"Ermm...I think you should stay for now." Vanessa nodded, smiling at the two hufflepuffs, knowing that they probably wanted to be anywhere from here. "But maybe if you take off your over robes if there wet." Vanessa nodded with a smile, then they wouldn't need to be soaking wet. "Are you two okay?"

"I'm not so sure Ryder." Vanessa admitted, hopefully they'd be told soon. Although the professors were probably trying to stop the flooding from getting any higher. "I'd presume they'll get new books and parchment..." Vannie nodded, trying to smile at Ryder, hoping that he'd understand. "A professor might be over to talk later."

"Are you okay." Vanessa asked, as she moved along the line to another hufflepuff, who didnt really looked happy. "I wouldn't worry too much...the slytherins are copying aren't they?" She smiled. At least they were all out of the wet now, that was something good at least.

Juliet looked around. Suddenly it was rather full. She smiled at some kids and dropped her head back down. Water sloshed around her feet where it had pooled from everyone being wet. She looked up again and said, Um. Miss Prefect? Do you have a drying spell for the water on us and floor? She smiled at her. She looked busy. Do you need help or something. I feel kinda useless. You could tell me the spell and I could dry people off for you? She hoped she could help.

Tammy looked up at the prefect and nodded without a thought of what to say or do. "Yeah im fine..." She paused. She had a point. "I guess so. Its just not what I would have hoped for on top of everything else." She spoke quietly, but loud enough for Vanessa to hear her. It was pretty much a horiible coincidence that she had suffered enough during the summer and had had to come back to school and then have to leave all of her stuff behind.

"You can call me Vanessa." Vannie smiled at the younger girl, at least she didn't look too scared anymore. "Well...you could try "tergeo" it might work." Vanessa commented, kind of remembering it. "I think you're okay for now....just back down.." She smiled at the girl. Hopefully she'd be okay with that. "I'll come back if I need you."

"Are you okay Tamzin?" Vanessa asked, as she stood behind the girl. She hoped that she was, well she had said she was. But she had been referring to the flood so. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked, although she really she did really need to make sure everyone else was okay. "Or...maybe another friend?" She smiled at the girl, hoping that she wa okay.

Sarah looked into her sisters eyes again. "Promise?" She asked, she didn't want her sister to make promises she couldn't keep since they didn't seem to see each other that much. "Oh and where is Bee?" She asked. "I have loads to tell her." She looked around but couldn't see her. "Yeah better." She smiled as she hugged her and give her a peck on the cheeks. "Okay I'll come." She smiled.

Sarah was just about to leave when the Prefect Sarah had clung to earlier started to speek. "Why do we have to stay?" She asked, this was annoying when she said about taking her robes off in the Great Hall she got angry. "What I don't think so, you realy want me to take my robes off in here." She asked sarcasticly, this was a big no no. "Eh Vanessa, I don't think that would be wise." She said to the Prefect.

Julie nodded whiling pointing her wand at herself and said, Tergeo. She then nodded again and laid her head back down. She was very tired.

Sarah looked up at sound of another voice.She had been lost in dreamland,wondering how they were going to cope when all they had was the wet clothes they were wearing.
Smiling at her Huffie prefect,Sarah said "Well I'm a little cold actually,but fine other than that.Do you know where we'll be sleeping,Vanessa?" There was a hint of tiredness in her voice,even though she'd only just woken up.Too much excitement,if you can call it that,always makes her sleepy.

Sarah nodded along with what Ryder was saying.She was sure that she'd asked already....hadn't she? Maybe the thought of losing all her stuff had addled her brain.
She pulled her legs up,tucking her knees under her chin,and wrapped her arms around them trying to warm up.Rocking from side to side on her seat,Sarah finally decided to rest her head on Ryder's shoulder,still nodding as he spoke.She was just glad that she didn't bring her Pigmy Puff with her this year as he would have been in the dormitry at the time and she couldn't have gone to get him.

Alice's head perked up and spotted a girl with Huffies robes. Ah..wait, the badge. Prefect. Another prefect. But this time from her own house. She gazed at the badge for few seconds. The shiny badge was so attractive. She had to resist the urge to touch it, atleast once. Oh..come on Alice, you need to respond to your prefect. First thing first. Alice blinked, "Why? Are we safe here?" she raised her brow, confused, as the girl suggested to take off their over robes, "Umm..it's okay. Carrying the wet clothes will be more yuckier than wearing it," she smiled uneasily. "Yeah I'm ok, despite my shattered wish to boating inside the castle." she said, giggled mildly.

Alice leaned down to her Sister. "I Promise. So no more whining and crying..okay?" she re-assured her. Poor girl. She didnt believe her older sister. She kissed on her cheek and was about to tell more, she seemed getting angry at the prefect girl. Alice had to tug her robes to stop arguing. She started again. Why dont you just zip your mouth for a while Sarah!? "Keep your tone low Sarah, she only suggested us to take off our over robes only if we like, got it?" she insisted, not wanting to get into any trouble anymore.

"Thanks Vanessa," Ryder said, smiling at her in thanks. "I'll keep an eye open for one," he said, suddenly feeling very tired.

As Sarah laid her head on his shoulder, he wrapped her arm around her and pulled her a little closer. He gently rubbed her arm, hoping that it would warm her up, she felt freezing. "Did you leave anything you don't want to lose in your room?" He asked her, looking down at her as he talked.

Sarah looked at her sister and didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry, Alice, I don't mean to be rude it's just." She started then stopped and whispered to her sisters. "I was getting changed when the flood started." She hoped that her sister would get what she ment. "I'm going to Professor Shackleton office I need a word with her." She smiled as she left the great hall, she wondered if her sister was following.

"Because you're wet." Vanessa commented, as she took off her over robes, and dropped them onto the bench. Hopefully she'd be a little less wet now. "And we need to know where everyone is so the Professor's will know that nobody is still in the common room." Vanessa sighed, looking at Sarah. "You dont have to...you'll just be cold."



"I'm not sure Meredith...maybe we'll find out when Professor Shakleton comes down." Vanessa spoke quietly, as she smiled at Meredith. "Your cold?" Vanessa asked, looking around. Well she could conjure the girl a blanket up. "Wait a minute." She pulled her wand out, and quickly conjured a small blanket, before handing it too Meredith. "If you get too warm just give it to someone else okay?"

"Yes...I'd say so." Vanessa nodded, smiling at the girl. "I mean...you have both your prefects here." She added, motioning towards Dominic, before looking at the girl again. "And the professors should be here soon...then we can all get sorted." She spoke quietly, nodding as the girl spoke. "Just if you get cold take them off okay?"

"It's okay Ryder." Vanessa nodded with a smile, at least he was okay. "Good idea...I'll do it as well." She smiled, before moving down the table.

Sarah scooted over a little when Ryder put a comforting arm round her.For some reason she just wanted to sleep,maybe stress? Maybe she just didn't sleep well on the sofa before they escaped a flooding common room.
Tilting her head up,Sarah looked at Ryder as he spoke. "No,thankfully,just school stuff.I've got an owl so he's safely tucked up in the owlry." She looked back down and started fiddlng with her robe sleeve,before suddenly remembering something.... "What about you? You had those newspapers from the library didn't you?!"

Sarah smiled back at the Prefect. "OK,thanks.I'll wait and see what she says."
Stretching a hand out,Sarah took the blanket with a quiet "Thank you." Nodding to let her know she would pass it along,Sarah wrapped it around her legs and rubbed them to try and get the feeling back.She then proceeded to put it over her shoulders,snuggling into it to warm up.

Alice looked down at Sarah, nodded her head in approval, "I got it. So dont dare to take off your robes." she said through giggling. Seriously girl, you're funny. And then it happened again. She ran away from her informed her she was going to see Professor Shackleton in her office. What's on the earth she was going to do with her?! Alice shrugged her shoulders, "Take care." she yelled out to reach her ears.

Oh..the girl got misunderstood her lines. Having two prefects here can save them from the flood?! She giggled inwardly. But the girl seemed so nice she could tell that all by her soft talks and nice body languages. Alice smiled at her, "No..i was talking about the flood. What if the water level is raised before the professors stepped in?" she doubted, worried of other younger student's safety. "I'm cold, but i'm gonna use some magic now," she grinned before pulled out her wand to dry her clothes off.

Rhea was so calm and in control. Wesley couldn't help admire her ability to stay level-headed in emergencies.

"I think we should help now," Wesley said, getting more and more anxious with the growing number of homeless Hufflepuffs. She wanted to help them, pay everyone back for the kindness they had shown her when she had fainted on her very first day here. But she didn't know how. That's why waiting made so much sense- but Wesley couldn't wait, she wanted to help now.

If only there was a professor...WAIT! Is that Vanessa? Sure enough, sitting down a little ways, was the brunette prefect. Prefects know everything. Certainly she would know how Wesley and Rhea could help. "Maybe we could ask Vanessa if there's anything we could do since she's the prefect?" Wesley suggested.

Tammy nodded, but half shook her head. "Not really, but im fine. honest." She smiled at her as she realised Vanessa was trying to make her way around to everybody and Tammy didnt want to be the cause of her not getting around. "Ill talk to someone if i need to though." She reassured the prefect but partially reassured herself.

"I'd presume she'll be along soon." Vanessa nodded with a smile, as she watched Sarah wrap the blanket around her. At least now the girl wouldn't be too cold. "Just get me or Prefect Denton if you need anything else." Vanessa added, smiling, before she moved to look at Alice and the other Sarah again.

"Oh..I see." Vanessa giggled, having misunderstood what The younger girl was asking her. "Im sure that the Pofessor's will be able to sort it." Vanessa nodded, and surely someone would open the castle doors before it go any higher, surely then the water would just run out of the castle.
"I can also get you a blanket if you want one." She commented with a smile. But if she was okay then that was okay.

"Whatever you say." Vanessa smiled, she seemed okay though, but Vannie would keep an eye on her anyway. "Yeah...especially if you dont feel too good." Vannie nodded, before moving down towards Wesley and Rhea.

"Hey guys...you two okay?" She asked, remembering that Rhea had wanted to go get her books.

Tammy nodded politely and watched as the prefect moved on. She had realised she was hungry and quickly leant forward and grabbed a slice of buttered bread and tore a bit off and placed it into her mouth. The hunger pangs ripped through the bread, of course that wasnt her fault. Okay, well maybe it was.

Rhea smiled at Wes, she was so anxious to help out that she couldn't help but admire the little first year. She embodied what Huffies were suppose to be.

"O.k. We can help now and I do suppose Vanessa would have an idea as to what we can do to help everyone."
She looked over at their house prefect and frowned slightly, she seemed much preoccupied at the moment.
"She seems a bit busy Wes...still wanna help?" she asked returning her gaze to Wesley.

Wesley turned in her seat to look at Vanessa again. She did seem busy-crowded around by everyone. Wesley didn't want to bother her...she has tons of stuff to do; I don't want to add to her list of things- I don't want to be a nuisance! Father always yells when I disturb him in the study, and Vanessa is so nice to me- I don't want her to hate me! -But I want to help!...I want to help... WAIT!- Isn't that just it? She is busy because of the flood! If we offered to help we wouldn't be bothering her!- we'd be helping her be less busy! YES! At least...I think so? If I was busy I'd want someone to help me...but I'm only a first year. Maybe Vanessa'd think I would mess up. Maybe I would be a bother...BUT I WON'T! I'm not going to be any trouble- I'm going to help! I'm going to try my hardest!!!

"I...I think we should still help! We can help Vanessa with her loads of work!" Wesley finally said, hoping Rhea would understand her thinking.

"Maybe...well...um...d-doyouthinkyoucouldmaybebetheonetoask?" The tiny girl asked quickly, staring bashfully at her shoes. Wesley wanted to help, but it didn't mean she was all of the sudden brave. She was still a shy, too-small first year. She still had trouble talking to people. And it was scary to go up and ask questions not knowing what the person would say. Vanessa was a prefect- a person with authority- and people in charge where usually the scariest to talk to....Not that Vanessa was scary. Just...intimidating to a already much too shy 11-year-old. She looked back up at Rhea, eyes hopeful.

Wesley jumped, startled by Vanessa. She hadn't even seen the prefect coming.

"Oh! Oh- yes! I'm-m f-fine!" she stuttered, eyes wide, then looked at Rhea. The older Hufflepuff hadn't looked so good when they first reached the Great Hall, but she was looking better now. Or at least Wesley thought she was.

Now's our chance! We didn't even have to interrupt Vanessa! Wesley had been scared they wouldn't have been able to talk to Vanessa about helping at all because of all the other people. But now they could!

Wesley opened her mouth to ask if they could help, then closed it. Awkwardly, the little girl shuffled her feet. She wanted to help. Really! But she was so scared Vanessa would say something like, "No. You'll only get in the way." She just couldn't bring herself to ask. And if she didn't ask soon, then Vanessa would leave. And it would be too late.

Wesley looked at Rhea pleadingly. Oh please please please ask! I'm too scared! Please please please please please!

Rhea's brows furrowed when Wes began to look uneasy. She was about to ask if she was alright, when Wes blurted out what was bothering her.
She chuckled.
"O.K Wes I'll ask her if she needs any help and offer our services," she said, her tone taking on an amused air.

It wasn't until Wes had replied to Vanessa that Rhea realized she was talking to them. She hoped she didn't think she was ignoring her.
"I'm sorry Vanessa, yes we're fine. We were kind of wondering if you needed any help with getting things in order and everyone settled." she said to her House prefect, hoping for Wesley's sake she didn't deny them. She wasn't sure how Wes would take it. The girl seemed really emotional.

Lyra sighed as she thought about one thing. "So are we contaminated again?" If there was one thing..."I really don't want to drink that nasty potion again." Why oh why! She saw Vannie and smiled with the Prefect arrived at the table. "Vans, please tell me you have your shoes," she said as she really wasn't paying attention to anyone that arrived at the table...just that her own special things were at the table. Yeah! It was all about her...as always.

He slowly made his way towards the House table. He was not happy. Not at all. The darn castle was flooding. How did that even happen without them fixing the problem? Hire a plumber?

He did smile slightly when he saw the back of Vannie's head. She was there. That was always a plus of any situation. Too bad she's taken and off limits.

And that Alice chick was there. What was with her and raining on his parade all the bloody time?

UGH.

Walking up to them, he stood behind Vannie and her. "Hey, Vannie," he said to her as grabbed a bit of Alice's hair and pulled hard.

"No problem,..Er.." Alice stretched out the line, since she didnt know her Prefect's name. "Well..I dont think they will step in before the flood washed out us," she giggled even in such a messy situations. You getting better Alice. A lot. "No thanks..I guess i've a good stamina," she said politely, "I'm Alice, Alice Winchester, third year," she introduced herself to her, smiling.

Urgh!! Alice felt something or someone had tugged her hair down. What was the hell behind me?! She turned back, spotted...Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhg..the meanie boy.

"Hey!" she yelled, "What are you doing with my hair?" she moved away from him only a bit, looking at him, frowned, "I guess you liked my hair. Dont you?" she asked, him, narrowed her eyes. Meanie boy!Haha.

"Are you sure?" Vanessa asked with a smile, she looked a little scared, but she should be okay now, especially now that were out of the flood and in the nice, warm, dry great hall. "Are you that wet?" She asked, as she couldn't really tell as the girl was sitting down. She might have been cold too actually, but wouldn't she have said?

Vanessa was glad that Wesley was with an older hufflpuff, at least that meant that both the girls would hopefully be okay. "Well...I think we're okay for now Rhea..." Vanessa nodded, but thought that they probably would want to do something instead of just sitting there. "Maybe you could go and make sure that all the hufflepuff's aren't too cold, and if they are call me okay?"

Vanessa smiled as Lyra addressed her, and she turned back towards her friend, hoping that the girl was okay. "Yes I got them." Vanessa smirked at Lyra. This story would be fun to tell. "Dominic accioed them for me....getting hit by them in the process." She smiled, but then thought of something. "But...are you okay Lyra?"

"Hey...Torin." Vanessa smiled, her eyes widened as she watched him pull at that girls hair. "Torin...thats not nice...she's just been in the flood dude." Vanessa shook her head at him.
"Are you okay though?" She asked, looking concerned. "Were you in the common room?"

"Well...they probably didnt think it was going to get that bad..." Vannie smiled at the younger girl, at least she seemed okay. "If you do get cold ask though okay?" She nodded, before the girl introduced herself. "I'm Vanessa Corbette...but you can call me Vannie." She smiled, but then raised her eyebrow at her reaction to Torin pulling her hair.

His smile flickered when Vannie went into semi-Prefect mode with him. But he found it cute. And he loved women in authority. "I was just down there. What's the deal with that? Does this castle normally flood or something?" He crossed his arms over his chest and sighed. And he wondered where his sister was. He hadn't seen her in a few weeks, and that was really weird.

He turned to Alice then and said, "My bad?" He shrugged. He did not like that girl and he did not know why. Unless it was because she first interfered with his plans to sweet talk BunBuns, then worked to ruin his time with Vannie. She just had to be a pain.
