Immensely proud for earning house points and thinking maybe she should answer questions more often, the small Hufflepuff looked up from her notes when the professor mentioned partners.

Maybe she wasn't so brave after all.

Biting her bottom lip, Wesley looked around for someone who needed a partner. She knew for sure there where three people asking for one and debated on walking up to one and asking. But she couldn't just leave Cela behind.

The older Ravenclaw had already shared with her so much. So Wesley wasn't going to assume they where partners and deny Cela the right of being partners with one of her friends.

Deciding the best thing to do was just ask, she said softly, "Do you have a partner?" to the Ravenclaw, smiling earnestly.

That way she wouldn't be abandoning Cela if she needed a partner, and she wasn't claiming her either incase the girl wanted to work with someone else. It was a win-win kind of question. Or at least Wesley thought so anyway.

"Hey! Karma, right? My dancing friend from the hospital ward," Anna said, laughing at the memory. She'd cut a rug in there on day in order to help Healer Avalon distract Karma while she set a bone or something like that. The distraction had worked, and Karma had been back on her feet in no time. "I'm still partnerless, too, if you still need one. Would you like to be partners?"

"Dancing queen!" Karma said, laughing. Ohh, that was fun. It still hurt like WOAH when Healer Avalon popped her shoulder back in. Hoefully it wouldn't act up on this. "Of courseee I'll be your partner."

She made her way up to where Anna was standing and then tentatively looked inside the box. Ropes, handcuffs, and chains. Well, this looked like it was going to be interesting.

"Which one do you want to start out with first?"

"Cordova, why don't you go and pair up with William over there he doesn't seem to have a partner either." Lawson stretched out in his chair as he watched the students come up and get the equipment. He had to stop himself from laughing at the ones who took the handcuffs.





ooc: Grab a partner and practice getting out of the binds. I will leave you alone for a while, so that others have a chance to play as well. I will pop in from time to time to see how you are all doing. Have fun. Especially those who pick the handcuffs

"Rope... that's genius," Copernicus smiled warmly at the Slytherin boy before picking up the length of rope and giving it a couple snaps to test the integrity of the material. It was a thick hank of rope, perfect for securely tying two unwilling students together. He unwound the rope and handed one end to Raiden.

"I'm Copernicus, by the way. We haven't formally met. I'm going to tie this end to your wrist, and then you can tie the other end to my wrist. Will that work?"

Anna laughed softly when Karma called her 'Dancing Queen', then she made a cute little turn as if to proved why she was being nicknamed that. "Oh, cool. Thanks!" she said, happy to have finally found a partner. Finding someone to pair up with was always a little awkward, especially when you found yourself searching and searching for one when everyone seemed to already have been taken. She was glad to have found Karma so quickly. "Let's go search though the materials and see which one we want to do first. I have to warn you, though. I'm afraid I have a detention starting soon, so if we get stuck together...well, you know."

"Hmm...why don't we just start with the rope and then work our way up? We can rope, then chain, then handcuffs," she suggested, picking up each out of the box. She held them up to Karma, then shrugged. "If you'd like to, that is..."

William walked up to the front and looked for the one named Cordova. He smiled and nodded when he found him and said, "So, what do you want to use? Rope first" He glanced down at the binds that were in the box looking over each one warily. He'd rather use rope anyway since it looked the easiest to use, though his spell work was still a bit choppy since he had not really practiced it as much as he'd like.

Oooh she twirled. SWEET. Karma also did part of the Jitterbug, then stopped as she realized she was at the front of the class. Teehee."Ahem," she coughed, snickering slightly.

She moved her hands over the objects in the box. The rope seemed pretty thick, and the chains might hurt a little. But the handcuffs -- hmm. Those would be last.

"Youuu got detention?!" Karma asked. "Which teacher and whyy?" But before Anna could answer her question, she had suggested going in order of rope, chains, then handcuffs. "That works, easiest to hardest. I'm a little weary about the handcuffs though, seeing as Alohomora probably won't work."

Watching as Copernicus Kettleburn inspected the rope, Raiden nonetheless flinched slightly when he yanked it and it didn't break. That meant there would be no breaking it to get out... and he didn't really know many charms for escaping, did he? He knew shields and Patronus Charms, and stuff like that... but he'd never actually had to escape from being tied.

"Nice to formally meet you then, Copernicus Kettleburn... I'm Raiden," he said softly, scratching the back of his head with one hand while taking the end of the rope with the other. "Uhm... and that's fine, but I have to admit... that I don't think I know any charms to escape from ropes. I haven't had the opportunity to actually think about learning things for that kind of situation."

Mostly because he hoped that he'd escape from most situations before being tied up, handcuffed or chained to others or objects. That would be ideal. As long as he knew a water charm and there was a buffalo head or something on the wall to hit the person with...

Cordova returned the smile kindly and and reached in the box and got ahold of the rope that William was eyeing. "William," he said not sure of his intent behind calling his name but something didn't feel right. "I just wanted...to introduce myself. Cordova Heinke," he said hesitantly holding out his hand.

"Ha ha. We better get started before we both get fussed at for dancing in class," she said, although she was still laughing a little at she and Karma's silliness. Anna nodded when Karma agreed to start with the ropes, then she turned to head towards an empty area of the classroom, so that they could work without being in anyone's way. She laid the chain and the handcuffs down on the ground and studying the rope for a bit.

"Professor Kazimeriz," she said, finally answering Karma's question. "I...I actually don't know what I did. I was just told to report to detention in the owlery." Her face fallen a little, she shrugged and sighed. She'd find out her fate soon enough, she supposed. "So, let's get started. Rope first, then." She took the rope and held it out to Karma, so she could help, too.

William eyed the much older student before him before holding out his hand and shaking his. "nice to meet you. William Cullack. you have an interesting name." He replied smiling a bit nervously. He seemed to be trying to figure out what was going on as he stood there now eying the rope in Cordova's hands. William was suddenly nervous that Cordova would tie him up, charm him to the wall and leave him there.

"PLYMMMMMMMMMOUTHHHHHHH" Varius sprinted across the DADA classroom and pounced on Plymouth's back. "WHATCHA gonna do? Hm? I'm binding you!" He wrapped his legs around Plymouths stomach and his hands around his neck, trapping Plymouth's arms to his side. "I R A NICE LOVELY GRINDYLOW. RAWRRR. IM FRENCH. Try and make me unbind! bwhahahahaha!"

Karma laughed along with Anna at them being weird at the front of the class. She watched Anna study the rope, and was trying to figure out the best way to tie it, and then escape from it.

She followed Anna to a corner of the classroom and held out her hand for the rope.

"Kazimeriz? Wow, that crazy old crank scared the sugar quills out of me last year on the moving staircase when a student tried to hex me, and I fought back. Ugh." Shiverrrr. "But, that's weird. Normally wouldn't they tell you what you did?"

Okay, rope time. That thing was thick. Severing Charm? Hmm. Hopefully all their body parts were staying intact.

"First off, how should we tie this?" Karma asked, eyeing the rope. Obviously not too tight. But still. "And do we have any ideas for spells?"

Plymouth was a jumpy sort anyway. He was. He's SQUEALED like a girl very manly man when he was attacked from behind. Here Plymouth was hoping some pretty girl would ask him to be his partner (ie Lettie? Anna? ... Cela?) - and he got Varius Tipps.


"Do .. okay, GrindyTipps." Plymouth trucked them up to the front of the room and bent over to let Varius choose their bindings. "Choose something other than your legs, aye? This is so not manly. Think what Professor V would say!"

He gripped on for dear life as Plymouth moved to the front of the class. He had sweaty fingers and he was slipppppinggg. "Not manly?" well Varius got off of Plymouth's back at once. "Of course not!" he agreed, "Most certainly UNmanly."

As he couldn't be bothered choosing a prop, he simply stuck his hand in the box and pulled out... rope. "Rope it is," he told Plymouth, just incase he couldn't tell . Ya know, it could happen. "So we've to tie our hands together?" Varius asked, doing a knot around his wrist, whilst handing the other side of the rope to Plymouth. "There," he tugged, "Tis' tight on my end."

"Well..." Copernicus thought that over as he tied one end of the rope to Raiden's wrist. "Well, have you heard of the severing charm? I was thinking we could use that. I'd be happy to teach it to you."

"Is this some sort of test, Professor? See who is dumb enough - no offense Varius - to actually tie themselves up?" Surely, right? Who in their right mind would tie themselves to ... Varius Tipps? Or Tino Complicated-last-name???


But, Plymouth played along. He'd been the fool in more than one way this year, so why not once more. "Alright, little man. All tied up. We just - heh - tied the knot. Me and you."


SCARY.

Once again Abby finds herself without a partner. She goes to the front of the class. "Professor Lawson, I appear to not have a partner. Would I ruin your reputation if I ask you to handcuff yourself to me?" Abby tries very hard not to crack a smile as she ask the professor. She's had worse partners before.

Severing Charm? Raiden nodded fervently. He'd definitely heard of that before. That, however, didn't mean he knew how to perform it, so it was good that Copernicus Kettleburn was offering to teach it. He stood very still as Copernicus Kettleburn tied the rope around his wrist, his thumb running up and down the other end of the rope but careful not to jostle it.

"If you don't mind teaching me how, I'd like that," he said firmly, starting his end of the rope around Copernicus Kettleburn's wrist and tying it carefully. He didn't want to like, hurt him or something with it, that would be bad. Especially if... well if they got stuck or something. "It's not too tight, right?"

Anna just shrugged when Karma questioned her detention. She really didn't know the answers. All she knew was that she'd find out soon enough. Odd thing was, Karma just might find out soon enough, too...if she accidentally got stuck to Anna, that is. She tried not to think about the upcoming detention too much, though, so instead, she refocused her attention on the rope in her hands.

"Let's see. Here, stick your hand through this loop," she said, holding out the loop, then moving it to fit around Karma's wrist. It fit just perfectly, too. Anna did the same on her arm, then continued looping and typing...looping and tying. In a matter of minutes, the rope was securely around their wrists. "Alright, let's see. Okay, I know..."

Anna raised her wand and aimed it carefully at the rope. With a swish and a flick, she said, "Diffindo!" She waited to see if something...anything...would happen, but when it didn't, her face fell and her shoulders slouched. "Aww, man. I was so sure that would work, too," she said.

"We... tied the knot?" Varius asked a little confused, "OH! (there it was) haha! You're silly Plym-face."

NOW! For the next part of the challenge - trying to get the ropes OFF. Well, what better way than to pull? Varius pulled with all his might away from Plymouth, feeling as if he was about to dislocate his hand. His feet ended up sliding on the floor and he found himself on his backside, but that wasn't gonna stop him. PULL! "Get off me you stupid STRING. AHHHHHH!"

It took all of Lawson's restraint not to burst out laughing at the young Hufflepuff jumping onto Plymouth's back. He cleared his throat a couple of times but a chuckle escaped his lips and he placed his hand over his mouth to cover it.


"It's a test to see if you can get yourself out of bindings, yes Plymouth. Not because you are dumb but because even the smartest of people can find themselves in awkward situations." Marcus cleared his throat again, the image of Varius Tipps on Plymouth's back still fresh in his mind. "He did make a pretty good Grindylow I must say." He couldn't help it this time and he laughed so hard that he had to duck down behind the desk.

Kazimeriz was a mean one, and she knew that even some professors were scared of him too. Well, that just gave the crank a confidence boost. The only thing was, what if she had to go to detention with Anna? Oh Merlin's polka dotted underpants, that would be a trip. Seeing as how she'd never had detention before...

Karma placed her hand through the loop Anna held out for her. "Perfect fit," she commented. Now, what to use? She watched Anna try the Severing Charm on the rope, and when it didn't work, Karma frowned.

"Maybe both of us have to do it at the same time," she said, grabbing her wand. "On the count of three. One... two... three... Diffindo!"

Maybe? Siiiigh.

Marcus popped his head up slowly from out behind the desk at hearing Abby's request. Um...not a good idea. He had charmed the handcuffs and it wouldn't be good to be stuck with a student for a few hours. "Er...let's see if I can find you a partner Abby. I need to be able to get around to the other students if they need me." Yes, yes could cover up there Lawson.

"Does anyone here not have a partner yet? Abby here needs one." And I need to keep my hands free thank you very much.
