Dani slammed down, hard, despite the fact that the water hand softened the blow slightly. Her whole body hurt, but she stood back up. The merman had grabbed the boy that had tried to help her. It was all her fault. Her shoulder was still bleeding, and a new gash on her forehead was as well, but she ran back over and stood in front of the merman. "Put him down!" She swayed from side to side as she spoke, and then fell over. She had passed out.

Anna could speak MERMISH!? If she started screeching like that while he was still atop her back, she'd burst his eardrums for sure. Still, there was no way.. NO WAY on this Earth, he was ready to let go. He wasn't about to become grindylow food. NUH UH.

Clifford watched horrified as the merpeople brandished their tridents and flung the younger students about. "They really do mean business..." he gulped, pointing his wand at them.. he had no idea what to do with it though.

They were no match against merpeople surely!

He wanted his comfort blanket. SOB.

"Talk to them in mermish, Anna!" The not so brave seventh year wailed, covering his ears ready.

HOOOLY FISHPASTE.

So Cam HAD heard the monsters mermaids from down the Great Hall, but he was thinking when they would actually come out of there. Oh why couldn't they just stay in the Great Hall foooorevahh?! So mean. He DESPISED the evil mermaids and their little... pets or whatever you call them and he wasn't really some sort of a swimmer but the water wasn't THAT high enough for it to go over his puuuny body.

And he saw them. Grindylows and the ugly Selkies. NO. WAY. This was AWESOME. Seeing these creatures in PERSON just... it was a once in a life time opportunity!

Who can speak Mermish? "OOH," he raised his hand (was it even a time to raise hands), "I caaaaan. Understand it." Actually SPEAK the dang thing? He couldn't really understand HOW Merpeople could make their voices sound like screeching above water and then real voices underwater. But EEEEEP! The screeching, they hurt.

Everyone was panicking. PLUS he was wet.

Chris pointed his wand at a girl who had just passed out and put a cushening charm on her as she fell. He then pointed his wand back at the Merpeople to makesure they stopped attacking.

He then heard Clifford say something strange. "Anna, you can speak Mermish?" he asked suprised.

"EVERYONE STAND IN FRONT OF THE DOOR TOGETHER. KEEP YOUR WANDS UP AND SEND WHATEVER SPELL YOU KNOW AT THEM. I WANT YOU ALL UNITED IN THIS." Marcus yelled as he lunged toward the Merman holding the kid by the throat.

Oh.

Nice punch.

Reese followed Jack back to the suit of armor, not that she really had a choice since he had a tight grip on arm. She really wished she had taken the time to memorize mermish, but she didn't. Not needing to pull her wand out since she was already holding it, she just gripped it tighter. Nope. She wasn't afraid to use it if they tried to attack her.

She turned to Anna when she told them what the merperson had said to her. Come here child? COME HERE CHILD?! They wanted her! She backed up against the wall as she looked at the merpeople and Anna as she said they also said something about stupid wizards. Excuse me, she wasn't stupid.

Her eyes widened in fear when the merpeople grabbed this boy by the throat and held him against the wall. Ohmygosh. She quickly clinged herself to Jack and buried her face into his clothes. Nope. She wasn't going to watch the scene in front of her.

Paris nodded at Professor Lawson's instructions. She pushed herself against the door with her wand drawn. She kicked at a grindylow that was creeping at her ankles. "Stupfy!" She pointed her wand at the merperson holding the Gryffindor.

Jule pointed her wand at the grindylow as she slowly made her way towards Dani. Chris had casted a spell to cushion her fall. If only these disgusting creatures would just leave them alone and go back to the lake. She then made her way towards the front of the door and hoped for the best. With her wand pointed t them, her legs were becoming weak from the other attack in the corridor.

Okay OKAY there was almost too much going on here for Anastasia to handle. Disclaimer time.

"I DON'T SPEAK MERMISH EITHER!" she shouted and flailed her arms like that would help. "But judging from their faces, it doesn't matter WHAT you say!"

She pointed her wand at the Ravenclaw and quickly levitated her unconscious body out from under the merman's...er...flippers and over to Avalon. At least the girl wasn't as much of a problem now.

Turning back to the influx of students claiming to speak mermish, Annie started shouting again. "Fine then, mer-speakers, SAY SOMETHING! Like GO AWAY to them!!1!!" Bunbury stared flailing her arms again. "STUPEFY!" she added, flicking her wand at the merman holding a boy up by the neck. Well she was about the fifth person to try that so he'd better be released.

Chris backed against the door with Professor Lawson and everyone else. He watched as a Grindylow came close to the group. "Relashio!" he said cutting one of it out-stretched limbs. "Stupefy!" he sent it flying away.

One of the Merwomen didn't like that.

No she did not.

It was not enough that her tasty snack of students had to be accompanied by adults, and the tasty children were fighting back, but one of the NASTY FOUL ADULTS was their ring leader!

Well! There was only one thing to do about that.

Lunging forward with lightening speed Big Fishy Merwoman with the biggest, sharpest, trident STABBED The MAN-ADULT!

Stabbed him deep, right in the shoulder.

HAHA!! I poked your butt. I poked your butt. The Merman watched as the boy scuttled away and he turned his ugly head back to the kid against the wall.

OOMPF!! The Merman tightened his grip on the kid. If he did that again he was going to make a shish kebab out of him with his spear and feed him the Giant squid.

Ah there was that pretty girl again. He liked that one. "Youuuuuuu" he pointed his finger at her.

Chris watched in horror as the trident of one of the main merpeople stabbed Lawson in the shoulder! He asked before he had time to think. "NOOOOOO!!! Stupify!!!!" he sent the spell right at the merperson.

"Professor!!" Paris screamed as she watched the merwoman stab Professor Lawson. She rushed over to him to catch him if he fell and to protect him if he dropped his wand.

Ok that was it. She wasn't going to be nice and cute anymore. "Sectumsempra!" She shouted at the merwoman with pure venom in her voice. The anger was rolling off her tiny body.

Well, obviously that didn't work. What was he gonna do now? He couldn't scream. He knew these people saw him. Nate could see no good out come right now. He did the only thing he could think of. Nathaniel started to FLAIL! The kid that was never scared of ANYTHING was scared now. Where was Mariel when he needed her?!

Torin stepped right in front of Reese when that Merman pointed at her. And Lawson... He was stabbed?!

He wanted to leave now. He was getting tired of all this.

Were they talking to HER?!

Reese looked up and saw that, in fact, the merperson was talking to her. "I....don't understand," she spoke up. She looked at Jack, then towards Anna. She really really really wished she knew how to speak mermish
now. Then, Torin stepped in front of her. Yay for Torin!

It was official now. Jack and Torin were her HEROES!

After sending a stupify spell at the merperson, he saw Paris use a much more dangerous curse he was going to help too. "Incendio!" he shouted sending a bunch of flames at the attacking merpeople!

The trident sunk deep into his flesh and Lawson gritted his teeth. He would not scream like a girl in front of the students. But MERLIN'S PANTS THAT HURT. He slumped forward letting go of the Merman who had hold of the kid. He wanted to tell the kids to keep fighting but he seemed to have lost his voice as blood poured out of his shoulder.

Maybe he should have asked that Merwoman out on a date.

Caroline wished she had herself.

She bent over and fished the girl out.

This was not unlike her Mass Casualty Emergency Training, only there was ONE casualty... it was the situation that seemed familiar.

Caroline sealed that cuts with her wand quickly. And "Rennervate!" she cast to get the girl back on her feet.

She'd either have to keep on with it or get to higher ground, Cari thought grimly.

A shrill scream that would probably annoy the Merwomen escaped Caroline.

Leaving Dani where she was, Cari scrambled over to Marcus. And assorted brave yet foolish students.

"Marcus! - " Panic was rising in her throat, but it quelled only a LITTLE when she saw the would was deep but not lifethreatening.

She couldn't fix that with wound binding spells though. She'd have to conjure something better.

But seeing as he'd at least live...

Next Order of business:

"PARIS GREENWOOD HAVE YOU ANY BRAIN'S AT ALL!?" She bellowed at the child. "GET AWAY! GET BACK! GET AS FAR FROM ANYTHING THAT MIGHT ATTACK ANYONE AS YOU CAN MANAGE!! ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVOKE THEM!? DEFENDING! NOT ATTACKING!"

"I'm trying, I'm trying! It's hard to remember each and every sound from that book we read," she said, flailing about a little as she tried to piece the sounds together. She knew what she wanted to say, but it was just a matter of getting each and every sound together. Knowing her luck, she'd probably completely get confused and shout out the wrong phrase or something of that sort. She glanced over at Cam, Reese, Cy, and a few others, silently asking for their help if they, too, were to remember any phrases.

Dani's eyes popped open. Her whole body hurt. Oww. And Miss Avalon was right above her. Strange. She stood slowly, and wanted to cry. Looking around she saw that the boy was in even more trouble and Professor Lawson was bleeding. "I'm okay," She said to the Healer even though her head was pounding. "You might want to go help him though." Professor Lawson was bleeding even more than she had been.

"Reducto!" she shouted. She didn't care what worked as long as something did.

Professor Lawson slumped against her and she caught him around the waist. She tried to move away from the fighting to get him to safety, but she couldn't support his weight. "Chris help me!" She shouted at him as she kept her wand pointed at anything that wasn't human that was moving.

He looked back and Lawson was gushing blood on the floor. "Oh My God! help me." he pointed his wand at Lawson "We need to hover him over to Avalon ok?" he said the spell and lifter him up.

...

What did THAT mean?

He hoped it was something good.. Not something like 'please get this giant lug off my back and eat him.' Nah, Anna wouldn't do that to him. She was actually being alright.

But... MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!

Clifford winced as Professor Lawson got stabbed.. that had to hurt. Now - now he had to try and be a man and actually help. Right. "I'm.. I'm gonna get down, Anna.." he warned, before hopping off her back and swaying in the water a little. Oh gawd.

Pulling off his heavy robes, Clifford let them sink behind him and moved forward a little, wand aimed at the chest of a scary looking merman. GULP.
