"Are you sure?" Vanessa asked with a smile, she looked a little scared, but she should be okay now, especially now that were out of the flood and in the nice, warm, dry great hall. "Are you that wet?" She asked, as she couldn't really tell as the girl was sitting down. She might have been cold too actually, but wouldn't she have said?
Vanessa was glad that Wesley was with an older hufflpuff, at least that meant that both the girls would hopefully be okay. "Well...I think we're okay for now Rhea..." Vanessa nodded, but thought that they probably would want to do something instead of just sitting there. "Maybe you could go and make sure that all the hufflepuff's aren't too cold, and if they are call me okay?" |
Wesley nodded,
"No, really I'm fine! I'm dry now," she shot Rhea a thankful smile, then looked back at Vanessa,
"Honestly." Wide eyed and serious, Wesley nodded again for emphasis, then grinned.
Cocking her head to the side, grin fading, she stared at the prefect for a moment then asked,
"How about you? How are you doing?" Wesley felt stupid for asking, but she couldn't help wonder if anyone had asked Vanessa that. Vanessa was busy taking care of everybody; who was taking care of Vanessa? If she was Vanessa, she would be really tired right now. And in need of some butterbeer. Maybe she should get Vanessa some butterbeer or something to drink -she could go to the kitchens and ask! Wesley opened her mouth to ask if the prefect was thirsty, then closed it.
Wait. Aren't the kitchens flooded? "OH NO! THE HOUSE-ELVES!" Wesley screamed, realization hitting her. Then she blushed awkwardly from the outburst. Wesley thought house-elves were scary- but it didn't mean she wanted them to die. Wesley didn't want anyone to die. And they had helped her that time when she had fainted. They had been so nice!
"Are they okay? I haven't seen any?" She asked, softer, worried for their safety.

Rhea's brows furrowed when Wes began to look uneasy. She was about to ask if she was alright, when Wes blurted out what was bothering her.
She chuckled.
"O.K Wes I'll ask her if she needs any help and offer our services," she said, her tone taking on an amused air.
It wasn't until Wes had replied to Vanessa that Rhea realized she was talking to them. She hoped she didn't think she was ignoring her.
"I'm sorry Vanessa, yes we're fine. We were kind of wondering if you needed any help with getting things in order and everyone settled." she said to her House prefect, hoping for Wesley's sake she didn't deny them. She wasn't sure how Wes would take it. The girl seemed really emotional. |
Wesley smiled at Rhea, sending her a look that said 'Thank you!' Wesley was so happy she had met Rhea; she'd probably be hyperventilating right now without her.
Then Vanessa said that they didn't need any help. Wesley's shoulders sagged, dejectedly. It wasn't that she was sad; okay, she was sad.
But it could have been a lot worse, she told herself,
they didn't say she couldn't help- just that they didn't need help. So it's not like they needed help but didn't want me to help. It's not like that, right? Maybe it is..., Wesley shook her head,
No, Vanessa isn't like that. She wouldn't lie to me. She's the prefect and prefects don't lie.
But then Vanessa suggested that they could help everybody get warm.
"OKAY! We'll do it!" Wesley exclaimed, perking up. Then she nodded, seriously,
"You can count on us." Quote:

Rhea nodded when Vanessa suggested they make sure that the rest of the students weren't cold. She had done a good job of warming up Wes a bit and thought that they could help out in that area. She turned to Wes.
"O.k Wes, If I can recall exactly how the professor taught us to transfigure leaves into blankets I could get some leaves and conjure up a few blankets for everyone." She told the younger student. Rhea frowned a bit, her face screwed up in concentration. She had only successfully transfigured a leaf into a blanket once and hoped that she would get it right this time.
In one swift motion she got up from the table and ran to the great hall door and pointed her wand towards the ground.
"Accio leaves!"
Seconds later leaves were zooming towards her.
She returned to the table with her arms full of leaves.
"O.k. Let's see if I remember how to do this.." She dumped the leaves unto the table and pointed her wand at them. Tapping the leaves lightly she watched as they enlarged and fuzzed. She frowned. Fuzzy leaves were definitely not going to work. She tried again....more fuzz. Rhea relaxed her shoulders then breathed in deeply. She would try again. She pointed her wand at the leaves and muttered the incantation and finally, she had a nice bundle of warm yellow and black blankies. She grinned at Wes.
"Great! Now you can help me hand them out." Quote:
Ash quitewet sat down at the hufflepuff table and looked over at Rhea "Hey are you okay? Do you need a tissue?" Ash asked the girl holding out her hankercheif
| Rhea smiled at the girl who came over and asked if she was O.k. She seemed to attract younger students but she didn't mind.
"I'm O.k thanks. But Wes and I could use some help handing out these blackets," she said to the girl. |
Wesley nodded excitedly as Rhea told her the plan, amazed at the Hufflepuff's ability to create brilliant plans.
"I'll get the leaves!" she said, hopping out of her seat and following Rhea, but before she knew it, the scarlet, orange, and brown November leaves were flying through the door, straight into the older girl.
"Rhea! Watch out!" Wesley screamed, worried they would hit her. But the older girl caught them triumphantly.
"Oh! Sorry!" Wesley apologized,
"That was really neat!"
Wesley picked up the ones that had scattered around and added her leaves to Rhea's jumbo pile. Then she watched, excited.
The leaves turned fuzzy. Very fuzzy. Wesley didn't know whether to laugh or be scared. She had never seen a fuzzy leaf before. Tentatively she reached out to touch one, then pulled back fast. Wesley didn't want to interfere with Rhea's magic. Plus, she didn't know if they were going to explode or something.
They turned a little fuzzier as Rhea tried again. Wesley wasn't sure if this is what Rhea had meant by blankets, but judging by the older girl's frustrated look, it wasn't. Wesley opened her mouth to tell Rhea it was okay. The first-year could never do her spells right- she had totally drowned the entire saloon during her Defence Against the Dark Arts homework. But before she could say anything, the fuzzy leaves turned into fuzzy blankets. Hufflepuff colors!
"You did it Rhea! You did it!" Wesley said exuberantly, jumping up and down.
"Okey-dokey!" The tiny Hufflepuff agreed, ready to begin blanket distributing.
Her efforts to pick up as many blankets as possible were interrupted by another friendly girl, offering Rhea a tissue.
Was Rhea crying? Wesley looked over at the older Hufflepuff girl, brow furrowed with worry.
She did the spell right, there's no reason to be sad. Did I say something wrong? Wesley went over what she had said,
'Okey Dokey'? Rhea said I could help. Oh- I hope I didn't do something wrong... She looked closer at Rhea, there were some tear tracks, but Wesley was certain those were from earlier, not now.
Still trying to figure it out, the tiny girl was relieved when Rhea said she was okay. So Wesley went back to grabbing blankets. She lifted a TON. Too many! Her pile tipped over, blankets landing on the floor.
"Yeah! We could really use some help!" Wesley said after Rhea suggested the girl work with them,
"Ooops!" More fuzzy blankets dropped. She grinned bashfully at Rhea and the other girl,
"See? Lot's of help!"
OOC: Special thanks goes to Leeness for showing me how to do the spoiler tags :) and also to Freds_caribbeangirl for offering her suggestions as well!!! You guys are the best!
