Karma walked smoothly into the classroom and nodded towards Professor Lawson. She spotted Emiliano and Kiri, and immediately sat down somewhere near the middle of them. She flashed a smile to each, before she let others take the first question. Duelling. She couldn't wait. |
"Yes exactly you are all correct. In a formal duel we bow to our opponents." Marcus spotted Caroline out of the corner of his eye, enter the room. Quote:
He turned back to the students. "No need to be alarmed. Healer Avalon is here to help demonstrate. So after we have bowed then what do we do?" |

William put up his hand. "You walk ... 10 steps from each other." right? He hadn't dueled very much so it's a good thing they were having a dueling lesson. |
Jack raised his hand, glancing wearily at the nurse as she walked in. Gulp. He did NOT want to end up in the Hospital Wing! "I believe after you bow, you turn and walk a certain distance away from them before turning to face them again, right?" he asked. |
"Bow, walk 10 paces away, then take your position," Karma said. "Whether that be defensive or the attacking position." |
A hand raised, he spoke, noticing Karma had arrived making him smile. "Well, it should be decided which opponent shall attack first, telling them which position to make. They face each other, then turn around to take ten paces away from each other, then taking positions, either defense or attack, respectively..." He said, trying to remember everything read. Gah...it was hard. Watching as Nurse Avalon walked in, he gulped. He wondered how hurt they could get during this lesson. Maybe a nice kick or...or...even ending in the hospital wing. Oh god..please...He had been trying to avoid going there for the whole year and it was ending on this...a dueling class? Gulp... |

"I wouldn't miss it," she replied in a similar murmur. She perched on the edge of his desk and took a deep breath. Duelling. Well she'd be fine... if she could handle her sister she could hold her own just about anywhere... right? Hmm... maybe not against an Auror, but he wasn't trying to hurt her. At least she hoped not. They WERE done being mad at each other. RIGHT? |
Abby sees Miss Avalon walk up to the front of the class. She freezes. Abby feels like she's back in detention. The only difference is Professor Lawson has replaced Professor Truebridge as Miss Avalon's dance partner. I guess this is waltzing lesson number two cleaverly disguised as a DADA class. "Don't you take out your wand, walk back ten paces from the center of the dueling area and then salute your opponent." A question for Miss Avalon, does Professor Lawson lead or do you? Abby you are going to end up in detention again before this class is over. |
Chris raised his hand. "Well aren't you supposed to turn away from the other person and walk-10 steps-I believe from them? Then take your position either attack or defensive." He said. He then noticed the nurse walked in. Oh no he hoped she was here to do duel. |
Paris turned to watch the nurse walk in. She shivered slightly and wondered what spells they were going to get to cast if they needed the nurse. She certainly didn't want to end up having to go to the hospital wing. She had managed to stay out of that place the whole term. She listened to everyone answers and figured she didn't have anything fresh to add. Everyone was right. She was itching to get started. She was a pretty good dueler. |
"Excellent. Yes after bowing we turn and walk back ten paces and as some have mentioned we then take our dueling stance." Marcus flicked his wrist and his wand slid into his hand from its holster. "You should place your feet slightly apart and with one foot slightly in front of the other for better balance and of course don't forget to have your wand raised and ready." He moved into the dueling stance to demonstrate. "Now before we move on, I want you to take a few minutes to practice the stance so that you are comfortable. There is plenty of room, so space yourselves out." |
Aislynn was surprised to see Nurse Avalon in class. She hadn't completely forgiven her after the way she treated her in the waiting room. She slightly bit her lower lip and then went back to focus on the lesson. Right, first you bow then you... she watched the Professor. "Hmm It's kind of like the muggle version of 'pistols and dawn' variety. I know in 1995 the Ministry tried to get other countries to sign an International Ban on Dueling. But, that's irrelevant." She always said too much, why does she know so much history. No one cares about the background of things. She shook her hair in frustration. |
You should place your feet slightly apart and with one foot slightly in front of the other for better balance and of course don't forget to have your wand raised and ready. Those words got stuck in his mind, making him nod as the professor demonstrated the position that must be taken. Looking around, he walked towards a corner and started to practice. Feet apart, one shall be slightly to the front, wand raised and ready. It still didn't look good, so he just tried and tried a few times to just fit it fine. Let's hope he doesn't get his back kicked that day... |

Chris heard the professor say they should go parctice their stance. He nodded slighty and went to a open spot in the room. Once there he got into his position. He looked and he his feet were apart and his wand was raised and ready. But it didn't look or feel right to him. He did the stance again but when he put his wand out this time he bent his knees just a little. God he hoped he would do alright. He knew how to duel and had dueled a few times but not much. He just hoped not to end up in the hospital wing. |
Herminny heard a few answers of what you do before a duel and deicided to answere the question for herself and said, "You bow to you're oppenent, then turn away from them and walk ten paces and then turn around and take position". |
Jack went and took a spot towards the back, a few feet away from Chris as he looked down at his ginormous feet and sighed. He spaced them apart (naturally of course, not so it looked like he was straddling a cliff or anything) and as he stared at his feet, he realized that he had a quick question. "Professor?" he asked, raising his hand. "Which foot is supposed to go out slightly? The same side as your wand arm, or the opposite?" he asked. He figured it was probably the left one, since he was right handed, but he wasn't sure. |

And it was strange - as soon as she stood there in the duelling position, with her feet slightly apart, the weight shifting on her legs and her knees in a slight angle, she felt... Well, Kiri was not much of a dueller, she'd be the first to admit that, but it reminded her of one of the first Defence Against the Dark Arts lessons this term, where she'd had to fight her way through a saloon. She felt strong and... and powerful. The prospect of actually duelling suddenly was not as daunting and worrying anymore. Kiri found her right hand hovering in front of her stomach, right next to where she knew her wand was poking out of the hip holster. |

William walked over a few inches away and tried to take his stance. his left foot stuck out just a bit as his right foot stayed where it was. It didn't quite feel right but he figured it was as good as he was going to get it. spacing his feet out so there was a few inches separating them he shrugged a bit to himself as he let his hands fall to his sides. He looked like one of those people who thought they were cool, standing sideways with their arms crossed. Except his weren't crossed though. With a small flick of his wrist his wand was in his hand and he held it up, waiting for further instructions. |
As the other students started to get into what she recognized as a deuling stance she knew she must have blanked out and missed something and decided to get back into the swing of things. She quicly placed herself a little bit away from her classmates and and put her right foot slightly ahead of her left in good balance and held her wand out the ready hoping she was doing the stance right. |
Satine watched the students around her and began to mimic those around her that she knew were the ones to look up to. She took her stance, with her right hand/wand hand ready and her feet slightly apart for better balance. She tried as hard as she could to mimic the pictures she had seen from duels of wizards and of fencers from the muggle world. She looked around to reassure that she looked right compared to others. |
Aha. Time to take the stance. Though she never really did it, Karma spread her feet out to a little less than shoulder width, with her right foot out a little more than her left. She flicked her wand out from the wrist holder, and then held it out the way Lawson had, except more girly. She cast a glance over to him, and then to Emiliano. |
Whooops...looks like Saenz couldn't keep his balance once a curious, yet attractive glance was made to him. Karma Atkins. Hmm...So, he just fell on his butt, completely rushed into a blushing-like-tomato moment. He cleared his throat and tried to let go of the glance of the students around him. Oww...it hurt... >______< He took his position back, this time offensive. |
