Muggle Studies Lesson 1 Antonio walked into the Muggle Studies classroom for the first time, excited to be back in front of the students again after the summer break. The break had been bittersweet, as there had been a tragic loss over the course of it, but there had also been a gain that he had never expected to have back again, since his wife Bethany was now reunited with him once again after having been rescued from death eaters. Just as he had given up all hope of seeing her again, and the miraculous thing was that she was pretty much unchanged. Antonio thought about things that had happened last term. Apparently he and several other professors had actually regressed in their minds to being Hogwarts students age, and he and a couple other professors had actually attended a few classes as students. Incredible as that was to believe, he had a somewhat vague memory of binging at Hogwarts. He wondered if this term was going to be a better one, and he hoped it would be. The Mirror of Erised was gone now, and that was a big relief. "Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Hogwarts. We're going to get started in just a few minutes, so please go ahead and take a seat. And just to explain, we are trying things a little differently this year. I am not going to be giving individual house points, however, I am going to be keeping track of those who do welll in the class and you will have the chance to earn stars, which can become house points at the end. House points have been out of control, and of course you will have the chance to earn maximum points on your homework. We really need to focus on learning rather than making a huge competition for points, and so that's what we are doing this term. Just so all of you know." He smiled. "But there will be various surprises and goodies handed out during this class, as well, so be ready." ooc: Class will be lasting for a few days, so I will be appearing in and out at different times. Don't worry! This also gives people maximum opportunity to show up, and your homework will be posted at the end. Come in and enjoy! |
Class. What a nice distraction from life. Not the best attitude to have when you're trying to earn back house points that other memebers carelessly lost, but Caitlin still felt oddly renewed at the idea of classes starting again. It would give her reason to focus her mind on more important things ... Not that the innerworkings of her life weren't important. Upon reaching her Muggle Studies class, the Hufflepuff stopped to study the pictures that were posted on the door. "Rock and Roll ..?" she mumbled to herself. Wasn't this a class dedicated to the non-magical folk? Why are they going to be studying geology? ... "Rock and Roll ..." She strolled into the room as she was greeted by her professor. It startled her really, and jumping off to one side was a natural reaction. But with a smile on her face, Caitlin nodded an acknowledgement in his direction and took a seat, more towards the front of the class. Not too many students had arrived yet, which was just fine by her. She could gather her thoughts and focus before things got underway. |
Victoria walked into the classroom and saw that she was only the second person to arrive. She found a desk in the middle of the classroom and got out her books, quills, inks and parchment and waited for the class to start. |
megalulz if this is about rock and roll... i did that for a whole year in music xD Ahhhhh memories. Jake looked up at Dumont as he explained the whole points thing, and shrugged. He wasn't all that bothered about not getting loads of points, they weren't exactly everything. BUT... he was still seeeeeeeeething from having his wand confiscated, so he threw himself down in a chair and looked up to the front of the room, slightly disgruntled. "Alright, sir?" he asked. |
Muggle Studies...Anna's second favorite subject, just after Astronomy. Well, to be perfectly honest, Muggle Studies was pretty much right on up there with Astronomy. It was just that Anna had always had a particular interest in the planets, stars, and other celestial bodies. Shaking all thoughts of Astronomy from her head, Anna gently pushed open the door to the classroom and walked inside. Her eyes immediately fell on a poster the professor had pinned to the wall. Whooa. Those people looked ancient. Really ancient...Dumbledore ancient. 1955? 2005? Ancient indeed! "Good morning, Professor Dumont," Anna said, stopping briefly in front of her Head of House in order to listen to what he was saying about house points. Ohh, gold stars. Prettyyy. "Sounds good, sir! Gold stars, here I come! Oh, and please let me know if any Slytherin students need a textbook. I've brought along an extra I somehow managed to have." Anna turned and headed to find a seat, her mind dwelling slightly longer on those 'various surprises and goodies'. Mmm. Candy. As she waited for the lesson to begin, Anna opened her textbook and began to search for any information on those ancient people depicted on the poster. |
"Good morning, Professor." Kiri sat down, listening impassively to the professor's words and nodding at appropriate times. She was staring at the poster that had been put up at the front of the classroom. It was a collage of old and faded photographs showing Muggles - the figures weren't moving, and some of them were handling oddly-looking objects that Kiri remembered were muggle musical instruments. But what was this... Rock'nRoll? Kiri wasn't even sure how to pronounce it. The dates on the poster stated that it was something that was over a hundred years old! The Muggles' hair looked strange, too. Kiri opened her bag and extracted a notebook, the only one she still had left after the Slytherin Common Room had been declared inaccessible, and waited for the lesson to begin. |
Class again. This class'd probably the easiest for her. She was quite into Muggle life but there was still some points she didn't know. She walked into the classroom and halted in front of a picture which caught her full attention. Rock and Roll? Wasn't that music of Muggles? No... that was only "rock". Puzzled with and frowned at the meaning of "Rock and Roll", she took a seat at the front of the classroom. Hadn't noticed the professor, she jumped a little when she heard his voice. She blushed and suddenly remembered she didn't have the book of this lesson. She wanted to talk, but was so shy that she couldn't. Instead, she stayed at her desk and waited for the lesson to start. |
Covering her mouth as she yawned, Willow wandered inside the Muggle Studies classroom, before claiming a seat on the middle of it, and settling herself on it. "Good day, Professor Dummont," greeted the girl with a tone that matched the polite nod she offered the man. And then he was talking about points and how they had gotten out of control last term. Ah, well. She didn't mind that much - as long as Ravenclaw won the house cup at the end of the term, she'd be alright with that. Because they would win, right? They'd better. |
Lyra walked into Muggle Studies and immediate spotted Banana. She hurried over to a seat next to the Head Girl and leaned into her. "We need to talk after class," she mumbled under her breath then sat back up and began taking the necessary things out of her bag for note taking. |
Rachel walked into Muggle Studies, her book bag almost bursting with the amount of books she had in it. She felt a little weird and had taken little peeps at it all the way from the Common Room, almost as if to check it was there. Seeing her favourite seat was not taken, she made a beeline towards it and effortlessly took off the HUGE bag and placed it on her lap as she sat down. Taking out her wand, she ended the feather-light charm she had placed on it and winced as the bag cut into her thighs. Quote:
"Hello Professor. How was your summer?" she asked one of her favourite teachers as she began taking her things out of the heavy bag. A few moments later, and the bag a little lighter, she carefully put it down and turned to face the board, her face morphing into a huge grin as she saw the picture that was situated on it. Rock and Roll... Perfect! "I like the subject for this lesson already, Professor," she commented in an excited voice. |
Jack walked into class, his eyes immediately falling on the poster in front of the room. Rock 'n' Roll huh? Well, that definitely sounded interesting. Jack nodded to show that he understood what the Professor was saying about points. He could already tell that they were cutting back on the point distribution this term. Not that Jack really cared. He just wanted to be out of the negatives already. He took a seat near the middle of the room, which was a first. Usually he settled for the back. He pulled out his notes and got himself prepared for the lesson as he waited for everyone else to show up. |
Jane entered the class, feeling really full from lunch. She was happy to get back into homework and class mode. Points, points!We need points..and learn! "Hiiiiyaaa Professor Dumont!!"Jane waved, smiled and took a seat in the 2nd last row of desks, hoping to save a seat for Christian. |
Glancing behind her, Caitlin noticed a few more people had arrived ... two girls in particular who were sitting next to each other ... obviously very good friends from their closeness and the whispering going on between them; and she wished she'd spot some of her good friends. Many of them she hadn't seen in a long time. Two in particular. Mel, of course, she'd spoken to once or twice last term, but that was ages ago at this point. Who knows if her best friend would be willing to speak to her again ... Unfortunately this was not the time to be thinking of things that happened in the past. Caitlin needed to focus ... in order to keep her sanity. |
Satine walked into class and looked around the room for a seat. She opted for one towards the front of the classroom. As she unpacked her book, parchment, and quill, she smiled and said, "Howzit! Professor!" in her head, she realized she was the least excited for this class, I mean after all, her father was a Muggle and she had grown up in the Muggle world, but she had to admit that she didn't understand everything about the Muggles....I guess there were always things to learn. After being to three amazing lessons, she hoped this one was just as interactive and unique....but she wasn't too worried...he had mentioned stars, and goodies, and surprises..."Professor did you mention stars, goodies, and surprises...Oh My!" she hoped he would pick up on the pun from the Muggle Movie as she giggled herself. She announced to really no one in particular, "If anyone needs any extra quills or parchment, please let me know...I've got plenty." she went ahead and unloaded everything extra she had brought...she really felt bad for the Slytherins so she had packed extra just in case. |
Victoria looked round the room and saw that there was only her and another ravenclaw in this class and other ravenclaw was older than her. "Hello professor!" she had just noticed the professor at his desk. |
Demetria walked in and took a seat. "Hello Professor." she said with a friendly smile. As she was taking her books out, she looked up at the poster. She smiled at the thought of "goodies" Candy, perhaps? she thought to herself. |
Divad tried to find a seat next to Satine or Vicky, but he wound up sitting by himself. "Hello Professor, how was your summer?" Divad asked politely. |
Victoria looked round and saw Divad "Hey Divad, I saved two seats for you and Jules". |
"Thanks" Divad said, hurrying to sit next to her. "Have you see Jule?" |
"No, I haven't seen her since she was in the common room", she saved a place for Jules and Thomas too. |
Urgh. Muggle studies. The subject was so damn confusing! But Ems had to admit, she was rather fond of the professor. He was a likeable man if not a little eccentric -insanely obsessed with those muggle types... just like her brother, whom Ems had learned a thing or two from but most of it still confused the hell out of her... especially muggle sports and that electricity stuff they used. Surely that scary blue stuff was magic. It had to be! It was the only logical explanation for it. She went to sit towards the back of the room, smiling pleasantly at Professor Dumont on the way past and settled at her desk, squinting to the front at the board. Rock and Roll. hmmm – didn't seem so bad. Listening to the professor, she frowned. No house points? If it had been Arithmancy or Astronomy she might have cared... but as she was rubbish at this particular subject, she merely shrugged her shoulders. |

Thomas entered the classroom with the equipment he needed. Thomas looked for a table in the front of the class. Thomas found a free table so he put all his equipment on the table and waited for the class to start. But before he sat down he saw that Vicky was also in the classroom so he decided that he'll sit next to her. |
Ah... Muggle Studies, Iris had Practically lived with Muggles before Hogwarts - so it shouldn't be too hard, right? As she didn't have any thing, she walked up to the front of the class where the proffessor was and said, "Hello Professor, Um... Do you mind if you could lend me some parchment and a quill, and anything else I will need for the lesson please? I've not got anything after the incident in the Dungeons you see." Hopefully the professor wouldn't mind, as she had said 'please'. Iris then looked around to see if Aaron had turned up yet. |
Seeing some more Ravenclaws enter the room, Satine turned around a waved at them and invited them over to some seats by her, but she wasn't sure if everyone wanted to sit this close to the front of the room. Quote:
