| | Kitchen Level Corridor
The Kitchen and Hufflepuff Common Room are accessed via the staircase to the right of the main staircase in the Entrance Hall. You follow along a bright corridor adorned with paintings, the most notable of which is the still life of a bowl of fruit (with a particularly ticklish pear). |

| "Fah!" Helios laughed. As intimidated as he was by the professors, he wouldn't let Krissy know that he wanted to walk away. "Come with me, dear." Taking her arm, he looped it around his own, marching confidently towards where the staff were gathered. "Hello, professors. Are you about to raid the kitchen for snacks?" The boy smiled and bowed. Fear was a strong motivator. Hopefully the girl would fall for his facade. He never looked braver than when he was afraid.

He was more than a little intimidated by Kaz. Krissy smiled at the teachers. "Hello professors." smiling widely she beamed at her DADA professor. "Hello Professor Lawson. I do hope my homework was satisfactory." She looked down blushing slightly with hope for approval. She slid her arm from Helios', there was no need to get into trouble for public affection. After all HE had grabbed HER arm.

Admittedly, the children had been mildly polite but WHERE was their common sense??! The floor below them had just flooded and did the professors LOOK like they were out to make sandwiches?!1!! Really.

Krissy turned bright red. "Oh! Well I am sorry. I didn't know where we were headed... I'll jest be going back to me common room." Tears threatened to drop from her eyes. The very idea of disappointing her fellow Gryffindors and losing points broke her heart. "My apologies professors..." She mumbled turning away from the professors and Helios. Making her way back up the corridor he head hung low.

Helios smiled politely at the loss of points, and bowed gratefully. "Miss Moon was escorting me to professor Kazimeriz for detention. I was reluctant to return after the flood, but she convinced me to accept my punishment. I believe the potions master will handle my punishment. No need to Hex the messenger." Side stepping infront of Krissy, he did what he could to protect her reputation. She didn't need to punished for associating with him.

Marcus watched the girl walk away and he sighed. She had been one of his promising students too. Although he would have to talk to her about letting her boyfriend talk her into doing silly things like, talk to Professor's who were currently in the middle of a crisis.
Looking at the boy who just didn't know when to keep quiet even though he had just lost five points from his house. "Well maybe you should have read the notices a little more carefully. The detention rooms are now up in the owlery as the dungeons are still flooded. Now please be on your way and let us Professor's finish up our meeting."

Kazimeriz turned to face the young Hufflepuff 'prince' and Gryffindor girl, smirking. "Sunrider. A word, please." Kazimeriz grabbed the young boy by the ear and dragged him away from the others... but purposely keeping him close enough so that every person in the room could clearly hear their conversation. "How dare you?" He growled. "To speak back to Professor Bunbury and disrespect a master of this school in such a manner is absolutely disgraceful, and just goes to further display how little you know of what it is to be a gentleman, much less a man with the responsibility of royalty. You will apologize to her immediately... and in fact, I think that will not be enough. You will both go to my office -- the office of the headmaster--" because apparently the child missed the memo -- "and wait there. I will see to your punishment at my convenience." He growled. "Go. Now.
Oh, Sunrider would rue the day he disrespected Professor Bunbury in front of Kazimeriz.

| "I was only-- I was just-- I only meant to-- ow! ow! ow!" Now this was ridiculous. Helios wasn't just some little kid that you could drag around by whatever you could grab onto. He was just as tall, if not taller, than the professor who was dragging him by the ear.
He was rueing this day. Rueing it hard.
Helios had tried to be polite to the professors. Helios tried to keep Krissy from getting in trouble. Tried, tried, tried. In the words of Yoda "Do, or do not, there is no try" it would seem that Helios was deep enough in do not that even the force would have a hard time pulling him out of that quagmire.
Whether it really happend, or only appeared that way in the imagination; the boys hair seemed to flare a spiteful red color, his chest filling with air to reply. But a glance at Krissy, and the defiant winds no longer blew. What was once a raging storm, became only a pitiful breeze. A defeated sigh that left the princes head bowed down low. "I am sorry. I meant no offense, sirs. Mam." Rueing still, he stalked off towards the headmasters office to rue some more.
RUE!

RUE! "Mhmmm...." the redhead grunted at the boy. She sank back against the wall of the corridor and went back to stewing and plotting A Million and One Deaths for Maddening Men and Cretinous Children. That sounded like the winning title of a Witchy Wo-Man Revenge Reward novel right there.

Vindictus watched the whole exchange in unusual silence and was pleased to see the students leave. "Now that our little disruption is gone, I suggest that we venture to the Staff Room and discuss exactly what just happened in the dungeons."

Kazimeriz nodded. "Yes. That water, not responding to any charm or spell... most unusual. At least the levels seem to have stabilized." But for how long? Kazimeriz cast a patronus message, sending his qilin out to all the professors:

Vindictus's jaw tightened as he watched Kazimeriz. The old goat takes my suggestion. Not even a simple 'thank you' for my idea. I wonder if I can get my hands on a niffler and set it loose in wherever he's gonna teach potions.... But he snapped out of it quickly and looked at the others. "I smell like whatever was in that water, so I'm going to go shower and change into clean robes before heading up to this little pow-wow." He didn't even bother to wait for any protests and left the corridor.

Miranda stood staring at the interaction between the teachers and some other students that had arrived.
This was just to weird and seeing angry adults was not something she wanted to witness. Besides it smelled horribly here now and Miranda was relieved that the professor had not taken her hand to get up again. Ew. Get out of here already!
And so she did, leaving the group to their discussion. Miranda would go find something more fun to entertain herself with.

Lost in thoughts, Kiri stumbled up the stairs into the Entrance Hall, her bag bouncing off her side with every step. She still had some homework to do, but the books she needed were in the Slytherin Observatory up in the tower. She sighed to herself. That meant climbing up the ten million steps again.
As she was passing the dark entrance to the Kitchen Level, she thought she could hear a low gurgling sound. She stopped abruptly, eyes narrowed. It couldn't be... The last time she had heard it, it was when she and the rest of the Slytherins had been ushered out of their common room very hurriedly. Could the water really be rising into the Kitchen Level? Or was that sound coming from the Dungeons?
Kiri walked down the steps slowly. The corridor was dark and, as far as she could see, empty, but the floor was shimmering oddly, reflecting the walls and ceiling dimly. She could hear the sound a little more clearly now. Splish, splash. Kiri's feet made small taps on the ground with every step. When she was a few metres in, she stopped. Her eyes opened wide. So it was the water! It really was rising again! An accident in the kitchens didn't seem very likely.
Heart hammering, Kiri bent low and let her hands run across the floor. Oh, it was wet alright. There was a very faint current to it as well, pushing in from the far end of the corridor. The water felt very strange on Kiri's hands, for some reason.
She straightened up. Did the teachers know yet?!

Kiri nearly had a heart attack when she heard the voice behind her. She jumped around, splashing her shoes and robes with water.
The water was rising faster, and now it was making its way into her shoes. Her toes curled in protest - it was cold as ice! Kiri squinted along the gloomy corridor. A tall figure was lurching toward her. After a few moments, it turned into the Head Boy, Clifford, the badge with the Slytherin serpent tinkling on his robes.
"Clifford?" she asked uncertainly, ignoring the wrong name and taking a step in his direction. "What-"
Her shoes were full of water now, and she nearly slipped. Flailing wildly, she barely managed to stay upright, but more water splashed into her robes and face. She blinked rapidly to clear her eyes. Clifford had reached her now. "What's happening? Why is the water rising again?" From the other end of the corridor, hidden in the dark, a cold wind had joined the rushing water. Without thinking, Kiri took his hand.

GAH! Why was this happening again!? Why couldn't the bloody water stayed where it belonged! In the lake! If anymore of this icky, murky water filled the castle what would happen to the giant squid!? Bartholomew would diiiiie!
All thoughts of Bartholomew the giant squid suffocating to death left when little Kiwi grabbed a hold of his hand. The seventh year froze, unsure what to do.. he somehow managed not to pull his hand away though. He was scared, and he supposed Kiwi was too. "I'm not sure," Clifford murmured darkly, eyes narrowing toward the darker end of the corridor. He most certainly was NOT going that way. "But I wish it would just stay outside!" Oh goodness. He wanted to hurry to the kitchens to save as much food as he could.. maybe a few house elves too. Vanessa and Dominic were surely aiding the Hufflepuffs in the Common Room - if the water had reached that far anyway.. and Kiwi was still gripping onto his hand. "It's probably gonna get higher, just like it did down in the dungeons.." and he certainly wasn't going to stay around if that was happening.

Kiri's calm was breaking down fast now that the water was swirling stronger around her fully submerged shoes. She was shivering from the cold. She peered around Clifford, half-expecting a wave to suddenly appear out of the dark and sweep them away.
Then she remembered the Hufflepuffs. They were on this level as well, weren't they? Kiri didn't know where exactly their common room was, so she wasn't sure if they were supposed to come this way or not, but the fact that Clifford and her were all alone in this corridor was a little disconcerting. But surely the professors knew about this second flooding by now, and they and the Hufflepuff prefects would get everyone out safely, as they had done when the Slytherins had to evacuate.
The corridor was still filling up rapidly. Kir's feet felt numb. When she shifted her weight, she nearly slipped a second time. She could feel the current's pull clearly now, and the distressing smell that came along with the water made her head spin. Or was it the water itself? She squeezed Clifford's hand. "Can we get out of here, please?" she whispered. "I'm... scared."

Oh darn. He probably shouldn't of said that. That thing about the water level here rising just like it down in the dungeons. It seemed he'd gone and scared poor Kiwi.. and the more she got scared, the more he got scared. EEEEK!!
He was the older, more manly one here.. AND he was the Head Boy. That meant it was up to him to make sure Kiwi was okay. Her words about getting out of here sounded like the most WONDERFUL plan ever. He was debating whether or not it would be a good idea to free her hand and simply cling to the back of her robes.. poor girl was slipping and sliding alot, but not wanting to startle her further, Clifford simply tugged at the small hand in his. "We're getting out of here.." he nodded, pulling her up the corridor that would eventually lead them back into the entrance hall. "Just.. be careful.. baby steps.. don't wanna fall face first into this icky water."

For some reason, every time Eleanor started wondering around the castle without destination, she always ended up in the kitchen.
More precisely, in the kitchen corridor.
Meh, that was being such a boring day, maybe she should just go to the common room and do some homework.
Yes because she had a pile of books on her bed waiting to be opened. sigh
But doing homework as boring as well, but at least she would be doing something.
Something useful actually.
The brunette was ready to turn around and leave the kitchen level when she heard a splash.. and then another.
Ellie's eyebrows immediately rose as she quickly turned around, trying to find where did that splash had came from.
And then, her feet started to feel cold and.. wet? "What the heck?" Ellie moved her hazel eyes to the floor that looked like a mirror of watter. " Holly hippogriffs!" the slytherin girl exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise.
What the heck was happening in there?

"Just.. be careful.. baby steps.. don't wanna fall face first into this icky water." "Alright," Kiri said quietly, following him. She cursed her choice of shoes - they were good for a relatively warm and sunny day, but lacking a bit in flooded-corridor skid resistance. The water level had risen way past her ankles now - when she looked down, she could see the surface of the dark water, and her pale, wide-eyed reflection, but her shoes and feet were gone. The cold was biting into her skin worse than ever as her robes soaked up water.
They walked on without speaking for several seconds, but then the silence became too oppressive. The low rushing and gurgling of the water, the splish splash sounds their feet made, step after step along the gloomy corridor... "We should get to the stairs soon, right?" Kiri said, and her frightened voice echoed through the darkness. Why was it taking them so long?! Surely when she'd come down here, she hadn't walked this far. Right?

He was wrong. But what else was new. He was still carrying Sarah in his arms, so he turned her around, so that she was on his back. Sure it may seem a little odd, but for some reason, he didn't want to put her down. "Hold on, okay?" he said, as he made his way to the end of the corridor and started to head for the Great Hall. He'd put her down before he got there though...

Sarah saw the water in the corridor and she couldn't believe how the water was getting into the corridor or the castle but she couldn't think about it for long as she knew she had to get out of here, she was still upset that her hair was ruined and so where her shoes.
