| | Herbology Lesson Two: Gillyweed The greenhouse was set up as usual, only with the black lab desks arranged in groups of four or five instead of in two long rows along the perimeter. There are no plants in the room for now, just the lab tables and the blackboard at the front by the professor's table. Professor Bunbury sits on a pink stool beside it, flipping through a thick, old-looking book as she waits for students to trickle in and take their seats. |

Taking the gillyweed in both hands again, he continued through the maze, turning a few left turns and a few less rights. Miles finally made it to the center of the maze. The pool. "OooOOooooOOh." He said eerily like a ghost in a child's mind. It was time to do a bit of swimmin'. "Sorry Miles." Vanessa turned around to give him a smile. Surely he knew that she wanted to do awesome at this. "You'll still beat me." She grinned before slipping away around a corner. She would probably fall over again a few times anyway, so it would hardly matter.
Thoughts of Miles still in her mind she carried on looking for the gilyweed, crouching down a few times, quite carefully, and picked up some of it, just enough to get her across the lake.
After this she came to the edges of the pond. It was now or never. She looked at the gillyweed in her hands. Eww. Was she really going to put this in her mouth?
"Eww." She cringed, before putting a small amount of what she had collected into her mouth. Eww eww eww. That tasted rather naassty. And now she had an odd feeling on her neck, like something that there that hadn't been before. Wiping her fingers across her neck, she cringed again. Gills. Loverly.
Now she had to jump into the pond, she looked at her webbed feet and hands, before jumping in. Now she just needed to swim....

Finally, sweating from the humid atmosphere, Kiri arrived at the door leading out of the greenhouse. And it was the correct one, too, she could see that. There was just one obstacle: The pond. It was inside the greenhouse. Kiri had not expected that. A small wharf of sorts had been erected in front of the door so that one, having reached that side of the pond, could pull themselves up and step through. She had to admire the professor's magical skills. An entire pond? That was impressive.
Kiri stepped to the very edge of the pond. Now she was kind of glad it was inside. Had it been outside in the howling winter winds, she'd probably have died from the cold. She knelt down and placed the gillyweed on the ground next to her. Taking off one glove, she held her hand into the water. It was certainly chilly, but not as bad as she'd hoped.
She straightened up again. How much gillyweed would she need? The pond didn't look big, but a thick tree trunk went through it about halfway through, so she would definitely have to dive, maybe even find a way around it. She plucked off two sizeable strands of the gillyweed. That would have to be enough, surely.
But... would she be able to swallow it? Kiri held the wriggling plant to her face. Ugh! The stuff was foul. Like a stale lake full of green algae. With her free hand, Kiri pinched her nose shut to minimise the smell, then put it in her mouth.
She nearly gagged. Chewing on the gillyweed was like biting into the cadaver of a rat. And the way the plant wriggled in her mouth was nauseating. She swallowed it as quickly as possible - the feeling of the squirming tendrils in her oesophagus was almost more than she could handle.
Almost at once, the skin on her throat prickled unpleasantly. When she touched it, she could feel it being moved from the inside, and it got rougher and threw little ridges. The gills... Too late, Kiri remembered about the other effects of the gillyweed. She tried to struggle out of her shoes, but breathing was becoming difficult now. She panted painfully, but then her shoes were off (Finally!), and her webbed feet were free. Not a moment to soon! She plunged into the pond.
It had felt chilly to her at first, but now it wasn't so bad. Was that another effect the gillyweed had on organisms? She didn't know. The light was dim, but she could see clearly. More plants were growing at the bottom of the pond. She swam past them lightly, trying to make sense of the strange feelings. Her hands looked like malformed clay.
She passed the tree trunk in the middle of the pond, and a little while later, with a distinct feeling of pride (and anticlimax), she was at the other end of the pond. Kiri felt her gills - that impulse alone seemed to sum up the bizarre effects perfectly. Humans didn't have gills!
Right now, she had gills, however, and they still felt as they had before. So she wasn't ready to emerge yet. Kiri passed the time by inspecting the bottom of the pond idly, until, a few minutes later, she had the impression that she was breathing more heavily. Yes, the gillyweed reached its end. Her hands, she noticed, looked more like her own again, too. She propelled herself upwards.
She grabbed the wharf and waited until the webs on her hands and feet had disappeared completely. Then she pulled herself up. It wasn't easy in her heavy, water-soaked clothes, but eventually she managed it. She pulled out her wand and dried herself off as best as she could, then used a summoning charm to get her shoes and gloves back. In her panic to get into the water as the gillyweed took effect, she had left them at the other side of the pond, after all! She dried those off, too, then put them on and pulled open the door of the greenhouse.

WHEW. Good thing. The little Puffy made it so Plymouth could go start over and collect and play with the Gillyweed himself. He didn't really WANT to get out of the maze though. He liked it in there. It was plant-filled and happy-making!
But, Plymouth knew better than to dally.... too long, that is. He got seated, legs crossed, in a particularly tangly bit of brush and picked each little gillyweed tail out. He made a little pile on his knee and hummed happily as he worked. He was trying to remember the words to that Happy Working song that they'd learned last term...
Plymouth hadn't made much progress through the maze. But it wasn't a completely unsuccessful class for him. He spent his time picking apart gillyweed... and piling it on his leg. But, it kept falling OFF his leg. Stupid gravity. So... Plymouth had to come up with a better way to hold his gillyweed.
Hmmm... ponder ponder... It was sticky...
Hmm... Oh! Plymouth started sticking gillyweed to his hair, making long dread-like extensions to his hair with the wiggly plant.
Needless to say, he looked totally hot. Plymouth "hehe'd" through the rest of the maze, cheating a little following after some others. He just liked to watch other people work.... and to see the plants. Really. |

...and just in that manner, webbed limbs pushed forward then shoved back again, Anna continued her journey through the pond. As the seconds ticked on and on, she began to relax a little, and she found that swimming via the usage of gillyweed acually wasn't quite bad afterall. Just for fun, Anna turned a front flip in the water, but she only really succeeded in hitting herself in the eyeball with a webbed foot...or was it a hand? That she did not know, but she'd been hit either way. Only she would have succeeded in hitting herself in the head with her own foot! Had she been on land...and without gills...she would have actually had a good laugh about that one.
She swam forward a bit more and came upon another lily pad. She stopped and studied it for a while, thinking she might not get another chance to see this part of the plant in this much detail. With her index finger, she touched it, then pulled away from it quickly in case any of her classmates were planning to jump on it. She waved a webbed hand in front of her face, and as it flashed before her eyes, she noticed that it was beginning to trickle back down to its normal state-of-being. She knew she hadn't been in the pond a full hour, but she supposed it was only normal for the effects to start gradually wearing off at some point and time. With that thought in mind, she pushed herself forward and swam through all sorts of plants inhabiting the pond. This experience was rather awesome when she really stopped to think about it.
Through the foggy water, she could see a dark, brown patch up ahead, and at first her heart started beating really quickly in anticipation as to what the patch really was. As she got closer, though, Anna could see that the dark patch was actually the bank on the other side of the pond. She would have smiled, but she didn't want to inhale a large amount of water at one time. Although, with gills, would that have had the same effect on her as it normally would? Hmm...something to think about. When she reached the bank, she pushed her hands up and out of the water. As soon as she was latched on to the floor on the other side of the pond, she pushed even harder and shoved herself up. A weird sort of tingle shot through her body, and just like that the gills and the webs on her hands and feet disappeared. Once fully on the floor, she took a few deep breaths to readjust herself to being outside the water. "I made it," she said, looking up at her classmates and the professor. "That...was really awesome."

"Good work, everyone," Professor Bunbury nearly beamed at the students who'd survived thus far. "Have a towel here to dry off and then take a seat and we'll discuss the effects of the gillyweed when a few more students arrive. | The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. William was comfortable on the ground holding the Gillyweed. Yes, if it were up to him, he'd be sitting there fo the rest of class thinking of the fairy. But knowing bunbury she'd make him get up and go across the pond. Sighing he got up, wiping his his knees off before looking at the gillyweed and eating it. It felt so slimy! Grainy and had a strange mushy gushy texture making him shudder with repulsion.
Hurrying over to the pond he stood on the edge and waited. Suddenly he felt weird; like he was trying to walk but couldn't. His neck felt strange, a weird tingling sensation that was moving down his body making him shudder again. Looking at his hands he watched as a web began forming between his fingers, and he felt his feet do the same. Kicking off his shoes quickly he sighed loudly as his webbed feet fell free of their prison and he tried to take a breath before diving into the pond but found he couldn't. Lifting his webbed hands up to his neck he felt the gills and had a moment of panic. what if he didn't eat enough of the gillyweed? What if he got caught on something and was stuck, never to be seen again? Come on William get into the water! his mind screamed at him as oxygen began leaving his system.
He jumped in as sloppy way, his feet slapping the edge of the pond before his head hit the chilly water and he took a deep breath. He dove until he was near the bottom then looked around, blinking in the eerie light. It was so weird! Cool but weird, in a strange this-can't-be-happening-but-it-is way. Thinking he should probably get going before his watery oxygen ran out and his gills disappeared he went on to swim down the pond length, his eyes looking around. His whole body felt weird, but comfortable. grinning he dove further into the water, doing a back flip and laughing hysterically, causing bubbles to float up to the surface. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming he thought twirling in the pond before being met with a trunk in the middle of the pond. His face scraped against it before he backed up, floating there and looking around. Were there any fishies in here? he wondered blinking before getting his mindset back and finding a way past the trunk. Spotting a hole he went towards it, finding the other end easily. William loved this! it was so cool and squishy and neat and chocolate worthy! Finally spotting the other side of the pond he began to feel weird, like his body was beginning to turn back into his normal self. Panicking a bit he pushed himself towards the end of the pond, his webbed feet slowly returning to normal just as he pushed his head out of the water gasping for breath.
Gasping and coughing he pulled himself up, shivering slightly as he lay on the ground for a minute his face stinging. "Ow..." he muttered blinking in the surroundings before rolling over and looking at professor Bunbury. "Hi." He said, still catching his breath. "That. Was. Awesome!" He exclaimed, his blue eyes shining.

He walked over and sat in a pink lawn chair congradulating the others that had made it also.

And upon saying this, she held her hand for proper salutations. "Want to team-work through this?"
Stepping forwards and gesturing with the head so Malfalda would follow her, Diane stepped into the greenhouse and it was like a jungle alright. A very pink jungle. She picked a starting point where there was enough room to proceed, and knelt down. Then she took one instrument from her hand, a vial, and placed it next to the invaded vines with white flowers shaped like trumpets. "I believe this is called... Angel's Trumpet. Fitting name, isn't it?" Diane turned around and saw nobody. She had lost the girl who she had been talking minutes before. Um, hopefully she would be alright. Diane put on her pocket the first vial of the pink weed and moved for the second, just forwards, stepping over the bush of the white trumpet flowers trying not to touch it. As she was turning, she stopped and turned. Just in case, she brought out parchment from her pocket and inscribed something. Soon that plant with the white trumpet flowers had a sign saying "poisonous, do not touch."
She heard people shout back and forwards from every part of the greenhouse. She found another pink net tangled in some vines ahead. She saw the end of it by luck. This time, she took it and de-tangled the vine all around its lenght. It took it less than a minute! Now she had a complete sample of the weed. But no gillyweed yet. Personally, she would prefer to gather the gillyweed instead. As she crossed these vines too, she came to find a clearing. Somebody else had already cleared the path here, she decided. Calmly, she went on ahead observing the plants around her -- some of them were a bit damaged by the path of the students -- this to find non-pink weed to collect, or the pond part may prove to be a little too difficult.

Herminny heard the professor say time was almost up and there she was contemplating whether she was actually gonna go through the maze of plants and collect and consume gillyweed to get to the other side of the pond. This was crazy, this was crazy, she thought to herself as she put on her gloves and entered the greenhouse. She gently moved the leaves of sme of the plants till she found some gillyweed on a few of them and collected itas she made her way through the maze. She then stared out at the pond and gulped. Dang was that a distance. She looked down at the gillyweed in her hand and quickly shoved it in her mouth and chewed on it as she jumped onto the pond. It was not long before she felt her feet being transfigured into that like a ducks and gills form on her neck and she could breathe under the water, wow she thought as she she swam across the dark murky pond. It felt like an eternity before she saw light again and when she did she started to swim upward and realized she had done it, she made it across. She waited for the effects to wwear off and then exited the pond and grabbed a pink towl and joined the other students at the lawn chairs.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean Ooh. The water felt a little odd, especially considering that she still had her school uniform on. She treaded water a little, as she got used to the difference in temperature, and tried to adjust to the little light that was coming through the water. She decided that she really didn't like the look of underwater in a pond. Yes. It was much prettier above shore. And now her hair was wet aswell. Great. At least she had straightened it this morning.
Looking around, she tried to find the way which would be correct, and not make her swim in a complete circle, making her finish where she had started. After doing this for a few seconds, she pushed forward, with her now webbed fingers, and started swimming a little, in a direction which she hoped was going to get her back to where Professor Bunbury, and probably some other members of the class were. She smiled, if it were possible when underwater, as she swam, for she found it rather much easier swimming with the webbed hands and feet. And the gills, which she still was finding a little odd, meant that she was able to swim without having to go up for hair. All this meant was that she just needed to avoid, and dodge the algae which, knowing her luck, she would most likely end up getting tangled in. Whilst watching out for this, she swum a little furthur. Not far to go now.

Cedric had understood the rules he should follow,Prof Bunbury explain it to him very clear,Of course,He should know the rules or else they'll died.He don't feel well when they talk about Cedric Diggory that died because of a wild maze. PoO!!!
He is Cedric too but he was quite very sure that he shouldn't get hurt or died either because of the maze.He knows that its just for fun and nothing dangerous is on the maze.
He then turned to Prof Annie,"Thanks Prof Annie, thanks so much--"
Oh!did he just say Prof Annie..NO!!!"Sorry,Professor Bunbury,I didn't mean to--"He had chicken out so he just turned around and was ready to go to the maze."Good luck to me!"
Then he walk towards the mazed,a little bit awkward. So even if hesitating a bit.He faced the maze challenge.Want his Prof Annie to see how brave he was.
Right.Left.Forward.Right.Left.Right.Forward.
Beehh! This challenge really confused him but he's having fun with it even if his sweat were pouring like a rain.
Finally,After left and right turns,He get a piece of gillyweed. He know he can make it though but he had to work hard to get rid of this mess.
Thanks to Prof Annie who explain it to him very very clear,at least,he had moral support from the one he admire.

Miles held his nose as he stuffed some gillyweed into his mouth. He gagged a bit, but refused to spit out. He needed to swim across this ... hopefully safe pool. He jumped in the pool as quickly as possible, and began front crawl across the length of the pool. Brrrrrr, it's cold. |

Satine felt like she had been at this maze and swimming through the lake gillyweed extravaganza for forever and a couple of days...she was tired and even more gripey that her new purple shoes had mud on them...she knew she could clean them and her new outfit off with a flick of her wand but it was just the principle of the whole thing.
She swam through the lake as quick as she could hoping to not get grabbed by anything that the DADA Professor had said lived in the lake and waters around Hogwartz...O Satine stop thinking like that she said as she thought she felt something brush against her leg....it's only seaweed or something...right? RIGHT!...but even as she thought that she paddled quicker and finally crawled out onto the shore and headed over to the two Professors.
"Professor Bunburry, quick question..." she paused and untied her new purple heels from her tank top and held them off. "Any ideas on how to clean these off and quickly." she gave the Professor the puppy dog face...after the flooding the other day Bunburry was def the person to ask about shoes...and for that matter shoes that had mud and gunk on them.

Growling, the Head Boy made his way through the maze, trying to untangle ... things as he did. He was probably doing these plants more harm than good. Ah well. He just wanted outta here. Fast. Please.

He saw Vannie entered before him,so he can meet her if could hurry and run fast enough. But he needs to use his mind too and his braveness, being cunning, humble and witty. That's make him a slytherpuffdorclaw.Well, that idea was from his treasured friend,Campy(in terms of endearment) and Campy calls him Cedar.
He was focusing on maze now,He shouldn't be distract by anybody. He found a gillyweed again. That's really fun for him,If he could swam in the lake,He can stop by and say Hi to the merpeople..
COOOCOOO..
He was nearly in the lake and is passing the middle part..after the middle part, the lake, then the last part..POPO..three parts to go.

"Clean them?" Annie blinked a few times and then twirled her wand. Oh, maybe they were just a little muddy and not completely, absolutely soaked and dead. A simple scourgify charm should work then - and aha, it did.
Bunbury smiled in relief at the now shiny shoes. "Is that better, dear?" O this woman was a savior! She was so excited about her shoes... "O Professor, you are amazing...Thank you Thank you Thank you!" she said looking at her once again clean shoes...She was starting to like this Professor....wow it's amazing what a little murky water in a locked room could do to you.

| connoisseur of comfort ❅ Crayola's Wibby Mrs Alex Turner ❅ Netflix and meow How BIG was this plant/shrub/whateveritwas maze thingy anyway!? Professor Bunbury was twisted, that's what she was. Yep, and Clifford no longer liked her. He KNEW there had to be somethingfishy about someone who adored pink so much. It just wasn't normal!
Struggling a little, the seventh year untangled a rather stubborn piece of ... plant from the other ... plant. BLEH! There were too many plants in this place! It was unnerving! ... like... they were watching him. Evil plants.
But wait.. hadn't he seen that plant already? Uh oh.. was he going in circles?

Bleeeeeeh. This was slow progress...Since nothing jumped out to kill her or anything, much to her delite, she slowly opened her eyes, looking around to see...
Well, lot's and lots of green. Hmpf, and she couldn't see anything moving either...though she wasn't sure that was good or bad. She probably wanted to get some gillyweed even if she was only crossing the lake on the giant lilypad type plants from last lesson just to prove she knew how to distinguish it from other plants.
Melanie continued walking through the maze going just as slowly as she had in the beginning, careful not to bump into any of the plant monsters as she went. She was making pretty good progress in whatever direction she was heading...she couldn't really tell because she'd pretty much lost sense of direction from having her eyes closed in the beginning. So basically for all she knew she was heading back to the entrance, instead of toward the big pond of doom.
She made a few turns, choosing pretty randomly, like for instance choosing the left side because it had a pretty yellow flower by it or by taking the center of the fork because the other two paths were covered with bushes with pink flowers dangling from them.
Annnnnnnnd guess where that took her?
NOOOOOOO! She should have known that those plants looked familiar... the other path, without the pink flowers, lead her directly back to of all places, the green house where they started. GROOOOOOOWL!! She should have known the pink path would be better to take, being Bunbury's favorite color, of course it would lead the right way....now all she had to do was retrace her steps all the way back through the maze, and go for one of the pink paths this time, riiiight?
Oh, yes, this would be a slow progress. Siiiiiiiiiigh. And she hadn't found any gillyweed yet either....All the other kids had probably already gotten it at the beginning... maybe she'd have better luck finding it near the lake.

| connoisseur of comfort ❅ Crayola's Wibby Mrs Alex Turner ❅ Netflix and meow EH. Maybe being lost was a good thing anyway. Walking round and round in circles forever meant he wouldn't ever have to get to that pond. He didn't want to try gillyweed. He didn't want to go anywhere NEAR the water. Nuh uh. Professor Bunbury might be nasty and evil .. yes.. but she couldn't MAKE him go in there.. HMPF.
A rather vicious plant seemed to take advantage of his being distracted, and Clifford growled when he felt it take a swipe at him. Jeeez. Bunbury had probably been training them. Gingerly touching his sore cheek, the seventh year carried on down the path. Untangling here and there..

Hogwarts RPG Name: Zahra Kettleburn Seventh Year | Inside Kitty | HIT ENTER | UNO Queen Plymouth, with his wig of gillyweed, finally made it to the pond. He was, without question, scared to death. Why couldn't he just doggy-paddle across? Maybe he could and pretend that he'd eaten some of the weed?
Oh wells. At least Plymouth could nom on some weed and get a better look at the underside of the water lilies. So, Plymouth shed some clothes, his cloak and shoes at least. Then he tore a piece of hair/wig/weed off, stuffed it in his mouth... and belly-flopped into the lake.
Plymouth could FEEL his mother cringing - from miiiiiiiiiiles and miles away - that he hadn't reemerged. "It's okay MUM. I can breeEEEeEeEEEathe!" he told her in a series of bubbles - for whatever it was worth. Plymouth's momma loved her little boy. Mmhmm.
Plymouth set across the pond like a frog - stopping at every lily on the way to check out the underside. No doubt, he'd stretch his gillyweed to its full capacity.
Bubble!hehe! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Natka kneeled down to get some more gillyweed, scrunching up her nose at the feeling of the slimy bits of plant sliding across her gloves. She was just about to extract her fourth (and final, she hoped) small bit of gillyweed when a movement across her target caused her to jump backwards. As she had been kneeling, however, this self-survival instinct only caused her to fall on her behind painfully. "Urgh, stupid plants! And bugs!" she muttered angrily, watching the huge dung beetle (Natka supposed some of the magical plants in the greenhouse had a certain effect on some bugs, otherwise how could ayone explain that this specimen was literally the size of her palm?!) scuttle away, not five centimetres away from her shoe.
Natka hated bugs.
Shaking the disgust and nervousness off herself, Natka gently pulled of the gillyweed, deciding she had enough to last her across the pond. So thinking, she finally straightned up properly - and almost groaned aloud at the uncomfortable ahce in her back. Carrying her grey catch in one hand, holding it away from her body, Natka quickly reached the edge of the pond. All right, well, here goes, she thought, taking a deep breath.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean As she swam Vanessa tried to look where she was going, attempting not to swim in circles, because she really didn't want to be in the pond any longer than she had already been in! She was glad that her shoes that she was wearing today hadn't been that expensive, because she was sure that they were nice and green now. At least she had thought to attempt to water proof her shoes before jumping in. She just hoped that it had worked.
Looking forward, the best she could, Vanessa pushed through with her arms, pulling herself along at a steady rate. She had to admit that this was quite fun, relaxing even. But it would definetly me much better if she hadn't had to eat any of that horrible nasty tasting gilly weed at the start. Ah well she couldn't have everything now could she, didn't want to be spoilt now did we.
She could see the light a little clearer now, which made her think that she was getting nearer to the end of the pond. Yey that meant she'd be able to get out soon. She propelled herself forward a little faster now, eagar to get out, and to breath minus the gills. They felt a little awkward, and she didn't really want to have slits in her throat all the while. Poor Fish, gills were awfully uncomfortable. How on earth did they cope.
After a few minutes, Vanessa felt her webbed hand touch something hard, and she figured that this was the edge of the pond. Yey. Popping up, she shook her head, as she treaded water for a few seconds. Now she just had to get out, which may cause some problems.
Finally, after about five minutes, she pulled herself up onto the grass, and shook her head, sending pond water flying in little circles around her, ahh the joys of long hair. Long wet matted curly hair now. Oh loverly. Grabbing her shoes from the floor, she examined them. Well they looked green now, and she had always wanted a green pair of shoes. Just not really...alage smelling.

She got the impression she was being rather slow at this task, Diane. Admittedly, she was not half as anxious... or was it eager? Than the others. Then she became again trapped in a web of pink and branches. She looked everywhere for a way back or maybe...
Then she saw it. Finally, she found the kind of twisted weed that looked like gillyweed. This one had already been parted from the branch in question, but was not collected. Diane stood on tiptoes with what her height allowed, and tried to find-- there, the light of sun reflected on water. The pond was left from where she was. Collecting the left gillyweed, she started for the pond. It was just her luck one of her sleeves got stuck in pink vines.
She started to have a hard time de-tangling herself. The initial tug would probably have damaged the plant. She had to stay with one hand stuck in air, feet kind of rooted to the ground, twisting her body so her other hand could reach the first. It was hardly the best position for collecting weed...
Still in this position with purplish plant tugging on her sleeve, trying to get out on her own, she wondered... Now, the professor had said you could either go through the labyrinth or the pond, or was it both? Nonetheless, the time limit must be around one hour. What a problem.
