Her laugh like the water over rocks in a brook made him blush. "I sleep pretty well. I've had the chance to travel all over the continent by train, so you learn to be able to sleep." He listened to her talk about what she did. "What's the series about?" he asked her, scooting just a little bit closer as it was a little difficult to hear her speak.
Nia gave Elan a crooked smile. "It does?" she questioned, before gently feeling the plait again. A hint of colour came to her cheeks as what he said fully sank in. "I kinda did it on the train, without a mirror or anything. Just fiddling." She smiled, following his gaze. There seemed to be a few new staff members she noted.

"I guess you would," Nia replied, "One of the easiest ways to pass the time. I must say I'm slightly jealous. It'd be nice to able to sleep through Theo's a hundred and one questions on long journeys." She chuckled. "It's a fantasy series. A bit difficult to explain. It's a world based in a castle with light orbs though, and different ranks for different coloured lights. If that makes sense at all?" She looked at him biting her lip, unsure her explanation was any good.

After successfully finishing his first Hogwarts meal, Jae went looking for his friends. Luckily, they were not that hard to find, especially when Katie was one of them. He did wish he had his dog with him to roam around, but he knew they would meet up later. Albie had some business to take care of anyway, apparently.

Sneaking up behind Katie, the new lion slid his hands over her eyes and whispered quietly in her ear, "Guess who?". Either he would totally freak her out, or she'd get aggravated that she couldn't see. Either way, it was funny. At least he wasn't making fun of her or something, like a few of their other close friends. He preferred being the peacemaker, with a little fun of course.

"Hey there." she greeted, giving him a soft smile. Melanie glanced sideways, unsure of just what she should say next. "I've seen you around..." she said trailing off. "You're a second year right?" she asked, tilting her head tot he side.

"Mhm, we're cousins." Natasha said with a nod to Melanie. "Oh, and sorry I had to leave on the train." She said before taking a drink.
"Sweet, then you're Nat from now on." she informed her with a grin. Because she was too lazy to say Natasha....it just seemed so long. THREE WHOLE SYLLABLES! Melanie played with a strand off her dark now shiny hair, twirling it around her pointer finger as she pondered the question. "Call me anything you want really, as long as it's not like...offensive or something...or illegal..." she replied thoughtfully.

Ohhh cousins... Melanie glanced at Tazmin again unable to help herself. Makes sense. she thought reasonably. "Oh...I see the resemblance."

"Oh I have news!" she said very excited "My cousin is a wizard too!! But he had to go to a different school" Ana said the last part with a sad voice. But this was a happy, happy day so it's time to be happy and party with her friends!

Suddenly she remembered, where on Earth are Cadence and Jake! "Hey Lanie! Do you know where are Cadence and Jake? Haven't seen them since we left the train!" she said with a confusing face.
"Don't worry bout' it." Melanie answered, giving her friend a reassuring smile. she should be used to it by now anyway, what with her brother and her cat...and she'd actually scared a few people purposefully herself last year so it didn't bug her one bit.

"Oh, good then." Melanie replied, a look of relief on her face as Ana stated Gryffindor had fallen into the negatives as well. First years....that seemed likely. After all, Melanie had been a bit of a chatty firstie last year, but she was determined to change that, even if it did mean she needed to duck tape her mouth shut. Of course it wasn't fair to blame it on the first years right off the bat though...not when you thought of certain ones who had at least attempted to keep the rest of them good and peaceful. "Maybe..." she replied, shrugging.

As Ana told her she had news Melanie perked up, listening intently to what she wanted to say. "That's great!" she replied, honestly, grinning at her. "What other school?" she asked curiously. the second year hadn't heard of any other magical school besides Hogwarts before, and Ana had her full attention.

Cadence and Jake... Melanie glanced around first for Cady trying to find her in the crowd of Hufflepuffs, but it was to no avail...she was no where to be found. Oh well, surely she was here, just lost in all the people or something. "I don't see Cadence..." she replied slowly and then looked about for the second Hufflepuff Ana had asked about, Jake. Again she looked around the Hufflepuff table, figuring her wouldn't have gone for, but she was wrong. Just as Melanie was about to get up and tell Ana he didn't appear to be here either she saw him standing up at the staff table of all places. And he appeared to be quarreling with a teacher?! So not Jake-like. To top things off the teacher happened to be Kameriz ...or something like that....well he was normally just known to her in the little world in the back of her mind as the EVIL teacher. Though she wasn't quite sure he topped Bunz and her EVIL smile, it still wasn't to intelligent of Jake to start an argument with him. Why was he up there to begin with anyway?! Had he done something wrong? Was he arguing with Jack or something? Melanie glanced around briefly for the other Hufflepuff boy, but couldn't find him either...So where was he?! All these questions just waiting to be answered. Siiiiigh... Melanie shifted impatiently in her seat, tempted to go up there and see what was going on, but restrained herself, wanting to avoid Bunbury at all costs and not particularly wanting to get sucked into Jake's drama, whatever it was. He seemed to always be surrounded by drama...

Melanie, slowly bringing herself out of her thoughts and looking back to Ana, blinked. "Umm Jake's up there." she answered, pointing up tot he staff table. Her face still held a rather puzzled look, wondering what in the world Jake could have done...or why, if he hadn't done anything he, was up there.

Humph..."It's okay." she replied, giving her a small smile. "You don't have to be....I guess." Melanie boredly rested her head on her hand, still looking at the staff table out of the corner of her eye with interest. "Sooo...what year are you in?" she asked curiously, looking up at Tazmin. If she'd have to guess she'd probably say...5th or 6th, but as all the old people always say... you could never judge a book by it's cover.

Katie's eyes grew wide, confused for less than a full second as to why and how everything went dark; it quickly clicked that her vision was covered, causing her to scowl. Unless some stranger had mistaken her for someone else, there was only maybe two little wizards she knew here at Hogwarts that would do that, and the voice confirmed her current thoughts exactily. "James, that's not nice!" Katie's disapproval couldn't last long enough, moving his hands from her face the small girl rose carefully from her seat and climbed off the bench to hug the new, taller Gryffindor. It brightened her mood considerably, that Jae came to see her.

"I talked to the Head Girl for a little while on the train ride here, Anna, and she said.. well she wanted me to tell her about something four years from now. Would you help me send her an owl in fourth year?" She asked rather quickly, trying her best not to stumble over her own words and for him to actually be able to make sense of it. Katie was fully aware she left out what updating Anna was about, she had done that part on purpose; not because she couldn't trust him, but because it was an even longer story, not to mention Cy and William were sitting on either side of where she stood.

Tiffany walked towards the now-crowded Hufflepuff table. She gasped at the sight of thousands of Hogwarts pupils, like a multi-coloured ocean. Tiffany sighed, sinking into the only available seat. Food surrouned her, the smells drifting sweetly through her nose, yet she still didn't feel like eating anything. If only her friend Trixie was there, but sadly she was in Gryffindor. Tiffany felt so alone, but so happy at the same time. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of all the magic she was going to learn. She couldn't wait!

Becky sat down quietly. It was her first day ever at Hogwarts and she had no friends. Her fist day ever at Hogwarts and she wanted to go see her sister. She sighed and looked around. She was in her fifth year and yet it was her first ever day at Hogwarts, and she was lonely.

Taryn walked to what seemed to be the Hufflepuff table, since there was more black and yellow than any other colour in it, and went to sit down with a lost look in her face.
Looking around she realized that at least she wasn't the only lost looking student.

They had seven years here after all - that could wait. "I'll help you," She promised, her dark curls bouncing as her head bobbed up and down. Didn't Will know she would want to? He was her friend.. a good friend, he needed help finding something he lost; of course she would be there.

When the thought occurred to ask what they would be looking for, William and Cy had already gotten to that. A baseball hat. "When will we go?" She asked, turning to look at Will this time. In all truth, Kaitlynnh wanted to escape the welcoming feast. She had for quite a while now, actually.
William grinned, "Excellent. I promise we won't go near the Whomping Willow, unless you want too." he said, hoping against hope that his hat wasn't anywhere near the lake. It wasn't that he as afraid of the lake or its surroundings, no it was due to the fact that Barty as he liked to be called loved trying to get things and his hat would make an interesting thing. " I think the best place to start looking would be the entrance hall, I know it's no where near my common room so we're safe there." he explained, knowing the shortest route would be the easiest.

He couldn't help but chuckle as she asked when they'd start. "Anytime really, I really want this hat back." he said shaking his head. It was more sentimental to him than he even realized. And to be honest he wasn't very hungry, though he had eaten his fill over at his table, something he always did. His mother joked that he'd gain a massive amount of weight if he kept at it, but hey he was a growing boy who needed it. "It would be so much easier if I could remember the Summoning Charm but I didn't do too well last term so." he shrugged.

Miranda was good at running as well, but who wouldn't run when someone's broomstick decided to have a life of its own. Even if they found out later on that its owner summoned the broom, but still.

"Football" yes, she's heard that before. It was alright. Nothing beats Quidditch, but all sports were good, even if she wasn't very familiar with them. "Yes, that's nice" she answered, unable to come across something smarter to say about that.

So, the kid must have something against his father. Weird, though. Only Lockharts are bound to do so, considering the name and all the history. "My father used to work with yours, until...well, yes, he worked with yours" leaving Quidditch for the Ministry was a decision Kaika will never understand, but at least her father was back in Quidditch grounds, so, no harm done there.

She couldn't to narrow her eyes this time. The kid was probably up to something, and she didn't like the tone quite a bit. Yes, he was amusing, but he better not mess with Quidditch. "Yes, I am" and I'll feed you to the flutterbies if you become an annoyance. Better yet, to Bunbury, she loves first years who annoy, probably. "Of course we are, what kind of a question is that?! We..." yes, she stopped to think for a moment, memories of a certain Ravenclaw Captain popped into her head, "...were unlucky last term..." and who's to say that she had to give this particular boy any sort of explanation? "...but we're all amazing players..." modesty aside, "...therefore, an amazing team" she said, a wide smile on her face.
“Don’t get too cocky now.” Cy said, leering up at the sixth year mischievously. Of course he didn’t pick up the irony of that statement, because people didn’t get much more cocky than Cy Andrus. The child was oblivious to his flaws for the most part, it was disturbing.

So Teal and her dad worked with each other eh? Small world. Not that Cy even gave a rats rump about his fathers job. Maybe if he dad let him ride a dragon he would, but Teal had already shot down that idea 43 times; Cy’d counted. “I feel sorry for yah’ old man then. Teal’s as mean as cat pee.” Cy’s Aussie slang probably confused more than 80% of these Brits, but by cat pee he mean something like mean, or maybe stingy.

The young Aussie smirked at the mention or their ‘unluckiness’. “There’s no excuse fah’ losin’.” Cy took a sip of his pumpkin juice and looked back up to the ‘captain’, as he STILL didn’t know her REAL name, and shrugged. “No worries though, I’ve nevah’ played Quidditch before but I betcha I pick it up fast. We’ll be winnin’ the chip’ in no time.” He pounded his chest once, but wait… DAMN, he didn’t have a broom. “HOLY DOOLEY MATE! I don’t have me a broom!” The first year crossed his arms in disappointment, so much for playin’ the bloody sport.

"It's blue with a pink rim. Yes I said pink. I like pink, but not a girly pink you know? It's more of a magneta with light pink mixed in." he shrugged, waiting for people to make fun of him. So be it, he knew what he liked. "It's a baseball cap." he added, figuring that would be useful information.
Cy looked to the second year and laughed. “Mate, you shoulda’ come lookin’ for me. I was stuck in a compartment with that broad ovah’ there.” He gestered in the direction of Lyra Noir. She was insanely gorgeous, but she had that some lack of knowledge that ALL girls had.

Raising an eyebrow, Cy laughed slightly. “PINK? Whatevah’ floats your boat mate.” He didn’t care what color people wore, Cy would probably never wear pink though. Definitely not; it didn’t quite suit his gritting personality. “Shouldn’ be too hard to find. If I see somethin’ like it I’ll come find you in a flash.”

Would she be surprised? Absolutely not. Giving him a funny look, Katie's dark orbs rolled towards the ceiling. "Dream on, Cyrus." She said, mumbling something under her breath about boys.

Feigning a sweet smile, Katie looked to Cy, "Whatever helps you sleep at night, Cycy." She said, her tone sugar coated and full of innocence. The little girl poked her tongue out at him, childishly, and then beamed at William. Good, the two did know each other. No need to introduce them or anything of the sorts. The beginning of their conversation did not get left behind, though. Asking quickly, "Why won't you tell me what it means!" Katie frowned at her new fellow Hufflepuff.

Cy’s dark eyes eyed Katie’s dark eyes. “Ah, you think it’s all a joke. You’ll see, you’ll see.” His chuckled as she muttered something about boys under her breath. YAY! He was already getting under her skin.

CyCy. The Aussie was definitely hating that nickname. “I don’t need any help sleepin’ at night Kitty Kat.” He said it jokingly, quite impressed that an alternative nickname for Katie came up so quickly. “Plus, it’s easier to sleep up hear’ in Brittain without all thah’ mozzie’s nippin’ at you all night.” Gah, if there was one thing Cy REALLY hated it was mosquito’s, and they thought his blood was candy. And in the flash of the eye, he’d managed to go completely off-topic.

The brand new Hufflepuff looked back to Katie mischievously, “Probably ‘cause it bugs you so much. One of these days, maybe I’ll be nice.” He wagged his finger in the direction of her pumpkin juice. “You gonna’ drink thah’?” Looked like she hadn’t even touched it.

Some other dude had came up to Katie, apparently they knew each other. Cy watched their intereaction for a brief moment before piping up. “What’s up mate? You a firstie’ as well?” Hopefully he was a Hufflepuff, he might die if he wasn’t.

Melanie, having been watching from the corner of her eye saw very clearly as Kazimeriz used magic on her FRIEND!!! She felt anger bubble up in her stomach, and promptly stood up to go over to Jake. Surely he hadn't merely come up there to socialize if the professor was gluing him to the dias!

Whatever he did though, she was pretty sure he'd had good intentions, he was Jake, and heck if she wasn't going to help him! Her hands, clenched tensely the second year began marching up to the staff table, to either try to get Jake up or ummm....request Kazimeriz moved him. Not that it was likely her request would be granted.

"I'll be back...soon maybe..." she trailed off, throwing the people she'd be speaking with a wave.

Jae chuckled at Katie as she guessed exactly who it was. It was quite obvious though. There was absolutely no way for the Irish boy to disguise his brogue. It was impossible. He was born with it and it would stay that way. "Sorry Katie. Couldn't resist," he said with a wink hugging her back tightly and spinning her around. After he placed her down he smiled. "I did it. Told ya. Knew I'd be in Gryffindor, jus' like Dusty said," he exclaimed as he ran his fingers through his shaggy brown hair.

"An' I see ya got inta' Hufflepuff, jus' like Savs,"
he smiled, nudging Katie lightly. He then sat down at the table, glad to be among friends.

After Katie explained...something...James looked at her in confusion. "Umm...sure I'll 'elp. But wha' exactly are we talkin' 'bout? Can you see into the future or somethin' Katie? This doesn't make much sense." In fourth year? They barely started their first year. How could she even know about something that has not come to pass? The confused eleven-year-old looked back at his friend, hoping she would give him more information to put his racing mind at rest.

Default ATTICUS' AT HOGWARTS! SQUEE! excuse me pro-huffies! he'll understand soon!
ll Achmed's 2nd Keeper ll Team Jacob l l Otaku ll

Shaking from head to foot with nerves, Atticus made his way to the Hufflepuff Table, the house he was newly sorted into. From some error or another, he happened to be the last one to try on the hat. Though, relieved as he was that he hadn't ended up in Slytherin, he was still somewhat disappointed that he hadn't made it to Gryffindor. That was the coolest house, at least, it was to him. They were the heroes, the brave, level-headed leaders. He wasn't entirely sure what Hufflepuffs were. Loyal, caring and whatever, but those qualities usually meant they were followers. Atticus didn't want that. He didn't want to be in the "others" group. Even Ravenclaw would have been better.

Despite his apparent disapproval for Hufflepuff House, Atticus was nervous. Why? He wanted to be liked, to be approved of. To have friends. So, he was terrified. He was also fascinated; the candles floating above his head were great but the ceiling was AMAZING. He could only wish to be able to do that kind of magic. He was s till a little shocked that he was magic. His mum still was as well. Poor dad. He had to go back home to mum knowing that he lied to her again and took Atticus to do something magic. The fight would be huge this time, seeing as how he sent Atticus to school without his mother's knowledge or goodbye.

Atticus stopped halfway down the table, realizing that he still didn't know where he was sitting. Oh noes.

Cocky? Interesting. Look who's talking! But, really, Kaika had to remember the five year difference for crying out loud. She couldn't possibly fight with the boy. However, someone should poke him into the right path. Now she was only hoping that he didn't make them loose points. "Right, right, I won't" her eyes widened yet again when she noticed the POINTS! Minus points?! What on earth?

"I can't believe we're already loosing points" she said, a low whisper to be more accurate. And where were those Prefects that needed to take care of that? Well, the Huffie ones were probably on the other tables...

Huh? Yes, Teal Andrus. She frowned, "Yeah, not really, my father only had nice things to say about him..." or so she remembered, "...you should be proud of him, you know, for having such a nice reputation" or whatever, at least he was no Brennan Cooper. Yet, the last statement confused her a bit, but her previous opinion on how the boy felt about his father grew clearer.

"And who mentioned anything about losing?" an eyebrow was raised. Yes, technically they lost the spot for championship, but they won third place. So, there! They'd won, not lost. Oooh, never played Quidditch. Amazing! This reminded her of precious little Jake, which also reminded her that she had no idea where he was. "You must try out, then...perhaps you're a natural at Quidditch" like Jake. Hopefully. Kaika laughed when he mentioned the broom, "It's all fine, really, first years get to use a school broom..." ha, a smirk was on her face, "...those aren't as fast..." as the Silver Arrow I own, "...but they're pretty good" she nodded, "So, no need to worry about that, just worry about not falling off the broom" Kaika said, and yes, she was still aware that her name was not clarified, but he'll find out soon enough, right?

And...what was with him? "Ummm, hi" she said, tilting her head to one side, "Are you...lost?" well, the kid seemed to be lost, and since there was no one to ask him that, better to place him in the right table from the start.

"You're in Hufflepuff, right?" unless she didn't hear right, the boy belonged in this table. But still, it's better to check.

Atticus looked at the girl who spoke to him nervously. "Hi," he squeaked timidly, noting the fact that she seemed to be several years older than him. He nodded his head vigorously in reply to her question. "Yes! I-I just don't know anyone at Hogwarts yet!" he continued, still nodding like a 'bobble-head'. It was on one of these nods that he noticed something glinting on the robes of the girl. Captain? Of...Atticus racked his brains, attempting to remember what the wizard sport was called. Lyra was growing angry the longer she sat at the table. Her friend Rob had been completely hurt but that rat of a girl, Mari. And to think she thought the girl was nice last year...but this year was a different story. She needed something to make her happy, she needed something to bring her spirits up.

Her eyes ventured around the Great Hall until they landed on Banana. "That's it," she mumbled to herself as she stood up and quickly ran over towards the Gryffindor Table as the Head Girl seemed to be making her way from the staff table back to her House table.

Cassadee was in a mood. She was grumbling, with brows furrowed. She didn't know a single soul here. All of her friends had left for Beauxbaton, where all the rich and shmancy-fancy people were going. But of course, Cassadee - nor her family - were. So, she was stuck at Hogwarts. Which, if you asked her, was like going to a public school, which was dirty and gross and smelly.

Then again, who asked her?

Pausing, Cassadee frowned. Hey... wasn't that kid the little scrounger who had pelted her with a booger-flavored jelly bean just the other week? Frowning, with her arms crossed, she tapped her toes, trying to decide if she knew the kid. She spent a good two minutes, staring at the kid intently, and decided that maybe talking to him would work better than just standing there and staring, since there were giant older children all over the place. Bah.

With a light stride, she walked over to him and tapped his shoulder, frowning. "Do I know you?" She asked. Well, it sounded kind of rude, but it wasn't that bad. She could have tackled him to the ground and ripped him to shreds before asking, so this was politer than usual.

Looking to another voice, one that had an interesting accent like his, Jae smiled and held out his hand for a shake. "Yea, I'm a firstie," he answered. "I'm Jae. Jae Maguire. How d'you an' Katie know eachotha'?" he asked curiously.
This guy talked funny, well, everyone talked funny to Cy. He hadn’t met another Aussie YET, but this guy sounded different than the rest… which made Cy feel like he could identify with this kid. “Bonzah!” The eleven year old exclaimed, excited that they were the same year. Jae, eh? Cool enough name. “Nice tah’ meet you mate. Me’ names Cy, jus’ for future reference.” He didn’t feel like waiting on him asking what his name one. Impatience was Cy’s virtue.

At the guys question, Cyrus’ brown eyes scanned over to Katie. “OH? You mean Sistah’ Sledge ovah’ there?” Cyrus laughed slightly, “Geez, I don’t know mate. How DID we meet Katie?” Yes, he used her name. He had to at some point or another, well, it wasn’t going to be a usual occurance.

Points? What in the blazes was this broad talking about? Cy had really not idea at all. “What ah’ you talkin’ about? I don’t see a Quidditch Pitch around here, you must be bloomin’ crazy.” Cy stood up on the bench to get a better vantage point of the enormous room, but no, he saw no brooms, therefore he sat back down.

The newly instated Hufflepuff grimaced slightly. “You dun’ know the bloke like I do.” He stated it flatly in a ‘don’t ask’ type of tone. It was too long of a story and it put him in a downright FOWL mood.

Conversation back to Quidditch, Cyrus grinned wryly. “Of course I’ll be a natural.” He stated it like it was already a fact, written down in a book, or something. If Cy wasn’t good at it… then that would be a nightmare. BUT, all problems were resolved… the school could hook him up with something. “I don’t know about you, but I don’t a flashy broom to make me bettah’. I’ll handle just fine.” Cy smugly took a sip out of his pumpkin juice. He’d flown a broomstick on a few occasions, he was decent at it… he definitely needed to hone his skills though. Falling OFF the broom though? Cy’s brown eyes widened, “Crikey mate, has that evah’ happened?” That would hurt.

Then another little kid appeared, and the bloke was pretty impressed by the fact that ‘Captain’ (as he knew her so far…) was ‘Captain’. He had a lot of energy though, and Cy liked to see that. None of that shy, awkward stuff that moderately bugged him. “What’s up mate?” Cy shouted across the table, “I see you’ve met thah’ Captain. It’s apparently her name.” Cy leered at Captain, if he had to call her that the rest of the term he’d brake something important.

Oh, how cute. This was a lovable first year. Or so he seemed to be. "Well, now you know me" she smiled and certainly hoped that this boy didn't turn out to be like Cy at any rate, or she might as well stop talking to new students, especially first years, to be more precise.

Not that Cy was...someone she couldn't talk to, but dear Merlin, he was clearly his own person.

Uh-Oh. What was this unforeseen reaction? Kaika followed the boy's eyes and...oh, of course, the badge. How come Cy couldn't see it? Either way, her smile widened, "Why, yes, young man, I am" she said, with a nod. "You mean the quaffle? Not precisely, I've blocked them before, but I am a Beater...and, well, not really Blooders, more like Bludgers...but, yes, I hit those" her smile couldn't be bigger, she wanted Quidditch to start like...NOW. But she knew she had to wait.

By now, Kaika didn't know what was better, the cocky boy seating in the table, the shy new students, or this flashy one. And since she didn't like receiving too much attention, she was probably better with the shy ones, but this boy was still sort of cute, in his own way.

So much energy! Yep, a first year. "Well, it's great to meet you Atticus!" she responded and thought about introducing herself properly, but then that will give her name away to Cy, and that was something she didn't intend on happening right now. "And...congratulations on becoming a Hufflepuff" because there's no greater house, right?

Huh? What? Quidditch Pitch? What was this boy talking about? Crazy?! I'll show you crazy! Oh, wait, he doesn't know? "Points" she said firmly, "House Points" where were the Prefects? Weren't they the ones supposed to be explaining this to the new students? Probably not, who knows...

"Whichever House has the most points wins the House Cup" she shrugged, Hufflepuff had to win it this year, because the Quidditch Cup was already in their hands, no? "There are two Cups, the House one and the Quidditch one" and neither were won by them last year. Things will be different this time around, "Oh, and Gobstones...but that doesn't have a Cup...I don't know...I've never played that" because Quidditch was always in her head.

Well, that's an understatement. Of course Kaika didn't know his father the way he did. Actually, she didn't know him at all, so...

Flashy broom? Kaika's eyes narrowed. Was this kid really trying out? He's going to be tiring her until death. But, it will be fun to see what happens when two big egos collide. "Yes, the broom doesn't make the player...I know that...I've said that before" and she could easily recall the conversation. It was precisely on a Start-of-term Feast in a quite-silly conversation with her former Captain Punz. Butterbeer and Firebolts got together somehow. "What? Yes, people fall off more often than you know" and it happened last term, so, this one better watch it.

"Yes, that's my name...Captain" she eyed Cy, that's how he'll know her...until fate decides otherwise...or until sign-ups start...if he chooses to try out.

Katie smiled, noticing William had given her the choice of whether or not they would go by the large, naturally defensive tree that could easily swish anyone into a pulp without needing a second go. "I'm not afraid of it, I don't mind eitherway." She gave a slight nod as he suggested where they should go first, though she couldn't actually picture any of the places herself. The eleven year old was rather excited to explore her surroundings, as long as it wasn't alone.

"Okay." Once again she nodded, showing she understood. Her quiet voice might not be so easily heard over the loud chatter filling the great hall, but Katie wasn't thinking of that. When could they leave? Didn't they have to wait until some speech was made? Urgh. Waiting. Not her strong point. "I'm sure that's not true, Willie. You're a good wizard." She assured the Ravenclaw, the look of disbelief on her face made it clear she didn't believe her friend could have done badly in his own first year here.

Kitty Kat? Uh-uh. That flew with her as well as a broken broomstick. Not at all. Her arms crossed moodly over her chest, glaring at the first year boy. Didn't he know she didn't accept nicknames? Only SARAH could call her Kat. And last time she checked, Cy wasn't a seventh year Gryffindor GIRL named Sarah Corner. Lower her tone, Katie murmured warningly "Do not call me that Cyrus." though caught rather off guard by what he said afterward, for once his accent threw her off into pure confusion. But because she was not quite happy with him, she didn't bother asking what he said and settled for an inquiring look.

Him. A boy. Be nice. Riiight. How'd he get into Hufflepuff anyway?! "I'll find out eventually." Katie stated confidently, brushing off her frustration with him to try appear cool and collect, like she didn't care. Because really she did, and her feathers were ruffled, so to speak. Shooting the goblet he pointed to a quick glance, Kaitlynnh shook her head, "It's pumpkin juice. You can have it." She answered, as if that explained it all.

The small dark haired girl shrugged her little shoulders, not bothered by Jae's way of greeting really, despite her reaction it was easily brushed away and 'forgotten' about, as if it never happened. The young irish lad was harmless in her dark chocolate colored eyes, he was playful and kind and level headed with her and she was greatful for that. A small smile began to play on her lips when he brought up the house he was sorted into, "Everyone will be so proud!" and not at all surprised. James was alot like Dusty in a way, different in others too. A lion through and through, for sure.

Resuming herself at the Hufflepuff table with Cy and Will and now Jae, Jae being on her left side now as she claimed the seat beside him, Katie's smile grew at the mention of her older sister. Savannah would be happy to hear this bit of news, she couldn't wait to write her a letter. "Well yeah! Why wouldn't I have?" She asked jokingly, poking the boy's arm. "Just because I might have abit less patience than Savs doesn't mean I don't have an inner Badger in me."

When the puzzled young boy finished, Katie was struggling to control her giggling. "See the future? That would be fantastic, I would ace Divination without any trouble!" She teased, poking her tongue out playfully and smiled again. "I met the current Head Girl, her names Anna. We talked and she asked me to tell her about something that she thinks will-" The small girl paused, biting on her lip as she tried considering how to explain without hinting at the topic of their conversation. "-grow, or progress, by the time we're in fourth year. She asked me to promise I would write to her then," Katie said, her gaze never leaving Jae, hoping he understood to some extent that she was picking and chosing her words and there was a reason behind it. Quickly remembering he agreed to help her, she threw her arms around his neck again adding, "Thank you! Your the bestest ever."

Releasing Jae, Katie twisted where she sat to see who was here and to whom the question was being directed to. Her eyebrows rose, dark eyes glancing back to meet twilight blue ones for a mere moment and then back to the new girl. She was blunt, not quite rude, but not polite either. Her smile fading, the small girl reached a hand up to brush back a stray curl from her face. "I doubt it." She replied flatly, knowing perfectly well the question was not meant for her.

"How dare he did this to me?" Alice fumed after a brief visit to the staff table. He had insulted her in first place..then he caused the points deduction from her house. Five points. Only 'cuz of him. He provoked her. He is mean..

Alice turned to George who looked confused over her sudden mood change. "I'm upset George. I made a mistake." she burried her face in her hands.

"Tha' accent ya got there is bleedin' deadly," Jae said with a smile. "Where ya from? Australia er somethin'?" he asked. He was glad there was another kid here that had a strange accent like his. He knew they'd be able to relate to each other quite easily that was. "Cool name as well. I assume tha's short for...Cyrus?" Truth be told, James was quite educated for his age. He knew a lot of useless things that other eleven-year-olds wouldn't even bother knowing. He was more of a hear-it, learn-it kind of child.

"Sistah' Sledge? Where on earth didja ge' tha' name from?" he chuckled. That was not one of Katie's normal nicknames. Oh well. There was always room for something new, right? Jae liked change. just not too much of it at the same time.

Jae smiled, glad at Katie's enthusiasm to his sorting into the house of his choice. He knew Dusty would be proud of him, as would the rest of his family, even those who did not attend Hogwarts. His father would definitely be excited seeing as Gryffindor was his old house. He couldn't wait to send him an owl. He should probably do that soon...After he picked up Albie from the dormitory of course.

"Ya're righ' 'bout tha' Kates. If ya weren't in Hufflepuff, I dunno wha' house ya'd be in," he chuckled, placing an arm around her shoulders and giving them a light squeeze.

"Somethin' tha'll progress as the years pass by?" James said with a puzzled expression. He had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. His gaze never left hers as he thought and thought, but he came up with nothing. What could it be? Why would the head girl tell Katie about it? He then realized that she was saying as little as possible because they were in front of other people. His mouth formed an 'O' shape and he quickly stopped acting like it was a big deal. "We'll talk 'bout it more lata' then?" he said a bit quieter than before.

"Of course I'll 'elp ya. Why else am I yer friend?"
the lion smiled. He felt at some times he could bring out different sides of Katie, sides that the other boys could not. Perhaps that was just his mentality, but he was going to stick to that.

Who was Katie talking to? He heard a voice and turned.

Upon hearing another voice, one that sounded a bit accusing, Jae's twilight blue eyes met the owner of that voice quite quickly. "No, I don't believe I do. Why on earth would you think I do? And why would ya ask me in such a tone?" he asked. The young boy knew how to hold a proper conversation, and how to keep his cool. That was one of his gifts, if you dared to call it one.

So why did this girl come over to him? Did she mistake him for someone else? And if she wasn't sure if she knew him or not, why would she ask in such a tone? It didn't make any sense to Jae, but maybe she had an explanation. He was eager to hear it.

Cassadee shrugged. "I've never seen you in the first place." She replied to the girl, shaking her head, wild curls and pink streaks flying. She paused, however, and focused on the boy. "But you -" She said, pointing a finger at the boy and squinting, crossing her arms now. "You look like that kid in Diagon Alley. The one who threw the chewed-up jelly bean at me." She frowned, brows bunched together in a straight line.

"You look like the kid. A bit taller than me, brown hair. Slightly clefted chin." She repeated, studying him carefully. "He had freckles though. And a pet weasel." She frowned again, crossing her arms, black knee-high lace-up Dr. Marten boot toes tapping the ground.

The fact that the confusing older girl called them house points did not make ANY more sense to the young Aussie. He merely looked at her like she was a borderline psychopath. “Yah’ makin’ no sense Sheila.” However, as she started to explain his dark brown eyes locked on in concentration.

It was starting to all make moderate sense, but there were still some missing pieces. He rubbed his chin dramatically, “’Ight then, how do you even get thah’ bloody points tah’ begin with?” Surely it wasn’t TOO difficult, nothing was too difficult for Cyrus the Great. The only thing that proved difficult was taming females, but Cy had decided that such a task was literally IMPOSSIBLE. “No mattah’, I’ll see to it thah’ we win it all. No one on my team comes second best you hear? No one!” Cy nodded confidently, it was how things were.

‘Captain’ stated that she recognized that the room didn’t make the player… it was true. Cy raised his pumpkin juice in a sort of ‘CHEERS!’ notion. “Couldn’t ‘ave said it bettah’ me’self. Maybe yah’ do have a brain in that noggin’ o’ yours.” The first year laughed and sipped from his raised cup. It was too bad that they didn’t serve butterbeer at these things.

Back to falling of brooms, Cy’s expression faded to just a bit more somber. “No way mate! I wish I coulda’ seen that. I bet bones were stickin’ out every which way. Quidditch is a rippa’ of a sport.” It was true, he nodded at this. He was more keen on seeing others fall off brooms, he preferred not to think of that happening to himself. He’d just practice some; all would be well. Duh.

Cy eyed her again. One of these days she’d slip up and he’d catch her blasted name. ONE OF THESE DAYS!

Shooting the goblet he pointed to a quick glance, Kaitlynnh shook her head, "It's pumpkin juice. You can have it." She answered, as if that explained it all.
The eleven year old grinned that trademark wry grin. So she didn’t like that nickname EITHER. In his mind, he did a very loud, deep, and evil laugh. “Right, but only because you said thah’.” His tone was sarcastic and he saluted her, grinning all the same.

OH no, she’d never find out if Cy had anything to do with it. “Keep on dreamin’ Kitty,” He slapped his hand over his mouth in mock-shock, “I MEAN KATIE! Mustah’ slipped.” He said, trying his best to put on an innocent face.

AWESOME! He was really thirsting, and the fact that Katie didn’t like pumpkin juice worked well to his advantage. “AH, thanks Katie.” The Aussie said genuinely, hopefully she didn’t drink out of it at all… he didn’t want her germs. “You see, you must be insane or somethin’. What kind of wacked out pahson doesn’t like PUMPKIN JUICE?” It was blasphemy!

Ok, so it was official… Cy thought this dude was awesome. “Yeah mate! Aussie fed, Aussie bred. Straight from down undah’.” Cy brushed off his shoulder to at emphasis to the importance. Obviously this Jae bloke was from somewhere else as well, “You’ve gotta’ ripper of an accent as well, where you comin’ from mate?” Cy chugged a large portion of Katie’s pumpkin juice and set it down. The eleven year old nodded fervently, “Yup, Cyrus is the longah’ version of it. Call me eithah’, doesn’t mattah’ to me.” Cy was easier to say, but Cyrus made him sound like he was king of the earth. So until he ruled the world, going by Cy would be just fine.

AHHH, everyone wanted to know the secret of Sister Sledge. Cy grinned mischievously to Jae and dropped his tone a bit. “I’ll tell you latah’ mate, Katie ovah’ there might try to listen in. That’d be bad news bears.” If she found out, she’d be satisfied. THAT, would not be good.

Who on earth is Sheila?! Yes, this kid had mental issues. "No, I'm not Sheila...I'm...Captain" but surely, Kaika could've come with a much better answer than that, something mentioning the fact that she was making sense, or some sense. Either way, the boy was listening now.

So, he enjoyed winning. Grin. "Well, for starters, you don't mess with the Captain, me, in this case, nor the Prefects, which I don't know where they are" lie, she knew where one of the Prefects was, but simply didn't want to look his way. What for? She wasn't speaking to him at this moment. Right now Cy had her full attention. And the Atticus boy as well. "You earn points by doing your homework, participating in class, helping Professors and the Groundskeeper with whatever task you can help them with" and what else, what else, "And...well, being a great student overall" a nod, "The important thing is that you do NOT lose them" her face was serious this time, and...lookit!...someone lose 5 more points..."Be respectful to Professors and don't get in trouble...that's a nice way of NOT losing points" someone should warn him about Kazimeriz, but it was better if he got to figure that one out all by himself. Better. Much better.

Kaika shook her head, "There's no need to be louder than the table...I hear you perfectly fine" she said, maybe it was the excitement of competition that got to the boy, but still, she was standing right there, "I must say, it's a good thing that you want to win it all" maybe he'll behave. Yet, some things are better left unsaid.

And she rolled her eyes. Of course she had a brain. Oh, this year was going to be a long one, wasn't it? At least he liked pumpkin juice. That's a start.

The broom incident, "Yes, but there's nothing the nurse can't heal..." except death, then again, no one can, "...so, the boy was alright" well, he died later on in the Library but that wasn't Quidditch-related, so, no point in bringing it up. "I'm pretty sure all first years have a flying class before tryouts" hopefully.

"Do you like chocolate? Or chocolate frogs, Cy?" she asked, out of nowhere.
