Jake held out his hand to the girl on the floor, whose name was apparently Wesley. He thought it was an odd name, but he could hardly talk, being called Jakers. "Here, I'll help you up, and we'll get you over the to sofa," he explained. "We just need to get away from the door, really."

It seemed perfectly reasonable, and Jake gave another awkward smile. He would have carried her, but he was still a total midget, the same height as last year, so he refrained.

Wesley didn't respond immediately to the next sentence. She really didn't want to go to the hospital wing. Hospitals scared her. She just wanted to go to sleep. And wake up the next day with everything okay. She wanted to start over. But Wesley doubted whether she could walk to the room. Maybe she could just sit here for a little bit. But sitting in the middle of the room with wet hair seemed slightly odd. She would just be in every one's way. And Vanessa really wanted her to go to the hospital wing. She didn't want to make Vanessa angry. But Wesley didn't want to be a burden. And she didn't want to cause a scene.

The truth was, she honestly didn't know what to do.

Vanessa looked up as Jake stood up, well it looked like he was okay, so she didn't have to worry about him anymore. And if he was going to see Professor Morgan then he'd be ok. She knew that Professor Morgan would look after him.

"Ooh...Thats pretty" Vannie nodded, with a smile. A little unusual but pretty neither the less. She also looked a little reluctant to go to the hosptial wing. She'd only been to the hospital wing once really, and it was last year when she had hurt her wrist.
"It'll be fine." She reassured the girl, as she pushed her brunette locks off of her face. "And...I can stay with you if you wish." She nodded with a smile. Hopefully the girl would call with her, because she was feeling a little unsure of how the girl was feeling, she still didn't look very well. "I think it'll be for the best Wesley"

Sarah stood back as Jake and Vanessa took care of the new young girl..Wesley did she say her name was?
Not wishing to get in the way,she shuffled slightly to the side and put her hands behind her back. "If you guys need any help I'll be over here," she smiled at them and pointed towards the sofa.Yep best to stay out of the way and let the prefect handle it.

Moving over to the plush sofa,Sarah plonked herself down and stretched her arms and legs in front of her.She kept one eye on the goings on to the side, but settled back and tried to get comfortable.

For all you lovely puffs in here ;)

Of course Vanessa just had to go ahead of him after the feast, leaving him to handle the little rascals by himself. Just because he was a more 'experienced' prefect, having been so last term, didn't mean that he should do all the work. Wait... speaking of the rascals, where in the name of Merlin were they!?

Oh dear . . . He lost them.

Shackleton would have his head and his badge for good this time.

. . .

Drawing deep breaths - as best as possible - Dominic tried to cool his nerves as he checked behind him once more. None. Perhaps they followed Vanessa and she got lost? No. She's been at Hogwarts longer than him, so it was unlikely for that to occur.

Dominic stepped into the common room after muttering the password, praying to Merlin that somehow, miraculously, everything would be alright. Closing his eyes to concentrate, he opened them once he was sure he was in the familiar brightly lit common room. And find them, he did.

... except that everything was NOT alright! Inside the room, the sixth year gulped as he spotted Vanessa and some other girls and Jacob too, crowding around a nervous, frail looking girl.

"Uhh..." Dom started to say, but stopped as he realized he hadn't the slightest clue what was happening. The girl did look pale though. Biting his lower lip awkwardly, he took a step closer to the incident. "What happened?"

SnitCHchASER 05-24-2009 02:11 AM

Emalyn sighed with relief to learn that the first year was okay. She smiled at her encouragingly, as to not make her feel embarrased. She unfolded her arms then, wrapping one over Melanie's shoulders, who was standing next to her. She hadn't gotten too much of a chance to talk to her too much during the feast. It felt so good to have a friend like Melanie at Hogwarts, and she didn't make her feel like a midget either, not like all these prefects older students.

She felt terrible that this young girl had fainted, but she decided it was best not to stare, so she busied herself by playing with a loose strand of hair from her pony-tail with her free hand.

imaginarynumb3rs 05-24-2009 03:18 AM

Yup, the boy didn't loath her, Wesley confirmed, relieved. If a person offers to help you over to the sofa they can't hate you. Unless they're going to drop you. But Wesley was almost 99.9% certain no one was that mean. At least, she didn't think so. Wesley didn't think she had ever met a really awful person before. Some were grouchy, and some angry, but never REALLY mean. Usually they were upset because of something she did. Wesley did a lot of things wrong.

Not knowing what else to do, she grabbed Jake's hand, stumbling over to the couch. Sitting in an actual seat made her feel better and less awkward (but only very slightly). "Thanks," she said, earnestly.

Wesley couldn't help but look nervously at Jake's eye, where she had bumped him. It looked scary: black and blue, starting to swell. At least it wasn't bleeding; Wesley was scared of blood. Then she remembered that a bruise just meant it was bleeding beneath the skin. Wesley wondered why all the attention was being focused at her. She wasn't bleeding like Jake. Or was she? Wesley didn't know. She didn't want to know. Right now the issue was the boy's eye. He was the one who needed to go to the hospital wing. He had said he was going to visit a Professor Morgan. Maybe she was the nurse. Wesley's gut twisted; she had caused the scary bruise. He was hurting because of her. She felt like she was going to throw up. Again.

Before Wesley could answer Vanessa (or vomit), more people crowded around her. It seemed like there were hundreds of students surrounding her. Wesley was so used to be unnoticed, being the listener, the silent follower, that she was completely and absolutely overwhelmed. She felt like a trapped mouse. There were so many people. She was getting a headache trying to figure out what each person expected of her. How to please them. How to avoid being a nuisance. What to say and what to do without making anyone angry.

So Wesley gave up. Which was what she did best. "O-okay," she finally answered Vanessa. Maybe if she went to the hospital wing it would be over faster. Maybe no one would remember what happened. Maybe the nurse wouldn't be scary. There where so many maybes; enough for even someone as pessimistic as Wesley to be hopeful.

Nope.

Still, it was a relief to be back in here, like, one huge breath after being submerged under water for some time. As he let the image of the room sink in, knowing that he would be here for months, and let that comfort him, Jake eyed a sofa in the perfect place.

But, instead of seating himself, Jake sat perched on the back of it, facing the entrance to the Common Room. His small body was not yet heavy enough to tilt the sofa. Not heavy enough by far.

So, in his position, Jake waited for Dominic to enter, which would surely happen at some point.

Cedric saw Jake entered the common room.He rushed towards his fellow huffie."Hey Jake! How's your holiday?"Cedric asked to Jake happily. He actually missed their common room where he spend happy moments with his friends."Its so good to be back here, right?and looks like that you're looking for someone, huh?"Cedric told Jake

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Poking at the fireplace with his wand, the flames grew with every jab. Unphased by the flames, Helios stared intently. He could hear the students around him, but he was in his own world.

All the little puffsters XD

Vanessa was starting to wonder where Dominic was. Surely it couldn't take that long for him to get here. It wasn't that far. And he was the other prefect. Shouldn't he be making sure the first years were okay.
Oh. Just as she was wondering this, she heard his voice. Grimacing a little, she looked up, meeting his eyes. "Hello De-Dominic." She nodded at him, they needed to appear as if they were friendly. "Wesley here...fainted" She nodded, glancing down at the girl and smiling. "I'm going to take her to the hospital wing...if she wants to go." She added, filling him in on the information, before giving her attention back to Wesley.

"ooh." So Wesley was going to go with her. She looked around. It probably would be best if someone else came with her, for she knew that she wouldn't be able to hold the girl, considering how much of a midget she was. But maybe Denton could carry her? He was like really tall. She glanced up at him. "Do you wanna come too Dom?" She asked, glancing between the pair. Really one of them should stay in the common room. She glanced around at the others who were here. One of them could easily come along if Denton didn't want to.

Casting a quick glance around the room, Jake confirmed that Denton wasn't there yet, and focused on the boy in front of him. "Yeah, great to be back... and yup, I'm trying to find Denton. Dominic Denton... I have... to confront him about something."

Okay, so the girl was going to go up to the nurse. That was good... right?

Hmmm, Jake remembered his last confrontation with the healer at the feast, and bit his lip. Well he wasn't going up there. Healers absolutely petrified him. "Good stuff," was all Jake said, with a stiff smile, and he quit messing with his eye.

"Denton," he growled under his breath, getting ready to pounce. Rawrr. The boy was looking uncomfortable... goooooood. But then the situation. "Nothing to worry about, it's under control," he said to the prefect. You should have been here to make sure of that.

Eyes narrowing, Jake yelped in pain at the startling reminder of his black eye. "No, Vannie," he called over to the other older student. "Dominic is staying here," Jake said firmly, using his seldom-used 'I mean business' tone. "I need to speak to him."

So they were going to be polite and civil, despite the fact that she seemed agitated by his late arrival. "Wesley?" Oh. The pale girl. But that sounded like a guy's name. Oh well; to each their own, it was still her name. And he knew it was a 'she' from the next comment Vanessa made.

Nodding at how it was a good idea for her to go to the hospital, an idea then struck him. "Did anyone find out if she ate anything? Like maybe why she fainted?" He asked, arching one brow, as he rummaged in his pocket for the one candy he always carried around. Holding out a lemon drop candy to the girl, Wesley, "Here. You look like you could use some sugar and this is the only sugar candy I carry around. Low sugar and tart and delicious."

Oh. What was this? Him to go to the Hospital Wing with them? But did they really need both prefects to leave the common room unintended and the students left there to wreak havoc? No. Though she probably wanted him to carry the girl... since he was that much taller than the seventh year...

Yup. He was pretty sure the boy was still angsty because he thought he was lying over Kayla Winters dismissal from Hogwarts. Which he wasn't. He had the letter to prove it.

"Jake. Please," Dom wasn't really in the mood for more false accusations. "But well," the sixth year looked towards Vannie now. "Think you can handle a levitation charm?" She should be able to...

Akari-Sakura 05-24-2009 09:47 PM

It was an interesting feeling, the one that she carried at this moment. It was the same one that she carried when she had discovered she had xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), and was exactly the same as when she had said good bye to her parents and cousin at the train station. Fear. Something that she knew too well, but she knew she had to overcome it eventually. Now thought she was still a kid so she still had time to work on it.

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.

She reminded herself and took in a deep breath. She pushed her hair out of her eyes but it was useless, her hair went back to her original position and she smiled. She looked at her cat Kes who was sound asleep in her left arm. Kes was still a Kitten but she was awake she was quite the hurricane. She made a mental note to warn her teachers and classmates as well as anyone who would go near her.

She looked away from Kes and saw that there were a couple of students already starting to talk and begin to make friends then the feeling came back

Oh boy, here we go again.
Making friends shall be interesting.

Hehe, couldn't resist ;)

Twirling a soft, dark curl around her index finger absentmindedly as she walked down the corridor, the small first year wasn't expecting to see a bunch of students crowded around the Hufflepuff common room lounge when the portrait door slid open to allow her access. It was a rather nice day out, so why would she expect to see.. well, two Prefects, an annoyed looking boy and a sickly pale girl and some other random badger students. "What have I just walked into?" Katie thought outloud, looking puzzedly from one student to another as she stepped further into the room, her hands at her sides and the lock of hair she was playing with abandoned.

From where she stood, it didn't look like your normal happy gathering. Unlike her older former Hufflepuff sister she wasn't an extremely curious girl, never had been but like any tiny eleven year old child Katie was semi-curious to know what was going on. Maybe that would actually be considered nosey, but who cared anyway? "Uhm.. is she okay?" She asked the older female (Vanessa) refering to a fellow first year, slowly approaching the growing group. Though Katie didn't often show that she possessed the ability to be compassionate towards others didn't mean she really wasn't.

"Jake. Please, what?" Jake snapped, frowning up at the boy with his arms crossed. He would get to the bottom of this issue if it was the last thing he did... and the way he was planning on talking to Dominic it probably would be the last thing he did.

As he patiently waited for Dominic (because yes, he could do patient) Jake went and perched on the backrest of the sofa he'd been sitting on before, his legs dangling down the back of it.

And there were no EVIL OLD MEN teachers here that would take Jake away so he couldn't get to his point, and Dominic was escaping, so help him if he did.

He better not call me by my last name again.

Wesley accepted the lemon drop gratefully, softly saying "Thank you." It was moist and sticky, and slightly covered in pocket fuzz, but Wesley sucked on it hungrily. The candy seemed to bring back a wave of hunger that had been lying dormant all day, passively sleeping. Her stomach growled, and she turned bright red once more, too tired to add the embarrassed giggle so often accompanied by odd noises coming from ones own self.

Up until then Wesley hadn't considered how to get to the hospital wing. She wasn't much of a far-ahead thinker. Levitation charm? Wesley looked at Vanessa, concerned. She hadn't thought it was going to be so hard, but levitating sounded really difficult. Especially levitating a person. And carrying a person? Even someone like Wesley, 1.1938 meters tall, would be awfully hard to carry up many staircases. How far was the hospital wing? Wesley wasn't sure; she had only found the common room through sheer luck. It only she had realized how difficult it would have been for everyone; then surely she would have said no.

Wesley looked at the new Hufflepuff, who seemed closer to her own age. How stupid she must look, sitting here, stomach growling. Wesley felt so self-aware in the presence of one her own age. She had wanted to make friends so desperately...but now...no one wants to be friends with a puking, fainting, headbutting weirdo she couldn't help but think, ever more depressed.

What time was it anyway? Wesley was pretty sure that the room was underground, but she had arrived half dead, so she didn't really know. The only thing she was positive about was that the room didn't have windows. How long had she been here? The feast had been lengthy, or so she assumed, having not been present the entire time. How long had she fainted? Everything seemed to have gone by so fast- but Wesley was starting to wonder if it had actually been longer. What if it was morning? What if it was mid-day? Had she kept everyone here this long? She should have just said she wanted to sleep. It would have been over. Now she was dragging things out. Maybe, if it was morning, she could just go down to the great hall and eat with the others. Surely with more food in her stomach, she would feel better. Sitting on the couch, Wesley was feeling less and less dizzy. Just tired. And hungry. And confused and anxious and worried and over-emotional like she was going to start crying and just BLAHHH! What time was it? Wesley looked for a clock...

ooc: sorry! My metrics are really bad so I hope I got it right. Wesley is 3 ft. 11 in.

Jac wandered into the Hufflepuff common room, the yellow and black tie pulling annoying against her throat. Pulling at it, her eyes drawn into narrow slits, she slumped down on one of the couches. She hated the colours that were around her. Yellows and blacks. It was really unimaginative. The colour that dominated the school seemed to be black. Glancing around the room, she froze. It was him. That freakin' annoying boy who was exactly the same height as her, the same age.. It was too annoying. She stood up, and wandered into a seat that was further back in the shadows. With any luck, he wasn't going to be able to see her.

all those involved XD

"Oh...okay then Jake." Vanessa nodded. If he wanted to speak to Dominic then Dom better say here. And she was a seventh year anyway, so she'd be able to get the first year to the hospital wing. Well she hoped anyway.
"Dom..I am a seventh year...I do think I can handle a levitation charm." Vanessa stated, as she looked at Dominic. She was really not going to put the little first year at any more risk.

"Wesley...you don't mind me levitating you there do you...?" She asked, smiling at the girl. Unless the girl felt capable of walking, or someone bigger came along and could carrier, then this would be the only way. "I won't drop you." She promised, well she hoped she wouldn't anyway.
She looked around at the other hufflepuffs around, it might be an idea for one of them to join her, just incase. "Erm...Emalyn would you mind accompanying me to the hospital wing...it won't take long." She nodded with smile.

Vanessa looked around, as another voice appeared, and she noted that it was another young, probably first year, girl. She smiled at her. "Hey there." She spoke to the girl. "Well...I think she is now"

Of course he hadn't missed her wandering in. He was sitting on the back of a sofa facing the entrance. Psshhh! The girl, who looked less than please, had obviously wandered in, being all high short and mighty...

And then it hit Jake.

SHE WAS IN HUFFLEPUFF?!

Duuuuuuuude...

"Hey," Jake nodded at her, because when you don't like someone, you obviously strike up a conversation. "..."

Now what?

"How d'you like it at Hogwarts, then?" he tried, knowing that she wouldn't have had a chance to really explore so far.

Ahhhhh well.

WAAAAAAAAHHHH!

Hide! When he first spoke, she turned her blonde head away, pretending that she hadn't heard him in the slightest, but then he just HAD to continue the conversation. She eyed him carefully, her hazel eyes narrowing even more...

Heck if they went any more she'd look like she was squinting. "It's... Alright, what I've seen of it. This place isn't awesome though." She gestured to the room around them, scowling at the, ick, yellow.

"Why..? What's it to you?"

Jeeeeeeeeeez... hormonal...

"Just asking," Jake snapped right back at the girl. His usually short temper was totally dwindling, having to deal with this girl. "What's so wrong with this place?" he asked, looking around. Jake thought it was pretty cool, from the contrasting colours to the cushiony sofas.

At that moment, Jake's body decided to test his balance. "Woah," he muttered quickly, just about steadying himself on the back of the sofa. It was hard, with nowhere to rest his feet.

Tiffany strolled into the Hufflepuff common room, squinting as she examined her surroundings. Yellow. Black. Yellow. Black. Well, what did she expect? It was almost empty, apart from two prefects and some other Huffies.

Feeling dizzy from her Transfiguration lesson (someone actually fainted) Tiffany dragged herself to a nearby chair, slumping into it lazily. She half hoped someone would come and make friends with her, half hoped she would just evaporate into thin air.

Deciding that being moody wouldn't change anything, Tiffany pulled her copy of Quidditch Through The Ages out of her bag and started reading, not taking in a single word.

Rhea walked into the huffy common room in a bit of a grouchy mood. She took a seat infront of the fire place and pulled out her DADA text book. She knew she was suppose to be studying but she just couldn't focus.Idly, she skipped through the pages, until finally she gave up and dropped her book by her feet, then put her legs up and layed back into the chair staring up at the ceiling.

Simone walked into the obviously-not-very-occupied common room, and looked around. Everything was decked out in the house colors. She liked this room. It was nice and cozy.

Simone smiled as she found an empty chair by the fireplace. She pulled out an old book. One of her favorites, Pride and Prejudice, and opened it where she had finished reading last. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy had just finished dancing at Mr. Bingley's huge fancy ball. Oh! The Drama!

She sighed, wishing to find her Mr. Darcy.

*Gabben walked into the common room and fell on to the couch. Today had been a long day and he was tired of it. After a few minutes he fell fast asleep and started to drool a little on the couch.*
