Lucy stared at the 'record player'. So it played music back then did it? As the music began to fill the room, Lucy dipped her quill into the ink bottle and began writing on her parchment again.

Lucy set her quill down once again and listened to the music, and soon she began to tap her foot along with the music. So far 'Rock Around the Clock' was probably her favorite. Lucy heard Danielle's question and thought. "That is strange. I mean would someone really want to rock Azkaban?" She asked.

Ooooh she loved these songs! All of them were in her mum's collection,which had been passed down from her gran.
Sarah tried to stop herself but she couldn't help jigging along to 'Rock Around The Clock'...the song was so infectious.Her foot was tapping on the floor and her shoulders were moving from side to side.She was sure to have looked like a right idiot but at that moment she didn't care....
"This is great Professor!"

Dagobert felt a pair of eyes upon him and turned around to see Dem looking and flash a smile at him. He smiled back weakly and gave a her a small wave.
She must think I'm so weird, he thought to himself, but I can't help it, I just don't want to say something stupid again.
A thought then occurred to him.
What if she thinks I'm mad at her, he wondered while twiddling his pen idly, I'll have to clear that up with her after class.
As soon as the professor started speaking, Dagobert became attentive again. When the music started playing, he could not help but tap his feet a long with it and bop his head. He was playing some of his favourites. And for some odd reason, he had this sudden urge to grab Dem and dance with her.

Iris looked at the perculiar instrument- So that's what those muggles played those Elvis songs on! ... Well that cleared EVERYTHING up! ... Iris smiles as she picked up the borrowed quill and began to make notes on what the professor was saying to them.

Anna nodded when the professor instructed them to discuss what they thought about the four records he was playing. When the songs were done, Anna raised her hand. "Well, first of all, 'Rock Around the Clock' and 'Jailhouse Rock' are songs that just encourage us all to get up and dance," she said, glancing behind her and looking at Plymouth Morgan. She fully expected her Ravenclaw friend to get up and cut a rug at any given moment. "They're both full of catchy beats, and the musicians sing about dancing and, well...rocking."

"The other two were sort of sad songs, though. 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' sort of gave the impression that the lady didn't have much hope for her future. Or maybe she was just unsure about it," Anna suggested. "'Peggy Sue' even talked about a man being blue...sad, that is. So perhaps we can conclude that Rock and Roll music was both happy and sad, upbeat and slow, and sometimes it made us just want to dance...or cry, depending on the song."

Unknown phrases swirled past Kiri as the professor handled the strange Muggle machine. Record player... rock and roll... wall of sound... forefathers of rock... The music coming out of the machine sounded tinny and scratchy, but whether that was because of the machine or the extreme age of the songs, Kiri didn't know. Several of her classmates seemed to recognise the songs...

Reese wrote down some stuff on her piece of parchment, then looked up at Professor Dumont when he turned on the music. Hmm. She actually liked the old songs. They weren't bad at all. She started tapping her foot on the ground, just like some people around her were doing.

Clifford wasn't the worlds biggest music fan. He occasionally listened to a but of wizard rock but he'd never heard any of this muggle stuff. And what was that thing Professor Dumont was playing the music on? Ooooh, he was more interested in THAT than the music.

As the professor began to speak again Vanessa began to jot a few notes down onto her parchment, one so she could remember them, and because she would probably want to listen to the songs again.
As the four songs began to play, Vanessa listened to them, nodding her head to the beat. She kind liked the music, especially the song called "Jailhouse rock." It had a kind of good beat to it.

Antonio turned back to the class. "I'm sorry that there have only been three recordings I've been able to present so far. I had to pull one of them due to comments that were included at the end of the song, and even though it's great music, the comments were inappropriate. I'm still searching for more songs for you to listen to at this point."

Ash was excited to hear the song "Rock around the clock, because it was a favorite of her grandmother's, who often sang the song around her house.

Victoria put her hand up "Professor why was it inappropriate?"

Miles squinted a little, as if the music affected his sight. The odd things about these songs, were that they made Miles reaaaaally want to dance. He wasn't gunna, just so you know, but the urge was there. 'Rock around the clock' was a bit short, and he didn't really like it was much. The beat never really changed and it was just ... blaaaah.

Next one was 'Jailhouse Rock', one which Miles had actually heard of before, maybe it was more famous? He didn't know, he was never really interested in muggle music. Although, he did like a bit of Michael Jackson. Hehe. Elvis Presely eh? Well, Miles had certainly heard of him. And like someone had asked, how could you rock a jailhouse? Unless it was a certain dance move. Meh.

'Will you still love me tomorrow' was kinda cool. Any ordinary boy would find it boring or something, but Miles rather liked it, suprisingly. Atleast it didn't make him want to dance, that would be embarrassing. And the last one 'That'll be the day' was actually boooooooooring. It made him want to bash his head against the wall or, more safely, leave the room. But he didn't. Miles sighed in boredom. Where was Michael Jackson?!

Lucy raised her hand. "I like Rock Around the Clock because it just has such a catchy beat." She said, still tapping her foot to the rhythm.

"I like the beat in "jail house rock" Vanessa nodded with smile, as she raised her hand. "I think it's like a hook or motif because it keeps coming back, making me remember it. I also think the lyrics are quite good." She added, yes she liked that song.

Reese raised her hand. "I like Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. I enjoyed the slow tempo and it was just a very interesting song to listen to." She lowered her hand and looked down at her parchment, making sure she wasn't missing anything the Professor had said.

Dagobert put his hand up.
'I'd have to say that I preferred the first two. They were more catchy and had a good beat. They definitely served their purpose as a song you could dance to. I was almost tempted to get up and start dancing myself!' he said with with a grin and a wink in Dem's direction.
'The last song was just too depressing and slow for my taste though she was a good singer.'
After his commentary, Dagobert leaned back and hummed the first tune that was played. It was still stuck in head.

Demetria blushed and looked back down at her paper. She began writing notes, then raised her hand. "I liked Jailhouse rock the best, professor. I loved how upbeat it was and how it had all the different beats in it."

Anna continued to listen to the music playing throughout the classroom. The room was a-rocking with 'Rock Around the Clock' and 'Jailhouse Rock', but it got a bit more calm when 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' began playing. Anna really liked the first two best. They were upbeat and lively, whereas the second one was sort of sad. She raised her hand and said, "I really enjoy the first two, because they're more upbeat and catchy. I noticed that the third song isn't as upbeat and lively, though," she said. She briefly wondered how two totally opposite song types could both be considered 'rock and roll'. Maybe it wasn't necessarily the beat of the music, but more the time period and instruments being played. Hmm...

Satine raised her hand, "Professor, great choice in songs...do you think we could learn how to dance to these songs? My dad used to listen to them and tell me about the sog hops or something like that....i think he called the dancing bug-jitters." she hoped no one laughed at her explanation..."My favorite that he plays is Johnny Cash."

Plymouth raised his hand, after having little jam sessions. "The first two, Professor. The last one... the last one is kind of hitting close to home." Plymouth rubbed his heart (chest). "The first two I could get up and dance to!" Naturally, Plymouth got up to demonstrate some of his moves.

"Professor, my parents met at a Johnny Cash contest" she smiled.

Paris raised her hand. "Sir I like Rock around the Clock." she told him. She hate Elvis as much as she hated the Beatles, Elvis had stolen songs from the R&B charts and rerecording them and sold them as his own. Stealing was stealing and he shouldn't be celebrated like he was original.

She raised her hand again. "Sir did you see the muggle movie that was made about Johnny Cash? There were a lot of songs in the movie that Johnny never released." She told him.

she giggled at Plymouth, she couldn't wait to see him try and hug Emily. This was going to be entertaining.
