Mess Tent

Not nearly as comfortable as the table in the great hall, but at least it's a place to eat! :)

Chris Potter walked away from the ladder he had just decended to get on the grounds and was shocked to see a bunch of tents, he walked up to the large one that was designated for Gryffindor and walked in. He sat at the large empty table. Maybe someone would show up soon. He was kind of hungry.

SO...question?

Swiftly soaring through the sky, his weight was equally distributed on a broomstick his mother had bought him his second year at Hogwarts. Cordova was a decent flyer; Capable of keeping his balance, maintaing a clear mind and had rather quick reflexes. Though he preferred other means of traveling such as, apparating, floo-powder, and portkeys. But they weren't allowed in the castle or on the grounds. So how exactly was he supposed to get outside other than summing his broomstick and floating out of his dormitory window? The Dungeons, Entrance, and Great Hall were all flooded. Besides exiting the castle he too was also hungry, but knew that the Professor's would make arrangements in due time.

Soaring pass the mountains, the forbidden forest and more towards the entrance of the castle, he noticed a set of white tents, that shine brightly off setting the castle's brick walls. Flying over the landscape and circling around the tents, he decided to dismount and see exactly what was going on. He zoomed towards the ground rapidly and pulled his broom upward quickly before the tip of it touched the earth and would cause him to be thrown off forcefully. But he landed. His feet touched the ground softly, though he was standing firmly on them. Pulling his broom through his legs, he threw it over one shoulder and proceeded towards the tent hoping that someone wasn't going to jump off and blast him for being so nosey.

Pulling aside one of the tent's openings, his eyes scanned the well lit room that resembled the Great Hall despite the lackadaisical ceiling, missing dangling candles, and massive windows. But the benches, plates, and food were all in place for the students to indulge into.

"I'm the first one I guess," he puffed up his chest and glided towards the empty Ravenclaw table and took a seat in the middle of the long benches. He tucked his broom under his feet and looked around hoping that the mashed potatoes and corn served in the platters were really designated for the students, and not one of those receptions where he wasn't invited. "Let's dig in," he said as a prayer over his food and began to pile the food hastily onto an empty plate.

occ: so...if the Great Hall is flooded, which means the entrance to the castle is flooded. How exactly are the students supposed to RP their way getting to the Grounds and this tent? For the time being I'll use my imagination, but it would be weird if everyone does what I'm going to do.

(after searching the boards)JK, I noticed the shoots and ladders... Don't scold me IC. I'll do better next time :)

Victoria was sitting at the ravenclaw table in the mess table wondering when the floods was going to stop. She started eating her dinner of roast lamb and vegetables.

LunaticLady 07-16-2009 08:52 PM

Marina's legs were still shaking from the climb down those dreadful ladders, when she sat down for her first lunch at the tent. Eeew lamb! She ate only little of the meat and more of the potatoes and vegetables. Next to her there was a first year girl who didn't seem to have a problem with the lamb. "You like that?" she asked her, not sure if the other could hear her, as she was always talking so low, due to her shyness.

Mugglemad 07-16-2009 10:16 PM

"Ya, I like lamb but I am fussy with beef or pork, I am Victoria, I am a first year" she smiled at the girl.

Kevin wandered into the mess tent and looked about and saw the slytherin table and sat down and started to fill his plate with the chicken cassarole and peas and a couple of slices of garlic bread and started to eat he was going to enjoy this lovely meal and hopefully find somebody to chat to

"Hi, I'm Marina. I'm in second year." she paused, racking her brains for something interesting to say "So... what do you think of this water curse thing? If it rises any further, they might send us all home." Her voice indicated that Marina liked that idea.

"Well I think it's absolutely terrible and the Professors BETTER figure out how to resolve this problem before it gets even WORSE. I'd like to finish my term for once." He knew the question was not directed towards him, but felt like adding his to knuts. "And Marina," he addressed her before continuing his meal, "nice to meet you. I'm Cordova," he pronounced accurately. "Cordova Heinke," he finished his full name ,"a fifth year by the way."

He ate his potatoes quickly and drained his goblet of pumpkin juice before speaking again. "Good day Victoria," he poured himself a glass of water and smiled kindly at both Marina and Victoria. "It's a bit dodgy don't you think, those chutes and ladders? I didn't know how to get down here a while ago so I grabbed my broom and flew. I overheard some Gryffindors talking about the new approved exit and that's how I figured people were getting to the grounds," he shook his head in disapproval. "I just think they could have came up with something possibly safer and less straining."

Cordova had been down a while before the two other Ravenclaw had appeared, so for the most part his meal was already finished.

Mugglemad 07-17-2009 08:18 AM

"It is strange, the fact that the professors can't stop it, I was there when the groundkeeper's hut flooded" Then she heard her name, she looked up and saw Cordova "Hey Cordova, I don't like the ladders but I love the slides?"

Marina was taken by surprise to be spoken to by the fifth-year and had to swallow a mouthful of potatoe and sauce before she could answer: "Hi!... The ladders! Yes, I know! I'm not a fan of hights and I was so afraid I might fall down when I climbed down to get here."

Pushing aside his empty plate, he shifted towards the two girls and leaned one elbow on the table and rested his head in the palm of his hand. He glanced at Victoria with a smile and laughed softly at her response to sliding off a building. Only a kid would enjoy a slid that much, he thought to himself and scratched his head as he eyed Marina.

"It'll be a ...," he paused trying to filter his word choice and pick a friendlier one."A.... a real work out trying to get back in the castle if you decide to climb a ladder up five stories. But it's probably safest to to have the ladder that high. I mean, I'm sure the first floor will be next to flood," he was hoping not, but it's hard to have faith in something that looks helpless .

She saw that Cordova was staring at her, she has a boyfriend in slytherin but she wants a boyfriend in ravenclaw. She smiles back at him as she starts to eat her ice cream.

Sarah walked into the tent and sat down at the table and started to eat, she was hoping that someone would join her, she grabbed some food and started to eat, she also decided to drink some pumkin juice, she was so bored with all this flooding and she hoped that someone would sort it out soon, she was starting to get fed up with seeing water everywhere other than the lake.

Iris walked into the giant tent and sighed, deciding that she didn't want to sit in a marquee on a lovely day, she grabbed an apple and headed back out for the lake.

Sitting with her head on his shoulder felt lovely, and comforting. She nodded at his question, turning her head to answer. "I'd like that, yeah.Feeling kinda hungry actually, don't know about you.Shall we go and get some food?"

Ryder made his way to the makeshift Hufflepuff tables. He was still holding on to Sarahs hand as he set down. Now that he was here, he was surprised at how hungry he really was. But first, Sarah. "What would you like, Sarah?" he asked her.

MeredithRodneyMckay 07-23-2009 06:35 PM

Sitting down she looked around at the food laid out in front of them.It was such a shame that they couldn't eat in the Great Hall, the grandness of the room was inviting with all it's candles and magical ceiling.A tent in the grounds just wasn't the same.
Sighing she grabbed a plate and shrugged at Ryder's question. "I don't know really.Mind you I'm so hungry I could eat a horse! Well ok,not a real one but you know what I mean!" she laughed and nudged him on the arm, before leaning forward and piling some mashed potatoes onto the empty plate. "Could you pass me the chicken, please?" she asked, pointing to the sliced meat on his right side. "What are you going to have?"

purple·myst 07-23-2009 06:44 PM

Ryder laughed with her, it felt good to laugh. He passed her the chicken before thinking about her question for a minute. While he thought, he loaded rice onto his plate. "Just the chicken too I guess," he finally decided, adding some of that to his plate as well.

Mess Tent.

It lacked so much grandeur. She'd much rather eat in the beautifully constructed Great Hall with the warm floating candles and...well for starters floor....and it's ceiling with it's beautiful view...

To bad it was flooded with lake water.

Letting out a small sigh as she entered the tent for the first time she muttered a few things under her breath before plopping at the table, putting a few things on her plate, without hardly even looking at what she was taking. For all she knew it could be spinach she was piling on her plate or it could also be roast beef.

She was too absorbed in her thoughts to even notice.

However she did recognize the girl sitting next to her as she glanced up from her food to get some pumpkin juice. She was the girl that she'd made flip out in the common room. Rightfully, of course, being in that situation. Melanie glanced sideways at her wondering briefly if she'd wanna talk to her....She she looked frustrated. And frustrated people could always use some cheering up right? "Hey Sarah." she greeted the girl with a small smile, poking her shoulder. Melanie faltered for a moment, unsure of what to say next, but then she thought of something, about how Sarah's shoes had died a horribly wet death in the common room and continued on, wondering if maybe they'd gotten dry and come back to life or something. "Are your shoes okay?" she ask casually, with an exuberant grin as if this was the most natural thing to say in the world. "I'm sure they were good shoes...even if they failed, you know, sorta got your socks all wet during the flood." she added, muttering the last part. So maybe that wasn't the best thing to say to someone who was grieving the loss of their shoes and 3 flooded floors of the castle, but perhaps she'd appreciate her being thoughtful about it. Or...Whatever.

Really, she had no clue. Just spreadin' the cheer and joy, y'know?

Uhmm...Well hopefully that was what she was doing anyway. That was what she was going for.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 07-24-2009 03:19 AM

Diane came to visit the Slytherin Tent with a food tray, but she did not go to the table. She went to the food dumpster by the far side of the table.

Kneeing down next to it, she reached over a globed hand to fetch only the most wasted material and placed them in the tray, one by one. The pudrid look and strong rancid smell did not seem to bother her at all... though she did keep the share in the tray a distance from her face - as much as her short arms would allow her. As non-chantedly, she stood right up, ready to leave.
