With all the screeching and shouting coming from the second floor,Sarah figured there must be something happening,something wrong.She was quick like that you see!
Running down the stairs she came to a sudden halt as water lapped the bottom.Oh hell no! But what was that? Students defending the Headmasters office from.....MERMEN & GRINDYLOWS?!?! It was right at that moment that she wanted to faint,wanted to get the heck away from there and save herself.Only they didn't appear to be doing too well,and a second year Huffie looked and sounded like he was having a fit of some kind.Oh I gotta help,even if I freeze in this water.

Flicking her wrist to expose her wand in her holster,Sarah grabbed it and pointed it out in front of her.She started moving forward towards the others,careful not to step on anything submergedand dodging merpeople,as she waded through the murky,cold stuff.
Upon reaching the Huffie she put her hand on his shoulder in a concerned manner. "Are you alright? What the heck is that noise?! And what is going on???!!" That last question directed more at anyone who wanted to answer it,preferably a knowledgable teacher.

Disarm them? What the blooming hell were they doing here in the first place? Spotting a merman close by Sarah aimed her wand at it and said in the most confident voice she could muster... "Expelliarmus!!!"

Nikita turned a corner and found the source of all the horrible screeching. Students of all ages fighting off - merpeople and grindylows. Oh dear. This wasn't something she could turn away from, but it wasn't something she wanted to join in, either. Gripping her flame necklace tightly, Nikita sloshed and splashed through the water on the floor until she reached the back line of students.

Spotting a Hufflepuff (MeredithRodneyMcKay) near her, Nikita trudged her way over to the girl. "Any idea what happened here?" she said loudly over the spell casting and Mermish.

Merpeople all around...what to do? Nikita blanked. Panicking? Since when did she panic?

"It's mermish..." Varius said a little confused, "Was it not? Maybe i'm speaking troll and not realising it... It has been a while, too." Varius was under the impression Bunz would KNOW Mermish, of course. She was a Professor - shouldn't it be a requirement of sorts? 'Know Mermish in case we get attacked by merpeople' -- yeh, that sounded pretty reasonable!

Varius moved away from the Professor slightly as she began throwing the disarming spell their way. He placed his wand back in his pocket. He couldn't attempt to communicate with them and then ATTACK them... it would be counter-effective.

"What do you mean what will they attack us with then?" Varius pondered on it for a moment. They did have magic it would seem if they could flood the castle... if they didn't have those weapons maybe they would start attacking them magically, also. "You may have a point," Varius admitted, quite sure being attacked by whatever enchantments the merpeople possessed would maybe be a lot worse than those spears...

"I'm fine. I think it's Lawson who needs more help than anybody though," Varius had just noticed the wound his DADA professor was sporting. It looked sore. "I'm just trying to... you know... talk to them," the more people questioned what he was saying, the more he regretted opening his mouth. Maybe he wasn't making any sense and being idiotic as usual? He was Varius Tipps afterall.

He moved away from this girl, also, when she began casting the disarming spell. He was Switzerland, right? Yeh! Until they throw a spear through HIS shoulder, that is.

Sarah had the sudden feeling that someone was behind her.Spinning round,wand still firmly in hand,she was relieved to see it was only another student,Slytherin judging by the robes.And she wanted to know what was going on. "I have no idea!," she shouted back,trying to make herself heard too. "It was like this when I got here.But I'm guessing we have some very angry merpeople who appear to be attacking everyone else.Someone said something about disarming them,so that's what I'm trying!" She gestured to the girl,intimating she should get her wand out in case she needed to defend herself.Poor girl looked a little panicked.

Oh he was talking to them?
They didn't really look to be in the mood for negotiating,but it's always worth a try."Right! I've not heard Mermish before,I had no idea the screeching was a language! Wait did you say something about Lawson?" Sarah looked round to where the DADA professor was.He did appear to have a wound of some kind,and was not in great shape,but what could she do? She can't heal people. The nurse would help right? That's what she was here for.....right?

"We don't WANT to be attacked, Karsten, or do you fancy a gaping wound in your shoulder?" Bunbury practically growled at the kid. Then he started trying to disarm the mercreatures though, which was good. About time!

"Oh... OH! No no, that was Mermish. Of course I understood it perfectly." Annie nodded like she actually knew what she was talking about and continued shooting a few spells at the grindylows. If they tried to get to her shoes again..... oh grrrrr.

So she hated him during Herbology, and now she hated him during near death experiences. Professor Bunbury was one evil witch, yes she was, and Clifford hoped her the grindylows ate her shoes.

Huffing a little, Clifford re-aimed his wand at the group of merpeople. HMPF.

"Lovely," Nikita remarked sarcastically. "attacking Merpeople." Glancing around at the chaos, she realized what the girl was indicating - get your wand out now, you idiot! She snatched her wand out of her robes in an instant. With her other hand, Nikita gripped her flame necklace. Elise she thought, would have loved this. One deep breath was all it took to completely settle her mind and prepare her for the task at hand - disarming Merpeople. Right.

She wormed her way through the throng until her wand arm was free to take a shot at a Merperson and not a student. "Expelliarmus!" she shouted. It missed the intended Merman. Now was not the time to be rusty; Nikita wished she'd taken dueling.

Chris could have smacked his head as Bunbury said the obvious that no one else had seemed to think about. Stun them. "Great Idea Professor, Expelliarmus!!!" he pointed his wand at the nearby Merperson.

Still behind Paris, his eyes searching the ground for more grindylows William was on a mission. He'd feel horrible if anything happened to Paris, she was putting herself out there for him, and here he was standing behind her. No, that wouldn't do. Moving up beside her he gave her a look that said 'I'm standing beside you no matter what' and nodded before pointing his wand at a few merpeople, his voice strong as he shouted "Expelliarmus" before turning back to the ground and saying "Stupefy!"

He pointed over to where the girl had started looking -- the place where Lawson currently was. Injured. "By the looks of it he got stabbed by one of those thingymajigs," he nodded his head towards the merpeople, trying to indicate the spears and tridents. "They really are serious about this invasion."

"Oh good," this made Varius feel much better about himself. However, he couldn't help feel as if she was just trying to make him feel better about himself... she probably had no clue... "So, you don't mind that I told them we would offer you as sacrifice... your shoes too? You are such a hero Professor Bunbury," probably not the time to be kidding around, but anything to lighten the situation right?

Great idea professor, indeed! Now the Mermish fraud was taking credit for his ideas too! Miss Bunbury, how dare thee!

Thomas was watching silently and stiffly how the others were dueling against all the grindylows and merpeople. He didn't dare to move any part of his body right know because he terrified. Luckily nothing was attacking him but he rather bad looking at everyone fighting and him doing nothing.

Dani was still crying. "Has anybody seen my waaaaand!?" She yelled at the top of her lungs. She felt horribly depressed without it. She looked around. She couldn't see it floating anywhere. Maybe someone had picked up. There was no way her mom would buy her a new one. This was not good. Not good at all.

Chris heard Dani scream for her wand. This was not a good situation to lose you wand in. "Hey Dani I can help." he said in the absence of a Grindylow or merperson attacking. "Accio Dani's wand!" he waited a second and a brown wand flew out of the water and flew into his hand. He tossed it to Dani, "There you go!" he said looking around for any attackers

"There, there Dani. The nice prefect got your wand." Jule said, trying to comfort her but she kept crying. Sigh. Her fellow, blonde Ravenclaw seemed distressed after all that's been happening. Jule still had her wand out just in case they tried something else...again. Nasty Merpeople.

Rave raised an eyebrow, "Dont worry, if you really get scared, stand behind me." she said in monotone. "Maybe," she added hesitantly, "If your really nervous, you should return to the common room. Just so you dont get attacked." 'Or accidentally hit one of us.' she found herself thinking. "I'm Rave by the way."

Going back to the common room seemed like a stellar idea but--Reese would stay here. It was inevitable. And he couldn't let her stay here and get hit on by more ugly merman! What if they came back and tried to POKE her again? He was not going to allow it!

"No, I'll stay--I can handle it," Jack replied, trying to muster up his courage. "We have to protect the...SCHOOL!" he exclaimed as he glanced over at Reese really quick.

He held his wand aloft, ready to disarm those silly merwoman if they came anywhere near them. Gulp.

Thomas made sure he had his wand even though he was holding it in his hand. He looked to his left making sure that nothing would jump behind everyone. All he saw was water and the door to the girls bathroom. The first year tried to stay calm even though everyone could become human sushi.

Glancing over in the direction Jack had looked, Rave saw the reason for him staying, even though he was obviously scared. "I agree, the school needs our help." she responded with an amused look.

Spotting a merwoman a ways off, Rave pointed her wand, "Expelliarmus!"

Good,the older girl had taken her head movement in the way she had intended.Now they were all armed and ready to strike back.Hopefully.

"Spears??!!" Sarah almost screamed the word when she saw what the merpeople were holding,and what Varius was gesturing at. "Oh this is just so not fair!"
She began moving slowly around,trying to find a merman that wouldn't see her coming,shouting "Expelliarmus!" at anything moving that wasn't a student or teacher.So far so good.Urrgghhhh

Sarah spotted a first year Ravvie stood to the side who appeared to be in shock.She wadded her way over to him and smiled. "You here to help? You can do it,just point at anything that is half fish and use the disarming spell." She offered a weak grin,then jumped when something brushed her leg under the water. "Arrggghhh what was that??!! Expelliarmus!!!" Pointing her wand at the water a flash of light flew from it in the direction of a merman.

Dani stopped crying and smiled at Chris. "Thaaaaaank Youuuuu!" She was so happy to have her wand back that she sent a stream of red sparks into the air. Oops. She hoped nobody yelled at her for that, it was an accident. She backed toward everyone else. She did not want to get stabbed again. That had hurt. And her merman tackling days were over, for the moment anyway.

Elizabeth had decided, after all was said and done with her argument with Robert, to humor him and go back to the hospital wing. Even though her head still didn't hurt anymore, she had a feeling he would worry until she was able to tell him specifically that she'd gotten it checked and that she was fine. Stupid fact that he'd gotten ten times as many concussions as her.

But as she'd arrived on the third floor, she'd heard yelling, shrieking, and utter chaos from below her, and, knowing she was risking being called stupid and reckless again if Robert found out, she crept past the hospital wing and down the stairs to the second floor. Looking down, she saw that apparently the flooding had continued, so, before she got too far down the stairwell, she cast Impervius on her shoes and clothes, and looked curiously at the water as she stuck a foot in and her foot repelled it. At least whatever may have been wrong didn't apparently extend to her spellcasting (except for healing, which hadn't been good before the injury). Which, as she slowly crept further ahead, she realized would be helpful, as she saw professors and students alike battling merpeople. With spears and tridents and sharp weapons. She sighed. I am so going to be in trouble for this, she thought, before wading closer as she kept her wand ready. Which came in useful as she managed to get a clear shot at one of the merpeople somehow, since she could quickly cast. Expelliarmus!, she thought, figuring even with all the yelling going on around, nonverbal would still be a slight surprise. Watching the light from her spell speed toward the merperson, another thought hit her, and once the creature was disarmed, her eyes followed the spear as it flew away, surreptitiously doing the wand movement for a Vanishing charm as she cast that spell as well. Evanesco! Disarming would be okay, but only if you could guarantee the merpeople couldn't just get back to their weapons and pick them up again. Hence the Vanishing them, since the creatures couldn't rearm themselves if their weapons were gone completely.

It seemed like no one would get out of this nightmare it seemed like they were surrounded for ever how will we get rid of the disgusting creatures. Thomas searched for a way out and he was in a dilemma should he help everyone or should he take care for himself to make sure he was safe. The first year looked behind him even though it was silent behind everyone he wanted to make sure. He pointed his at the water and he said "Stupfy," and waited to see if his spell had an effect.

Having just dodged quite a few merpeople and grindylows, Anna made her way to the gargoyle entrance and stood with her back facing it and her wand raised. Her eyes scanned the crowd, focusing some on the merpeople and grindylows and some on her friends and professors. If one of the creatures came anywhere close to where she was standing, she'd cast Expelliarmus and hopefully disarm it in no time. Merpeople without their spears and tridents surely weren't as big of a threat as they are now, that was for sure.

Well why dont you just look at that? The Fritzman was proving to be quite heroic throughout this whole insane ordeal. "Right on, Fritzera!" she called out, briefly fist-pumping her wand into the air. "Let's save the SCHOOL!" She had a feeling the school wasn't the only thing on Jack's mind, though, as she kept glancing over at Reese to ensure that she was still alright and not being hit on by any other merman. How cute. The Fritzman and Reese...

Apparently a younger Slytherin girl had caught on to Jack's little glances to Reese, as well, as she was watching the two with a rather amused look. Anna jumped, though, when the girl casted Expelliarmus. Anna pointed her wand towards the merwoman, as well, and called out, "Expelliarmus!" Hopefully a bit of teamwork would take the creature down in no time.

Reese stayed in her spot as she kept a close eyes on the entrance to the Headmaster's office. She didn't really want to fight, but she knew she had to at some point. If they were going to save Hogwarts, then everyone was going to have to help. Everyone including Reese Upstead.

Hearing Jack say they needed to protect the school, she turned her full attention to him. That's when she notice that he was looking at her! Hmm. She was starting to wonder that saving Hogwarts wasn't all that he was staying here for. Maybe he was staying here for her, too! Aww. Jack had already saved her from having a trident pointed at her, he was probably going to stay here until the end to make sure she didn't have ANOTHER trident pointed at her.

"That's the attitude I want to see, Jack. We need to protect Hogwarts! Whooo!" She finally spoke up. Making her way over to Jack and Anna, she kept a close eye at the water near her feet. Where were those Grindylows? As she finally made it over to her friends, she looked at the merperson Anna and the Slytherin girl had shot a spell at. Not really minding that she had said she wasn't going to fight unless they needed her, she pointed her wand at the same merwoman the two girls had shot at. "Expelliarmus," she called out.

Daniel was in the middle of the commotion and was trying to get a composure for himself. He heard Professor Bunbury say disarm the Merpeople so he shoots, Expelliarmus towards the creatures followed by Stupefy to stun them.

"Professor, I know a spell that can possibly stop them all at once, but can paralyze or worst kill them also." he exclaimed towards Professor Bunbury.
