"Oh, Really?" Eva made a rethorical question, being as much sarcastic as she could be about it. "I guess I hadn't realize it yet." she sontinued in the same tone.
When she looked back at her friend, her expression was different. Calm. Resigned.
"Yeah, I miss him... But life goes on." she stated. "I know that." if there was something her father's death had taught her, it had been that. LIfe goes on for the living, so enjoy it as much as you can.
That was something her bestfriend would learn, and soon, Eva hoped.

Sarah who had been sat on a chair suddenly saw the water. "eww this is gross." She said as she looked at her shoes and quickly put her books back in her bags. "Professor look at my shoes there ruined." She cried as she started to stare at the water. "This is so unfair." She said as she took one shoe out of the water to see if it could be saved. To her eyes it didn't look like it, she looked down at the water it was definitely raising maybe she should get out of there before it became any higher. She saw this girl she had never met. "I think we should go." she thought they should go didn't she know they should go.

Melanie walked into the common room, deciding she needed to do some of the homework she'd been putting off, intent on going straight to her dorm. There always seemed to be soemthing dramatic going on in the common room. Something she didn't want to get involved in...Melanie shivered as she felt cool water up against her ankles, thinking it must just be her imagination...the Hufflepuff common room didn't have water in it...not unless it was in a glass...

Melanie glanced down, wanting to look to be sure, seeing the water she'd been feeling, and couldn't help but let out a small squeak. She didn't like water, she was a bad swimmer...Melanie was deathly afraid of large amounts of it.

The girl wrapped her arms around herself, shivering a bit...though she wasn't sure if she was cold of just afraid. She looked, wide eyed, down at the boy who seemed to have fainted...Really? Was the Huffie common room like the best spot for a person to fall unconscious? The first day of school, a first year had fainted and now this. Geez...that had to be terrifying, especially when there was water everywhere...but the professor seemed to have it under control...Thank Merlin. She was just thankful it wasn't her.

Hearing the professor's orders Melanie started toward the door ready to get well out of there, but somethign she saw on the way out stopped her in her tracks.

Right but while other people were fainting, others were busy flipping out over there shoes. Wacko. Normally Melanie wouldn't have been so bitter, but she was afraid, she couldn't help it. "Why," Melanie began, staring at the girl skeptically. "In the world would you care. We gotta go or- or like we're all gonna die!" she informed her promptly.

Oh no. She wasn't panicking at all. Nope, not her.

Sarah looked at the girl. "But my shoes, they were brand new." She cried, they had been the last thing that her mother had bought her. "And my socks they are ruined." She looked at the girl. "They are doomed, doomed I tell you." She was sad what on earth was happening, in the last school she went to nothing like this had happened. "I wonder if there is a charm I could use." She quickly looked at the water, maybe she should think about that later. "what with this little bit of water?" She asked. "But I think maybe you are right we should go." She looked. "But where do we go to?"

Melanie stared at her a mixture of puzzlement and disdain evident on her features. Really?! she was still freaking out over her shoes. Rolling her eyes, Melanie proceeded to try and calm her down. It was better than yelling at her for freaking out anyway. "They can probably be fixed by magic." Melanie assured her. Doomed? Melanie was worrying about her own doom...not the girl's socks. Oh Merlin! Her shoes were probably ruined too and they were the ones Shana had given her...

Darnit, that was just cold hard evidence water was evil. Pure evil.

Except for the drinking variety of course...

"I'm sure there's a charm out there you could use on them." she added at the girl's comment, absentmindedly.

Melanie's jaw dropped...little bit of water, PFFFtttt it was up to, like, her ANKLES! "Yeah...umm this could devour us." Melanie told her "Like a big monster and then eat us an- and then before you know it you're dead allll because you were more worried about your shoes than yourself." Melanie continued, truly believing every word she was saying. How could she not?!

Wait...what? Melanie looked around for a place to go. Surely the corridor was already flooded by now... "OH MY GOSH there's no where to gooo! WE are gonna die!" she howled, looking around for the professor again, but her eyes found the prefect.

"Vannnnnie!" she said, trying to get her attention. "Where do we go?" she asked her urgently.

It only seemed logical to go to the corridor...and get out, but Melanie had reasoned there'd be water awaiting them there too...

After making sure that the girls in the dormintory knew that they had to get out, Vanessa made her way back down to the common room, although that meant leaving behind her nice designer shoes in her trunk. Nice, but she needed to see past it, to make sure her hufflepuff's would be okay.
As she sloshed down the stairs, she noticed two girls talking. "Hey girls...just go to the great hall...." She nodded, glancing at Professor Lawson, to see if she was correct. "or...somewhere dry" She smiled at them. They were all going to be fine, sure they would be.

Sarah looked at Melanie. "Hi, I'm Sarah Winchester." She said, fat lot of goods names where when they were about to die. "My shoes and socks are dead." she cried. "And how on earth are we going to get out of here when there is water everywhere, there's no excape from it and even if we do get out of here how do we know there isn't more water on the outside of this door." She asked she was scared now, she wasn't sure what to do and the girl seemed to be sure she was going to die. "Vanessa, what can we do?" She looked at the Prefect. When the Prefect said about somewhere dry where was that, they would have to walk down this corridor at least. "I can't do it." She cried, now she was scared. "Okay maybe I can." She hoped she could.

Oh. They were panicking. She didn't need this, they really needed to get out of here, especially if they were panicking now. What would they do if it got any higher? And she didn't really want to be in here if it did get any higher.
"You need to get out of here, into the corridor, and then up onto the ground floor guys." Vanessa nodded, working in her head. It wasn't that bad, but it was probably worse with the water.

"Sarah you can do this." Vannie nodded with a smile. She had to do it. "We can sort your socks and shoes when you're out of the water." She added, hoping that her shoes wouldn't be ruined either. They were her favourtie shoes! "If you and Melanie go together. I'm sure you'll be fine."

"I'M HERE! I HAVE MY THINGGGGGSSSSSS!"

Lyra came running out...well not running...but she was still in her yellow Hufflepuff pajamas as she didn't have time to change. The only thing she had time for was what she was carrying in her arms. Stacks of clothing and shoes and letters.

"I'm Melanie, Melanie Lockhart." Melanie informed her, giving the girl a polite nod and trying to act calm. She sucked at acting calm though, when surrounded by water.

Oh, well, at least she'd made a new friend before her death came.

OHMYGOSH!!! The Winchester girl was starting to get on her nerves. "Shoes and socks can't die!" she informed her curtly, rolling her hazel eyes once more. When were these people going to learn, the only inanimate object that had feelings were plants... and they were the only ones that could die too?!

She'd kill for one of those giant lilypads right around now. Siiiigh.

Melanie did agree with Sarah at her next comment though. Melanie nodded as she asked Vanessa how they were supposed to go through all that water, saying she didn't want to go. "Me neither. I don't want to. Don't make me go." Melanie said nervously, now clinging to the prefects robes. She bit her lip as she listened to their escape route still not wanting to go without Vanessa or one of the older students.

But no Vanessa wasn't gonna escort them...she wanted her to go with the Sarah girl...

She was petrified where she was and was afraid that if she moved that the water would come up and swallow her whole. "I'm scared..." she admited, eyeing water once more. what if there was more out side and it was only out there waiting...plotting how to gobble them up?

Sarah looked at Melanie. "Shoe and socks can die." she said as she lifted one of her shoes out of the water and smiled. "See looked at that." suddenly she lost her footing and grabbed hold of Melanie as she started to fall. "Spalsh." She had fallen completely into the water, she got back up and looked at the cried. "Stupid water." she said as she took out her frustration on a chair. "This is just so stupid." She cried. "Vanessa I can't do this." she cried as she clung to the Prefect.

Vanessa couldn't help but smile a little as she heard a voice she recognised. "Lyrraa." She midget puff, turned to find her holding all her clothes. And her shoes.
"Oh...my shoes." She pouted a little. Great.



"Acck!" Vanessa neardly fell over as she two girls clinged too her. No! She couldn't fall over. She didnt want to get that wet! She cringed as the girls clung to her. oh they really were scared. And Vannie still needed to make sure that all the other hufflepuffs got out.
Oh. Where are Dominic Denton when she needed him.
"Girls. You have to do it. This water is probably going to rise more. And you need to get out. I know that it's scary, but the quicker you get out the less scary it will be." Vanessa nodded, hoping that the girls wound stop clinging to her.

"It's not that far...and you do it all the while." She smiled, glancing back at Lyra, surely her fellow pink lady. "Lyra...a little help?"

Tiffany quickly picked her things up, stuffing them into her bag, which was now so full it looked like it would burst any minute. She smiled at the girl who had come over to help her. "Thanks" she mumbled, slinging the bag over her shoulder. "I'm Tiffany" she said, grinning. It was getting easier to talk to people. Being surrounded by people just like herself every day was definitely lifting her confidence. "Yeah, I'm..." She couldn't find the right to describe her feeling right now. Bored? Tired? Confused? Stressed? "I'm fine" She said finally. Lying was always easier. "Are you okay?" She asked. Jeez. Why did she always sound so stupid in front of other people?

Sarah who was wet though after her fall into the watch looked at the Prefect and stopped clinging to her, "Okay I think I can do this." She said slowly putting one foot in front of the over and slowly making her way to the door. She wondered where Melanie was. She turned round to look at the Prefect. "I'll do this for you." She said as water dripped from her head and her clothes. She quickly looked at her hair and so that it was in a mess. "Even my hair is a total mess." She cried, that was it she officaly hated water.

"NuH-uh." Melanie argued, oh-so-maturely, poking her tongue out as Sarah argued with her. "They. Can. Not." she debated, crossing her arms over her chest.

The one plus about this argument was that at least it was keeping her mind off the water a bit-

"AHHH!" Melanie squealed loudly as the Sarah girl knocked her into the water. Of course, Melanie thought this had been on purpose...and she'd still had her tongue out.

Melanie plunged into the dirty lake water, receiving a mouthful of the foul tasting liquid, she came back out from underneath the stuff, shivering continuously, as she spit the water out. "EWWW." Melanie wiping off her mouth and trying to stand up again. "Just because you disagreed with me doesn't mean you had to go and dunk me in the water." Melanie said sadly, frowning as she squeezed the water out of her hair, tromping her way back over to the prefect, this time just standing by her side, soaked and shivering.

Melanie blinked as Vannie said they had to as in like Mandatory as in like...

Gulp.

She was gonna DIIIIE if she didn't.

She also stated the water was going to rise more, which was absolutely terrifying the little second year before her. It was already high enough for her liking...and it wasn't even that high.

But as Sarah began to make her way toward the door, Melanie took a deep breath deciding that if that girl could do it so could she but just then...

Then Melanie watch as two cats went by in the water, splashing the filthy water up into her face as they thrashed their paws about, trying to stay above the current. She immediately recognized the first as Momo, her own cat, picking him up and letting him lean against her shoulder. The second cat was smaller and less furry and-

LOLCAT! Jake's kitty! Melanie bit her lip as she picked up the other cat, using her other hand, the big threatening Momo hissing down at it as he dug his claws into her shoulder, Lolcat, doing the same, without the hissing part of course.

"Ouch." the girl whispered to herself, her grip tightening on both cats so they didn't try to jump away into the water, not that that seemed so likely of an event....but hey anything could happen.

Oh no. Wait. Jake had TWO pets. Not just Lolcat...he also happened to own...

A baby tarantula.

A baby tarantula named Charlie, who couldn't swim. Melanie, flipping out at this point walked slowly back over to Vanessa, cats still clinging to her robes which slowed her down. "Vanessa!" she said, to earn her attention again. "I have to save Charlie!" she informed her, a concerned expression on her face. Sure, she despised the little creature, like all spiders, but she couldn't help but imagine the expression on Jaker's face as he realized his baby tarantula had drowned. "He's in the boys dorm. I don't think Jake's in there..." Melanie told her, forgetting all plan of escaping once again.

And than a thought struck her...Vanessa couldn't get the baby tarantula but she knew someone who could. "Dominiiiiiic." she yelled, looking anxiously around the flooded common room, on the verge of tears, for the male prefect. Or any guy in fact that would be willing retrieve the baby tarantula from the boy's dorm... Poor little Charlie.

Ah and while she was worrying about a baby tarantula to her disapproval Sarah happened to still be worrying about her hair. Hmpf. People these days.

Rhea returned to the common room after sitting out by the lake in the rain for a while. Her face was not only wet from the rain but from tears.

Her puffy red eyes gave it away though. She walked in her head hung in sorrow. Why was he doing this? Why was he abandoning her?

Already soaked, she didn't realize that she was wading in water up to her knees, nor would she care even if she realized. Nothing mattered anymore..

It wasn't until she heared the loud muttering and panicked striken voice of her fellow huffies that she snapped out of her reverie and realized that her common room was flooding.
Great..just what she needed...more water...here she was drowning in sorry...and here came the water to drown her physically. Pathetic fallacy much. She groaned and made her way through the water, heading to the girl's dormitory to gather as much of her things as possible.
All her school and quidditch books were up there and she wasn't about to lose them to icky flood water.

Wesley was going to do what Wesley did best: RUN AWAY. Running madly from the girl's common room, she slipped in the water.

"AHHHH!!" It was so wet! And slimy!! Okay, maybe not slimy, but it seemed like it. Pulling herself up, she shook her wet hair, but it stayed firmly glued to her forehead. Letting out a small whimper of impatience and anxiety, Wesley pulled the tangled dark hair away from her face. I need to get out of here! I NEED TO GET OUT!!!

Sloshing her way to the exit, a little slower than before, she ran into an unfamiliar girl. "Hey! We need to get out now!" she said urgently, her shyness disappearing in the midst of survival.

But the girl must not have heard her. She was heading towards the common room! THERE WAS NO TIME!!! Who knew how fast the water was going to climb?

Wesley wanted out now! She didn't want to drown!! For a second, she considered leaving the girl and exiting to safe ground. She's older. She knows what she's doing. Right? RIGHT? Yes...but-Wait! What if she doesn't know what she's doing, what if she drowns, what if she dies????? All alone. In the water. Dead. And I'll have killed her!!! I WOULD HAVE LET HER DIE! Wesley couldn't leave that girl behind. She couldn't just abandon someone.

Biting her lip, the tiny first year turned back around.

"No! You can't go now! Leave it!!!" Wesley pleaded, stumbling after the girl.

We're all going to die!

Vanessa smiled at Sarah. "You can do it. And I'll come to make sure your okay when we're all out okay?" Vanessa nodded, as she glanced around the common room, she needed to make sure that everyone else was getting out.
"I don't know where Dom is Melanie." Vannie sighed, cringing. Where was he? "But I'm sure Jake's pet will be fine....he'll get out." Vanessa nodded, as she noticed someone going to the girls common room!


"Hey!" Vanessa shouted, shaking her head, as she sloshed towards the girl. "You can't go up there." She managed to get to the stairs to the dormitory's before her.
"Everyone is getting out. Your not going back up there. You'll be able to get your stuff replaced." Vanessa nodded, hoping the girl wasn't just going to push past her. "Whats more important you getting out safe or getting our books?"

Sarah was woken from her snooze on the sofa by the sound of raised voices.Poking her head over the back she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and looked around. "Hey guys,what's going on?" Turning in her seat she put her feet down on the floor with the intention of getting up,only for water to suddenly cover most of her lower legs. "What the heck?!?! Don't tell me it's rising again?!" she screeched,suddenly now wide awake.
Leaping up,Sarah grabbed the bottom of her robes to stop them getting any wetter.Wading nearly knee deep she made her way towards the exit of the common room. "Prefect Corbette....do we need to take anything with us? Or go anywhere? Coz I left my bag upstairs!" She didn't want to panic because that wouldn't do any good.The poor Hufflepuff's were now feeling what the Slythies felt a couple of weeks ago....this was not good.Where were they going to stay?!

Sarah was still scared as she slowly started to leave to common room. "I think we should have worn our swimming gear." She giggled as she finaly left the common room, turning back for one last time to see the mess the water was doing. "I can't believe this." She cried as she left the room so that the Professor could do what she wanted to do. "Okay Vanessa, I'll see you soon." She said looking at the Prefect before leaving the room.

Rhea turned to look at the younger girl who was pleading with her to not go get her books...her precious books
The girl looked truly terrified, but why? It was just water.

She groaned and stopped looking down at the first year.
"It won't take me thirty seconds to just grab my books and get back," she said quietly. Not wanting to add to the chaos around. She felt completely calm, except for the fact that she had a desperate urge to go get her book.

Again someone was shouting instructions at her. She turned to look at who had called to her. The house prefect. Great now she had to leave her stuff. What was more important though? She really didn't feel like leaving her stuff but she shrugged in reply to the prefect.
"I guess I'll leave them..." she replied dryly. She took the first year's hand wanting to help her to wade her way to the common room door, where other panicking huffies were scrambling through.

Juliet came in the common room with her skateboard and immediatly soaked her feet. Woah. Where did this come from? She looked around at the soaked kids. Jeez. You all look like you went through a storm. She laughed.

His feet were WET...why he'd ventured down here when he knew about the flooding was beyond him. He was only looking for her. Maybe he should of thought ahead and left his shoes somewhere else. Why he was even looking for Sarah he didn't know. Not bothering to give the password when he reached the door, because a student was just walking out he made his way into the room. Stepping down the steps he found himself knee deep in water, and groaned. Remind me again why I'm doing this? He thought to himself.

Looking around frantically, he finally spotted her. "Sarah," he shouted, making his way over to her as fast as he could. "Are you okay," he asked, without really waiting for an answer. He crouched down in the water and placed his arms behind her legs. Lifting her up out of the water quickly, he held on to her and asked, "do you want to get out of here?" When he had her picked up, she was no longer in the water, but she must still be cold.

Looking around Vanessa really wondered where Dominic was. Trust him to have disappeared at a time like this.
Hearing her name, she looked for the person who had spoke, and smiled at Meredith. "No....You just need to get out." Vannie nodded, although it was probably hard for them to leave without any of there things. She herself was finding it hard to leave her shoes behind. "We just need to get out before the waters get higher...and I think we're going to the great hall." She added, well that was where they had gone last time.

"Good idea." Vanessa nodded with a smile. Someone going back up to the dormitory was the last thing she needed. "You'll be able to replace your books, if the water gets that high." She nodded, hoping the water wouldn't get that high. Although she had a feeling it was going to get that high. Typical.
"I think we're to the great hall." She added as she watched the girl walk off.

"Turn around. Turn around." Vannie spoke, as she splashed towards the girl with the skateboard. "We haven't gone through a storm. The flood in the dungeons is rising." She explained as she stared at the girl. Surely she could have worked that out. "Everyone needs to get out of the common room."

Sarah was still awaiting a reply from Vanessa when she heard her name being called.At least she thought it was for her,there did seem to be more than one Sarah around.Spinning as best she could without dropping her robes or falling over,she spotted Ryder making his way into the common room.
"You shouldn't be here,we're sup--" but she couldn't finish the sentence,because the next thing she knew he was bending down and hoisting her up to get her out of the water. "What the....? Thank you," she smiled,looking him in the face,now they were eye to eye. "I'm fine.Well my feet are a little cold and wet.I'd love to get out of here!" Holding on tight,because the last thing she wanted was to fall and end up completely soaked,Sarah waited for Ryder to get them out.
