Potions Class 2: Think Fast! (Ingredients and Process) The room remains mostly unchanged from your previous class. Although still housed in the former ancient runes classroom, the potions classroom still manages to retain its musty, creepy, dungeon atmosphere. Perhaps it is due to the way the flickering candlelight glints off the hundreds of potions jars and containers and vessels. Perhaps it is merely reflecting the somber attitude of the ancient and temperamental Professor Kazimeriz as you enter his domain. The main floor of the classroom is filled with large work tables, each accompanied by two stools. Each seat in the class has a stand suitable for a standard cauldron and a small bunsen burner for a fire source beneath it. The walls of the room are lined with shelves, laden with jars of every shape and size. The entire room is fastidiously neat, and all the jars have been organized according to size and shape. Each have uniform, detailed parchment-coloured labels describing their contents. Most of the jars appear to be filled with innocous liquids or plant materials. However, many of the jars house more insidious ingredients: there is one jar that appears to be filled with bloated pickled toads, another stores fat eyeballs from an unknown mammal, and still others seem to contain the visceral organs of animals - spleens, newt tails, a whole jar filled with tiny black beetle eyes, and wriggling, fat flobberworms. There is one jar that appears to hold some sort of severed hand, suspended in gelatinous fluid as though it is waving to the class. Black marble shelves alone the perimeter of the classroom hold a host of common lab equipment: stills, crucibles, mortars and pestles, an open jar filled with glass and wooden stirring rods, empty phials and corks, knives, evaporating dishes- everything a young potion maker may need is on hand. There is also a fairly large collection of ancient books on potion making at the back of the class. At the front of the class, there is a chalkboard, a lectern, and a large locked cabinet which houses the more dangerous potion-making supplies and brewed potions. There is also a shelf lined with cauldrons that are steaming and bubbling, brewing whatever the professor is working on. A large worktable has been placed at the front of the class; on the left, there is an assortment of bottles and containers of varying sizes and shapes. Clustered to the right is a far larger grouping of bottles, containers, and phials. The Professor is nowhere to be seen. The chalkboard reads simply: Quote:

Daniel saw the announcement and head straight for the Ancient Runes classroom which now houses the Potions Class. He was wearing his blue t-shirt and his denim jeans under his robe. He then recalled: Quote:

Herminny walked into the potions classroom in a loose fitting t-shirt and jeans under her robes with all the ingrediants she needed in her bag. As she made her way to a seat at one of the lab tables she notices the potions master was no where in sight but whatever she thought as she took her saeat thinking Kazmirez would more then likely arive soon. |
Kiri stepped into the dark room with the slight feeling of trepidation she always had in Potions. Professor Kazimeriz was a very able teacher, yes, but he was also, when she was honest, scaring her. The gloomy atmosphere in the room, complete with flickering candle light and slightly acrid smell, did nothing to easy her anxiety. The door gave a creak that was suitable for this environment (or a haunted castle), too. "Hello, Pro...fessor?" Kiri looked around. The old man wasn't there. She wouldn't put it past him to lurk behind the door just to give students a heart attack when they came in, but he wasn't hiding in the shadows, either. She stepped up to a table when she noticed the writing on the blackboard. 'Loose fitting clothing' was required? She glanced down at herself. It would do. The word that was giving her trouble was 'damaging'. Just the sort of thing that Professor Kazimeriz would enjoy - but after nearly drowning twice already (and losing the Slytherin common room), Kiri had almost no clothes left. Running around the castle in ripped robes wasn't anything she was looking forward to. Just be extra careful then, she told herself. |
It was a good thing that the water didn't damage all of Lyra's clothing. She needed a simple outfit that she did not mind having messed up or ruined in any way and this was probably one of her easiest of outfits to pick out. She walked into the classroom wearing her school uniform and old worn down robes as over the next couple of weeks, she would not need to school uniforms ever again. This was her last year as a Hufflepuff and...what better way to gather good use out of a uniform than to have it messed up by potions. At least it would appear that she was doing her work. She walked into the classroom, she held in her possession all the things needed to be in class. She was NOT about to get into trouble with Professor K, especially after their last conversation. She'd gone all this time without detention and...well...she wanted to keep it that way too. |
Clifford had grown to realise how classes were actually a pretty good distraction. Yup, they made him concentrate. Which in turn, meant he didn't have enough room in his brain to think about other ... things. Potions with Kazimeriz would be even more of a bonus, the Head Boy decided as he moved to a desk nearer the back of the classroom. He'd have to be on the ball. Concentration. Right. |
Copernicus entered the classroom and took a seat in the vicinity of the Head Boy. Maybe someone responsible and stuff would keep Cope from taking another bad potion and getting himself in trouble. Maybe. Hopefully. He pulled out his supplies and ingredients list in preparation. |
Aaron lugged his bag into the room. He had to bring EVERYTHING. UGH! He then saw an empty seat and dropped all his things onto it. He then took them all out and organized them on his desk. He really had a knack for Potions. He didn't want to screw it up. He then saw the note on the board. Aaron was perfectly fine ruining these robes. They WERE already flooded through twice. He then looked around to see if any of his friends were there. Especially Fallon. She was helping him with Charms, so he had to help her with Potions. Seeing as she hadn't arrived yet, he sat down and looked over his ingredients. |
Lucy entered the Potions room, a little more confident that she would do well. After the last class, she had been very happy that she had actually done well in potions. She looked around the classroom. It hadn't changed very much at all, well except for the message on the chalkboard. Lucy also noticed that Professor Kazi wasn't nowhere to be seen. Lucy walked over to one of the workstations and sat down on the stool, taking her ingredients list out to study. She wanted to very, very, very good in the class just like last time. |
*shrugs* Celandine bounced into class, stopped and read the instructions on the board and looked down at herself. Um... Her clothes were the opposite of loose fitting. Pout. She dumped her bag on an empty table and turned on her heel to head back to the common room to change. |
Fallon walked into the Potions classroom and didn't see the Professor anywhere. She spotted Aaron and went and sat down next to him. She soon pulled out her book and some parchment so that she would be ready to take notes. Then for an extra measure, she started to look over her ingredients list. Hopefully Aaron will be of some help in this class. She thought to herself. |
He looked over at Fallon. "Hey." He said cheerfully. He then turned back to his list, "A lot of ingredients, huh?" It was crazy. Are they going to learn what each one of these does and how they interact with OTHER ingredients? |
Jack walked into the potions room, still a bit creeped out by the class in general, even in the ancient runes classroom. Still, it was definitely one of the most interesting classes by far, no matter how terrifying Kazi was. So Jack sucked up his fear, acted like a man, and came to class. He was maturing. Taking a seat near the back of the room, he spotted a number of the Gryffindor Quidditch players in there and gave them all a little wave as he sat down. He pulled out his ingredients list and started to review it while we waited for the professor to show. He checked his clothes, too, to make sure they were rather loose fitting--almost everything he owned was, since he wasn't really one to wear tight clothing and show off his near skeletal skinniness. |
The first time Diane entered, she was as inconspicuous as she usually was; which is to say you would not know she was there to begin with, but looking at the notice, she had left shortly after. Her second entrace was more noticeable and only moments later when she returned wearing what could only be described as... Muggle-clothing. Old, ragged second-hand clothing that was several times too big for her and had inscriptions in her shirt that said something she obviously had no idea what it meant. In her current state of clothing, she lingered by the front, looking curiously at the cabinet by the professor's desk. |
Satine walked in and looked at her clothes...luckily someone had caught her on the staircases and let her know to go change clothes into something she wouldn't miss, but she really hated looking soo...sooo...well so sloppy but this was all the she could bare getting ruined...she lugged her supplies in with her and took a seat and quickly read the board wondering where the professor was...she wiped the thought from her head and began getting ready for class. She was honestly a little worried about this class because she had become sooooo lost in the last potions class, but she had studied her ingredients and hoped it would be a better day. She flicked her wand to pull her hair up into a bun and then stowed it away in her under wrist holster. She pulled out her quill and every color ink well and laid extras on the desk beside her in case anyone needed anything. "I have extra quills, ink, and parchment." she announced with a smile and looked around the class for someone she knew. |
Stepping into the classroom William's eyes went right to the board. "Make sure you're wearing..." he muttered, reading it before nodding to himself. If his sweatshirt, and old torn up jeans were good enough he didn't need to go back and change, which was good since he didn't want to climb anymore stairs today. Seriously there were too many stairs in hogwarts, why so many! Trudging over to an empty seat he sat down, crossing his legs over themselves before pulling out his text and opening it up to a random page. It was then he remembered what Kazi had said during the last class and flipped the pages until it was at the ingredients page. Bending over his book, he put his head in his hands and set to work, a look of utter concentration in his light blue eyes. After a few minutes he pulled out his ingredients list from his inner pocket of his robes and began looking it over, missing his bag more than ever. It was just luck he kept parchment and quills in his pockets now. |
Professor Kazimeriz shuffled into the classroom, his dark eyes scanning the class for any who dared to misbehave or fail to follow directions. His face looked pinched and dour; he was limping more than usual, favoring his bad hip and leaning on his silver headed cane as he headed to the front of class. "Turn to Chapter Three of your texts." he commanded as he reached the front of the class. "I presume all of you have been studying as I instructed. Today we are going to be discussing the potion brewing process and the properties of ingredients." The charmed chalkboard erased and wrote upon itself: Quote:
|
Lucy looked up from her list of ingrediants as Professor Kazi entered the gloomy room. She listened and did as he told the class, opening her textbook to chapter three and summoning her potions journel, opening it to a fresh clean page, ready to write down the millions of note that were to come. Detailed notes... She could do that. |
After her potions journal have sat securely in her hands, Selena sat down and pulled out her quill. It's a good thing Quidditch players have to have lightning-fast reflexes, or else they'll get a Bludger in the head or let the other team wins easily. Her right hand was clutching the quill, ready to strike once notes are to be taken. |
Quote:
With that done, she bent down and rummaged through her bag for a moment, coming up some time later with a quill in her hand. With a wave of her wand and an "Accio," she retrieved her journal, as well. Detailed notes. Alright then. That...she could handle. With her quill, she scribbled the topics on the lesson on the top of the journal page she'd turned to. |
Potions was so boring. And Kazimeriz wasn't looking so good. Nodding respectufully at the old, OLD man, Willow followed his instructions and summoned her journal from the professor's desk with a flick of her wand, and then proceed to look for chapter three on her potions text. Done with that, the Ravenclaw brunette started chew nervously on her bottom lip. If Kazimeriz was being and honest to them all, then someone was going to die today, because Willow Kovac had never quite managed to master the art of concentration during this particular class. One thing was for sure, though - it was not HER live the one ending today. Nope. |

Daniel looked at the old man discussing thing. He had laid the book on the table and grabbed his quill from the bag and his wand from his pocket. He then pointed it to the stack of journals on the Professor's table. He then muttered, Accio and his journal came flying gracefully towards where he is. He opened it and write the words, Quote:

Satine was feeling a little bit nervous...but she was good at taking notes...she summoned her journal from his desk and opened her book to the chapter the Professor had mentioned....Here we go she thought....As she waited for the note taking chaos to begin... |
Diane was sitting on her desk, turning the pages to the mentioned chapter. She had come to her desk at the professor's entrance, returned up front to get her journal (did not feel like using summon charms... besides, she did not recognize her journal among the others in the pile with the same ease she recognized ingredients in a shelf.) Chapter three, chapter three... |
