Your homework is simply this - We have heard some of the muggle music from the 1950s today, learned one of the dances and talked about some of the customs and traditions from that era, even sampled some of the food.

Now it is up to you. Write a short essay on who you think was the most influential musician from the 1950s and why. It doesn't have to be a long essay, but I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this.

This assignment will be due by 12:00 a.m. EST Tuesday June 9 (9:00 p.m. PST Monday June 8, 5:00 a.m. GMT Tuesday June 9).

How would history have changed if the government had given the Orion Project the type of support it gave NASA during the early 60's? If the money spent on NASA and Apollo in the 1960s had been spent on Orion instead, could most of the negative issues, including fallout, have been resolved? It might not have been "Saturn by 1970" but perhaps "Saturn by 1980?" Tell me your opinion and why. 10 points total.

Turn in (PM) homework to me no later than Saturday, June 6th at 10:30 PM CST (GMT-6). Include name, house, and ID. Be sure to follow the rules stated in the Class Rules.[/COLOR]

DADA Lesson 1 Homework

I am going to be setting up a separate thread for this particular homework.

For this homework you will enter a room that is set out like a Saloon from the good old western days. And you are to take on the bad guys by practicing drawing your wands from your holsters and firing the water charm and ONLY the water charm. For those of you who don't know the incantation is 'Aguamenti.' But beware there are also innocent people in there as well. Focus on your surroundings as well.

This is a fairly easy assignment and all it requires is a very good imagination and some creative RPing.

The assignment is due one week from today.

History of MaGIC Homework!!!!

Quote:

For Homework:

Choose one invention or discovery from Wizarding History and tell me about it…
(you don’t have to use these questions, this is just to get you thinking)
-who invented/discovered it?
-what Hogwarts subjects does it relate to?
-when was it invented/discovered?
-what does it do?
-who might find it useful?

Minimum 1 paragraph, absolute maximum of 3.
The catch is that you need to write your assignment using one of the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes Quills. It can either work perfectly or not, it’s completely up to you. If necessary, provide a translation of your work and be sure to show which kind of quill you chose (just saying ‘I chose this one’ isn’t enough, be creative.)

Due: 2 weeks from this post.

(That is, 9am GMT, Wednesday 17th of June, give or take ten or so minutes.)

Herbology homework is up. ^^

Quote:

1. List 3 things you learned in Herbology today.

2. Second, choose one of the following options and execute it with either words or pictures or a combination of the two.

Option One: Find or "invent" a spell you would use to improve these giant water lilies, whether it be to extend the flowers' blooming, make them more durable to humans walking on them, more compatible for water boat races etc. Explain your idea and why you would want to improve the lilies this way.

Option Two: Research a magical plant you would be interested in crossbreeding with a water lily and predict what the outcome would be, the uses of this new magical-mundane hybrid, what sort of environment or care it would need, etc.

You may only turn in one option (but yes, please do part one) and you may be allowed to experiment with your creation if you pick option two.

DUE DATE: June 30th for it all
Edit :: Send it via PM to BanaBatGirl, with the title of the PM reading, "Herbology Homework #_" and don't forget to include your character's name, SS user name, member ID number, and House in the PM. =]

Apparition Lessons
Lesson 1 Information

Attention all Hogwarts students fourth year and above! The Ministry of Magic has teamed with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to bring to you an opportunity to work towards earning your license to apparate. Mrs. Bella Greingoth, Department Head of Magical Transportation, and her assistant Mrs. Madison Masterson (mommy-to-be and wife of groundskeeper Neo Masterson), will serve as your Apparition instructors.

Mrs. Greingoth and Mrs. Masterson will also be utilizing the prefects' gold stars and demerits systems throughout their lessons. The awarding of three of either one will be brought to the attention of the Hogwarts staff. So come on out, prepare yourself for apparation, and maybe earn a few rewards for your house while you're at it!

Who: Any students in their fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh years may attend; however, only those age seventeen and older will be given a license to apparate upon course completion.

When: Lesson 1 will begin Sunday, June 21 (class will remain open until Tuesday, June 23, though)

Where: On the grounds of Hogwarts (thread will be created Sunday)

--------------------

OOC: Regardless of whether or not you attended lessons last term, you may still attend the new lessons. Because I'm new to the position, I'll pretty much be starting anew with the lessons. Stacey and I (along with the help of a few others :shifty:) have some really exciting, shifty-filled lessons planned. We'll hold three lessons, with a possible fourth, depending on how our plotting goes with the first three lessons.

MUGGLE STUDIES LESSON 3

SUBJECT – It will definitely have to do with WATER

DATE: Beginning 5:00 p.m. GMT (12:00 noon EST, 9:00 a.m. PST) Saturday, July 25. Homework will be assigned, and the class will run for a few days. Don’t worry!

First, I would like to announce that due to an unfortunate chain of events, Muggle Studies class will be held on the 3rd Floor of Hogwarts (in the Charms classroom area, which Professor Ashby is kindly letting me share) rather than the usual location.

Apparition Lessons
Lesson 2 Information

*Lesson 2 will be for students of all ages (1st - 7th), as the topic is Side-Along Apparition (and the older ones need someone to practice on :P).

Important Notice: This is the second and final Apparition lesson to be held at Hogwarts this term. Apparition 3 will be held for 6th and 7th years only, and they will be transported via side-along apparition to the Ministry of Magic. While there, they will actually take the Apparition test to qualify for a license. Kris and Tiff have graciously set it to where when you pass, we can edit your Apparition license into your post profile the same way OWLs and NEWTs are done. All participating 6th and 7th years who complete and pass the Apparition test will receive a license in their post profile.

In the meantime, Lesson 2 will be for all students 1st - 7th years. Get ready for...

The muggle game of baseball!

Our groundskeeper, Mr. Masterson, has graciously agreed to assist us with this lesson. Game points will be scored and turned into gold stars. As with last lesson, gold stars will be turned into house points---so come on out, prepare yourself for apparation, and maybe earn a few rewards for your house while you're at it!

When: Lesson 2 will begin Sunday, July 26 around 3 PM EST.

Where: On the grounds of Hogwarts (thread will be created Sunday)

--------------------

OOC: Regardless of whether or not you attended lessons last term, you may still attend the new lessons. If you didn't attend Apparition 1 this term, no worries. You may, of course, attend this lesson.

There are 5 questions, worth 2 points each. There is an extra credit question at the end worth up to 5 points.

1. Name one favorite place where the muggles enjoy vacationing which is located near the water.

2. Refer to the textbook referenced in the first post of this thread. Which water sport sounds the most fun to you?

3. What muggle food do you think would be the most fun to eat by the seaside?

4. What is one disaster which could cause flooding inside a muggle building?

5. Besides the water sports, what is one more reason the muggles like to be by the sea that you can think of?

Extra credit -

Why do you think the muggles see the merpeople as being overly attractive? (Just a brief reason is fine. You don't have to write an essay for this!)

Please owl your answers to me, Slytherin Fox, on or before 12:00 midnight EST Monday August 3, 2009. Please include your screenname, house and user number (your user number can be found by highlighting your mouse over your name and looking towards the bottom of your screen.)

The spell is bestiar (body part), and think of the body part of the animal you want as you have the other student cast the spell on you. When you're ready, take out your wand and gently clean the hoof with water, using the augamenti and scourgify charms."

Professor Morgan released her hold on Trinity's leg and laid it back on the ground. Then she raised her wand again and the partition disappeared. "Everyone begin. I'll be right here if you need assistance.

Year-Long Divination Homework

At the end of Lesson One (see posts 1 & 2), Professor Kapoor had each student collect a fluffy yellow baby duckling. You were instructed to get ONE per student and be careful as to not insure it.

Your mission is to name the duckling and teach it to draw from a deck of cards. They may be any cards, so long as they are symbolic. Kapoor would like for you to keep track of your progress on sheets of parchment and turn them in by the end of the term.
-----------------------------------

And thank you guys so much for making this term be so awesome!! As of right now we are not too far behind the Ravvies for the house cup, so hang in there, we may be able to pull it off.
