Irial Darkk walked out of the library, a book in hand. He hadn't felt so refreshed in a while. The solitude really did him good. Tucking the book into his cloak, which he'd taken to wearing around the school in substitution for his trenchcoat, he walked along the fourth floor corridor, yawning slightly. He wondered where his friends were. Aries, he was sure his brother was up to no good somewhere...Rhea, probably practicing quidditch. Dru, he couldn't be sure, and...was that it? Well, there was Steven, but he hadn't seen him for a while. Huh. He didn't have many friends, did he? Oh well. The fewer the better, right? Those he did consider friends were very dear to his heart.
But still...it got lonely, if everyone was busy. And he wasn't really up to causing trouble with his brother. He loved the guy, but they both needed time to themselves once in a while. Sighing, Irial stopped at a window, and looked out.

Hmm. There he was again, looking lonely. It never ceased him to look out of place in this castle, and the seventeen year old girl who was watching him couldn't figure out why. Which is exactly what she planned to do. Now, yes. By himself, lonely, just like her.
Karma had came down the stairs from her own common room to find the boy standing by a window. Maybe now would be the time to ask him. "You don't seem to fit in around here," she said quietly, not wanting to scare him. "Or, you don't want to fit in around here. Am I right?"
She pushed her hair behind her ear as she walked closer. Stopping about ten feet away, she crossed her arms. Prepare for the attack.

Irial turned when he heard footsteps in the corridor. It was a Ravenclaw girl, he could tell by the color on her robes, and she was speaking to him. He furrowed his brow before considering her question. It was quite bold and straightforward. He wondered what he'd done to garner such a question from a girl he'd never spoken to before. He saw her once or twice in the school, but other than that, never before.
He watched as she moved her hair behind her ear and stepped closer. It took a few moments before he responded to her, but he did.
"What an odd question," Irial said quietly, turning so his body was leaning against the window sill. He crossed his arms over his chest and studied her. She seemed a bit older than him, but that didn't intimidate him. Nothing really did. She was standing quite far away from him. Why? Was she worried he was going to lash out at her or something? Well she was sadly mistaken.
"Why do you ask?" he questioned. "It's not that I don't want to fit in, I just find some students more fascinating than others. I like to watch, rather then befriend them." To put it simply:
"I'm more of a loner."

Karma studied him for a moment while he spoke. Soft voice, gentle, but had that hint of mystery behind it. Of course it did, he was secretive. Especially with his last answer, of just observing and not interacting.
Taking a few steps closer to him, she titled her head when he was speaking. Observing - she did that a lot, finding many people interesting here at the castle. Rather odd ones too. "Just curious," she said. "You know, being a nosey know-it-all and everything. That and, I've heard from a few select people about your temper. You're the oldest of the Darkk brothers, aren't you?"
She also leaned against the wall, arms still folded. His eyes were dark. Darker than her liking, and it was almost unnatural for him to be in Gryffindor.

Irial almost smiled. So she'd heard about his temper. That must be why she was standing so far away from him. His gaze drifted up and down her, considering her once more. She was interesting, he'd give her that. Certainly not like the other girls he'd observed here at school. Though he didn't really care for any of them. They were all too superficial and snobby.
"Yes, I am," he said in response to her question. "I'm the oldest of the two of us." He wondered what else she knew about him. What rumors had been going on in the school about him and his brother. He certainly wasn't going to ask her. He was curious, but honestly, he didn't care what people were saying about him.
He watched as she mimicked his actions. His purple eyes glittered as they stood there, both quiet.

Aha, so he could do something with his face other than stare. There was no escaping the slight smile that the boy began to give her, and Karma couldn't help but smirk. He was carefully observing her, and she noticed that. It wasn't like she wasn't doing the same to him. "For your information, I'm Karma. Yes, it's a unique name," she said, without giving him a chance to comment. "I'm from Germany, if that explains anything. And I'm a seventh year."
His eyes were getting to her, they were just so deep. Like a million things were going through his mind, and none of them would ever slip out. It wasn't time to play games, never in his presence. Considering why she'd been so bold before. "You have a secret," she said, head tilting again. "Something very unfortunate. You know, the eyes are said to be the windows to a person's soul, their innermost thoughts and desires. They all have a different story to tell. And you, Mister Darkk, are one with a story, correct?"

Irial nodded cordially, and waited until she was completely finished speaking until he replied. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Karma," her voice rolled off his tongue with an interested note. Karma. She was right. It was indeed a unique name. He had to admit it, he did like it. And it seemed to suit her. "I'm a sixth year, though that fact is hardly useful, as you probably knew that. Nor am I probably wrong in you already knowing that my full name is Irial Darkk."
He wasn't upset that she knew his name, he was just surprised that his, and his brother's names had slipped through the grapevine so fast. It was interesting, but daunting as well. People would know him, as this girl seemed to, and they'd never leave him alone. Oh well. He'd learn to deal with it. He seemed to be handling this one quite well. Though she was interesting in herself, and fascinating.
When she asked if he had a story, his eyes narrowed just a fraction, barely noticeable. What else had been going through the rumor mill?
"Why are you so curious, Miss Karma?" he asked, tilting his head as well. "You certainly are nosy, as you said a few moments ago." He paused, contemplating if he should answer her question. As it turned out, he decided not to, and fell silent, a small smiled playing on his lips.

Karma's eyes also narrowed at his mention of her curiosity. Maybe it was just her hypersensitivity to emotions, or it could have been something else. She was fascinated by this boy, for some strange reason.
Smirking as he said her name, she ran and hand through her hair. Her way of letting someone know she was being open, in a way. "I would call it an intuition," she said. "Not merely just being nosey. A sixth sense, if you're into cliche matters as far as that one goes. More, I just know things that other people don't."
His movements were swift, and she wondered how that would be. And, if anything, why he was so known around the school. Even she didn't know, the only information just came from the part that her little "brother" had told her.
He wasn't going to tell her right away, so neither was she to tell him how she knew of his feelings. Touché.

Irial nodded slightly, and he shifted his weight to the other foot. This girl was certainly something he hadn't encountered before, at least not in Hogwarts. Maybe this school held more mystery than he'd been first led to believe when he first came to this school. Now that he was back, there were plenty of pestering students, but this girl was slowly changing his mind on his opinion of the entire student body.
"Intuition, hmm?" He was intrigued, that much was true, but she wasn't giving much information about herself either. Maybe he'd met his match? Nah. He doubted it. And yet, she knew things that others didn't. Hmm. Wonder what that was all about.
Irial was curious about this girl, but he didn't really care too much with figuring out someone else's mystery. He was just concerned with staying in the school until he graduated. He'd already made good on his promise to Kazimeriz with keeping his temper in check. And he was doing well. His brother on the other hand...not so much.
To be frank, Irial wanted to stay out of the public eye as much as he could. But he doubted that he was going to, since this girl, Karma, was a know-it-all. She was probably a gossip girl as well. It was better off if he told her nothing about himself. Not that he told anyone anything anyways.

Karma could feel his eyes judging her, and she didn't even need to look into them to know that. It was his aura that she could feel right now, and he wasn't much of a talker. Hmm. She would have to change that. "You're interested as well," she said, smirking. "Interested in how I know such things, am I right?"
Not that she was a mind reader or anything, but if she wanted to, she was sure she could do that. Occlumens were extremely hard to come across, but if you were born with it? Well, let's just say it was a family secret.
He was judging her again. Probably because she said she was a know-it-all. Which, really, she could be. But she didn't prance about. "You believe I have a big mouth too," she said, trying to not laugh. "Even though I may know things that others don't, doesn't mean others who don't know them need to know. In other words - I know when to shut up. Whereas, others don't, who get reprimanded by me for it."
Mister shadowy figure here. Karma wanted to know more about him, and when he wanted her to go, leave him alone, or do whatever, she would. "I'm very cooperative. You like to be a loner - I respect that. But it doesn't hurt to have a few friends, you know."

Irial frowned. The girl talked too much, and he voiced his opinion about it. "You certainly speak frequently, don't you?" he asked her, not condescending, just observant. He had no attitude in his voice. He was just stating a simple fact. As for what she was saying, it was quite interesting. He wondered if she really could read his mind. Interesting. Definitely interesting.
She was trying to coax him into believing that she was trustworthy. He almost laughed out loud at that, but instead let the small smile adorn his lips once more. He wouldn't tell her anything, not now, not ever. She may be a trustworthy person to her friends, but he was wary. No one needed to know about him and his brother, and no one was going to know.
"Cooperative, huh?" he said, after she finished speaking. It took him a good few minutes to reply to her, as he was studying her once more. "Cooperative how? Are you suggesting we become friends?" It was a laughable idea. He didn't go around making friend with everyone he met. Which was probably the reason he had so few. But he didn't mind that. The ones he had were loyal to him, and he to them. It was going to take a lot more than a few words and some mind reading parlor tricks to befriend Irial Darkk.

Oh, so he was getting attitude with her now. Maybe the little meeting wasn't such a good idea, seeing as how she had only tried to talk to him once, and was getting this from him. The Atkins' simply didn't deal with that kind of thing. "Cooperative," she began, after he reprimanded her for talking. "As in meaning you tell me to stop talking, I shut up. Or tell me to leave, I leave."
She knew the moment she left him, he would either be happy with the lonliness, or kicking himself for it. After all, she did nothing. And it wasn't as if she was trying to get him to spill his secrets either. Some things don't need to be said, which was understandable.
He almost laughed at her, which ticked her off slightly. There was no way that she was being funny, but he obviously thought it was. "There's more than what meets the eye in both of us. Surely you would agree."
If he didn't, he was lying. And Karma didn't tolerate liars.

Irial thought about that for a moment. So if he told her to go away, she would? Well, he certainly wasn't going to come right out and tell her to bug off. He was a smart mouth sometimes, but he certainly wasn't his brother. He had the sense enough to be nice. He may come off as a jerk sometimes, but it was just how Irial was. Those who knew him knew better. Just as Ari, or Rhea, or even better yet. Caitlin and Travis.
He nodded at Karma when she suggested that there was more than meets the eye to both of them. "I certainly do agree with you, Miss Karma," he replied. Irial could tell she was getting irritated with him, however. Her body language, the way she tensed up, well he was getting on her nerves. So be it. It was how he was. And he wasn't going to change how he was for one girl, be she Karma, or the Queen of England herself.
"I suggest, Miss Karma," he began, glancing around and pushing off against the wall and stepping closer to her, until he was about a foot away from her. He leaned in, slightly taller than her. "I suggest that we get to know each other a little better, don't you agree?"
She was intriguing, and he wanted something to do. Something to entertain him. The girl seemed just as interested in him, and he wondered if she'd refuse. Not waiting for her answer, he stepped back, his purple eyes glittering. His face was expressionless now, but the eyes shone with intrigued amusement.

At least he agreed with her on something. And he kept calling her Miss Karma - maybe a last name was required. Nah, if he needed to find her, she was the only Karma in this school. She could guarantee it, and bet her Gringotts account on it.
Before she knew it, he had been leaning closer to her. Rather than backing off, like normal people would, Karma stayed in place. He was taller, which didn't surprise her. She noticed him looking around, maybe to see if anyone was watching. As if it would be so mega important to be seen with her. Unless he was watching for someone, which would be a different story.
Her muscles had relaxed when he spoke to her. Get to know each other better. She needed entertainment. Why not. And now, he was expressionless as he leaned away. "I think you are right Mister Darkk," she said, looking up at him. Her eyes were sparkling as well. "But, define getting to know each other."
That could mean many things. Long talks, short ones in private places, long staring contests - whatever it was to let someone get to know someone else better.

Irial smiled, a different one this time. A crooked smile. It was the one he'd always saved for Caitlin. But now...after she and Travis. He brushed that thought out of his mind and blinked slowly at Karma. Define getting to know each other. Hmm.
"I suppose you should answer your own question, Karma," he said straightening up fully and crossing his arms over his chest once more. "Since you're the one who approached me."
It was quite silent in the corridor, save for their breathing and their moments of speaking. Irial reveled in the silence. And the light was dimming as well. Glancing around once more, not really looking for anyone, but just because he was beginning to get a crick in his neck, he stepped back again, now half hidden in the shadows.
This Ravenclaw girl was something else. He'd have to tell Aries about her. But he could already tell that Karma was someone that Aries could not handle. She didn't seem like much of a joker, like his younger brother was, but more like himself. Like Irial. Aside from the loner part. He could tell by the way this girl held herself that she had a lot of friends. He wondered how many of them were truly her friends, and how many were fair weather friends.
Then, suddenly, he asked her a question. One that he was sure she wasn't expecting.
"Are you involved with anyone?"
It was an odd, personal question, of course. But if Irial could know, it would probably explain a great deal about the girl's countenance. If she refused to tell him, then no bother. He was just curious. It didn't matter to him whether or not she was married, let alone involved with anyone.

Karma watched him smile, and it was interesting to say the least. Like he held it back, not meant to be seen unless he wanted it to be seen. But at least she was getting emotion out of him. That was a start. "I could answer my own question," she said, nodding her head. "But seeing as how you brought it up, you could do just the same."
True, she had approached him. Only to see what was so scary, so mysterious about him. Which just proves her own point that he was just like everyone else, just a loner. Never a bad thing, really.
He stepped back so that he almost couldn't be seen. The outline of his face looked even brighter than normal with the light shining on his figure. That's when she realized why his eyes were so dark - they were purple. And it wasn't so scary now that she knew they weren't black. She eased up a bit more.
Random question - where did that come from? Like, seriously. She blinked a few times before answering. "No, I'm not with anyone," she said. Not like it was a big secret. "No one here seems right for me." Or good enough. Except Cope, but he was just a good friend.

Irial nodded quietly, the smile on his face gone just as quickly as it had appeared. She was a smart girl, this one. Certainly more interesting than others. He contemplated her for a moment before answering her question from earlier.
"I suppose I shall define getting to know each other, since you seem reluctant to," his bright eyes glittered, "Perhaps a walk around the school? Just talking? Or would you rather something more...intimate?" he suggested. He was just teasing her, of course. He knew perfectly well of the rules that were in place here at Hogwarts. Besides, he didn't know her from Eve, and had no romantic interest in any of the girls here. Except perhaps Caitlin.
Speaking of involvements, Irial turned his attention back to Karma when she spoke once more. She wasn't with anyone. Well, that explained...nothing, surprisingly. Well, maybe a little bit. Was she trying this dark and mysterious act to lead him on? Or was she truly not interested in any of the students here like he was, or wasn't? He supposed the latter could be true. Since none of the students here were remarkably interesting.
"Peculiar," he noted out loud, stepping further back into the shadows until he was once more leaning against the wall, and a good ten feet or so away from the slightly older girl. "It seems we both have the same view on students here."

Clark walked into the hallway, his hand on Divad's shoulder. His evil plan would work, and Willow would be shown his devotion! He knew she would like lollipops..."What's your full name, son?" he laughed maniacly. "WHERE ARE THE LOLLIPOPS??"

At any rate, he was still fascinating in his own way. A little out of the ordinary, but all the same.
She raised an eyebrow at his "something more intimate". Of course he was teasing, but really? She looked down to see how short her skirt was or if her shirt was buttoned properly as if she was giving the wrong impression. Nothing out of the ordinary, so she looked back up. "A walk around the castle," she said. "Somewhere outside, or some place that's not around a lot of other people. That's usually the best environment to get to know someone."
He was commenting on her single status, and it surfaced why he asked. Depending on her answer, it would have told him something more about her. What he could get from that information, only she knew.
Their view was the same, but different. Some people were just, eh. Others were worth getting to know. "I wouldn't say it's the exact same. I, on one hand, take the risk of meeting people. Whereas you prefer to stand in the shadows."
He stepped away from her, which only made her want to step closer for a reaction. So she did, shortening the distance, but not too much. "I don't bite, you know."
