chance to see muggle television, that is!) The main feature of the room is a very large wood desk with a nice comfortable chair behind it, a purple, cushiony chair. There are a couple chairs in front of the desk, which appears as though it may be oak, both these chairs are a dark green velvet, padded, and appear very comfortable as well. The rug on the floor is a forest green color, imprinted with a variety of flowers in many different colors, it is very relaxing and lovely, one of the prettiest rugs you could ever find. Professor Dumont inherited this rug from his family, it is an heirloom.

On the right hand wall you notice many photos calling to mind muggle entertainers. There are photos of various muggle rock bands from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (it turns out that Professor Dumont loves this type of music). There are pictures of Elvis Presley as well, along with such muggle icons as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and many others.

On.the wall immediately behind the desk are some photos that are obviously personal. There are pictures of a very old castle with high pirouetting towers, this is Castle Dumont, Antonio’s family home. You gather that it is located somewhere in France, and you would be correct. You will also find many of the pictures that move and talk, wizarding pictures, there is a man and a woman in their 50’s, Professor Dumont’s parents. There is a new picture added this year, one which has a special place right over the Professor's desk. This picture is of a very pretty little girl, no more than 2 years old, with curly dark hair and a somewhat familiar look about her. You would be guessing correctly if you guessed that this is a picture of Professor Dumont's daughter, Antonia Michelle, who he has just become reunited with during the term break. But that's a whole other story, one you may or may not be lucky enough to hear (probably not!)

Along the left wall there is a long table which goes the length of the room. On this table are many muggle items to look at and perhaps even play with, including computers, video monitors that might even pick up muggle television (who knows?), video game systems, cell phones, iPods, skateboards, yoyos, Playdough, Legos, various board games, and a huge variety of books on all subjects. Your eyes fall on this table longingly, perhaps you might have the chance to play with some of these items yourself if you are very good some time, you never know!

Antonio saw another boy enter the room with a note. Another boy he wasn't familiar with. Who was the note from?, he wondered, and then realized it was from his wife Bethany. "Hi, there," he said to the newcomer. "I don't believe we've met before. I'm Professor Dumont, Muggle Studies professor. Are you new to Hogwarts this year?" Antonio figured he probably had come from Durmstrang, Beauxbatons or even one of the schools in America, he wasn't certain.

Learning more about heritage and what all those cultures are about, very interesting indeed.

And Professor Dumont was asking her opinion? "I love it! Can we do that? An 'All around the World' class? I can help if you need assistance," Katie said, trying hard not to bounce lightly on her toes or anything else equally silly and little kiddish out of pure excitement. No, she would remember her manners and remain composed,.. hopefully.

"Different flags around the classroom that represent each culture, hmmm, I like that,' Antonio said thoughtfully. An idea for a future lesson was already forming in his head. "Katie, it is amazing how helpful your input has been to me just now," he said honestly. This was the reason he encouraged students to visit him, he loved hearing their ideas as much as he liked being of help to them and assisting them with their problems. It was kind of a mutual thing, and every now and then something truly astounding would develop.

"I find it very rewarding," Antonio said honestly. "I really do enjoy helping young people learn the things they need to get a good education and to become successful in the wizarding world," I really do." And that was certainly the truth. Antonio loved teaching more than anything, except for spending time with his family, of course.

"That's a really good idea!", Antonio said. "Perhaps it could include karaoke, and we come decide the winner, is that what you were thinking?", he asked. "I do have a karaoke machine, and it might be rather interesting. And yes, I've heard about Durmstrang, how cold it is there. I can't blame you for not caring for that."

Gabriella watched with some apprehension how Professor Dumont mended the crack in her calendar. Another familiar face from last summer, Barry, was outside the door. It was probably best this way, best for all concerned that Antonio face what had happened. It was best for all of them. "Come on in, Barry," he said.

"Katie, that's a very nice name," Antonio said. "And yes, the name is Italian. My family is one quarter Italian, one quarter French and one quarter English, you see. My mother's side was English, but my father's side was Italian and French. I rather like the exoticness of it all," he said. His name did sound a bit fancier than Smith or Jones, it was true. He saw that Katie was interested in some of the items he had inside the room. "Feel free to have a look at some of this stuff," he invited. "I don't mind and that's kind of why I have it here, anyway, so the students can enjoy it." Antonio had never minded the students handling his toys and such, it showed they were interested in these things and that was good.

Barry took a seat in the overcrowded office "How are you professer?"

Class will be starting in just a few days, and this term I already have some ideas for learning about different muggle cultures and pastimes, including some things we touched on last term but didn't really dwell on that much because my lessons were so general last year. One of the main things I want to focus on this term is muggle music."

"I'm always happy to be of service," Antonio smiled. "And I hope you find that book useful. You'll probably want to read it carefully and take notes on the things you find particularly important. Do that and I think you'll be fine, and it should answer all your questions. But you can always come to me about anything."

A few minutes after class ended, Satine waited to talk to Professor Dumont. She knocked on his door and waited for him to give her permission to come in.

"Yes, I'm glad you brought that up, Barry," Antonio said. That had been on his mind and he hadn't had a chance to get to it yet. "I was thinking of a dedication in the student garden to their memory, does that sound okay? Or do you have something else in mind?" Antonio would be more than glad for Barry's help, he had been there. He hoped that Ruby would help, as well, it might make things easier for her.

"O, Professor, I loved it...I took dancing in the Muggle world for eight years so I enjoyed getting to use that and in a learning setting." she smiled remembering all the dancing and singing and such during class...coming back to reality she continued, "Professor, do you think it really would be possible to hold a real sock hop in the castle? Reid had recently remembered a conversation he had had that involved a certain Professor Dumont, the Muggle Studies Professor. From what had been mentioned the guy had seemed to be totally awesome and someone to be trusted. Maybe even someone he could tell about the plan he was supposed to be involved in. Sighing slightly he raised his hand and knocked on the door.

"I'm glad you liked it," Antonio said with a smile. "And yes, I know that sometimes there are certain events which are held at the end of term, so a sock hop wouldn't be out of the question. It's a really good idea, and I'll certainly suggest it as a possible end of term event for the future. Thanks for the idea!"

"Yeah I'd guessed that, but I've already been told about you so there really was no guesswork involved." he said as he stepped into the office. It was packed in there. Spotting Ruby Reid smiled at her and said, "Hi, how are you doing?"

Satine smiled, "Thanks Professor and thanks for the fun lesson...my rents were so afraid that I would hate Muggle Studies since I grew up in both worlds because when they were at Hogwarts their Muggle Studies made Muggle life seem so boring compared to the Magical World...I can't wait to send them an owl about your class! Antonio smiled. He truly enjoyed it when his students liked the classes he taught, because that way they would remember them and truly get something out of them.

"That's good," Antonio said. "That's the safest thing to do when you're a new student." Surely, George would become more comfortable around people in time, but for now he felt sure he would be safe. Sarah was young, but seemed very responsible to him. He was in good hands.

"You're from America," Antonio smiled. "You're the second boy I've spoken to this term who's come over from America. Well, welcome to Hogwarts, Reid." He smiled again, happy that Reid and Ruby knew each other. She needed a friend. "How are you finding things at Hogwarts so far?"

"Strange really." he said with a shrug before expanding on his answer. "The people are great, always very welcoming but at the same time I don't feel like I fully fit in here. I've made friends but we aren't on exactly the same page like with my friends back home. Also Hogwarts has a different curriculum to what I'm used too which can make classes slightly hard, yet in other classes I sometimes feel like I'm going over things I learned years ago. Then again it's a new experience and so I suppose it's a positive. I just get homesick occasionally, especially since I was only told I was moving here when summer holidays began." his smile was slightly rueful.

He let out a small whimper and shivered. Seeing the professor look at Sarah, George smiled "Sarah's my cousin" he nodded "She's nice, when she wants to be, but I want to find the others... Sarah, have you seen Alice? Or Bee? Or S?" he asked, wanting to be around his family for at least the first week.
