"Hmm...maybe so," Anna replied, shrugging, then listened to Karma do a countdown. She raised her wand, and when Karma said three and casted, Anna flicked, swished, and casted, as well. "Diffindo!" she called out. At first, it didn't look like it would work, but as soon as the spell from Anna's wand made contact with the spell from Karma's wand, the magic came together with such a great force, that the rope could no longer stand the pressure. The cracking sound of the rope breaking came first, then slowly, little pieces began to split here and there...then everywhere! Half of a minute later, the coil of rope lay on the floor at their feet. "You were right," she said, glancing down at it. "Our spell was really powerful together.... So, the chain now, right? Would you like to tie it?"

With their mouthes moving in an synchronized order, Cordova examined both of their spells at the exact same time and on the same spot collide perfectly. The rope uncoiled it's self from both students wrist instantaneously and fell to the floor lifeless and torn. Cordova looked up at William. He was smirking politely turning his attenion towards the ripped rope that laid on the floor. "Seems like someone is capable of more than what they appear to be," he rambled trying to sound encouraging as he bent down to retrieve their class material. He placed it on the table and moved towards the front of the classroom where he peered over the box of cuffs and chain.

"I think the chains will hurt," he spoke across the room towards William. "You see," he continued, "I have this theory that they only way to remove them is to lubricate our skin and forcefully repel them off OR," he hesitated and gave a slight chuckle. "We could try to make them explode," he said nonchalantly but knew that it would be the even more dangerous route. "Scratches, slight burns, or nothing," he said carrying the chain back towards their work space and chucking aside the chain on the table. "Either way, if a Grindylow or dangerous creature got ahold of one of us, the simplest answer wouldn't always be the most sufficient."

Without needing to say anymore. He sat down, grabbed his notes, and wrote down his observations from his encounter with the rope.

Wheee. Both of them together had made the spell work. She blinked when the rope snapped, as it was rather loud. Oh well, at least it was off now, and at their feet.

"Awesome," she said. "And yeah, I'll tie it."

She bent down and pushed the smoldering rope out of her way, coughing once as she got some smoke in her face. Yuck. Resuming her position, she paused for a moment on how to tie the chain. She first wrapped it around her own wrist twice and then pulled the end through. Grabbing Anna's arm, she did the same thing, making sure it wasn't too tight. Chain marks would make people wonder.

"Alright," she said, stepped back a little. "What spell could we use now? Or do you think we may have to make one up?"

Plymouth was well stunned that that.. had worked. Slowly, one finger at a time, Plymouth let go of Barney the statue of... statues. He held up his bound hands for GrindyTipps to stay put - and Plymouth slipped his wand out. "Right.... okay. I'm no expert, but just hold still. Hah. Like you're doing. Good boy." Plymouth reached up to pat Varius on his wee blond head. Merlin, that was awkward and... Right. Get un-bound from Tipps.


"Errr... diffindo! ..." Plymouth tried. NO. He had to do better than that. His wrists were getting RAW and Varius no doubt had a short attention span.


And he wanted a divorce.


"DIFFINDO! FOR FREEDOM! Plymouth severed their ties, leaving tight little rope bracelets around each of their wrists. WOO! He hugged Tipps randomly, and ironically, for being free from him.

Copernicus held up his wrist to examine the trailing rope. "No, I think it probably would cut you if you got the spell too close to your person. That's why you tried your first cut in the middle where our hands were really far away."

Raiden winced. The spell could cut them too? That... well that was bad. What if they got the spell 'too close to their person' and cut themselves getting the rest of the rope off? He eyed the circle around his wrist. They couldn't just leave it there, could they? Pretend it was like, a manly bracelet or something?

No, no. That wouldn't work.

"So... how..." he mumbled, poking the circle with his wand as he held it out in front of him. "I guess... at a certain angle it'll work without hitting 'your person' right?" If he kept his hand down, and pointed at it just right... the spell shouldn't hit him. He hoped. Bleeding was no fun, and that was the most likely result of this little... venture, should things go wrong. "If I put my wand flat against my arm like this... and put the tip against the rope, it shouldn't cut meeee, right? Because it'll be... well, if it were a different spell it would be directed just above my skin and off that direction, so unless I like, flip my hand up it shouldn't touch, right?"

He was actually surprised when his spell worked with no backlash like the last time he had attempted a spell like that. He must be getting better at this, which gave him more confidence of course. Rubbing his wrist absently he sat more comfortable as Corvoda went to grab the chain. Taking out a fresh piece of parchment from his bag, in which he had brought with him up to the area they were at now he dipped his quill into his ink and began writing notes about the rope and their mini victory.

When Corvoda brought the chain back William eyed it carefully as if waiting for any signs of weakness to jump out at him. Burning it with the Incindio spell was out there was no way the spell would be powerful enough and he wasn't about to mention it. He tried to think of other spells which would limit their danger. Reducto wouldn't do much he figured, probably just make their wrists sore. When he heard Corvoda speak about making it explode he blinked, "You mean like a Confringo spell or something similar?" He asked vaguely aware of how dangerous the Confringo spell was. "We could try lubricating our wrists but if we're thinking realistically then in real life if we're facing a Grindylow we wouldn't have time to lubricate ourselfs so I guess the latter is what we have to do." he said with a hint of nerves in his voice.

He turned back to his notes, making a note of what other spells could have worked for the ropes.

Herminny looked around, everyone seemed to have already partnered up, she sighed as she was about to raise her hand and asked to beparttnered with someone as usually when she saw Cedric was still partnerless and walked over to him and asked, "Would you like to be my partner for this insane assignment?".

"Sure."He answered.Their assignment were wicked awesome,crazy homework and evil tons of works.He bet that this homework or let's say task will be as awesome as the first one.

"Thanks, so what do you want me to get to tie us together with: ropes ,chains, or handcuffs, I suggest ropes because I think it would be easiest to get of, what do you think?"

"Nah,I would prefer hancuffs.Its exciting."He grinned.He want a lot of excitements and adventures these days.

"Okay, then I can't guarantee we'll be free of each other anytime soon", Herminny said as she went over to the table with supplies and grabbed the hand cuffs and returned to him and gulped as she handcuffed Cedrics arm to hers. She gave him a look and said, "Now, do you know any spells that could possibly free us from hancuffs?"

Sweat began appearing on Varius' forehead. How good was Plymouth at wandwork? He knew he was good with plants and dirt and stuff, but how good was he at this diffindo thing? He watched tensely as the boy placed his wand on the strip of rope that connected them. When he cast the incantation, Varius let off a little scream out of fright.

"Oh!? We're free!!!! and divorced! Yayyy!" he exclaimed accepting Plymouth's rather unexpected hug and rubbing his head. Then, in true Varius fashion, started to boogey. "OoOoOoOo i'm freee," little kick jive there, "sososososos freeeeee," here comes the moonwalk, "free free freeeeeee."

No one could beat his crazy dance skillz, pls. Except maybe Renee

Natka looked around. Hmm, everyone seemed to have paired up already while she'd been busy taking notes... she couldn't spot anyone without a pair yet, but she desperately didn't want to miss out on the practical work done now.

She walked up to the Professor, hoping he could help her. After all, he was taller; he could probably spot someone without a pair in the classroom with far more ease than she could.

"Professor, is there any chance you could help me find a partner? Only I don't see anyone without one any more..." she asked.

Laura looked around, and for the life of her, she couldn't find anyone without a partner already, feeling slightly downhearted, the little first year raised herself onto her toes, in an attempt to see past the heads of all of the taller people. Sadly, Lauras height was against her, and she still couldn't see.

Then, on hearing a voice she recognised, Laura pushed her way to the front of the classroom. "Hi Natka!" she cried. "I'll be your partner, if you want! I mean, I haven't got a partner either and...." Laura almost blushed. What if Natka didn't want a stupid first year as her partner. What if she wanted someone who could actually do magic. However, the small girls pride kept her head up, and she calmly looked up (for the third year was taller than she was) at Natka.

Kita looked up. Pairs?! she thought. She looked around. Everyone was already in pairs. Great. Simply great. She stacked her notes and looked up at the professor. She hoped that the professor would notice that she didn't have a partner as well. She decided to get up. She walked to the professor and asked "Professor. I um don't have a partner. Will you help me find one, please?" By this time, Kita was blushing furiously and hoping she wasn't going to be on her own...

Natka swivelled around from the Professor at the sound of a familiar voice. She smiled when she realized it was Laura - and luck must have been on her side, because it seemed Laura was as partner-less as she herself was.

"Great!" she said with a grin. "We can work together than, I'm sure we can work out how to get ourselves out of bonds, right, Laura?" Natka smiled happily. Not only was she working with someone she knew, which always made cooperation easier, but it was somone from her house - and everyone knows Claws get along best with Claws.

Oops! And once again Nancy had managed to miss the professor's order to find a partner. And now she was all on her own. Hmpf... Why did she have to spend the lessons daydreaming lately instead of actually paying attention?! Especially when the lesson was Defense Against the Dark Arts.

And now she would have to walk up to Professor Lawson to ask him to find her a partner. How embarrassing. But just as Nancy had reached the professor with a huge frown plastered across her face she noticed a younger girl who had apparently just asked Lawson the same question she had wanted to ask too. Only now it seemed that there was no need to ask said question anymore as it seemed like she had just found a partner. "Hi. You could work with me if you like." Nancy told the girl with a small grin that said that even though it had sounded like the girl could choose whether or not she wanted to work with her, it was not up for discussion. No, they were partners now. Duh.

Naomi stood up and looked around the classroom for someone who may not have a partner yet. She wasn't quite sure if there was anyone else left. "Professor, I still need a partner."

Lettie looked over across the room to a boy who had yet to be partnered up. "I'm still free, would you mind very much if the two of us teamed together for the class?"

She glanced over to, erm, Plymouth, and some other blonde boy. Boys could be so odd sometimes. Smiling slightly, Leticia looked through the older student's book real quick before switching stares to the unpaired boy.

Kita smiled at the girl. "Hi! Thanks so much! Looks like we're partners now." she said to Nancy. She was glad to have a partner even if she didn't know her. She noticed that she wasn't even in the same house as her. This didn't bother her one bit but she was glad since it meant that she might have a friend from another house which is equally good...

Copernicus was actually quite nervous about either Raiden or himself losing a finger (or hand) in this adventure. "Erm, what about that snipping charm we learned last term in Herbology? I don't think it could just... cut anything right off without you knowing because it makes smaller cuts more slowly. Do you remember the incantation?"

Anna watched as Karma tied the chain around and around their wrists. Pretty soon, both girls were once again tied today. She thought that maybe a Grindylow attack would be similar, but she imagined the Grindylow to be a lot more painful. Oh, and more likely to fight back, of course. What spell should they use this time, though? Hmm... "What about the spell we just learned in Transfiguration? You know the one that made objects disappear?" she suggested. "Evanesco? We'd just have to be careful to not aim our wands towards ourselves or each other. We wouldn't want to cause one another to disappear, now would we?"

She lightly laughed, then raised her wand high into the air. She paused and took in a sort of deep sigh. She surely hoped no major accidents would accompany trying this spell. She had faith, though. She and Karma were both old enough to handle this one. She flicked her wrist, then moved her wand in a tight circle. "Evanesco!" she called out, aiming the wand directly at the chain. Nothing. "Hmm...got any other ideas?" she asked.

Aaron didn't have a partner either. And he didn't see any of his friends. So he looked at the girl and said across the room, "I'll work with you." He then walked over to her and said, "I'm Aaron. Aaron Anderson."

Nancy returned the smile, glad to actually have found a partner and said as she motioned for the girl to follow her, "Yeah, I guess so. So, I'm Nancy. What's your name?" In the meantime she had walked back to the desk she had been sitting at for the rest of the lesson but now she was only standing in front of it, unsure as to how to proceed. What exactly were they supposed to do now that they had found a partner? Why couldn't she pay attention during class?! Meh...

Her blue eyes scanned the classroom in search for any indicator to tell her what they were supposed to do. And then all of a sudden her eyes fell on a box which had been placed onto the professor's desk. Yes, that had to be it. Whatever was inside it would help her figure out what they had to do. So, with a quick "Okay, I'll be right back" directed at the first year she was working with Nancy strode of to the front of the classroom to retrieve whatever they needed for their assignment.

...Which turned out to be a rope, chains and muggle handcuffs?! What were they supposed to do with them?! Her eyes widened slightly in surprise at what she had just found when she made her way back to the firstie and her desk. On her way down the aisle of desk the 15 year old glanced at the other students and what they were doing with the things.

"Okay...I think we are supposed to tie ourselves together with these thingies here." Nancy said with a small frown as she placed the things onto her desk. With all of them at the same time?! No, probably not. "So, what do you want to try first?" She asked the girl with a small smile.
