Office: Professor E.M. Forrester A man sits behind the desk, pouring over papers and articles, books are put neatly away, save for the one he is also using. Floating above him is a miniature planetary system that was left as a gift from last term in the observatory. The shelves are filled with books and photos either in space, from space, or of space, and there's a picture of a group of people on a shuttle mission...one looks shockingly like a younger version of the man behind the desk. |
"Wow, that is aloooot of stairs. Maybe I should make this a daily routine...wouldn't have to exercise then." Merry thought to herself, pausing to catch her breath before reading the sign on the door and confirming that she was indeed at the Astronomy office. Meredith raised her hand and knocked on the professor's door. Perhaps he'd be able to answer her question. |
Gwenavere walks up the stairs and says to herself..."My this is a lot of stairs, my legs feel like jelly, I don't think that I've climbed so many stairs at one time before..." Huffing and puffing, she finally gets to the top of the stairs, walks up to the Professor's door, and sees a girl already waiting there. "Hi there, I'm Gwenavere, what's your name?" |
How remarkable, the feast hadn't been over a full two days yet and he already had people lining up at the door. Provided, of course, that there was indeed two different people outside his office door and the first knocker hadn't simply gotten bored. "Come in" he called out, as he looked over a few papers on an idea he had forming in the back of his mind. |

Forrester gave a long blink, recovering from this unexpected turn of events. Then, he realized that this was the woman from the feast he thought he recognized. However, he didn't know anyone by the name of 'Meredith'. Until today, of course. "Hello, Meredith, I'm Edward. What could I help you with?" |
Meredith grinned and shook his hand even though he hadn't offered it to her. "Nice to meet you Edward." She ran a hand through her hair and wondered how to ask the question. "Well my parents have this longstanding tradition of watching the eclipses together. Like, they've never missed one. I usually keep up with when they appear so I can tell them. But since you're the Astronomy professor, I figured you'd be able to give me an answer." She took a breath and resettled herself in the chair. |
Forrester was confused. "How can you keep track of them, but not know when the next several are?" he asked her. In that case, if her parents never have missed one, why did they need the help in the first place? |
"I don't keep up with them several at a time...one happens I usually find out when the next one is. Didn't get the chance to this time because I was moving and getting ready to move and then getting settled in here. It's been rather busy lately." |

Forrester nodded, "I see. You're not from here, then?" he inquired of her. |
"No actually I'm from America. Well more specifically Las Vegas. But you probably don't know where that is, so America." She didn't know why she specified. He might not know where Vegas was. After all she didn't know where everyplace in Europe was. |
Quote:
Vegas? Hmmmmm Forrester slyly gave her a more discerning look. Just....familiar. Maybe he had passed her in the street. "Actually," he told her, "I was in Vegas the summer before last. Assuming, of course, you meant Las Vegas, Nevada?" There COULD have been another 'Vegas' somewhere in America. He didn't know there wasn't. So....maybe there was. |
"Oh you do know it!" That made Merry excited to know that someone else had been there. "Yes the one in Nevada. How did you enjoy it? I've missed it, mainly just all the lights and shows but I'm finding that I'm enjoying it here too." She may have been babbling a little bit and moved to sit on her feet in the chair. |

"I found it rather fun, but quick paced. I spent about a month there before finishing my vacation in Miami. "What did you do in Vegas?" |
"A month? I bet you got to enjoy many of the shows then." She gave a hmmm noise as she thought of all she had done. "Well, let's see. I've been magician's assistant...mannny times. I've done some back up dancing and singing for groups when they needed a fill in spot. I've been in a couple of the plays. Pretty much a little bit of everything. Definitely had alot of fun with it." Merry flipped her hair back behind her shoulders. "My dad has connections with the ministry and heard Hogwarts needed a new nurse all the sudden and of course I had to jump at the chance to come to Europe." |
Quote:
Oh. Right. Her father! He had plum forgot what she had come in for. "I'm sorry to have distracted you, Meredith. You wanted the next eclipses, right?" He opened a drawer and pulled out a list of the next several eclipses and handed it to her. |
Meredith took the paper offered, glanced it over and put it in the back pocket of her skirt. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate this." She gave a grateful grin. "Well some of the magician's weren't half bad....for muggles. A few miiiiight have had a slight bit of help but solely for assisting purposes of course." She winked at him. "Did you see any acts? Maybe I saw you at some? The summer before last you said? Hmmmm it is possible." That would be weird. |

Merry put a hand over her mouth and started to giggle. "Oh that man is funny. I'm glad you enjoyed him. In that case I won't spoil his secrets." She gave Edward a shifty look. "I actually worked for him several shows. He said it was because of how I could work over the crowd. I think part of it was that stupid frilly blue outfit I had to wear." Merry gave an exaggerated roll of her eyes and chuckled. |

Forrester chuckled, "All I want to know is how he can make incompetence look like he meant to do it. Everyone seemed convinced it was all part of the act." He gave her an appraising look, "So you didn't choose that outfit? And here, I thought you chose it to look good." He gave her a smile, he was teasing a little. |
Quote:
Mere laughed when he mentioned the outfit. "It was fun and out of the ones I could have chosen...that was the best one. Granted I've worn goofier costumes so I can't complain actually." |

Forrester shook his head, "I guess I have to admire your for wearing that then. Sacrificing self-respect and all." Just then an owl flew through his window and dropped a letter on his head |
"Self respect has no place in Vegas." She said with a laugh and resituated herself in the chair. Sitting still was not a strong point of hers. When the owl dropped the letter on Edward's head, Mere raised an eyebrow and then stood up. "I guess I should leave you to your mail. Thank you for the eclipse updates!" |

"It was nice to meet you too Edward and I'd like to get together again. You know where to find me." She told him and returned the smile with one of her own and waved to him before heading out of the office and back to the waiting room. |
