After your journey through a door to the right of the main staircase in the Entrance Hall and down a staircase there, you find yourself standing before a still life painting. Upon giving the correct password, you are allowed access to a warm, welcoming underground room, decorated in the Hufflepuff house colours. Gathered around the large fireplace are several oversized and overfilled plump sofas, which resemble fluffy clouds, and a variety of comfortable armchairs scattered around for you to rest your weary bodies in.

A long table sits in the brightest part of the room (torches are lit all day long) for the students who would rather do their homework in here than in their dormitories or the library.

Portraits of past well-known Hufflepuffs hang on one wall, among them are Cedric Diggory and Nymphadora Tonks, who died in the dark days of You-Know-Who's power, as well as the Fat Friar. Remember and honour them as you walk to or from your dormitories.

Two perfectly round, barrel top doors are positioned on opposing sides of the common room. They both open to reveal underground tunnels which will lead you to your common rooms; boys on the right, girls on the left.

Ryder didn't say anything else, he just turned around, and made his way back out of the common room. Once he was back in the corridor, the flooding wasn't going to be as bad..yet. He hoped anyway.

The girl looked truly terrified, but why? It was just water.

She groaned and stopped looking down at the first year.
"It won't take me thirty seconds to just grab my books and get back," she said quietly. Not wanting to add to the chaos around. She felt completely calm, except for the fact that she had a desperate urge to go get her book.

Again someone was shouting instructions at her. She turned to look at who had called to her. The house prefect. Great now she had to leave her stuff. What was more important though? She really didn't feel like leaving her stuff but she shrugged in reply to the prefect.
"I guess I'll leave them..." she replied dryly. She took the first year's hand wanting to help her to wade her way to the common room door, where other panicking huffies were scrambling through.

About to argue and plead some more, or at least follow the girl (though she REALLY REALLY didn't want to), Wesley felt so relieved when Vanessa managed to take control of the situation and convince the girl that it really wasn't safe.

Gladly taking the older girl's hand, Wesley followed her out of the room.

It's going to be okay. No body's going to drown...thank Merlin for prefects and Vanessa.

Then there was Vanessa, already shouting on them to get out... One step ahead of him, because he was clueless and didn't even know there was a flood going on until Varius had to scream it.

"You heard Vanessa," Dominic reiterated to all the little badgers, sighing. "Everyone OUT!" Turning back to his fellow prefect, he approached her with two quick strides - even in the low water level - and leaned in to whisper something to her, "Sorry about that, but girl's dormitory all clear?" he asked.

"Acck!" Vanessa neardly fell over as she two girls clinged too her. No! She couldn't fall over. She didnt want to get that wet! She cringed as the girls clung to her. oh they really were scared. And Vannie still needed to make sure that all the other hufflepuffs got out.

"Girls. You have to do it. This water is probably going to rise more. And you need to get out. I know that it's scary, but the quicker you get out the less scary it will be." Vanessa nodded, hoping that the girls wound stop clinging to her.

"It's not that far...and you do it all the while." She smiled, glancing back at Lyra, surely her fellow pink lady. "Lyra...a little help?"

Lyra saw the pout that Vannie made about her shoes. "We're Pink Ladies, you can borrow mine if you like," even though my shoes are probably too big and not that I would share with JUST anyone.

And then she heard the plead that the female Prefect was making. Lyra would FAINT if someone pushed her over in the water! FAINT! But then her eyes widened with a look of help of her own as well. Help? She needed help! "Ahh...yes...umm...the girls can...help me carry my things up to the Great Hall," she said as they walked off anyway. Thanks alot, you Just and Truthful Hufflepuffs.

"Well, nevermind," she blurted as she held her clothes up a little higher. "Right! I must get these upstairs...and take off your shoes! Don't get them..." wet was not the word since they already were "...emm...any worse than they already are." Right! That was it!

"Well...if they hadn't walked away." Vanessa grinned, well that ruined Lyra's plan. "I'm sure someone else will help you....just you need to hope they don't fall over." She cringed, the clothes would get wet if that happened.
"Just make sure they all get out Lyra...me and Dom will be along shortly."

Varius ran out of the boys dormitories, "Everyone has been warned. I got the animals that were there," he pointed to one of the two backpacks on his shoulders. "I'm surprised people are still here," he said to his two prefects. "Did you manage to get all the animals from the girl's dormitories Midgessa?"

Cause the last thing he needed was twelve dozen pairs of shoes smacking him upside the head. Hence his reluctance in summoning the books too . . . "How you holding up?" he turned and asked her suddenly.

"Yes, yes actually there is." she said, looking up at Dominic, a relieved expression on her face. Hopefully he wasn't afraid of spiders... "I know it may not seem very important right now...but- but Jake's spider's gonna die if you don't go get it." she informed him bluntly. "I think it's in his dorm." she added, biting her lip.

She probably sounded silly to him, but she didn't want the spider to die... Even if spiders were gross. And a bit scary.

"He's a little tarantula." she added. "Really fuzzy...small-" she continued, but broke off her sentence as Varius emerged from the boy's dorms claiming he had all the pets. "Never mind..." she said to Dominic, giving him a small smile before, starting to trek her way through the water, it now sloshing around her knees. She clung to the two cats heading out the kitchen level corridor, still shivering a bit with fear, water being one of the only things she was afraid of, as she clambered out of the common room. If all those other people could do it so could she...And it was definitely about time to hightail it out of there. Byebye common room.

Varius smiled as he seemed to have put Melanie's mind at ease. Glad to see she, and some of the other students were heading up to the Great Hall, he removed his wand from his pocket. "I think," he said returning his attention to his Prefects, "That we should TRY something... whilst the water is still pretty low. I was thinking Transfiguration lesson one?" This was bound to raise a few arguments, but they should at LEAST try... and he had helped thus far AND he was an awesome swimmer, not to mention his lack of panic during this whole fiasco.

Vannie sighed as she thought about her shoes. Oh her lovely designer shoes, where she had left them in the dormintory. Why hadn't she thought like Lyra had?

She commented quietly, as she looked towards the dormitory. She didn't really want to be smacked by her shoes, hence why she took a side step, so she was partially behind Dominic.

"E. We gotta get out." Tammy spoke quickly to her best friend as she heard the prefects ushering them out of the common room. NOt that she was listenign much as to where they were supposed to go. She had everything she needed anyway. Her mothers letter, the family picture and her fourth year picture with Jack.

"C'mon Eva." Tammy pleaded to teh girl that was intently looking out of the window.

Dominic blinked at Melanie who started speaking of something about Jake's spider being in the dormitory... But then she realized that Varius had all the pets - thank Merlin for that! Because even if Dominic probably would have gone back to get it, for Jake only, cause the little second year was one of the better younger badgers being seeker last term and all . . . the idea of crawly things would best be avoided when possible.

"Okay then," the sixth year nodded towards Melanie as she left the common room. One less there to worry about drowning! Excellent!

Or maybe that was unconvenient, considering that his front of his robes were now soaked, as the water splattered upwards and the shoes . . . well, they continued to fly overhead...

Just how many shoes does one girl need!? Holding his breath, he watched as they flew steadily down from the girl's dormitory over his head...

"Yeey my shoes." Vanessa giggled, soon forgetting that she was wet. "Thank you Prefect Denton." She smiled, as she conjured a bag, and quickly put the shoes into them, before they could get too wet.

"You can get up now...I've got them all." Vanessa nodded, as she put the bag over her shoulder. "All the boys are out of the dorms right?" She asked, as she glanced around the common room, making sure people were moving out.

"YAYYYY!" Lyra said as she made her way out the door when Vannie called that she had her shoes! There was nothing like a happy ending and all thanks to Dominic for saving the SHOE DAY!

"Olright." Tammy smiled at Vanessa, she didnt know her personally but knew she was one of the prefects. And the person with her. Yeah he had a badge too. "Were going." She nodded and pulled at Evas arm. KNowing if she left her Vanessa and the other prefect, DOminic she thought, would get her out. And Tammy had to make sure Natasha was okay. She couldnt let her get harmed. So she headed for the common room door as her feet were in water. Ah, today was so not a good day to be wearing a skirt and tights.

"Thank you Mr Tipps and Miss Corbette for clearing out the dormitories and Mr Denton for also helping to clear out the common room." Marcus flicked his wand and levitated the unconscious kid in front of him.

"Right well if everyone is out then I suggest that we leave as well. We may need to check the kitchens as well and get people out of there and anyone lingering in the corridors." Just another fun day at Hogwarts.

Nothing was working! Surely his wandwork couldn't be THAT bad, "Professor what is with this water? It won't... vanish!" he said placing it back in his pocket and walking by Professor Lawson's side as they made their way to the common room exit. "Oh yes, I totally forgot about the kitchens! The poor elves!"

Marcus looked down at Varius and chuckled. "I wouldn't worry too much Mr Tipps, you are only a second year after all. Whatever is causing this, requires some experience." Eh, even us Professor's couldn't get rid of it but at least we stopped it.

"Mr Tipps, could you gather up some students for me? The other Professor's need to be told and we have to make sure the place is entirely vacuated."
